Hikari's eyes widened and she blushed. It was true, she hadn't had a chance to get dressed.
"Captain Maximoru, you really shouldn't say that," she muttered. "I'm not beautiful. Not with these scars and tattoos and piercings."
Hikari thought about the various events that had caused her to change so drastically. Wandering her whole life had inspired her to get snakebites, dying had given her the jagged and unsightly x-shaped scar on her face. When she had arrived at the academy, she realized she already looked strange enough with red eyes to boot, so she had added tattoos reminiscent of tear tracks to the mix.

Shaking his head slightly and continuing to walk Maxi just smiles at her, "What can I say, I like the way you look. Makes you unique and less fragile than most people, and I have to say I love the eyes. We're a match pair." His blood red eyes sparkle as he chuckles following the last part. "But I have to ask, why tears? I can understand that they look bad a** but why look as if your crying constantly?"

Hikari smiled as Maximoru spoke. It was kind of him and flattering but he asked a deep question and she mulled it over for a moment.
Well, I have nothing to lose, she thought.
"The whole story is a bit dark but I'll tell you," she muttered after a moment. "When I got into the academy, I already looked strange to everyone else. They whispered behind my back, started rumors and shunned me. My appearance and personality got me a reputation and only a few people ever messed with me.
"But I had always wanted to get tattoos, if only to spite my mother. When I was deciding what I wanted the tattoo to look like, I remembered my favorite memory.
"My parents had taken my brother and I to the circus in America. It was one of the only times I was ever happy with my parents. The only thing that was bad about the experience was this one clown that scared me. He had similar lines on his face.
"So I, being the twisted and cynical creature that I am, decided to take a trait from the worst element of one of my best memories. That's why it's such a dark story."

Shivering slightly at the mention of clowns, Maxi smirks and tries to play it off as a neck roll... Badly. "I can agree with the disliking of clowns, but I can't relate to this story, as I have never met a clown nor been to the circus. My family was a military family, but not one that moved around like the Americans, We lived in London and had a nice, if boring life. The fear rises from the gangs that rioted in and around our home. Main group called them self the clowns." He sighs, slowing his pace as he quickly thinks back to his family, still living there. "Well, I cant say I dont like the look they give you."

Hikari winced as she listened to his story.
"So we have a mutual enemy, if only in name," she muttered. "And I agree, I never did like America. That's why I was happy to move back home to Naha in the Okinawa prefecture."
Hikari noticed how troubled the captain looked and bit her lip. It was one thing to hurt her enemies but she hated when she accidentally hurt decent people.
"Gomenasai, Captain Maximoru-taichou," Hikari said. "I shouldn't have brought the whole thing up."

"Its fine," He says, and puts a smile on his lips, the one anyone who sees him regularly would see. If you look closely at it, and really watched his eyes you could tell it was just to please others and to make sure they dont worry. "Now why are you naked in the first place little Missy?"

"No it isn't fine, I can tell because your eyes aren't happy," Hikari argued, forgetting herself. "And you can blame that creep of an arrancar for me wearing a medical robe."
Hikari scowled as she thought of Hawk and her fingers clenched into a fist which reminded her that she was still mostly crippled. After a moment of testing she discovered she could actually move her wrists a bit up and down.
Of course, thinking of Hawk caused Hikari to think of Slash, too. As if being put in a foul, surly mood wasn't enough. She fervently hoped he had had enough sense to stay in the Sereitei.
He better have, she thought. If only for his own safety. He just lost his trump card now that the arrancar has an antidote.

"I need to wear sunglasses more often, stupid eyes betraying me." He mutters as he walks, his mind fighting with itself over the emotions he is feeling. "You know, I never asked you why you joined 11th. Care to tell me?" His smile slightly warmer as his eyes soften and he glances down at her.

"Hey Maxi! didn't expect to see you here... I'm just dropping by to install this neat little gun you sent me. Oh, am I interrupting something?"
Marco took notice of the other person standing there and waved.

Hikari blinked. She had nearly forgotten the conversation. Nearly, but not quite.
"Oh sorry, I guess I liked the history of squad 11. As well as it's name and what it stands for. My personality, y'know?" she muttered. "If you don't mind my asking, what about you? Why join 12th?"
It was about then that Marco spoke and she noticed him out of the corner of her eye.
"Hi," she said, curling her fingers in an awkward wave.

Lupus with Torsin on his back walked out of the gate. Looking around he
took a large wiff of air catching many scents in the air. With no scents really known to him, and Torsin he decided to go to a place he once was when he was in control of torsin's body that one time. With another howl he started to run off to that location hoping there would be help there for Torsin.

With a slight sigh Maxi smiles over at Marco before speaking, "Nope just giving our neighbor a lift back to eleventh squad. She was one of the captives and kinda met with their version of one of the former captains of this squad... Ehehehe, he kinda reminds me that I need to do some work though... So we shall be going." He motions with his free arm to the top of the Gate and points just to the left of the middle. "Its set to open when your ready to install the gun, or if its to heavy for you, just carry it around until you can."
He smiles as he turns away from his 7th seat and heads away from him with a wave, then addresses Hikari's question. "Well I was the vice captain of third before becoming a captain, and while I was there I was practicing things even twelfth squad was avoiding due to his weak heart-ed actions. So he disappeared and I got a promotion. Lets just leave it at that until we have time to share drinks, okay?" He smiles a bright, yet dark smile.

Hikari blinked, somewhat shocked by what she heard. It surprised her that the meaning behind the captain's words affected her so when she had recently visited the world her zanpaktou lived in. The world she had created.
Shut up, she thought, sharply to herself. Speaking of which, where is that annoying voice of his?
Hikari was amazed that she still had not heard from the Presence, even though her zanpaktou was lying among her things just behind her head.
Hello? She called tentatively.
No answer. Hikari's eyes widened and she searched her mind, looking for some evidence of her zanpaktou. She was about to open her mouth to give voice to her growing alarm when she remembered the first time she heard her zanpaktou. It had been just after her scrape with Hawk in squad 4.
I can't tell anyone about being able to hear my zanpaktou prematurely, she recalled. If I did then my only options would be to leave or die.
So she dwelled upon the disappearance of the Presence from her mind in silence. The situation made her long for the solitude of her room in the barracks where she could panic in peace.
"Hai, Captain," she muttered, smiling half-heartedly.

Watching Hikari go threw a minor panic attack then suddenly stop and give a halfhearted answer, to the man who fakes almost every emotion in public, causes him to see how other people see his actions for the first time. "Hm, that was the most interesting thing I have seen all week, and I saw a being born from pure data, time travel. All that aside though, anything I can help you with, or is this something you need to work on alone?" His eyes bore straight into hers as he smirks slightly and watches for more interesting motions.

Ugh. Why does everyone insist on underestimating my strength? First that Kuuri guy, now my own captain...I figure he is the one who should know my limits best. Even after being weakened by my necklace earlier I can install this. I HAVE been lugging it around everywhere anyway, so how hard can it be to set it up??
Marco made a guttural sound of disapproval without noticing, approached the gate, and prepared to install the weapon.
