Brynn Syvra was frozen to the bone. She curled up in a corner away from everyone and let her braid out. She spread it over her like a thick black blanket. "I wish you guys were in here. Then you'd have something to try and warm yourself by," she whispered from underneath the huge curtain. "I guess growing it out until it dragged on the floor was a good thing. Too bad I can't share." She concentrated on the feelings of pain and numbness that seeped into her. She was going to make the doctor know what it felt like to be in one of his own hellholes.

The walls were covered in stick figure artwork, depicting an epic tale of combat and betrayal, such a drama-filled story which could only be depicted on a dorm/cell wall and it was a prideful work to be sure. In the center of the room, L sat with his legs crossed as he followed the action in its intended order as he enjoyed the sights as if they were part of a movie whole. His gray eyes dashing about under his veil of silver-white hair as he watched each scene intently as he finally lay back and followed the trail to the smallest corner of the room to remember he ran out of room. "NYYYYUUUUUU!!!! EPIC CLIFFHANGER!!! No faaaaiiiiirrrr! It was at the final battle! I must know who wins!!!"

Hal laughed and was just about to reply to Thorn when she heard the sound of rushing water. Her eyes grew wide. Before she could move, a wave of water came crashing down into their hiding place.
Coughing and sputtering, Hal reached the surface and paddled frantically to find something to hold onto. She heard Thorn yell to get into the vent and grasped the metal side of it. But that was all she could do. Her muscles were burning, her head was still pounding from the use of her power, and she needed to sleep. She just couldn't do it.
Hal looked up at Thorn - so determined, wanting them all to escape. "I'm sorry," she whispered. Then she let go.
The current snagged Hal and dragged her down, twisting and turning till she couldn't tell which way was up. She rushed through many chambers, lit and unlit. Every time she surfaced, the current pulled her down again.
Finally she clanged against a metal grille. Hal waited for it to give way, then began to panic as it didn't move and the current didn't let up. She scrabbled against it frantically, trying to find air fruitlessly. Black started to eat at the corners of her vision.
Just before Hal lost consciousness, she thought, It wasn't supposed to be like this. And I'll do everything in my power to make sure it's not.
***
Her chattering teeth woke her. That, and the uncontrollable shivering.
Hal pushed herself up from a cold metal floor to a wall that was no warmer. It might even have been colder. Hal waved a hand in front of her face, but couldn't see it.
Have I gone blind? she wondered with a trace of fear. But the moment passed when she heard Tylor's question. So it wasn't just her.
"I kinda wish I had it," she called to Brynn. "Humans lose most of their heat through their heads, you know." That gave her an idea. Pulling off her soaked jean jacket, Hal wrung it out as best she could and put it over head. It was uncomfortably wet and cold for a minute, but soon grew lukewarm from the heat she was losing. Good thing I have my shoes on, too, Hal thought. Those are heat sinks too, and I wouldn't want my skin to stick to the floor.

((I was under the impression we had separate cells. I can change this if we're in together.))

Charlie was still trying to figure out exactly what was going on when the gas cans exploded. She started feeling strangely drowsy, and her eyelids would not stay open. She tried unsuccessfully to lift her head, and she was dimly aware that one of the guards had scooped her up in his arms. She tried to fight him off, but her body had staged a mutiny, and all she could manage was a few weak twitches. She drifted off to sleep, slowly becoming unaware of everything, including the pain where she had sliced her foot.
***

"Jack?"
With a groan, Charlie rolled over in her hard bed and tried to shut out Alice's voice and the little bit of sunlight coming from the single, high window, attempting futilely to go back to sleep, to return to the wonderful dream she was having. To continue kissing Gerard Way...
After five minutes, she gave up, realizing that it was too late, that she was too awake to sleep until tonight. She sat up gingerly, aware that her entire body felt...tingly. Like that juice from yesterday had felt on her lips. Only now it was coursing through her veins, and she could even feel it through her brain. It made her feel a little foggy, like it had dampened one of her senses. Only it hadn't. She could see, hear, feel, smell and taste just fine, as far as she could tell. It just felt like something was missing...
As Charlie pondered, a thought struck her. If that stuff was doing anything to her, it must mean that she HAD been tampered with like the rest of them, that she DID have a 'superpower.' But what was it? She sort of fit in for the first time in her life, and now she stood out because of the way she fit in. Ah, the irony. Now she really wanted to figure out what her 'gift' was. But how? All she could think was to ask someone. To ask Alice. She had been here for a while, and it was definitely preferable to asking that Dawn girl, and she had heard Alice across the hall a few minutes ago...
Charlie stood up to walk out of her room, and then almost sat down when her foot started hurting. Oh, yeah. She had cut it yesterday when she ran into Dawn. Charlie walked gingerly to the door she thought was the right one, attempting to stay out of the guards' line of sight. With a soft knock, she opened the door and saw that, yes, this was the right door. She also saw that Jack and Alice had turned to her with shocked expressions like she had interrupted a very private conversation.
"Oops, sorry. I'll, uh, just go, then...yeah..."

Darkness surrounded her as Thorn slowly came to, lying with her back against something.......very cold, and it was making her shiver. Wherever she was (for she refused to open her eyes) was making her shiver uncontrollably, and gave her a strange deja vu feeling. She also felt very sore; it felt like she had just ran a thousand marathons, and she realized that moving just a tiny bit sent waves of pain to course throughout her body. But what-?

Then it hit her, and she groaned in both pain and anger and hit her head aganist the hard floor lightly; they were in a cell, or cells, it was hard to tell, but something about the atmosphere was not calming, which could only mean that they were in the Doc's clutches again. But was it a real feeling, or false?

When she finally did open her eyes, it took her a moment to see if she really opened them or not, but then realized that it was the darkness of the room. She could hear faint voices in the background; the others that had followed her. So they were all trapped again, but now each in different cells that were freezing to the bone (she began to wish she wore a longer skirt). One said something about a game, another mentioned hair, or so she could BARELY make out of it. It took her a few moments before the Red Skies member could feel her own consciousness enough to sit up and lean against the wall. Big mistake; it was colder when she shifted, so she shifted back to her spot and lay sprawed out on the floor, saying nothing and trying to conserve heat.

She wondered what happened to the others, ones not in here; were they all captured, or did some escape for real? Either way, she began to feel it her fault that the rest were in here; if it wasn't for her opening hte vent, they'd all be in the rooms right now.

But no matter what, she vowed to get out of here alive. The Doc WILL pay...somehow.

((Edited for post below. I kinda wrote it so it'd go both ways anyways, but now it's clearer. xd ))

Felicia tried to gather her thoughts enough to open her eyes, but it was hard; her mind was sluggish and foggy, making it difficult to hold onto any sort of thought for long. Slowly she opened her eyes a little but they fell closed again as her exaughsted body fought to stay asleep. Felicia lay still for several moments, tempted to just lay and sleep some more. Finally she made her heavy lids open half-way, letting her eyes adjust as her head throbbed. Slowly she turned her head to the side, scanning her surroundings. Well, it looks like I'm locked in my room..again. She thought with groggy irritance. Felicia moved so that she was akwardly laying on her side, feeling dizzy and faint as she tried to sit. But her whole body felt heavy and instead she rolled off onto the hard floor, the wind blowing out of her in a breathless curse. She laid there on her stomach, her face pressed against the cool floor, content to stay there rather then try to stand.

Alice felt confused for a moment. Faltering, everything seemed jumbled. She wanted to be mad at Jack. He betrayed her, lied to her face; when all she ever did was befriend him and care about him. Through the jumble of emotions, she felt some that didn’t fit. They were foreign to her mind.
Alice’s brows furrowed in concentration as she tried to decipher her own feelings. Jack was staring at her intensely. She could feel his gaze boring into her.
Why do I have these weird calm feelings…surely Jack.. Alice’s eyes widened and her expression changed rapidly.
“You b*****d!!!!” She shouted at him. Rage flooding her mind like a poison. She had figured it out, not only could Jack feel emotions, he can influence them. Alice’s steel grey eyes flashed to his, they seemed a little shock too. Had he not been aware of what he was doing?
Alice pushed it from her mind; she didn’t want to be reasonable right now. Rational wasn’t in her vocabulary at the moment. She took a step toward him as her fury burned on like a wild fire. Jack winced at the influx of strong emotion. His hands were raised, as if trying to show he meant no harm.
“Alice…I didn’t-“
“Shut up.” She cut him off, her voice almost a growl.
“You lied to me…Why Jack? Does it really mean more than-” She stopped herself mid sentence. Frozen in place, her eyes were distant; thinking about her words. Why would she mean more then drugs to him? They hadn’t known each other long at all. But for some reason she felt drawn to him.
Her eyes met his again; the anger was fading into pain.
I’m just another face in the crowd to him… Alice thought glumly. She was once again reminded that she was on her own. Alone, like always.
“Goodbye Jack.” Alice said as she turned towards the door when it abruptly opened, making her jump a little.
“Oops, sorry. I'll, uh, just go, then...yeah..." Said Charlie awkwardly.
Alice was the first to recover.
“Oh it’s ok, I was just um leaving.” She said as she scooted Charlie from the room, trying to keep the pain from her voice.
I needed to talk to her anyways…
Once they were out of the room, Alice realized she was crying. This didn’t happen often and actually confused her for a moment.
“You alright Alice?” Charlie asked.
“Yeah, I’m…um..fine.” Charlie raised an eyebrow as Alice wiped a tear away.
“Really, I’m just in some pain that’s all. From the fight and stuff…” Technically Alice wasn’t lying. But she still felt bad.
Alice suddenly felt a cold big hand on her shoulder.
“Hey! It’s lock down Alice, you know the rules.” Said a strong male voice. Alice rolled her eyes.
“Yeah Thanks Captain Obvious. I’m just helping Charlie here. Do you mind?”
The guard looked down at her like he was going to knock her one but thought better of it.
“Fine but not too long.”
“Gee thanks, your so kind.” The guard suddenly grabbed Alice’s arm, hard.
“Watch it Alice. We may take your sarcasm and attitude lightly, but these new guys aren’t so kind.” Alice looked into the Guard’s eyes searching for a motive, but found no malice.
“Thanks Jimmy, but I’m a big girl.” She brushed it off, was James recruiting? Would there be a mutiny? If there was, it might work to their advantage.
“Come on Charlie lets go talk.” Alice said as she herded the girl towards her room.

((Sorry all, I just started school again so that was keeping me busy.))

The jacket on her head and staying in one place helped. Slowly Hal grew, if not warm, then at least not in danger of freezing. Which let her turn her attention to her other problem: sleeping.
Hal knew it was dangerous to fall asleep in the cold, let alone in a freezing metal cell belonging to an insane doctor that experimented on you. But the big meal she'd had, along with the draining adrenaline from the fight afterward and the traces of sleeping gas still in her system, were having an effect on her.
"Not good," Hal muttered to the frost-covered wall beside her. She raised a hand and began to scratch pictures in the frost using her fingernails, but it wasn't much fun drawing something you couldn't see.
"Stories then," Hal said aloud. Raising her voice, she said, "Anybody have some good stories we can tell? Fairy tales, biographies, anything."

“Goodbye Jack.”
Those two small words cut through him and left him stunned, unable to move as Alice left him. The door slammed shut and the sound echoed harshly around the room, reminding him of its emptiness. He stood unmoving for some time, immersed in the silence of the room and the tumult of the waves of emotions that wailed like banshees in his mind. The contrast was maddening, and soon he was reduced to curling up in his bed kicking at the sheets in agitation.
He could still feel her. Jack could still feel the wisps of Alice’s emotions like the gentle pulsing of a lake on its banks. He wondered why he felt the need to stay connected to her even now.
Jack rolled onto his side and fumbled for the pill bottle. The lights in the room buzzed and burned brighter as he shot up, the orange mockery clutched in his hands. He glared down at it, feeling torn.
If he threw it away would Alice forgive him? If he showed her that this was not the real Jack, would she come back?
The room suddenly felt so much colder without her. She was his only friend here. His only friend anywhere. He had to get her back.
How many times had he repeated this same game in his life, he wondered? How many times did he tell himself he was better than this just to forget it all and crawl back? What made this situation any different?
In a burst of anger Jack growled and threw the medicine bottle against the wall. The plastic cracked but didn’t split, bouncing off the heavy door and rolling back toward him. He tried to ignore it, clutching his head in his hands, but he could still feel it there, just as he could feel Alice crying in the other room.

I walk with shadows
(you have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(the questions I will never say)

Draconis vaguely had a recollection of being next to Felicia in the cafeteria, then... nothing. What had happened? Well, I remember the smoke bombs, he thought. Well, crap. They did that, didn't they? Smoked them out and captured them. His stomach roiled at the thought of being manhandled and physically manipulated when he could do nothing to protect himself. Along with the acid in his stomach, he felt somewhat like he was still paralyzed. He could move slightly, he noted, twitching his fingers and toes. But his entire body felt like pins and needles if he moved. Good God, was that what the gas did to them?

And what of Felicia? Did she get away? Draconis wasn't sure. ...THE KEYS! Using all the strength he could muster under the paralysis of whatever this was, he crooked his arm and patted one of the front pockets of his pants. Jangle, clink. Ah ha! They hadn't taken the keys! Though while being practically incapacitated, he couldn't do much with them except file his fingernails. But at least he had them! This haze had to wear off soon, after all. He had the strength to smirk slightly, and then crinkled his nose when something tickly rubbed against it.

Oh, they took my hair down, he realized. Well, I suppose I could've used that hair tie to hang myself... After thinking about it like that, it didn't seem so unreasonable, but now he had no hair tie. Oh, well. After lying there for a little while longer, the adrenaline rush from finding the keys and such wore off, and sleep was trying to take hold of him again.

((No problem about school. I've been working a bunch of twelve-hour shifts so that I can get as much money as possible to pay for school, which starts up for me in about two weeks...Isn't college grand?))

From Jack's hurt expression, and Alice's combination of anger and both physical and emotional pain, Charlie didn't really believe that Alice was fine. Charlie followed her anyway, because she really needed some answers. In the hall, Chralie was barely aware of a rather large shadow behind them when he suddenly put his hand on Alice's shoulder. Charlie whirled around in time to see him start to tell Alice off.

“Hey! It’s lock down Alice, you know the rules.”

“Yeah. Thanks, Captain Obvious. I’m just helping Charlie here. Do you mind?” The guard shot Alice a menacing look, but then he caved.

“Fine, but not too long.”

“Gee, thanks, you're so kind.” Alice's response was full of sarcasm, and Charlie would have started sniggering if the guard had not suddenly grabbed Alice's arm and spoken to her very seriously, almost pleading.

“Watch it Alice. We may take your sarcasm and attitude lightly, but these new guys aren’t so kind.” Alice paused a moment, searching the guard's expression, looking for a reason to keep treating him like an annoyance, but she obviously didn't feel liek he was messing around, because she said:

“Thanks Jimmy, but I’m a big girl. Come on Charlie, let's go talk.” As Alice ushered her into another room, Charlie looked back at Jimmy. He was watching them with a fair amount of concern in his expression. Now why in the world...? As the door closed behind them, there was one question that this encounter had reminded her of.

"So, do you know all the guards? The old ones at least."

"Yeah, pretty much. It's hard not to after the first year or so..."

"The first year?"

"Yeah, I'm giong on two or thereabouts now."

"Wow." I hope I know what happened to me by the time I've been here for that long...
"Hey, um, Alice, I had a question. I've noticed that everyone (well, everyone that I've seen) seems to have figured out what our mad genius 'friend' did to them. But I haven't yet. Which, ironically, makes me feel left out. Or at least more left out than usual, because this is the first time that I've been included in something, and now I don't know why I've been included. So I guess, my point is, how does one go about figuring out his or her 'gift'?"

No, you are fine so far.
Just keep doing your thing.
It was the patients that got washed away that are in their own cells.
