Miyuki blinked up at Amalirahc, this idea of age was a bit foreign to her, but only because her family never made such a big deal out of years. Seeing as the majority of the family were probably under the age of five.
"Mummi what am I?" she asked.
Lin paused, and stared and wondered what would be the easiest method to tell her daughter. Honestly, she never had this problem of explaining the difference between physical and chronological age before. Well, she did but it was awkward not confusing.
"Six," she replied deciding to give the most obvious age.
If she had to she would explain later on in life.
"Okay! I'm six!"

Amalirahc grinned. "Same as me," he said happily. And it made sense to him: they had been little together, and now they were six together.
Earendil knew the truth, but he just smiled.
"Someday," he murmured, "Amalirahc will learn the use of studying, and then he will care. Just give it time."
"Never!" Amalirahc grinned.

It made Lin wonder how long that was going to last, technically Miyuki was only three months. Terrifying considering that Miyuki was now six. Lin was beginning to understand why her father always muttered under his breath about "damn quick growths".
"Well, at least now you won't be alone in your studies," Lin replied, "Because Miyuki will be studying too."
"I will?"
Miyuki didn't quite realize it yet, but she had always been in her own way studying. The storybooks, the songs in both English, Japanese and Chinese. The counting... all that were forms of learning and studying, it was just she had only begun to scratch the surface of what she could learn.
"Yes," Lin replied, "You said you wanted to have your own notebook to write in, so you'll learn how to write, and... another language."
"Yay! I get my own notebook," that seemed to be the only thing that mattered at the moment, "And my own feather?"
"Quill? Yes...."

Earendil smiled at Miyuki. He knew Aranxia liked to learn, but Miyuki was the only child other than he who also liked to learn. He supposed that it helped that Miyuki was a stage-grower, but most children he knew were more like Amalirahc - didn't like to learn.
"At any rate," Arwen smiled, "now that you're here, we can tell them to start actually loading the caravels. Amalirahc, would you like to go tell them ..."
"I'll go!" the boy volunteered, perhaps a bit too eagerly. "Can Miyuki come with me?"

"Can I?" Miyuki looked up at her Mummi with wide eyes.
She really wanted to go with Amalirahc, though chances were it was probably just because he was very excited to go. Excitement was contagious it seemed.
Lin wasn't so sure, this was different than letting her loose in the castle, but Lin herself admitted she was going to have to learn also how to just let go.
"Alright, but stay close to Amalirahc okay?"
Miyuki nodded excitedly at this, that was perfectly fine to her.

"We'll be good!" Amalirahc promised, reaching for Miyuki's hand. "Promise!"
He grinned at her and tugged her towards the door. "Come on, you can see where my ada and neko and nana-tol work! It's really neat!"

"Nana-tol? Old kitty?" Miyuki repeated as she followed Amalirahc out the door.
Lin blinked and sighed shaking her head, "Eventually, she'll be able to tell the difference between the two."
She still hadn't managed to get Miyuki to tell the difference. It was hard for Miyuki to understand the difference between the languages.

Amalirahc laughed as he headed out the door with Miyuki. "Not old kitty, grandfather!" he giggled. "Neko is grandfather. Ada's ada!"
He tugged her along the wooden planks of the dock towards the shipyard. "Come on, they'll be happy to see us!"

She hurried her pace a bit, though Amalirahc's words made her wonder. Did that mean her Ada's ada was her neko? He seemed awfully grumpy to her, more than her grandpa.
"Oh..... Okay!"

Only about thirty seconds down the dock, there was the shipyard, and there were a large number of people hard at work. There were five ships at anchor, and one of them was being worked on, the hull being hammered by some elves on a scaffold.
The building was open, both doors wide, and it was there that Amalirahc led Miyuki. "In here!" he grinned. "Come on!"
Inside, Kelirahc was studying a set of blueprints, while Roydon was directing work on a new ship that was being built in a hole in the middle of the room, held up by wooden bracers above the water below.
"Ada!" Amalirahc called out, running over to his father. "Ada, look who's here!"

If Miyuki hadn't still been holding Amalirahc's hand she would have stopped and looked around. She had never seen anything so big before (well except maybe the castle). There was just so much activity, very distracting for the young kitsune.

Kelirahc looked up from his work and grinned widely. "Amalirahc. Aren't you supposed to be studying?"
"Mama said I could bring Miyuki here," he grinned back. "Have to tell you, they're here! Earendil and Lin and Shea and Mikhail and Kaito! All here! We have to start loading the ships, okay?"
Kelirahc chuckled. "Welcome, Miyuki. Nice to see you again. And all grown up, I see."

Miyuki waved and nodded at that, "I have three tails now."
For some reason she understood the importance of that better than her own age.

"Very nice," Kelirahc said proudly. "You look lovely."
Amalirahc grinned. "I'll go talk to Neko," he told his father, turning and running off to the ship.
Kelirahc chuckled softly and turned back to Miyuki. "So. How have you been, Miyuki? Learning lots? Spending lots of time with your mother?"

Miyuki nodded, "I can count, and add a bit, and know some words in books.... we had to go and visit family."
She nodded at this as if she hadn't had to go home, but had to visit. To her visiting made much more sense really.
"And now we get to spend lots of time with ada!"
