Alec gave in easily and slumped down into a sitting position on the floor where he'd been standing a moment before, the feeling of Amaya's hand holding him back being enough to keep his indecisive mind from choosing firmly to leave and not come back until much later.

"A' d'neh!" He sighed, exasperated, shakily fidgetting with the cap to his bottle of water before taking a slug of its contents. "Wha' amma g'neh do, wha' amma g'neh do..."

She frowned, looking back down at him when he sat. She joined him, getting in the same awkward crouch as before. What was he talking about? "It'll be okay, Alec. If I can get through it alive, anyone can. And if there's ever ANYTHING you need to talk about, I'm here."

Alec nodded silently, shuffling his legs to srpawl out infront of him once again. "Yanno.... a' knew a'd be like.... like ye some day." He glanced over to the iguana girl with little malice or even pity, more of an empathetic gaze. "Bu' a neveh... a' neveh believed i', a' guess? Deep down."

The sharkboy shrugged and leaned back to lie on the floor until his short row of stiff fins got him stuck half-way. "GAH!" He rolled over quickly, ending up on his side. "A keep fohgettin th'fookin things awe theh!!" He laughed, as if he wasn't really hurting inside anymore.

The reptile nodded in understanding. "Me too. Even though I kept my face up until the end, I had a feeling it would get taken away eventually. I guess it just takes longer for some then others. I don't blame you, it's hard to comprehend having your face changed so drastically." She gave him a sad smile as he laughed, knowing he was just masking his own pain. "You'll get used to them, eventually."

"Oh, f'sho." He murmured in agreement, still laying on his side like somesort of mutated fish out of water. "A' feel like someso' a' sea-food speshul from Mar'i's fish n' chips." He snorted despite the irony of his statement, managing to drag himself back to sit up straight again.

'Ave ye been ou'?"

Amaya couldn't help herself, giving a quiet little laugh. Though at the question she blinked. "Not really. Aside from going on food runs and sitting out on my porch to bask sometimes..." She rubbed the spines running down her neck and head nervously.

Alec blinked, expecting a similar response before the quiet girl even opened her lizardy mouth. He knew she wasn't outgoing at all but he had to admit that she was doing ok for an introverted girl with a very low self esteem put into a situation as that. "Least ye gettin ou'." He echoed, rocking back on his rump and balancing on the tip of one of his dorsal fins.

"A'm thinkin th'beach..." The teen glanced up with a pondering expression, forgetting for a moment that he looked like an absolute monstrosity now. Being seen in public didn't seem so bad, so far.

She nodded, then looked over at him. "Don't try breathing in the salt water, Awen almost died trying that." Man, she hadn't been to the beach in ages it seemed. But she wouldn't come unless Alec seemed to want her company.

Alec turned to her and grimaced, curling his lip back in an expression that communicated that he was imgaining the pain of salt in a wound. It hadn't occurred to him that the salt water would in actuality be harmful to him. "Oh... ekay." Thinking it over, he shrugged. "Ah well. If a w'neh swim long a' coul' go teh th'lake. Sucks though, a' like th'beach betteh."

Letting the idea strike him, he went ahead and asked. "'ey, ye wanna go?"

The iguana blinked, the small dewlap on her neck opening and closing and her tongue flickering a moment. "Sure, sounds nice to me." She smiled.

Alec looked pleased by the reaction to his suggestion, giving a bit of a toothy smile. "I' migh' take awhile, a' c'nt walk fast."

"That's okay, I'll walk slow." Amaya stood, handing him the towel he had worn over his eyes. "You'll probably need this until you get used to the light." She waited until he had it on before walking over to the door and opening it.

Alec nodded and decided to play safe, draping the towels he'd brought over himself again exactly how they were before he came inside. "A' 'ope they get betteh soon. O' else a'll 'afta ask th'staff fo' shades." He smirked at this and got up from his seat to follow Amaya out the door, but not before grabbing his bottle of water to bring with him.

She would have jumped into saying they wouldn't help him at all. That, for one, he didn't have any ears. But... her muzzle remained closed. From now on she wouldn't say anything about the labs to anyone. The less she talked and fought about it, the less people she would accidently get involved. They had threatened the only thing she cared about just because they could and because she had been difficult. Because of her, one of her most loved family members was trapped inside the labs right now.

But Ambrose was on fairly good terms with the labs... so he seemed to say and act. They would... He would be okay. The girl cleared her throat, but didn't say anything else on the subject of lab techs and the doom that was positioned above all of their heads over the cliffside.

"Tell me if I'm walking too fast, okay?" She informed for a slight change in subject matter.
