Lacie sat on the tortoise for a bit, before hopping off. This was not an appropriate mount! Not at all.

"C'mon!" West shouted, probably disturbing the forest for at least a thirty foot radius. "Yer a jackin' turtle!" He threw the lasso over the animal's neck and pulled, but the tortoise silently held its ground. Eventually it tried to wander off, and although West resisted and there were many curses involved, the tortoise kept walking, snapping West's lasso in its wake.

Zurine was not normally an early riser - in fact she was far more prone to being the 'sleep until lunch' type but the excitement of her next class here on the island of war meant that she had set an alarm to wake her up as what she thought to be a quite reasonable 'bright and early' time. Unfortunately her definition of bright and early did not seem to be the same as Faiza and Radha. But when they came to wake her up and she'd managed to yawn and rub the sleep from her eyes she was more then willing to hurry and get dressed before rushing off to the meeting spot. What were they going to do today? More lassoing? Maybe ride a horse?
Her hopes were not dashed against the hard rocks of truth at her arrival - quite the contrary they were exceeded! She was to go into the woods and find a mount all her own!! She would love it and gentle it and call if Princess!..well if it was a girl, if it was a boy obviously it would be Prince. Such thought occupied her mind even as she tried to pay attention to the rest of the lecture..call fear, use it as armor..right got it! As soon as they were dismissed Zurine practically dashed off into the woods.Quote: You follow the haunting cry of a lone wolf and come across it. Eventually.

Unfortunately the wolf did not seem to take kindly to being roped and Zurine had not thought to try and find some morsel of food to distract it with and so she ended backing up quickly as the beast growled rather menacingly at her. Of course that certainly wasn't going to help her earn a wolfs respect now was it and after a few paces Zurine stood her ground and attempted to follow the instructions they had been given to appear more menacing herself.

Whatever she must had done seemed to have worked because as she advanced the wolf actually seemed to cower down..just a little bit which if Zurine remember right was a good sign. Now if she could just finish convincing it she'd be set!

And while it looked like they were going to do alright together for a few moments Zurine must have let her concentration slip for just a second - long enough for the wolf to slip it's rope and run off into the woods. For a few minutes the rather stunned Zurine considered following it but then simply shrugged and walked on to see what she encountered next.

After making a stop back by the War clanswomen to pick up another length of rope, West ventured into the forest once again, heading out in a different direction this time. He noticed an odd sort of howling almost immediately, and decided to head toward it, for lack of any better ideas. It took a while, but eventually the boil came upon a wolf. The beast sat in a clearing, and from where West stood, it seemed the thing was bawling its eyes out.
"Didn't know wolves could be huge whiny babies," he muttered, circling the animal.
