Jacob took the pause in gunfire to duck through the door, still cloaked. He immediately took the nearest cover on the right and moved towards the source of the gunfire quickly and quietly.
He peeked out to see how many there were.

The barricade this time was much more thorough. Earthen fortifications blocked the whole room, wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling. Small holes exposed gun barrels.

Paul had an idea.
He started shooting.
Darius had an idea.
He started throwing rock at very high velocities.
The skeletons had an idea.
They started shooting too.
Fyrin had an idea.
He set off detonations on the floor below the Tyrg operatives.

The detonation failed to happen.
As the various forms of projectiles opened fire, the Tyrgani Shadowmen broke formation. What few things hit them did little damage through their armor.

((This is gay. Paul can't do anything that I can see - he's got his gun, phase weaponry, and useless magic. And I'm sure that an earth bullet like the one he used on the CK will be useless, because let's face it, a bullet does more damage than a rock. No matter what you do. So why not augment a bullet's travel speed by eliminating wind resistance?))

((You'll never do damage by JUST shooting and you can't do damage to the environment within about two feet of one, but you're not helpless by any stretch of the word.
Unless you stretch it to mean uncreative. razz ))
Jacob found two smoke grenades and one fragmentation grenade. The frags were mostly reserved for the assault team.

Remembering that the grenades had been reserved for the assault team, Joe shouted out to Paul to try and use those.
Joe stayed back warily, however. REFs were bad for him.

Jacob debated quickly about saving the frag for later.
He attempted to manipulate a small hole, just large enough for him to crawl through, in the Earthen barricade in the section farthest away from the gunmen before he used any grenades.

"Something's working the wall! Everyone back!" The guns all retracted.
The wall slid several feet forward.

Paul shrugged. It was worth a shot; he pulled a grenade and hurled it at them.

Jacob ran up to the wall and placed his hands upon it as it moved. Earthen spikes suddenly erupted from the walls on the inside of the barricade, seeking to impale the people inside before they could do anything more.

Jacob felt the spikes stop.
"Elementalist!" someone yelled. The spikes inverted their direction; there were clearly multiple elementalists working the other side.

The Shadowman nearest to the grenade threw it back.
