Ahh, but the grenade wasn't Reality Enforced. Joe grabbed it with some Wind and slung it right back, just after it left the REF.

Jacob had expected as much. Jacob sidestepped the spikes, no longer attempting to keep them back.
He attempted to shroud the Earthen barricade without exerting too much mana in the hopes that they couldn't manipulate it as well if they couldn't see it.

The Shadowman made a movement that indicated he was probably alarmed by this as he dash for cover. Before he could make it behind a pillar, the grenade detonated, sending fragments into the side of his foot, in a space below the armor plate. A muffled scream came from within the suit. He turned around and braced his arm to shoot a kinetic shell at Joe.

--

Jacob soon surmised they were operating by feel. More and more spikes began to emerge all over the wall.

"H'oshit!" Joe said as he dove out of the line of fire, which was over the edge of the balcony and down, then across to under their balcony.

Paul pulled another grenade, started cooking it, and stayed low and behind cover, ideally to avoid getting SHOT IN THE FACE. By dangerous things. That were dangerous.

Why was everyone else always so much more powerful than they?

Where was Josh and the Titan's Fists?

Jacob sighed and moved away from the wall to avoid becoming impaled. The wall reappeared as Jacob broke contact.
He made his way over to the first gunhole in the wall and approached cautiously, making sure not to get impaled or shot.
He peered inside only if it was safe enough to do so.

Joe learned a painful lesson.

Tyrgani agents dodged bullets because their Augmented Reality Interface superimposed the path of a bullet from the barrel over their vision, like a laser sight in a misty room, allowing them to not enter the bullet's path; this was how they could shoot from the hip with perfect accuracy as well.

Joe had no such interface. He got hit and had a chunk of his fire-matter blown out.

Paul couldn't see Josh. He could, however, see Sebastian. A dome of marble ten feet in radius had enclosed one Shadowman.

--

Jacob jumped back quickly as the wall slid forward, spikes and all.

((A note about the balconies:

..ooo
ooooo
ooooox
ooooox
ooooo
..ooo

Purple is where the balconies are; they're stacked in 5 levels. Everyone to enter so far has come through the hole made under them.
x is where the Warlocks and vampire/werebeast defenses retreated and sealed it behind them.

You're all on the ground floor right now.))

Hmm... Paul had an idea.

He came up a little from his hiding spot, waving the barrel across the Tyrgani as quickly as possible in order to screw up his sense of how to dodge. He didn't actually fire... yet.

<******** it! Jacob thought, I can make explosive marbles or something later...I wonder if I brought any...
He would check later when his life wasn't threatened by stony spikes.

Then a better idea came to him. He grabbed one of his smoke grenades and pulled the pin.
He counted one second before tossing the grenade through a gunhole in the hopes of distracting the people inside long enough for him to impale them.
If that didn't work, making an opening so he could get inside would work too.

He place his hands on the stone wall, wary of spikes, and waiting for the smoke to go off.

"Sonovawhore!"

"Don't bother shielding it, it's a smoke!"

"The smoke is passing through!"

"Well, no s**t, shields never block gasses!"

Well hoho! That was a tasty piece of knowledge that might come in handy later.
Jacob quickly went to work with sending several spikes inward towards and opening up a small hole in the wall.

Joe hit the ground and skidded along, but by the time he got back up the area was mostly filled and rapidly approaching fully healed.
Now (presumably) safe, Joe began to think of a way to fight back.

"Hey, shut up, check the wall!"

"What's up?"

"Someone's working it!"

"You sure?"

"Certain?"

"Definitely."

"Wheaaaghhh!"

"Get him back, I'll cover the waaauugh!"

Two of Jacob's shots had hit, it seemed. "Opening at 4-6!"

Gunfire blasted through the hole Jacob had made.

Jacob swore silently and hopped away from his hole.
Still wary of spikes and more gunfire, Jacob, still cloaked, pulled out his saw-off shotgun and stuck it in the gunhole next to his own hole. he fired once, aiming as best he could towards the possible location of the gunmen.

From the yelling Jacob heard, it seemed just about anywhere would've resulted in a hit.

Unfortunately, the muzzle flash had been quite clearly visible - it was too much light to simply redirect.
