Now Takeshi was excited. Now that he had completed the hand seal practice, he could move on to the actual jutsu practice. With the hand seals down, all he had to do was focus on his chakra control. "Oh, crap. Chakra control," he thought. He was not very good at charkra control at all. In fact, he stunk at trying to control his chakra. But this jutsu was fairly simple, with not much chakra that needed controlling. So he pushed the thought of his handicap with chakra control and proceeded to say, "Alright! I don't need to see the Syllabus scroll to know what to do next. Bunshin no Jutsu!"

Unfortunately, he failed to create anything, just short of the chakra control he needed. Instead, all that happened was a large cloud of smoke exploded in front of Takesh, blackening his face with dust, and causing him to cough once the smoke had cleared.

The second part of the training would be to create the actual clones by using the learned handseals. To successfully create a clone, the student would have to have a total DC of 5. With every interval of 5, the student would make a clone.
5 = 1 clone (-1cp)
10 = 2 clones (-2cp)
15 = 3 clones (-3cp)
20 = 4 clones (-4cp)
If a student only has 3 CP, then he cannot create 4 clones, even if his total roll is 20. Resting for one post will gain back +2 Cp (temporary, only for this lesson). They must successfully complete the Jutsu 4 times, regardless of how many clones they create.

Yarotai continued his laughing as the explosian of smoke rose up, as similar occurance to is first attempt at the Bunshin. The man placed his hands on hips and looked down at the boy with a huge grin on his face. He always enjoyed seeing people struggle to learn things for two very important reasons. The first being that it meant once they did learn it, they will have earned it. The second being that he had struggled through every lesson he had done as well. Though he didn't hold it against anyone that was, he wasn't the biggest fan of prodigies.

"Don't be so forceful with you chakra Mr Giggles. You need to know where it all is, especially for this jutsu. The clones are pure chakra so you need to know how your system works in order to make theirs."

Ironically, even if Sa-chan's little brother didn't look very much like his typical clansman, the boy sighed like a tired old man, like a Nara male. It was the kind of sigh they made when annoyed or bothered. So maybe her gut was right after all, maybe he was trying to avoid her after all.

"Hrm. That's too bad."

And a little bit convenient. Okay, so no milk and no pork this time. And ditching training to go eat had seem like such a good idea too. Oh well. She will take the kid up on the rain check offer, later. Maybe tomorrow. But she still couldn't leave the kid alone right now while he was all gloomy. Maybe she should try for a different approach.

"So what'cha doin' right now, boy? Looks like a pretty interesting jutsu. What's it called?"

Even if Chouko didn't know what the glowing paper no jutsu was, or how to do it. But it seemed like it was one of the causes for his long sigh. Maybe she could help the kid out. She was his sempai after all, and leaf-nin took care of leaf-nin.

Rhaim didn't expect for the girl to leave him alone just because he said that he wasn't hungry. After all she was more than likely simply spying on his progress to report back his failures to his sisters. It seemed that they were getting much more bold in their surviellence of him lately. He wondered if it was because he was contantly moving from one area to another to conduct his training. That had to be tiring and annoying to anyone that was following and watching him. Perhaps this was their way of telling him to stay put so that they could analyze him easier. Though he didn't want to, the Nara child released yet another sigh at his over active mind. He really wanted a nap.

"I'm waiting for the exams to start senpai. I figured I'd try out the Jibaku Fuda: Kassei in the mean time."

It was clearly a test. How could a genin not know what the exploding tag jutsu was? It was such a common technique and it wasn't like the exploding tags could be mistaken for anything else. Obviously his sisters meant to add insult to injury on this one.

Jibaku Fuda: Kassei, (Exploding Tag: Activate)

Takeshi quickly wiped his face of the dust and dirt with his sleeve. "I'm not very good with my chakra control anyway. I spent my time training my physical strength and not on my chakra system. I prefer physical combat." Nontheless, Takeshi tried again to perform the Bunshin no Jutsu, now a bit more familiar with the process, having experienced it first hand. He concentrated, and could feel the chakra pulsating through him. He closed his eyes, having memorized the hand seals by heart, to focus on his chakra system. "Bunshin no Jutsu!" Takeshi did succeed, but he only made one clone. Soon after he created it, it poofed out of existance; Takeshi didn't have the chakra control to keep it going for too long. After all, it was his first time.

Yarotai slapped his knee and nodded his head happily at the boys succesfully made clone. It may have only been one but it was well made and definately to standard for the lesson. If he kept it up at that rate he'd be a master of the jutsu in no time. Well as much of a master as an Academy Student could be expected to be.

"Good. Now this time put alittle more effort into evening out your chakra flow. It'll make the use of it more efficient and improve you output. And don't get down if you can't figure it out at first. Manipulating chakra is slightly different for everyone so only you can really know what's going on inside of you. Well, and a Hyuuga."

As the emerald light gently surrounding her palms disappeared...

"That is the Shosen no Jutsu, the chakra scapel technique." Explained Yokou. "You might have seen Minor Chakra Heal in action a couple of times (most of our village Jounin are required to learn that for emergencies) but the Shosen requires by far greater and more precise chakra control. We who bear the insignia of the medical order must learn this, and it is oft used for surgeries. Think of it as like acupuncture, as it is dangerous when handled by the inexperienced."

The Shosen, after all, besides healing could just as easily snap muscles and tendons. She gestured aside. "Our eyes are not just for war, Tairu-kun. We are blessed with the gift to excel beyond any other in the medical arts. Those who do not have the sight, craves to see, but what use is the sight in the hands of those who do not know how to use it?" There was a soft pause.

"Speak not of destiny: you are still yet too young. As you grow, and with the wax and wane of the moon reach your prime, open your arms to all possible futures, not just one. Who knows? Who knows..." Her voice softly trailed off. "With the years, you may not be the same person you are today. Infant dreams are all too easily crushed, yet some too fulfilled, but new dreams will take their place."

"Come then, let us begin."

...

"Our kekkai genkai is special, because we do not need to meet the same requirements of the Uchiha clan's Sharingan to force our limit to awaken, or wait unknowing with years as Senju does, because of their thinning bloodline..." She grimaced slightly there. Now Tairu will know why the clan was so hell-bent on keeping the bloodline pure. Because the Byakugan, like most advanced kekkai genkais, is a recessive trait.

"The Hyuuga is superior in our chakra control, we do not utilize seals in our arts because they are mere aiding tools. The Elders in the clan do not even require seals to activate the Byakugan. But with the harnessing aid of seals, we are actually capable of forcing the Doujutsu to surface with chakra control alone, and thus, the young generation is blessed with their limit gift early."

"In addition to the seals of the zodiac, there are five special seals also used. The harnessing of the elements utilize the seals of the zodiac, but the harnessing of nature utilize the seals of sutras." She reached into the pockets of her simple yukata here, and gave to the boy a book on the onmyoji seals.

And she continued.

"To activate the Byakugan, the standard sequence goes Kiri, Dragon, Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, and Ram. Sometimes a little variation is used here and there. The twelve-sequence seals you see mostly from the members of our family who are Chuunins or so. But, in actuality, if you perfect your command of chakra control early, you can cut off at any of the seals: Kiri, Tiger, or Ram and force activation there (note: at any of those three seals, it is possible to initialize Byakugan activation)."

She paused there.

"But, because as a Genin you do not possess such control, those your age would use the twenty-four seal sequence to force the Byakugan to surface. Thus, when you reach the Om seal, instead of proceeding to the final generally expected seal - the Ram - you will instead begin at Kiri for the twelve seal and the sequence will proceed and then end with the twenty-fourth seal, Kiri."

"Any questions?"

Total Successes Required: 60
Part 1
Description: The first part of beginning the Jyuuken Kempo is quite simple. In order to increment Jyuuken Kempo's combative efficiency, obviously, the duration the Byakugan remains active must increase. Thus, this part is similar to a more advance chakra burning activity: Yokou will teach the seals for the Byakugan, you must commit them to memory. Note that all italicized seals are cut-off points that Byakugan activation could be attempted on. Om is used to restart a seal sequence pattern until reaching either twenty-four or forty-eight. As a Genin you will always end up using Kiri as a cut-off seal by performing the twenty-four or forty-eight pattern sequence.

In the Book...

The Seals (Yokou's notes are italicized)

Om: Composed of three phonemes, a, u, and m variously symbolizing the Three Vedas or the Hindu Trimurti (the three stages in life: birth, life, and death). The concept of om, called onkar in Punjabi is found in Sikh theology as a symbol of God. It emphasizes God’s singularity, as in One Omkara (the Aum is One), stating that the multiplicity of existence symbolized by the aum symbol is really founded in a singular God. The Mandukya Upanishad, the shortest of the Upanishads, the scriptures of the Hindu Vedanta is prose consisting of twelve verses dedicated to the explanation of the mystical symbol Aum: the three psychological states of waking, dreaming, and sleeping and the fourth state of illumination. Aum is primarily used in profound religious meditation. The highest spiritual efficacy is being attributed not only to the whole word but also to the three sounds a (a-kāra), u (u-kāra), m (ma-kāra), of which it consists. A-kara means form or shape like earth, trees, or any other object. U-kara means formless or shapeless like water, air or fire. Ma-kara means neither shape nor shapeless (but still exists) like the dark matter in the Universe.

The Om variation for the hands simply has the middle finger of the left touching the thumb of the right, having the hands form an "infinity" insignia shape.

For the wielders of the Byakugan, Om is fundamental in energy building, and younger generation members who are incapable of activating the Byakugan with the twelve-sequence seals instead use Om to link the following pattern of seals. Note than sometimes, novice practitioners may even take forty-eight seals, repeating the pattern four times, in order to activate the Byakugan. With increased mastery over the chakra system and consequentially the Byakugan, it is expected that the amount of seals necessary would decrease, until Om is no longer present in the handseal sequence.

Vajra: Vajra is a Sanskrit word meaning both thunderbolt and diamond. In Hindu mythology, the Vajra is the weapon of Indra, the king of Devas: the Vedic god of rain, lightning, and the sky. Vajra represents the destruction of ignorance. In tantric rituals, on the statues, the Vajra symbolizes male principle which represents method in the right hand and the Bell symbolizes the female principle, which is held in the left hand. The Vajra symbol itself is made up of several parts: in the center is a sphere which represents Sunyata, the primordial nature of the universe, the underlying unity of all things. Emerging from the sphere are two eight-petalled lotus flowers: one represents the phenomenal world (or Samsara), the other represents the noumenal world (or Nirvana). This is one of the fundamental dichotomies which are perceived by the unenlightened. Arranged equally around the mouth of the lotus are two, four, or eight mythical creatures called makaras. These are mythological half-fish, half-crocodile creatures made of two or more animals, often representing the union of opposites (or a harmonization of qualities that transcend our usual experience). From the mouths of the makaras are tongues that come together at a certain point.

The five-pronged Vajra (with four makaras plus a central prong) is the most commonly seen Vajra. The onmyōjis use this as a method of meditation: this is an elaborate system of correspondence between the five elements of the noumenal side of the Vajra, and the phenomenal side. One important concept is the relationship of the five poisons to the five wisdoms of an enlightened mind: desire to the wisdom of individuality (represented by the Buddha Amitabha), anger and hate to the mirror-like wisdom (represented by the Buddha Akshobhya), delusion to the wisdom of reality (represented by the Buddha Vairocana), greed and pride to the wisdom of equanimity (represented by the Buddha Ratnasambhava), and envy to the all-accomplishing wisdom (represented by the Buddha Amoghasiddhi). When the impurity of the five poisons are removed, then one can reach the state of Enlightenment through obtaining the five wisdoms.

The handseal version of Vajra looks like the Snake seal, except extending the thumbs below to form the other "prong" of the vajra.

Dharma: Dharma is a concept used to explain the ultimate truth of the universe (or higher truth). The word literally translates to that which upholds or supports (law). In the Rig veda (Hinduism), the belief (or observation) that a natural justice and harmony pervades the natural world becomes manifest in the concept of rta, which is both ‘nature’s way’ and the order implicit in nature. Thus Dharma bears semblance to an ancient Chinese concept of tao and the Heraclitan or stoic conception of the logos. This power that lies behind nature and which keeps everything in balance became a natural forerunner to the idea of Dharma: Dharma is not just law, or harmony, but pure Reality.

The Vajra and the Dharma represents the contemplative insight of the Byakugan. There is no set handseal for Dharma: traditionally, a pause in the seal sequence represents Dharma, though some clansmen prefers to put in a physical replacement, and substitutes the Tori (Bird) seal.

Kiri: From the Japanese Mikkyo traditions that the healing art of Tenchi Seikei Te-Ate received its more mythical principles including practices involving the use of shingon/jumon (mantras), nenriki (visualizations of symbols, mandalas) and in-zou/ketsu-in (mudras are mythical ‘finger weavings’, special ritual gestures formed by knotting the fingers in various complex patterns). This triple discipline of shingon/nenriki/in-zou is generally referred to as the sammitsu or the Three Secrets (alternatively Three Mysteries) leading the pathway to Enlightenment. This is also practiced in meditation, and when done properly, the kuji-in is a very potent technique traditionally used by the mystics, warriors, priests, and shamanic practitioners alike. The discipline thus is not only a method for Enlightenment but also a means of developing and empowering special abilities: from enhanced physical coordination, to control of pain, to powers of exorcism or healing, to increased intuitive and psychic sensitivity, to the induction of shamanic visionary states. There are said to be eighty-one different ways of entwining the fingers. The practice of kuji-in is said to be the root foundation of the shinobi handseals.

Inextricably linked with the kuji-in is the technique of kuji-kiri, the cutting of the nine signs/lines (kiri means to cut). Kuji-in employs the fingers to focus, kuji-kiri employs a grid of nine lines: each representing one of the nine finger signs and their attributes. In the art of Tenchi Seikei Te-Ate, this cross-hatched symbol is used as a means of focusing therapeutic influence. It is drawn (in the air, on the hand, or on a specific area of the body) with a special energy-gesturing hand-form, known as the sword fingers, and is sometimes preceded by the performance of one of the ketsu-in techniques. For the kuji-kiri to be effective the lines must be drawn in the correct order, with the proper focus of seiki (the intent to work) and to complete or seal the specific healing intent of the energy focus a practice known as the placing of a tenth character is used. This involves drawing one of a series of special symbols or characters onto the centre of the now empowered grid.

The expression of the Kiri seal is traditionally simply the extension of the sword fingers (the right index and middle). The villagers tend to believe it is a one-handed Tiger seal, but that is not true.

Shawa: Shawa is the representative seal of life, or rather in this case, the divine wisdom. Like Dharma, Shawa has no set seal: while Dharma is contemplatation, Shawa clears the state of the mind so that the "sight" can find the divination field. Notably, some clansmen replaces the Dragon seal in this pause, to make the seal sequence flow smoother.

Tairu nodded his head in acknowledgment as Yokou-sama spoke. Tairu was failry decent at forming the normal twelve hand seals so he thought that he would do fine with these ones as well. Since it dosen't hurt to practice that is exactly what Tairu decided to do first, practice. Tairu took the book on onmyoji seals and opened it.

First Tairu practiced forming the Om hand seal, he brought his middle finger of the left hand to touch his right thumb as he formed what looked like an infinity symbol. The the Vajra hand seal. He started with a snake seal and then transformed it into the Vajra hand seal. After the Vajra came the Dharma, Tairu stopped a slight bit of confusion on his face as he read Yokou-sama's notes. Tairu decided he would use the Tori hand seal for now instead of leaving a gap. Then the Kiri hand seal; Tairu formed what appeared to be a one handed tiger seal but it was actually the Kiri. Finally the Shawa, once more Tairu swapped in another seal for a gap. This Time it was the dragon seal.

"Thank you so much for all of this information Yokou-sama"

"I think I'm ready to start training."

Tairu raised his hands and focused on his chakra control. Kiri, Dragon, Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri | Dragon, Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri, Dragon | Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri, Dragon, Vajra | Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri, Dragon, Vajra, Tiger Tairu thought as he created each seal.

"Byakugan!" Tairu said as he flawless executed the 48 hand seal sequence.

The veins that Tairu felt earlier bulged on his head except this time there was no pain. He could see chakra all around them and the amount he saw inside Yokou-sama was so much greater than what he had seen earlier with Takeshi and Miharo-sensei.

Saito's eyes widened as he grabbed the scroll. He nodded as the an spoke and slowly opened it. Examining it, he blinked a bit more.

After a minute of muttering to himself him rolled the scroll back up and tossed it back to the Chuunin. "Thank-you, sensei.", he said with respect and bowed a bit. He didn't need it anymore, he had memorized every thing, down to the letter.

Saito sighs quietly, closing his eyes. 'Dragon, we'll try the hand-sign of the dragon first.'. His bright eyes opened as he slowly moved his hands together. The thumbs were in a fourty-five degree angle, one behind the other. Right in the front. The fingers were criss-crossed. He examined his fingers, matching it with the portrait in his mind, he hadn't moved his pinkies together. He moved them out and moved his hands apart. 'Let's try it.', he thought.

Saito moved his fingers together and looked down. 'Oops, wrong hand was dominant.', he chuckled, moving his arms away. He imagined himself doing something like this when he was older and shivered.

Saito coughed a bit as he closed his eyes. He really shouldn't be stupid to make such a mistake. Of course he'd never done these, it shouldn't be hard. He smiled at himself; who would switch hands like that?

The boy sighed deeply, then took a breath, cleaning his mind, focusing. This was hand-sign practice, but he also needed to learn to watch such little actions. He parted his hands. The image of the dragon hand-sign popped in his head as he opened his eyes. 'Dragon!', he thought, bringing his hands together.

The young student looked down to see his hands together just like the image in his head. His first hand-sign, the dragon!

'Now just eleven more.', he smirked to himself. 'Ox seems rather difficult...', he continued to ponder, the image forming in his mind.

Takeshi was excited to see that he had created his first clone, but he wasn't done yet. According to the syllabus scroll, he had to perform the jutsu three more times, though it didn't matter how many clones one created. He rested for a second to regain his breath; creating the clone was a little tiring. Once he felt rested, Takeshi tried again to perform the Bunshin no Jutsu. This time, Takeshi paid attention to how much chakra he was using to form each clone, trying to balance it out as best as he could. "Bunshin no Jutsu!" he yelled and performed the hand seals that were necessary for the jutsu, while channeling his chakra to form the clone. He again was only able to form one clone, and this time he struggled more than last time. His chakra control was shaky at best, and without Yarotai's help, Takeshi might not have been able to get through the training at all.
Bunshin no Jutsu Part 2
The second part of the training would be to create the actual clones by using the learned handseals. To successfully create a clone, the student would have to have a total DC of 5. With every interval of 5, the student would make a clone.

Yarotai took the scroll back from the child and placed it back into his backpack. Either the kid had a really good memory or he didn't quite realise that he was supposed to hang onto the thing. It was pretty apparent that this new child wanted to talk to the teacher even less than the Uchiha did. However he didn't look like he wanted or needed any assistence, so he'd wait until the kid looked lost or asked for something. There were at least two more instances that he'd have to speak to the Chuunin, though he suspected that even then it'd be brief and driect.

Takeshi had managed to create another clone, which was better than some but not near as good as others had done. It was sort of odd to see an Uchiha that admitted to being bad at ninjutsu, that was supposed to be their forte after all.

"Alright Mr Giggles, keep focused on where you're molding your chakra and where you're distributing it to after that. Keep your eyes closed so that you don't get distracted by physical things."

Yes, I got all 48 hand seals right on my first try and my Byakugan activated!

Tairu was filled with joy as he activated his Byakugan by will and not accident. "Yokou-sama thank you for your assistance; it is greatly appreciated." Tairu told her. Of course now it was time to shut it of and try again. Tairu willfully released his Byakugan and then mentally prepared himself to do it. I know I can do this, it's not 48 hand seals it's only the same twelve repeating.

Tairu quickly repeated the the 48 hand seal combination over and over in his mind as he practiced with is hands. When he was satisfied Tairu Firmly planted his feat and then unleashed the hand seals.

"Byakugan!" Tairu yelled as he finished the seals.

Once more the veins on around Tairu's eyes bulged out as he activated the Byakugan for the second time in the training. The veins were becoming a familiar feeling; as was the image of the world seen through the Byakugan. Yes, I'm going to master my Byakugan in no time at this rate!

Saito closed his eyes, imagining the ox sign in his head. One needed to open the right palm, horizantally. The other hand would come from the bottom, lacing with the finger. Now, the index finger and pinky needed to bend over the other hand while the other two fingers stayed up.

He moved his hands together, and closed his eyes, reviewing the rather complex hand-sign in his hand. "Yarotai sensei, please forgive me, but if I seem flawed, correct me.", he said in a calm, focused voice. "I cannot say I'm talented like the Uchiha clan.", he continued in the tone and nodded to his fellow student. He sighed once more, 'Ox!', he thought, moving his hands together in an instant.

Saito held is breath for an instant before examining his seal. It seemed right, as well as the picture in the scroll. Though he believed this was 'perfect', he was sure there was a flaw. Though he did his sign right, he took too long. He'll need to keep practicing later. Speed was crucial in jutsu.

Tairu had activated his Byakugan through the hand seals for the second time in a row. Almost immediately after activating it Tairu deactivated his Byakugan. Tairu was feeling good after two success and was quite eager to try again. I'm doing good so far, and I think I've got the hand seal sequence down pat. Always the hard worker Tairu prepared himself to try and activate the Byakugan a third time with the same effort as the second time. He mentally ran the sequence of hand seals through his mind and then physically practiced them. After his practice Tairu was ready to try again.

As he formed each hand seal in the 48 hand seal sequence Tairu could see them in his mind; Kiri, Dragon, Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri | Dragon, Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri, Dragon | Vajra, Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri, Dragon, Vajra | Tiger, Ram, Dharma, Shawa, Dharma, Horse, Tiger, Om, Kiri, Dragon, Vajra, Tiger!

As he reached the final hand seal Tairu yelled Byakugan!"

The familiar feeling of his optical veins appeared again as Tairu activated his Byakugan for the third time in a row using the 48 hand seal sequence. Tairu was feeling on top of the world and he was feeling a satisfaction that he hadn't felt in a long time.
