The girl meekly nodded her head at Hyuuga-san as an acknowledgment of his greeting, still rather tired to talk. It was a relief to see that Hyuuga-san eagerness to meet up with her were mutual. And as for Sasaki-san... it seemed all she was really good at doing was making him worry. No, she couldn't allow herself to be a burden anymore. She had to let him know she would be okay if she rested for a bit. But before she could utter a word, he had returned to his sparring session with Hyuuga-san. Kaede bit her lip at the missed opportunity. The girl sighed and resigned herself to observing the two as they were about to engage each other.

The sudden display of hostility towards Hyuuga-san of all people was very shocking. What did Sasaki-san mean when he told Hyuuga-san to get off his back? Just what happened between them while she was away? Kaede could only ponder and wince when Hyuuga-san was pulled into a hold. It looked very uncomfortable, and much more difficult than the Nawanuke no Jutsu exercise to get out of. Now she knew she really, really, really didn't want to do this training. What if someone tore a muscle or broke a bone?

And Miharo-sensei's suggestions... they all sounded so horrible. The girl couldn't help but grimace. At his beckoning, Kaede pushed herself off the trunk of the tree she used for shade and sullenly approached Miharo-sensei. The girl kept her distance, however, make sure she was at arms length. Previous cases of physical contact still fresh on her mind.

"Uhm... I d-don't..." she took a few deep breaths. "don't think I sh-should..."

The girl glanced to the side and a leaf on the ground.

"...fight."

Yarotai kept the fight in the corner of his eye as he turned his attention to Kaede. He met her with a smile that soon faded as she kept her distance from him and once again lowered her voice. In fact he down right frowned at the girl standing before him. When she was done he set his mouth back to a neutral setting and patted the stump beside himself, indicating for her to sit. Though he hoped that simply training for the exams would be enough to keep her moving, it was apparent that he'd have to have the talk with her earlier rather than later.

"Come here Miss Kaede. I promise I won't touch you this time."

Kisama... that was a new name. Kaede was sure it wasn't Miharo-sensei's first name, though her memory of his introduction was a little hazy. Perhaps it was his middle name...? She would inquire him about it later. And the strange smile on Sasaki-san's face was extremely out of place. It was not a look of happiness... it was like she was seeing a person different from the fellow student who had inquired about her well being. Unsettling.

Then, equally unsettling was when Miharo-sensei had called her by her first name. The absence of a smile on his face proved her suspicions correct. In the young girl's impressionable mind, Miharo-sensei was not Miharo-sensei unless he was grinning without a care and giving people nicknames out of affection and teasing his students. This serious Miharo-sensei felt like a stranger... such that she wondered if she was talking to another clone. A more complex one with the ability of speech. Maybe she did something wrong. Compared to being touch, that was a much more frightening thought.

Kaede sat down at the stump, hunched over, with her elbows on her knees. She couldn't quite bring it in herself to meet him in the eye, whatever she did...

Rhaim was feeling more confident about the fact that he had time and chakra enough to try to learn the exploding tag jutsu once again. However this time he was determined not to fail and look like a worthless shinobi to his peers and leaders. Though becoming the best ninja was by no means a reason for him to train, being able to hold his own and aide his friends in battle definately was a reason. The monkeys that he had fought had taught him how terrible it was to be weak when you went into a fight or a mission. He wasn't about to let that feeling come back to him again if he could help it. With a somewhat frustrated sigh at himself for choosing to train instead of nap he removed himself from his position against the tree. Ignoring the events around him wasn't hard since no one seemed to notice him anyhow.

The young Nara child made his way deeper into the forest so as not to disturb the training of the others. He then removed a the exploding tags from his pouch and stuck them against a few trees. Once he was a safe distance away he turned back to face the tags on the trees and began focusing his chakra on the symbol that he knew to be on the tags.

Yarotai watched the young girl sit next to him in complete silence and then refuse to look at him. Since she had acted apprehensive of him up to now anyways, her mood and body language did not strike the Chuunin as odd. Once she was in place he turned his gaze back out towards the fight and spoke to the girl in a low calm voice so that only the two of them could hear it.

"You know when I first joined the Academy it was because my father had told me that it was the greatest thing a man could do. So I trained to pass the genin exams and I did. Then I went to a team. One of our missions was to recover documents from another team that had been intercepted and wiped out. When we found their bodies I found out that the entire team were medical ninja. My captain knew that but didn't think it was important information during the brief. Their bodies were covered in kunai and shuriken but none of them had any weapons of their own. They thought that since they were medics that no one would hurt them. Shinobi are hired to do a job. And if that job is to kill your friends then they will. I would. Now when someone tries to kill Mr Giggles and Mr Manners are you going to say that you shouldn't fight? I don't want you to fight if you don't have to, but I want you to be willing to fight for them. Because I know they would fight for you."

It was a lot to take in. Kaede knew that being a shinobi would mean having to kill, but it was a far away thought. Something that she would maybe have to do a few years later, like when she was as old as her father. In her mind, it was about taking out the bad guys to protect the village. Because it was the right thing to do. And she would know they were bad guys because they were going to do bad things like stealing important documents, threatening the village, or killing civilians like in the tales she had heard of. But this...

"I-if someone was th-threat-tening Hyuuga-san and Sasaki-san," Would they fight for her? She never really considered her safety to be anyone's priority, honestly. "I think... I think I could do it. I think I c-could ki-ki-...

...

... But, I d-don't think I could f-fight Hyuuga-san and Sasaki-san..."

And the way he talked about killing friends so casually, it was eerie. How could this man who always friendly and smiling be the same man talking about the weight of a human life so lightly? In her mind, friends shared the same beliefs, always there for each other, and most importantly, loyal to one another. It was hard to imagine people like the those three boys she'd always see together all the time, like at the playground or the fruit stand, turning against each other. To see them fighting each other the way Hyuuga-san and Sasaki-san were fighting right now. Much less kill each other.

And if someone without a weapon was still an enemy, then what was good and what was bad? How would she know what would be the right thing to do? Kaede had been so sure, so confident. Now she had a lot of questions to ask. But most of all, "... Miharo-sensei, have you ever k-ki..."

killed? Even if she really wanted to know, she couldn't really bring herself to finish that sentence.

"..."

Yarotai wasn't expecting the girl to suddenly change her entire outlook on life just because of one speech. However he wasn't about to spare her what being a shinobi was truly about or not try to talk to her at all. The fact that she was still apprehensive about fighting the other two boys was actually slightly a relief to him. He was about to give her his suggestion for how she would conduct her taijutsu training when she presented a very difficult question to him. Again he refused to hide anything that he didn't have to from the girl.

"Yes. Now I think I know how to get you through the taijutsu lesson. You're not going to do it. Not for now at least. For now I want you to focus on your jutsu training. Did you finish the Henge no Jutsu?"

Taiju wandered aimlessly through the forest, cursing his bad sense of direction. "I hate this forest, I hate this job, and I hate all those damm kids that are running around as of late." Suddenly he walked up and saw Yarotai sitting with a young girl as other kids sparred each other. "Oh you have to be kidding me..." This is exactly what Taiju didn't need right now. The last thing he wanted to do was deal with student after getting fired from his job. Still, he had nothing better to do. Taiju clenched his fists and walked towards Yarotai and the young girl. Maybe he can give me a clue about what's going on here.

She shouldn't really feel surprised, yet a part of her did. It was in the job description, that much was sure. And while Miharo-sensei was older than her, he certainly wasn't old. Old like her father. Would that mean the time when she would encounter such a situation will come soon? The girl didn't think she was mentally prepared for it. Then again, how does one mentally prepare oneself to kill?

Instead of answering his question, she asked another one of her own, "Was it e-easy the first t-time?"

Kaede had barely noticed the soft footprints nearing them, still intent on the answer. For the first time since they met, the girl chose to look at Miharo-sensei in the eyes, though her gaze very morose. As if someone had died just now.

Yarotai smiled back down at the girl and placed a hand on her head, rubbing it and messing it all up worse. Despite her small size and age this girl seemed to focus on the most realistic and depressing aspects of her profession. The Chuunin didn't think it wrong at all to think of it as her profession since it was not something someone started down lightly.

"Easy as breathing Little Miss Mouse. And no she wasn't a bad guy either. But what's not easy is the second time. But the rest after that don't even seem real. And that's the end of Miharo sensei's story time! You need to get to training. Listening to me yap on all day isn't going to make you a better shinobi."

While she would organize herself and decide what she needed help with, since he was confident that she would ask for his help, he turned his attention to the newest member of the forest. With his smile still in place he waved his hand in the air merrily at the other Chuunin.

"OI! Taiju! Over here! Seems like I wasn't the only one from our class to get this assignment. I trust that nothing has been going right for you lately."

"Optimistic as ever Yarotai..." Taiju spat. "I haven't been assigned anywhere. I just wanted to clear my head and I ended up in the forest surrounded by students. Stuff hasn't been working out as of late. Apparently being overly aggressive when working is a bad thing now." Taiju scowled as he sat down in front of Yarotai, and looked at the girl next to him. "So is she your girlfriend or something? She seems a bit young to me." The stocky man didn't know what on earth Yarotai was saying, but it couldn't have been anything interesting if he was cutting it there. Or maybe he had been talking for a while. It didn't concern Taiju either way, he wasn't teaching anyone at the moment.

Yarotai reached back for a half full canteen and extended it out to the taller man before him. He was glad to see someone that he knew and also glad that he hadn't ended up as an Academy teacher. Not because he'd be bad at it, but rather because he'd hate it to no end and the two of them would end up really causing some damage. If the Takeshi incident had happened with Taiju there would probably be a boy still shooved in the bottom of his backpack. He pointed a thumb over to Kaede.

"Who? Her? Naw, she's a student for now. But who knows, I've seen uglier girls end up being real lookers. If she develops nicely maybe she will be in the future. So what's up with you? Get a fight with the family again? How many walls did you knock down this time?"

Taiju waved a hand at the canteen and shook his head. "Well don't go getting cozy with the students. You don't need that on your rap sheet." The large man paused and adjusted his facemask a bit. "Unfortunately I didn't get in a fight with my family this time. Got fired from my patrol job. I was kicking this guy out of his house because he was going nuts and getting violent with his family, so I throw the guy through a wall and as I got outside the place just goes up in flames. Two people inside burned to death and I got fired. Worst thing is the guy gets off the hook and tried to charge me with assault, murder, and a few other unpleasant things."

Taiju shook his head again and cursed under his breath. "Damm I need something to keep me occupied. Need any help around here with all these students?"

Yarotai roared and rocked back and forth with laughter at the other mans story and how well it seemed to fit him. The idea of him ever getting 'cozy' with a girl that young, whether or not they were students, was an out of the question possibility to the man. Though that wasn't going to keep his mind out of what-if games for the future. He replaced the canteen and calmed himself down. Finally he nodded to his former classmate.

"Mmmm, yeah. You see the Uchiha kid? He's not main branch but he still carries their poor social skills. He's also got the standard chip on his shoulder. Kinda reminds me of you. Except he doesn't have the team spirit and patience that you did. Not that I can't handle him, but it might be easier for him to work with someone more direct. Or you could help the Hyuuga. He's almost ready for the exams so I'm sure he'd like the pointers. But you can't help the girl. Considering I make her cry, I can only imagine what you would do to her!"

Taiju cocked an eyebrow at Yarotai with a slight grin on his face. "Well surely I can't leave her with you. I don't like fighting women remember? Plus she looks like she can do with some strength training..." He paused for a few seconds before remembering that there were other students in the class. "An Uchiha? A Hyuuga? That has to be a pair. Two clans that I can't stand. I'm not really sure what I would be teaching them though. I suppose I could strap a couple hundred pounds to their backs and make them do pushups for a few hours..." Taiju laughed as he trailed off and scratched the back of his head. "I keep forgetting that not everyone has the durability that I do."
