(( > <;; sorry..black, black hair. I keep forgetting..))
Hey...
Moving forward, he raised a hand as he prepared to call her name, when he stopped short. If Raven had been following close behidn him, she might have bumped hard into him, considering his abrupt stop.
Hey!
"!?" Turning his head to the side, he was bewildered, considering that he could see no one there, aside from those working on rebuilding; in short he couldn't see whoever it was that was calling out to him.
Hello, Vahn. Anyone nearby would have been able to hear the voice as well, and quite a few others were looking about as well.
This...This voice is...
Here, right here! The voice seemed to soften in mirth, even as yellowed eyes were brought to bear upon the remains of a rooftop. A black magpie could be seen pruning it's own feaths for a bit, before settling it's gaze once more on him. As slow as always.
"...Victor...!" His eyes widened, even as his left foot slid back, his right hand gripping tightly the handle of his Fang.
It's been a while... What's wrong? You look pale. Have you been taking care of yourself? Hehehe...
"T-The hell are you doing here?! Did you come just to laugh at me!"
Don't say such mean things. Aren't we both the same? After a couple of decades, this is how you treat your brother? Oh well, let's get to the point. The magpie moved it's wings a bit, flapping lightly before cocking it's head to the side; beady eyes trained on Vahn and Raven, and Tellus who wasn't that far off.
Come back to me. I'm in need of helpers. Come now, and I'll forget about the past.
"The hell?! Forget it!"
One more thing. The bird cawed softly, before settling again. If you come back, I'll also return the seal to you. That isn't too bad, isn't it?

eek *Rave had to dance a pace to the side to keep from walking into Vahn like the wall that he had suddenly become, and she peered up at him in concern at first before coking her head to the side to look back at the bird, listening as a slight snarl spread across her face, chaotic eyes whirling and changing * oh you are giving a bad name to birds little boy, and I may not know who you are, but I tend to take to people threatening my friends very badly.... evil *it was all said under her breath and likely only Vahn could hear the little elemental, but Raven had a good feeling that their new visitor would hear her as well*

High above- well, not so high that it couldn't see too well- was another black bird. And man, was it hot out here. Fortunately, the bird didn't mind- it was cooler up here than down there, that was for sure.
This one was a cousin of the magpie- a crow. So many black birds around lately- anyone who was suspicious would probably freak out by now. Of course, this crow was not here to speak to minds. It was here to simply observe and watch.
And... lookie here! People! And another bird... the man with black hair seemed to be looking at it in a stressful manner. As for the woman, she had red hair, and looked aggressive as she stared at the magpie. There was also a woman- one with long (read: very long) black hair who was walking into what looked like a tent.
Interesting, very interesting! The crow swooped down to look, riding a thermal before gracefully coming down for a closer look. No one would notice another black bird, simply enjoying the view- and if they did, they would pay it no mind.

A Lanner Falcon swooped downwards. Native to the desert, the bird flapped its wings once, settling into a dive. The crow roamed the falcon's home so casually, more concerned with a few figures below than its own survival, which was about to be cut short. The idea that a creature similar to itself could fly around like this, not paying attention to the nature of the desert, to its laws, rather annoyed our falcon friend.
The Lanner would let out a piercing cry, before its talons sank into the crow's back, its beak smacking against the back of the other bird's neck, snapping it with a loud smack sound that would be heard from some way off. Holding the crow in its talons, the falcon would flap off, finding a better spot to devour its prey in.

Of course, there were more birds than usual around. And almost four days later, another one appeared. This one was a raven, much like a crow. However, this was no ordinary raven... this one was sentient. Had more of a purpose than simply flying over the area.
It had taken almost a week to get here- perhaps the trail was still fresh- perhaps they had already moved on. In any event, the bird was here, and it was looking for something. As it landed behind a building on the outskirts of the city, the bird began to change.
Yes, change. As in shapeshift, change form, you get the idea. Over the next five minutes, the avian features would become more and more human. Dark skin would replace obsidian feathers, arms would replace wings and legs in place of... well, bird legs. The only thing that had not changed were the purple eyes.
When it- or rather he was done, the bird had turned into a six foot-one man of age twenty-one, lean but well-muscled and wearing mostly black. Short-sleeved, form fitting t-shirt, black cargo pants which were outfitted for special forces members, leather gloves, and the black, steel-toed boots. Even the katana that he normally wore was there- all four feet and three inches of it. The tsuka was of course, as black as the rest of him, the only color change being a silver inlaid japanese dragon running along the length of it. He also carried two tanto, which were sitting comfortably in thigh holsters for quick access.
Fortunately for him, he had brought a change in clothes that included clothing that reflected the sun instead of absorbing it. It was bloody hot out here, after all. He put on the mirrored shades that were his trademark, and put on his business face.
"Now then... where are you?"

Tellus turned towards the duo, the ponytail blowing in the breeze. She saw the bird but paid it no mind really. Her maki at the ready, she moved towards them unaware of what was going on.
"You know, Kas-kun, if there is really nothing more you can do maybe I should just get back to Gabi and James?" She blinked and caught just the end of the convo with the bird and looked at it in puzzlement.
"Friend of yours?" cocking a thumb at the bird and wondering what in the hell she had walked into. First a glass road, then a war, then Kas....being...something, and now a magpie that was getting yelled at.

He asked around, trying not to seem too eager to find them. The same descriptions- a man with black hair and brown eyes and a petite red head with blue eyes. There were a lot of people with black hair and brown eyes these days, but then he explained that he should have a very... unique weapon with him. No one acted like they had walked through, however. That is, until he walked into the local bar and found that they had indeed headed through town.
"You didn't hear this from me... but the people you were talking about were headed east of here. There's a tent down there with an old man in it- he doesn't come to town much other than to get what he needs. Keeps mostly to himself... if I were you, I'd stay away from the black-haired one."
Evan nodded, paid for the drink (and the information, seeing as the look in his eyes seemed eager for compensation for the otherwise well-kept secret), and headed towards that direction. The situation was as described when he got there- it looked like he was just in time.
Hn... there you all are. But why look funny at a bird? Unless, of course, the bird is a messenger... in which case the message can't be heard by anyone other than who it was intended for. Still, I think it would be wise to listen to your reactions... that'll be enough.
He was behind the building that the magpie was perched on top of. He didn't have to see everything- he could always listen. And listen he did.

The bird seemed to turn it's gaze within Raven's direction now, those beady eyes staring remorsely down at her. Allow me to explain, young lady. The seal which I speak of is a very unique spell, which had been placed on the both of us when we were adolescents. It's what has allowed my brother and I to continue to live much past our natural lives.
Vahn remained standing there in silence, yellowed eyes narrowed up at the bird. He couldn't help but feel curious and angry all at once.
His seal was removed by me. Since then, he ca't survive for much longer in this world! The bird cocked it's head in Vahn's direction. How about it? You know exactly what it feels like to be a bird without it's wings. You don't want to die do you? What I need back is the '100 man slayer'...that you once were.
Vahn's eyes were tightened shut at this point, and his head tilted down. The pain was evident across his face, even as seemed to ignore Tellus.
"No." His head lifted, the tone in his voice unmoving. "I found meaning to go on here... If I listen to you, then I have no reason for being here!!"
...My...My... Well. ... I figured you'd say that. So I guess you won't be needing that seal. Don't worry. Truth is I found replacements.
"You wouldn't..."
The bird lifted both wings, head tilting up, while it's eyes still stared downward at the trio. Your friends have interesting children. They all have powerful connections. They will be powerful allies.
"You wouldn't!!" His voice rose in decibles, even as the bird took off, no further words coming from it, only a distantly fading echo of laughter.

Interesting. Whoever's controlling that bird is definitely not a friend of Vahn over there. This could turn sour for Hono if she keeps going... I have to get her back to Durem. And that means alive, by any means necessary.
Hugin smiled briefly, wondering if this could get any more intriguing.
Looks like my intelligence paid off. Finally, something to cure my boredom. I'm sure everything will be fine in Durem... Well, not entirely sure, but I do hope so. In the meantime, I suppose I'll just have to figure out a way to get her out of this mess.
He decided to stay behind his cover for a bit longer, seeing as this was not the time to be seen. However, he would definitely approach her later this evening. For now, his first interview was with Vahn... now, if only Tellus and Hono would step away for a moment. Of course, there was the matter of Tellus being able to sense a particularly strong spirit... he had a handle on that as well.
From the moment he had entered the city, he masked his energy signature- in other words, he lowered his energy to a fraction of what it used to be. It were as if he had no soul at all- were it not for the single, tiny piece of energy that were left. It was the way he got past most with a keen sixth sense.
So then, all he had to do was wait...

Ha, you have got to be kidding me..... blaugh *what had been anger only a moment ago was now evidently mirth as she laughed quietly* Oh, Kas... that bad little bird is in for a nasty surprise xp
sweatdrop Threatening my children? That is a laugh... they have a much better chance than I do!*the laughter in her died out at that thought... but it was the truth. If this fellow had wanted to worry her, he should have attacked Tellus or herself head on.* stare yes... a very nasty surprise....
Song.... Stop worrying over me and watch out for your sister, I know how to take care of myself. She hasn't entirely got the hang of being mortal yet.... *the though was quiet but firm, Rave was certain that Sam could take care of herself, but knowing that Hugin was there to back his sister up if she needed him would set her mind at rest. She wasn't sure when she had noticed his attention, in fact she was not sure that he was even really around.*

She must have been imagining things. Seriously, she must have.
Not even she could have detected him with his energy reduction technique- and besides, his mental shields were at full. He was completely and totally undetectable, and behind cover at that. The thought was neither responded to, nor considered. In his mind, the only one who could possibly teach Munin enough about being mortal was standing right there.
For all intents and purposes, she could take care of herself. True enough. But this... he had a feeling that what was going down here went much deeper than even she realized. Wheels were in motion, and if she didn't move out of the way, she just might get run over by them this time.
No, he would stay here and face whatever gave him this... feeling of unease head on. Stubborn? Yes. Then again, he was her "older brother". Why not be stubborn?

The funny thing about Tellus was, if she had done anything even remotely intimate with a person, she was linked to them. It didn't have to be sex and in the case of Hugin, it was only a simple kiss. But that was more then enough, she got a tingle of his presence, but she wasn't really paying him much mind....other then wondering why he wasn't in Durem watching over her children, like he promised he would.
She ignored anything she got from the magpie. There was a reason she was here and she was here to do it. If she knew her children were in danger, she would have been pissed as all hell. But other then sending a small silent prayer for someone to watch over her children, she said little, keeping her thoughts to herself.
"So why did a magpie call you brother?"

The lack of concern both you women showcase for your children frightens me and frustrates me. I'm going to have to find another way, apparently, to get through to you both.

((I meant it in the most simplistic way... not even slightly sarcastic or rude sweatdrop , although I suppose that it came off that way... sorry)) *Hono tilted her head to the side for a moment tugging at her pony tail and pulling out two long black feathers, both shone blood red where the sun sparkled along their lengths*Um, I second though.... sweatdrop *she cleared her throat looking uncomfortable as she held out one of the feathers towards Vahn* I should check on Bren, Sam can take better care of herself than I can sweatdrop ... but Brendan is my baby boy 3nodding
*she sort of pushed the feather into his hand and started towards Tellus looking back over her shoulder at him* If you ever need a hand... please just... call on me?
*placing the other feather in Tellus hand and smiled weekly at the other woman* Call me when you are ready to come back... I'm sorry but I can't stay any longer...
*the feathers in place the red head simply disappeared in a cloud of black sparkles*
