"Just don't....be like him." Layna murmured, staring down at the ground. Her hand trailed up to her neck, where the crescent marks were barely visible in the light. She sighed, her expression slightly pained. It wasn't something she liked to think about.

"Love, I will never be like him." Ceon his hand on her neck and kissed Layna deeply. Gabriel put his paws on her shoulder and began to lick her cheek.

Layna hugged them both tightly. His words were at least comforting. "Before you do....anything reckless....please....please let's go for a run, together..." She whispered. Her grey eyes lacked the pleading look. "I don't care the danger...We can run faster than many creatures..."

Ceon nodded slowly, "Layna, one thing I can promise is that I never do anything reckless on purpose." He kissed her as he stood up with Gabriel in his arms. The nitrate had worn off, and the hole in his shoulder had healed over. He threw off his shirt, and slowly turned.

Layna felt a giddiness sweep over her. Her eyes looked at her husband's back, which had begun to sprout fur. She ran a clawed hand through the fur, feeling her own fur spatter across her body. She hugged him gently before she sank down, allowing her bones to contract and expand. It was not pain anymore, it was sheer ecstasy.

Ceon let out a howl of joy and Gabriel pounced around and weaved inbetween his father's legs.

Ceon entered the apartment, careful not to wake up his son sleeping in his arms. He layed Gabriel down gently into the crib and placed a teething ring next to Gabriel for when he woke up.

Layna wrapped her arms around Ceon, her chin against his shoulder. "You alright, Ceon?" She murmured silently into his ear, a smile touching her lips.

Ceon like over his shoulder at Layna, a depressed look in his eyes. "Yea, I'm fine. Just been thinking...a lot. Some things you shouldn't hear, some things you should hear but would get hurt by." Ceon walked out onto the deck and gazed up at the star filled sky, the light of the moon seeming to shine down on him.

Layna followed him slowly. "Some things are better said than left in the dark." She murmured softly. "I've seen....heard many things that would have left me....imperiled...but here I am." It was hard for her to think about the past. She missed her father. She missed so many things. And yet when she didn't think about them, it would hurt her even more.

"I'm afraid that I'm going to end up killing you or Gabriel. Especially since you remind me so much of Marissa. I'm also afraid that people other Daiguren are tracking me down. I think....I need to go away for a bit....until things settle down..." Ceon turned around and took Layna's hands, gazing into her platinum eyes.

Layna clenched her jaw against the words that threatened. Her eyes were pained. She felt more than heard what he said. He was going to leave...

Ceon held her close against him, "Layna, I need to get rid of some people that have been troubling me...and bringing up some bad memories. I won't be gone long, Layna. I just need to do some things first. Please understand." Ceon kissed her on the forehead, a tear rolling down his cheek.
