Kenth didn't know how fast he walked. Nor did he really cared about if any of the people followed. Something was terrifying him, disrupting his minds. Was it the dark that was approaching? Was it the movement in the forest earlier? Kenth wasn't sure. But this panic seemed to have come to him so unnaturally that itself was freaking him out. Kenth would feel the leaves russtle beneath his feet, and the wind, the motionless wind that was preduced by his motions alone. It felt humid, and foul.

Kenth suddenly came to a halt. He blinked, and realized that it had been a while since he started walking. It was dark now...so much darker than before. Kenth could feel sweat tinckling down his temple, and he impatiently rubbled it. What had made him so worked up? Kenth was confused, both at the anxiousy that seemed to have come from nowhere and the surrounding, which was too quiet...even for him to bear.

Kenth turned around slowly, seemingly afraid of something. He looked at the group that was barely catching up with him and sighed a little. It was a sigh of partial relief. However, the sigh immediately turned into a light gasp as his eyes widened, not believing that there was only three people that stood in front of him.

Someone was missing.

Kenth felt a twich in his muscles, and grinded his teeth hard.

"Where is Alex?"

The woman was lost, that's where she was.

She'd been walking briskly, making sure no one fell behind as the doctor was chased by invisible demons, feeling her skin crawl with the unshakable man's sudden fear. Even so, she wouldn't let the others get swept up in his strange attitude, acting as though nothing was wrong other than the fact that the day was coming to an end. If she kept calm, she might be able to keep the others calm, especially if they were afraid of Kenth to begin with. It was starting to bother her, however, his phantom fear. And that's what it was - fear. She could see it in the way he moved, in the breathing that she could hear above all of them, as though he was running from--

--a shadow. Alex jerked a little, snapping her head to the side. She could have sworn she'd seen something move. It may have just been a shadow, but the part that bothered her was (a) there was no light source and (b) there was nothing moving that could cast such a shadow that would catch her attention so prominantly. It made her slow down a little, letting the others continue to move ahead; if there was something, there was no point in alerting the others, as fear had already seemed to have gripped most of them.

She wasn't afraid, not until she saw the shadow move.

Alex stopped cold, feeling her skin ripple into goosebumps. Were they being followed? Was that a native? She felt a fine tremble starting in her chest, the type that told you something was very wrong. Bright green eyes turned to where her group was disappearing from sight, leaving her behind. She should follow, but...her gaze turned inexorably to the shadow, which seemed to be watching her just as much as she was watching it. The children couldn't be around for this, not Audun...not Kenth...

It moved again, back into the forest. Alex did the only logical thing her mind could conceive of, and followed blindly, being swallowed by the darkness of the night.

Farlest's eyes went very very wide and he swallowed hard. The way this forest was positively eerie had already freaked him out, and he's sort of latched to Ka's arm with no intent on letting go.

"Uhm...I don't know." He stated quietly, glancing back the way they had come. "However...my guess would be...somewhere back there?" The dark-haired boy grimaced, this could be really bad...considering everything they had seen thus far...that and the glowing temple really gave him the willies.

Detaching himself from Ka's arm...finally, he bit his lip and turned...as though he might dash back on his own in search of the missing party member. From what he had seen of her...he liked Alex, and the thought that something might happen to her...to anyone here...was just downright terrifying.

Again...he wasn't sure what he could do, but he loathed just sitting around...or standing in this case...not when someone might be in very grave danger.

"She's gone? I could have sworn she was just behind me."

Audun had been startled into actually speaking when Kenth had made a demand for Alex, and his eyes were wide as he spun around to search for the woman that he KNEW had been behind him only moments before. Or at least...something had been behind him - he could feel that much.

His hand quickly slid into the pocket of his pants and then into the upper sleeve of his shirt, all the while looking for something. when he found it his face seemed to calm and a look of uncaring once again crossed his features. Audun was pissed none-the-less that he'd been startled into acting surprised, but at this point in time he wasn't sure of what would be up.

"What should we do now?"

His voice held no panic, but that icy shiver of fear was making its way down his spine again, pooling at the base of his back before drying into his shirt.

Ka hadn't at all minded Far attatching as such - the other boy having chattered just about incessantly earlier. Now though ... and for the past little while, he'd been quieter - a sure sign that something was probably wrong. Ka could practically feel how scared the smaller boy was, and he tried his best not to look afraid himself, attempting to be stronger, support.

Ka shook his head slightly at Kenth's question and also glanced back. "I ... haven't seen her for a while." He turned more fully when Far let go of him and reached out on his own to grab the other's hand. He could practically tell what Far was maybe thinking of doing and he knew that would be Bad Idea.

"Should we go back to search for her?" he asked, glancing back toward Kenth.

Kenth didn't respond. His mind was boiling. There seemed to be so many different bullets flying in his head that even himself felt disoriented. Perhaps it was due to walking too fast and for too long. But for now, Kenth had to force himself to calm down. Alex was missing, she was last seen with him at the temple...then he must have lost her with his sudden leap. Then why HER? Why was everyone else here? What...happened to her? Was it because she was a woman that she somehow disappeared? Or...

"ALEX!!!!" Kenth screamed, hard, straight from his lungs. His voice echoed in the dark forest, coming back into his ears, mocking his thoughts. Kenth found himself shaking out of control, and his fist closed onto itself so hard that he was huring himself.

No...Calm down...she should be okay by herself, she's strong like that, she's...she's going to be okay. It was not the time to think about her, right now it's more important to...

"No need to go, she'll catch up eventually...there's no harm in the forest other than the luna's cap, and she should have brought plenty of remedies with her." Kenth managed to blurt out finally, literally biting down on his tongue to stop his voice from shivering.

"Right now, we hurry to get out of this place to meet the others." Kenth sighed heavily, and turned to start walking again. He didn't want to look back, he didn't dare to...

What the HELL has gotten into him?

Far's hand slipped away from Ka's and he shook his head. "No." His voice was almost eerily calm...and he took two quick steps...before a sort of determination came over his face...and he darted towards whence they had come.

Gone...he remembered the last time someone had disappeared...and when he had found them again. To see anyone like that...or worse...he would not, could not have it happen again.

She was one of them, was Alex...didn't matter that she was older, or that he didn't know her well...she was part of their group...and instantly Farlest had put her under the category of those who must be safe at all costs.

Now...being lithe...and small as he was, Farlest did have one thing going for him, and it was that he was fast...a sprinter, and he was using it to its full potential.

Farlest was running. "Alex!" Calling her name in turn, young voice seeming strained by the cry. He wasn't going to let anything happen...not to anyone...not anymore.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2007 7:12 pm

Ka blinked, watching Farlest, glancing toward Kenth and then back to the other boy. "Far..?" he started to ask and then almost jumped when the other suddenly darted off like that, screaming Alex's name - much as Kenth had.

Ooooh damn ... Ka hesitated for a second or two and then took off after Far, calling his name again. He hadn't really figured out how quickly Far could attach to others - even though he was one of the attachees. And so he didn't really understand why Far would just ... run off like that.

But the only real reason he had come here was to keep Farlest safe, so he knew where his path now lay ... following the other boy. He wasn't as fast as Far was, but he could keep up well enough to have the other within sight in a few seconds. "Far! Slow down!" he called.

"Ah...."

Lina lifted her head, in the middle of explaining what Wicked was about, when she heard two very loud cries.

Cries that could be distinctly made out into two syllables, though the words eluded her....

She almost ran blindly off into the forest. She had only taken a few steps instead when she crumpled to the ground, holding her stomach, taking deep breaths.

Suddenly her stomach hurt. A LOT.

At about the same time Dante raised his own head, able to detect the sounds with his sensitive ears. And who they belonged to.... "Doctor Kenth...?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2007 8:05 pm

Herei immediately moved towards Lina, seeing her motion before it was complete. He was a step behind her when she fell, just short of him being able to catch her; instead, he kneeled, putting his hand on her shoulder delicately. "Lina," he said kindly, smile still intact, "we must stay together. Please do not leave us; we have to stick to the plan, or else chaos will follow." He gave her a reassuring squeeze. "We'll find out what's going on when we get to the agreed meeting place. Breaking that now will only cause panic." The man leaned down so his face was closer to hers, his eyes dark, "There are children to think of."

He wouldn't imply anything further than that, standing and offering his hands to her for help. For some reason, she didn't strike him as the type to take such help...graciously.

RuiZhi blinked as Lina bolted, uttering a startled gasp. He heard something in the forest, and that worried him a little, knowing full well that his sister was part of the group in there. He watched Herei interact with Lina, worry creasing his brow; the boy glanced down the path. It was familiar, as the Doctor had described it, they must be--

"Hey!" he cried out, pointing, "we're almost there! Looks like we're the first to arrive!"

Elijah grew startled when Lina took off but as Herei took a hold of her he instantly felt a little better about the situation. He didn't really understand what had caused her to dart off like she did, but at least now it seemed to be alright, or at least it seemed with Herei looking after her. As he was about to step forward, he heard RuiZhi's exclamation and instantly turn his eyes to the path above and grinned. ''I'm glad," he chirped, hopeful they had finally made it.

Audun's expression mirrored youthly disgust as he watched the two young boys run off, one in pursuit of Alex and the other trying to catch the pursuer. Stupid.

Both had ignored the commands of the man that they had been willingly following earlier. Both had acted on, what Audun felt to be, stupid emotions. He knew it wouldn't lead to anything good, more like something that would end up getting them all seperated and killed in the end. Another reason why he absolutely hated living people.

He reached into his shirt sleeve one more time and pulled out the switchblade knife that he had kept tucked there, and he reached into his pocket to pull out the second. Audun was ambidexterious so fighting with two blades at once always suited his style...and it was pretty darn handy when he needed to do two things at once as well.

"So now what, Kenth? The boys going to be okay too, or are you going to try and stay the token a*****e for this group?"

He smirked with both his eyes and his mouth, the hilt of the switchblades resting easily against his pant legs. Should Kenth give the order, Audun would go and look for the boys. Should Kenth tell him to stay put or continue on, he'd do that instead. The children weren't his friends, Alex wasn't his friend.

Audun had no reason to risk his life for theirs. None.

Sable stood quietly, waiting to see what came out of all this lake business. He himself was curious to know what the boys thought they saw and- Wait, what? A body!? No, that couldn't be right. He looked in the direction of the lake, squinting -he really needed to get the prescription on his glasses checked- as he tried to get a closer look. "Y'know, it might just be a log...or...a duck," he said, looking bewildered as he said it. A duck, Sable? Since when did a duck look like part of a body?

Deciding it would be better to just stop talking -he was making no sense anyways- and just get a better look -given he was having trouble seeing something that far away- he started to walk towards the lake. He pushed his glasses up his nose again and tilted his head. Upon closer investigation, it was definitely not a duck. And...probably not a log. "Yes...yes, that's a body..." he finally relented. He squinted when the elf spoke. "Erm...I don't think..." He glanced back at the boys. Well, they could all probably figure it out. He looked back at the lake, scanning the surface for anything else...strange when Dante spoke again.

"Dr. Kenth?" he asked, turning to raise his eyebrows at the elf. What was he talking about?

Lina's eyes widened a bit, immediately understanding what the Professor was trying to say.

"...Yes." She said, taking the hand and allowing herself to be guided up. "I'm...sorry. I...my emotions have been on haywire...so I'm a bit out of whack," she laughed. "Thank you for reminding me to stay calm."

She turned her head to see--"Hey! You're right, we are first!"

Kenth bit down on his lips. This was not his day was it? First Alex, and now...these two...these STUPID kids!!!

"I'd care less..." Kenth muttered. "They have each other, so they'll be okay."

Not Alex though, she was alone, in the dark, back in that horrid place where Kenth felt as if nails were biting into his brain. If she didn't come back soon...

No, she'll come back. Alex was not the type of woman to get lost like that, she'll come back, and she'll be okay, just like usual. She's---

Kenth slapped himself abruptly to stop the thoughts. These thoughts, he feared, only put him in a worse state of panic. Why was he so useless? He couldn't even look after a small group of people! The shame stoke him hard, and Kenth was silent for a long time before he started his next sentence.

"Move on."

Herei would figure out what to do...

Kenth bit his lips again at the disgusting thought of asking for help from someone he envied.
