It amused her to no end, their conversation. But she was also pleased by the fact that Des was on her side...be it for selfish reasons or not. "That sort of chasing aside, if you don't use your wings they'll just become weak and shrivel up, maybe fall off. And I'm not lying." With that argument settled however she removed the rope from around his neck and looped it around his ankle, checking where the rope and chain were connected as well to make sure the knots were tight enough. "You need your tail to fly so I won't tack you by that. First more food, then we're going to hang you off the side on the boat by a pole so you can learn how the wind works with your wings. Des is in charge of that too."

And he sat down on the deck, looking at the rope around his ankle, and Des went back downstairs to fetch food...and came up with as much as she could hold, and putting it down and gathering it about, to which he started feeding himself, and she started looking about for a pole strong and big enough to support him.

"I dunno if we have a pole for that. not much use for a pole on a ship."

"A board, the mast, anything that he can be suspended from. I don't care what it is really. The point is that he learn the feel of the wind and such so he can learn to work with it. Sooner he learns to fly the better but it is not a quick process. I'm trying to do for you all something that usually takes weeks to learn for dragonlings."

"Oh, well in that case..."

and picking up the chain end of the rope and dragging hunter with quick pace up the main mast, using her claws on the wood rather then the rigging, and looping and securing the tether to the far end of the mast. and then just letting him swing there. before taking a glide and hefting him up.

"Okay now. your wings are like sails, they need the wind to move you along. your tail works like your rudder. get a feel for the wind flowing over your wings, the updrafts and the currents. don't fight them, let your wings do what they know to do."

still holding on to him, and glancing down.

"You body knows how to fly, how to move. your brain doesn't. so let your body do what it knows to do, and let your brain just take notes. Think happy thoughts, distract yourself from trying to think about what your doing other then how it works. don't try to fly on your own, just let the muscle memories of Taerin do that for you. but something of his to good use."

After the indignity of being dragged up adn hung upside down until desdemona righted him, and listening and letting her talk...oh think happy thoughts hmm? like beat both these dragon women with blunt heavy objects for humiliating him half the time? that was a nice one. or how about setting a certain little star eyed pest on fire?

and when she left go and landed on the mast, idly holding on to the end of his tether, he was distracted thinking of all the beating and mean spirited things he wanted to inflict to try and force his flight, and like desdemona said, the body was already well trained to it, and working on the muscles memory and instinct it's former occupant had developed.

Cyvalor took the scale and held it protectively in his hands as he watched the older dragons for a moment. Fellnathir received a nuzzle for her affection and then he watched, wide-eyed as Taerin couldn't seem to get the hang of flying at all. He couldn't help but giggle at their methods either. Turning back to Jae, he popped the scale in his mouth, chewing slowly as he thought about Jae's body in her natural form and how his would look up next to it. And then in a shimmer of golden dust, he was Cyvalor the full dragon once more! Flapping his wings happily, he gave a few barks, nips, and roars in dragonling speak.

"They could indeed, but I'd hold off on the shooting just yet. Unfriendly fire is bad enough but friendly fire is similar to treason. They might be sent by Lycear and the Council with a message for his son." Thobias was the more cautious one, usually lending his expertise in diplomacy to his firebrand partner. "Gentlemen of the Chimera, Captain Nereem has graciously offered her delicious muffins to you if you can all behave like civilized beings instead of swamp rats. You may board her ship, obtain one, and then return to your chores."

"I'm sure they have the ability to do a many miraculous things that we haven't even contemplated yet. Their energy signatures alone are off the charts." Yes, certain parts of his job required a rudimentary knowledge of necromancy. "My sister is a gentle spirit in a world racked by chaos. She loves all she knows, and therefore is a liability. But she doesn't see this and can't fathom someone using her nature for his or her own personal gain. That being said, I'd protect her with my life and anyone she loves has the same as long as they are loyal and true to her." Meaning that it extended to Savryn whether she liked it or not, without saying that in so many words.

Distracted for a moment, he blinked. "Hm? Oh, well she used to get rather excited about shanking things. It was adorable. The idea of killing was like giving candy to a child. And yet she was so innocently cute about that you just had to love her. You are much the same way when it comes to bones and chips and whatnot that you can use for your own measures. That's all." Her announcement made him frown a moment and glance at the heavens. That was the last thing they needed.

The Seon could tell that this group didn't really believe her or understand what they were dealing with. It might seem silly, but it knew a whole lot more than it let on. Areesa bounced a few more times then gave one last giggle. "Ilindal is the only city you'll find and you'll die before you could ever get there. Best to find Lynnie and request her permission before you become sand shark candy! Or Black Barbecue!" And then the bouncing ball of light disappeared.

[]Well, I didn't post because I was waiting for Kitou, but it doesn't look like he's come back yet. Then I was gone for a while for lack of the interwebz, so I'm posting now...sorry guys.[]

Iridia didn't know what the little ball of light was talking about, sand sharks and so on. Though, considering the adventure she had been on the past few days, she doubted it would be too hard to reach...Ilindal was it? Whatever the case, she looked up the side of the tall ship, considering doing what the creature had suggested. After all, what could it hurt?

As the light disappeared, Iridia turned her head to call up the side of the ship, when a dark figure in the distance caught her eye. The silhouette had returned, and her eyes and head turned to face it. It began to walk away, fading into the distance, yet still staying the same size. Looking up the side of the ship one last time, Iridia sighed, and decided to follow it, as she always had.

Desdemona was watching, and listening, and she could sense the old Black's presence though she was choosing right now to ignore it. she didn't know what he was here for and she was hoping she wasn't the subject...but she noticed one of the earlier folks wandering off on her own. Good way to get killed. so might as well do her good deed for the day.

A glide down to the sand and landing by her, folding in her wings and walking alongside.

"So. are we looking for a good place to lay down and die, or did you have a particular destination in mind that you plan to reach before something that lives under the sand chooses to eat you?"

Iridia had hardly noticed the woman beside her at first, so intent on following her hallucination. She turned her head to peer at her before replying, "I will take the chances of dying out here, I suppose. It isn't as though I have any other choice..." she replied her voice trailing off.

Her attention fell to the little affectionate dragonling for a moment, smiling lightly and then back to Des. "Good thing that you're going to take care of that." Fellnathir let Des handle the rest of it, since she seemed to be enjoying the other's torment so much and yes it was amusing. However it was not amusing as Des seemingly got distracted. She just did not go off to play. Finally, after ignoring the white for as long as possible and with the dragonlings successful change she paid attention to the pair. "You can teach him to fly right? I can only handle one dragonling at a time in this instance." Getting a nod she promptly gave a beat of wings to get into the air and came to perch next to a hanging Lazerous on the mast. "Enjoying the feeling yet? THere is nothing better than flying."

"I have it under control, thank you." Being dismissed so easily by now did not phase her and instead of brooding over it she merely turned her attention to Cyvalor happily, rewarding him for his efforts with smiled and leaning down to hug his head as he was excited as could be. "See I knew you could do it! You just needed a tiny bit of help." He was babbling and it was cute. So great there was no language barrier either. "Since things seems to be quiet, I'll just teach you how I was taught." She picked him up despite his form and despite how he was practically big as her from snout to tail. "Captains! We're doing some flying lessons of our own!" Informing them all before hopping off the ship and into the sand with a cloud of silver mist that left her standing in natural form with Cyvalor perched between her horns.

"Okay so this is how I was taugh. All you have to do it hop and start flapping. I'll give you a push with my snout so you go forward. Don't be scared and just keep trying. If you start to go down, you'll land on me and wont' be hurt and I'll just give you a bounce back up again. Got it?"

"Exactly. Why I enjoy her around, my life and myself are simply too much of a danger to her. She feels the need to try and be my eyes and keep me safe, but in doing so forgets to look out for herself as well." It didn't take a scholar to know that he was inferring Savryn with his speech either but she didn't say anything to the effect that she knew such things. He probably knew she did anyway. However it was story time. "And you? Do you still get excited about such things in such a manner?" She vaugly recalled the woman Kelligrin was speaking of but there was no outstanding impression in her mind either. "At the same token, you find me disturbing still in my attitude to such things that I enjoy." She was off putting, but she knew that. His silence though she assumed was spent pondering her revelation. "He's merely watching...I can almost sight-jack him. He's just out of my range though."

She almost pouted at him being her voice of reason. "Oh fine. I'll hold off my guns and my enthusiasm to shoot anything that fits in them, out of them at other things. But anything fishy and that's it." Crossing her arms and shaking her head lightly. "Anyone who can rope swing the gap between ships is welcome and rewarded for their bravery. Everyone else buckle your bootstraps and grow a spine."

"well, you could as for permission to come on board the ships, they travel faster, and there's less dangerous things. I dunno where your heading but it's been weeks sine we've been in a place that can suppliment a human life. and honestly you'll never make it past the glass sea."

though a glance back, she kenw she wasn't supposed to leave him alone like that, but this might prove benifical. if she'd come from ahead of them, she might know the lay of the land, so to speak.

the distraction made him flounder and fall and swing a bit on the tether before regining some semblance of a glide again after swinging doand back and with the momentum of a pendlum.

"It's not sailing a ship, but it does have it's own subtle enjoyments. and where did Des take off to? wasn't she the one thrilled with tethering me to the mast?"

Iridia smiled at the suggestion. "I actually have another goal in mind, but thanks anyway. And besides, I'm not a human," she added, a slight hint of bitterness coming out with her last comment. A chuckle escaped her, "What's the glass sea?"

Iridia was still hungry, but she didn't notice so much now. In a few hours, it would catch back up to her, but her eyes were focused ahead on the silhouetted figure that nobody else could see.

"Shes easily distracted, apparently, and thus I am left to babysit you. I'm not sure in your opinion which of us is the worst to be watching you." Though she did let her tail snake around him some to help him get back into sorts before letting him go to get the feel of the movement for himself. Perched there still she looked up for a time then to him and promptly extended a wing over him, blocking sun off of him. Another reason he couldn't be left alone...he was a big gold beacon to anyone who would look when the sun glinted off of his scales. Everyone was too occupied with the reward to worry about the risks, save her, it seemed.

"the glass sea is a portion of the sandsea that was struck by the Storms so often that the sand became glass, forever trapped in huge spires and frozen waves and arcs. the whole place is insanely hot from teh refracting and reflecting glass and the sun. it can literally cook you in your skin. But I'll not keep you or try to sway your thought from what your present mission is. just offering shelter, food, and faster transportation."

before she headed back shipside, and took a glide up to teh deck and back up to the mast were she perched by Fell.

"Sorry about that, I was hoping to convince her to come along since she came from teh direction we're going she might know something of value."

He took a glance at the wing, and a look around...why was she covering him up? oh yeah. shiny gold scales. bleh like there was anyone here to see them anyhow.

"Well glad to see you back, Des. how much longer do I have to try and keep this up?"
PostPosted: Fri Jan 29, 2010 2:33 pm

"That's rather brash of you to do something like that. You must be awfully confident that you can protect yourself from everything." Strangers of course made her nervous. There was no reason to trust them unless they were useful and what with the other dragons acting up by being easy to spot themselves, she was on edge. Riders could come out of nowhere sometimes. She turned her attention back down to Hunter at what sounded like the beginning of another round of complaining. "Take control and flap your wings and try to fly in a circle. Then I will tell you how long you have to keep it up.

The offer was tempting. It was pretty much what she had been wanting ever since coming across this place. At least, long enough to get some food in her stomach. As if on cue, her stomach growled. Iridia looked back at the ship longingly, but felt a tug at her consciousness. Her eyes went forward, to the direction she was headed, and saw the silhouette waiting for her.

Less appeared from out of her shadow, a low whine turning to a sad growl as she looked up at her mistress. "I know, I need to eat. But..." Less looked in the direction where Iridia's hallucination was at. "Come on, let's go," she said, for the first time in centuries walking away from the black form. Maybe nothing would come of it, she hoped. Even if something did, she had to eat. If she didn't, she wasn't going to make it anywhere.

Walking back toward the ship, Iridia sent a slight wave of feeling toward the dragon-like being that had come down to her. The feeling was hunger, and it was meant to be clear that it was a feeling that belonged to someone else. It was a much more subtle way of drawing attention without shouting up the tall side of the ship.
