Let me begin by disclaimer: I do not care if you're pro-war or anti-war over this thing in Iraq. However, there is a difference between disagreeing with policy, protests, and what these actors have done. This is vile, despicable, and no American citizen should support this kind of behavior.

If it was a war against a country, instead of 'terror', these men could be executed for TREASON.

uh....I don't agree with their actions. I think they've gone too far (if in fact the movie depicts what your only two sources, both conservative sources I might add, claim). To the point of being lewd.

However, an actor can act in whatever he likes. And outside of actually selling our government's secrets to our enemies I don't believe in being persecuted for "treason" for excercising the right to free speech.

I think this does not fall into the definition of the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies. You may see it differently. But I'm not about to go all McCarthy on people for simply being disloyal. Lots of people feel disloyal right now, feel they're not being heard. So they scream louder and some of them go into the realms of being lewd. Perhaps they are guilty of being indecent but they aren't guilty of treason.

And futhermore, I think the idea of treason is disgusting in a supposed democratic representative republic supposedly composed of the PEOPLE as the ruling entity. There is no monarch here, the government as it stands exists only for the people and because of the people. To act against the government and it's decisions as an entity is not acting against the true ruling body of this nation. Period.

Yeeeah, poor taste but treason? Eh, not by my definition.

The problem with freedom of speech is, that everyone wants to say what they want to say, and defend their right to say it, but the second someone else says their opinion, they want it silenced and start name-calling. It's a two-way street; we all have the right to say what we want to even if others don't like it. And let's face it, there will always be someone who hates what you have to say.

Let's try to keep things nice, ok? Politics is a very ugly realm to go into and we prefer to keep it out whenever possible.

Last thought and I'll leave it be:

Quote:
US law defines treason as:

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court." - Constitution, Section 3

"Whoever, owing allegience to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them and comfort with the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, orshall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000: and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."
- U.S. Code Title 18, Section 2381

Starring in movies depicting Americans as bloodlusty murderers definately gives the enemy aid and comfort.

Off your soap-box, please. That really wasn't necessary. I see you want to be right and I'm sure it makes you happy. But they're still protected under the First Amendment and you can't take that away from them regardless of how much it bothers you.

How about let's take the suggestion that this thread not be used for Politics, HMMM?

Why do kids love to watch the same movie a million time in a row? I know I have the power to say no, but alas I have not been granted to power to be bombared by insesint whining, and maintain my sanity! Perhapes they should start selling DVD's with the "parents edition" including, a blind fold, ear plugs, and continous play mode (so you don't have to keep hitting play) . rofl

I plan on buying Beauty and the Beast AND Aladdin this weekend to add to our rotation of Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Mulan.

Building an entire Disney classics library from scratch is a pain in the a**.

Also, I've resolved to NEVER buy a "II" version of any Disney classic. They all suck. The voices are different the songs and music in general is blah, and the animation is WAAAAAYYY horrible. Mulan II just solidified this, Lissa wouldn't even sit through part of it.

Pirate Dirge
Yeah, I kept thinking about it too and I can't figure out how driving while AGITATED with only one hand is the instinctual safe thing to do. I would have either handed the baby over to the passenger or made the passenger drive and gotten in the back. I understand wanting to get away but that was not the smartest thing she could have done by a LONG shot. All I could think about was what Loki already brought up: car accident happens and the baby is crushed to death by a burning hot air bag. ;o; Or if the air bag doesn't get him, she wouldn't be able to hold him against the impact of a crash.

Oh that's an interesting article you found, Gentle, gives a lot more detail then a lot of them and I thought the same thing they brought up: she doesn't look scared and the body guard doesn't look agitated.

I'm thinking she did another really stupid thing and assumed no one would call her on it.

I've just come to the conclusion that having tons of money and being allowed to do whatever she damn well pleases has gone to her head and affected her IQ or something. Stupid is as stupid does. Her wannabe rapper husband isn't too much brighter, so I guess they deserve each other... but I just feel really sorry for their son. neutral And that possible baby #2 they have apparently talked about having.

Sorry, just a person rant after reading several articles about her in People magazine at work. scream I can't stand her.

I'm totally with you on the sequels. Like Bambi II coming out, geez. The sales ladie at Toy's r us tried to talk me into reserving a copy. "bambi II?" rolleyes , and she says "yeah didn't you know he had a son?" . That's not even what the movie is about! stare We were luck enough to inherite all the classics from my MIL. Unfortunately having a hundered movies doesn't matter, Sascha still only wants the one over and over until I hate it. gonk

I baby sit on the side for the lady 6 flights above me. Her little girl, Jamie, wants to watch B&B over and over and over. I can't even say it.

So once a week we always have "Oposaite Night" (SP?)

Where we do everything backwards, like we watch a diffrent movie.

Sometimes we do it two times a week. But it's fun, cus we talk silly and run around backwards.

Gah...I hate that...my 3 1/2 year old is OBSESSED with the Leap Frog pre-reading DVD...if I let him he would watch it all day every day...as it is we watch it at least 3-5 times a day it seems...and while I should be happy that it's at least something educational...I just don't know how much more I can take of "First you take the 'H', then you take the 'at', put them all together...Now you've got 'Hat'!!!" and so on and so forth...

XD I have about two years before I have to worry about this. But I know when I was little it was being read Green Eggs and Ham: I had to hear it every night at least once. My mom still has a visible twitch anytime the book is mentioned.

My son used to be OBSESSED with My Neighbor Totoro. It go to to the point where I started to actually hate the movie (and that's saying a lot because Miyazaki = my hero).

Luckily he got over it though. And now he's all about watching Thomas the Tank Engine a million times.

My daughter is hooked on this ONE Strawberry Shortcake vide we have. And gawd help me... it's HORRID!! I mean, for a 3 year old little girl, it's perfect. But I cannot STAND it!!! I'm sooo hoping she'll start gravitating to something else soon!

And nopen, I'm with ya on building a Disney collection from scratch. That's what we had to do as well. I think the sequels usually suck as well.

Spears? I've seen it on a tabloid, that's it though. I don't usually watch celebrities except for when people show me things.
