The action was fast. Desumal watched with a slight tinge of amusement as his opponent hesitated and was then beset upon by a seeming mental attack with no source. This was interesting. Perhaps the traitor HAD suffered some for his crimes. Still, it wasn't enough.

Pumping his wings, he heaved his form up off the sand, just in time to bank away hasitly as a large bird moved in for a landing. Good grief! It had been a long time since he'd flown and this was too much for the time being. Luckily the other flying creature seemed uninterested in him.

Landing again, he eyes the people in and around the ship. When another appeared quite close to him, he was only sightly surprised. Wingspans of tricks, these people had. He brushed a bit of sand off his feathers before giving a slight smirk.

"I was not in much real danger..." Now he was surprised. A Laerethe! That might explain much indeed. Desumal continued after a pause. "I could have easily avoided any wound he might have tried to give me. But I needed to learn. After all, information is the basis by which we must plan our actions for the future."

"So far, I have learned that the killer of my race still retains his planewalk ability, he is burdened by his conscience for the crimes he committed, and that he seems to be suffering a severe mental breakdown."

Desumal carefully folded his wings so that the black feathers at each tip tucked under his arms and decorated his chest. Though he continued to address Eilynne, his eyes traveled to the woman with the cat and the item her pet had taken from the sand near him. "I also sought to learn much about the people aboard this ship. I have learned more than I shall tell you, but importantly I have learned that you are a rather self-centered group overall, and that you do indeed set much store in this Rhythmic Orb I have heard of since awakening."

Primofius groaned on the cold stone floor. Laying in the fetal position, his pain was unbearable, and it didn't help he used another portal. After what seemed like hours, he slowly steadied himself on his knees. With a heavy throbbing head he lifted his eyes to gaze at the remnants of the temple which he used to call home.

"Was I really the one who doomed our race? Did I do it? Was I filled with contempt of another. If only I could remember. I only have a few chances and another just slipped through my hands."

Clutching his head again as the a spasm of pain searned through his temples, he began to tremble. Even though he was still covulsing and raging at times at least the episodes became less excruciating. But was this a good thing? Looking once more at the old crystal mosaic beyond the altar he felt his body weaken.

"I had a feast earlier today, why is this happening!? It should be another 2 or 3 days before another. But i can't help it... I..."

Primorfius passed out with tears is his eyes.

"I just found my mother." Back in the graveyard where she wasn't going to be much help. "A really big sneeze..." Well, that was kind of hard to do without provocation and he didn't think Jae had any pepper on her anywhere. "I just concentrate real hard, right?" Closing his eyes to a squint and making a face full of concentration, he tried to see his body changing...and tried....and tried. "It's not working..."

"I apologize for startling you, Captain Gem. It is simply our way to appear and reappear wherever we might be needed. I will let Lynnie know what you need and have it for you within the next few hours. Be sure to have an accurate list, though, okay?"

"I'm having my people search through our stores right now and I'll have a list compiled for you by the close of the day today. Gem, are you allowing anymore aboard?"

"Which leaves us at an impasse, I suppose." Frowning at that but watching the movement through a cynical eye. "I doubt it. The Laerethe would have been more optimistic if we had more shards than we originally thought. The way they've been murmuring lately it seems like some might be lost permanently. There's no more energy signatures." He stepped a bit closer and studied her. "I guess you'd like it better if Shyrae was here again."

Another giggle. "Silly. I told ya, Lynnie knows all about it. She's here to fix it, but I dunno how long we've been tryin'. Seems like forrrrrreverrrrrr." Areesa bounced around Rin's head, her rune blinking rapidly. "Treasure hunts are fun but sometimes you can't play without permission. So you better ask Lynnie first, mmkay?"

"Information is of no use to the dead." The stars in her eyes flashed angrily and her eyes narrowed to slits. "You dare to downplay the importance of it? You assume much and know very little, desverto, and your arrogance shows you for a fool. Why do you seek this knowledge? Of what use can it be to you who have no dealings with this plane now that your quarry has vanished?"

It was all the little thief could do not to scoff at the sprite-like being's answer. Permission? She had never asked permission for anything in her life. Actually, the word itself was a challenge to her. Even though she didn't know what they were talking about, and really hadn't been too interested in it to begin with, Iridia was already taking an interest in doing it, just because she knew she didn't have permission. Besides that, though, she had a habit of picking up magical items. It was something her people were very fond of, and as a thief Iridia had found herself hunting them on more than one occasion.

"So, you are looking for pieces of this Orb then? Since you said it was broken, I bet there are tons of pieces scattered all about. Where could pieces of an inanimate object possibly go to all on their own?" she asked skeptically, hardly believing that something without life could shatter and hide itself all over the place.

"Hm...well, let's ask. Worst that can happen is that no one knows and we'll just have to make you sneeze." Picking up the dragonling she flared her wings and hopped into the air, gliding on the air currents back to the Chimera and landing in the deck a little roughly near the other dragons. "Okay so I'm only going to interrupt for a moment but...Cyvalor needs to change and he can't and I was wondering if there was a way to make that happen?"

She watched as he tried to get the hand of the flapping things, but like most human minded creatures he lacked the undersanding of how the practice was done other than 'flapping'. But she was distracted a moment by the woman she didn't like. "Mother feed their dragonlings a scale. The innate power in the scale make them change as needed. Though you might want to observe...we're having a flying lesson as well." And attention back to Hunter. "You'll never get off the ground that way. When you fly you so so with your top roll joints where our wings connect to your back near your shoulders. Think of rolling your shoulders...now just do that to your wings. Flying is a forward roll of the wings, not an up and down flap. The forward roll captures air in your membranes, the back push of the role propells your forward. Even rising actions and hovering are accomplished this way with a few angle adjustments."

Accurate list is easy. Though let me ask this." Pointing out to the ball of light with the various rag tag group. "Do we need to be worrying about them? I'd rather know that you don't want me to shoot one of them in the face should they try to board my ship. Because that's practically a greeting gesture from me to people who would think to do so without asking."

Which got a point to Robbins. "Point and case, see how he asked? He's a lovely man. If you or your grew needs to come aboard Robbins, you are more than welcome too. I have fresh muffins in fact."

"There are a few faint ones. The compass can't pick up tiny things or dust though." Chytlithair moving to hop onto her shoulder and play with the beading in her hair, she crossed her arms before a blink and a look to him...or more over his shoulder rather. "Shyrae isn't made for this kind of life. She was more worried than happy with me."

Rin smiled at the little Seon kindly, "Of course, I would never dream of intruding on your plans. So, you say I must speak with Linnie? Can you take me to her?" Of course, Rin had no intention of setting aside his plans for adventure if he was denied. He'd get what information he could here, then carry on to find the thing on his own. He, too, had taken into account that the orb had been shattered, and so it would be more than one piece he would have to find. That would make things interesting, he thought. Himself against this large team of people, both trying to accomplish the same goals, only Rin had his own reasons for the quest.

"I'm not, but Lynnie's friends are." Hovering in place for a moment, her rune flashed rapidly. "Lynnie's not here right now but if you leave her a message I'll make sure she gets to it as soon as she's done." Areesa's bouncing paused and she hovered directly in front of Iridia's face for a moment, casting a pale yellow glow onto her cheeks. "I guess that depends on what innimate means." Her childish voice stumbled over the strange word but giggles ensued pretty quickly. "Somebody stole it and broke it and hid the pretty pieces 'cause they didn't want everyone to be happy and not hungry."

"I can't get one of those though, can I? Or do you have one Miss Nell?" She did have some things that really blew his mind. He glanced over at the other two dragons and grinned. "I can do that. Watch." Flapping his wings in the proper position as he hovered off the ground a few feet. "But you have to flap really hard and fast or you'll fall and sometimes-" His momentum lapsed and he fell back to the deck with a splat. "Sometimes you fall anyway."

Thobias smiled. "That's my Gem. I was referring to those out there on the sands, however, but I'll gladly come aboard and sample your delicious muffins."

Rahsaveer gazed out as well and then shook his head. "Eilynne often handles things more rashly than I would. I would rather they come to us and we choose whether or not to give them quarter. I expect she'll be making the decision based on their usefulness. We'll simply have to wait and see."

"If some of the pieces are nothing more than dust, how are they ever going to fix this thing?" Not that the Orb was his concern. He had a different mission to carry out entirely. One that had already begun with the downfall of second in command of the Riders. "I think you underestimate her. But that's a common mistake. A lot of people do that. She reminds me of my ex in that way."

Smile still in place, Rin replied, "Well, then I guess I'll just be on my way then. No sense in waiting around for answers I might not even get." After all, he was sure someone else knew the same answers, he just had to find out who. "Let her know, though, that Rin Seshou of the Skies still wishes to speak with her, if we ever meet again," he said before bowing slightly to the little Seon and turning to the beautiful woman beside him.

"It's a shame that our meeting was so brief, my lady, but it seems I'm not going to find what I'm looking for here. Speaking of which, what are you doing here?" He realized it was a bit strange. He had thought she and the others had been with the ships, but it certainly was not the case.

Iridia smiled faintly at the little sprite's mistake. She would have laughed, and possibly even corrected her, but her body was getting weak. She had been out in this terrible sun for days now, and she was beginning to feel the effects of having not eaten nothing but a piece of bread in the past day.

When the thing told her about what had happened to the orb, Iridia's hand went up to her neck. She didn't know how this had gotten here, but she imagined how terrible it would have been for her people had such a thing happened to the one on her neck. Shaking her head, she replied softly, "I'm so sorry."

As Rin voiced his reply, Iridia got the feeling that his search for this thing wasn't going to end here. While she hadn't an interest in it earlier, the fact that it was a magical item did indeed intrigue her. However, if she stayed with these people, she would never get to have it. That is, unless she stole it from them, but Iridia knew that herself against the two ships of people would not end well for her.

"Just passing through on my way to..." she started in reply to his question, remembering that, this time, such a simple answer wasn't going to work. "I am traveling on my way to a city," she replied instead.

Okay so not a flappy motion but a rolling motion. like rowing the longboats. that should work. and a glance at the little gold...he wasn't about to be shown up by a child, not in the least.

Okay so rowing motions. and one, and two and one and two. and there goes the flappy motions on the wings, well, straight up and down anyway, so some adjustments, put your back into it! and managing a hover about a foot up off the ground, slow and steady. of course that hurt after a little bit, and that burning sensation from muscles not being used in awhile getting a work out, but pushed it another foot up, before landing and breathing a bit heavy.

Desdemona took mental note of the way to get a dragonling to change...just in case and she might use it on hunter if need be.

"A little harder then it looks, isn't it?"

Again her attention flitted to the two younger dragons. "It doesn't necessarily have to be the mother's scale. Mothers are just at more ease giving up a scale to their young." That said she promptly pulled one of her own scales, picked the dragonling up off that deck with her tail to stand, and handed the scale down to the dragonling. "Chew on that and think about changing." Letting him go she turned her attention back to the other who was getting the hang of it. But as always was doing too much too fast. "Don't get over confident. And it will be easiler to do such things in your natural form as your center of balance shifts to a better location for such activities."

In the skies above the new little band of travelers and commotion, the large black dragon circled in the sky above the cloud layer so that his shadow didn't cast much. He watched them...who were these people and why were they after Orb shards? Save for the ones that were masked in his possession with the little children he should have eaten a long time ago, there were few if any left out in the open anymore. These ones all had intentions of getting in on the bounty? Well he thought differently. He'd have to turn them off to the idea. Or make sure of them by urging them to his own means. If those failed...well he wasn't opposed to eating anything.

"Those out there that are mulling around in the sand, contemplating our ships like food, and are sitting ducks for the sand sharks that would love to snap them up as they stand there like fresh pickings? I suppose I can't go against the Little Lady's descision, but I'd rather not be stalked. If they're going to ask they could be forward aboutit. Stalking makes me want to shoot various objects out of the deck canons."

"It's the assumption I make of them and could be a possibility. Maybe the Laerethe can repair the Orb if they have most of it and the little missing pieces will be their responsibility." He got a noise to his statement though on his sister. "She cares for me too much. She's too busy looking out for me to look out for herself and I can't be there all the time. Your sister has a gentle nature that as always complimented mine well, but that doesn't dismiss facts. Your sister is the last person I would want to have potential meat puppet properties from an early death." His ex? He was going to compare his sister to his ex? She didn't even know he dabbled with the ladies, too busy shanking things and what not. "How so?" But her ears twitched and she seemed a bit surprised before she frowned an looked up to the sky. He couldn't hide his magic signature or his life force from her. "The Black dragon is back."

"If a child can do it, I can do it."

before getting popped upside the head again and scrambling a moment to keep his balance with his wings tired and not wanting to readily cooperate.

"Technically, you are a child in this form. you might have an adults body but you have a child's grasp of how it works, dear."

having to watch her words since certain people were obviously out and about by that little seon's presence.

Logan was busy just minding his own business. Well for the most part that meant keeping an eye out for odd things, though the small group off the ships side didn't feel like a threat to him anyway. But when he got close to the other ship Logan happened to see the three dragons conversing and since his hearing was so well he manage to pick up on what the little guy was saying. He then swooped in and landed near by, looking at the boy for a moment. "You know, we could just push you off the ship, maybe then your instincts will kick in and you will fly." He looked at the small dragon boy then the others for a moment before a smile appeared on his lips. "I'm kidding, we aren't birds after all." His eyes then looked back at Cyvalor and he sighed. "Don't worry bout flying yet. It took me awhile to get use to flying and I'm grown up."

"Children can do a lot of things that adults can not. Don't think you are better simply because you are grown." And indeed smirking about him getting hit yet again. Des at least understood that he needed to be pushed and his arrogance kept at bay for now. "Which is why I keep telling you that the sooner you box you cocky attitude the easier this will all come." Plopping a hand on the gold dragonling's head. "Or I will just have to get the little one to show you how it is done."

Fellnathir blinked though at this man...whom was not one of them but certinally was dragon in some part it seemed. She gave him a leveled look which was promptly followed by a tail whack to his ankles. "No. We are not birds indeed. That's a quick way to ruin your wings."

"alright, alright. I get the point."

glancing between them both a moment.

"Okay, so we know my wings work, and that I can move them and I can hover at least. so what's the next step."

Desdemona rolled her eyes lightly.

"the next step is we feed you some more. and then maybe you get to play some more with the other children. it's coming along alright, you'll be back where you belong sooner then you think. quite chomping at the bit on it so much. Stress is not good for you right now."

Drifter was touring the city as she tended to do in the middle of the day if lycear had no further use of her, taking in the local sights and the local 'color' every step on the ground feeding her information about the people, the land, and all their troubles, dreams, worries and concerns.

Today she knew that Lycear was looking to gather a few trusted allies and have her try and show them the use of the black sand, adn what it was capable of...and she was looking for a special person herself to demonstrate it's potential. a healer, a preist..druid...someone of that nature.
