He’d scooted over for Raine so she’d have a better view of the television, but she took a seat in a chair nearby instead. Ever so subtly, he stretched to check himself for a bad odor, figuring that his scent might be what had warded her so far away. “Yeah… crazy schedules…” The native agreed with a slight nod when she cited the potential reasons for them not seeing much of each other. “Plus with your honors course load, you’re probably always stuck with a book to your nose.” He teased, dimples forming around his smile.
He nodded again when she said something about the amount of field missions they’d been taking on. “And when we aren’t doing that, there’s always training to be had… Especially if said field missions aren’t completed without issue.” The look on his face said it all: one thing or another had gone wrong with all of their recent missions. The training made them better for it, but his C’est la vie attitude still had not transformed into one a little more ambitious.
Reverting their attention to the television, Aren started explaining the reasoning for cartoons - Cammi had demanded he get in touch with the nerdier part of being an American boy before he was allowed to touch the X box again. He’d vowed to watch at least five episodes to give the show a chance. “So far it’s not bad…” He said, briefly explaining Edward and Alphonse’s plight. Shrugging he glanced over to the dark haired woman as she hid her mouth from view and thought about her for a second. Even the way she snacked was dainty. “At least it’s an interesting concept. At first she tried to make me watch some sort of high school club show….” Clearly by the way he said it, he wasn’t interested in that line of cartoons.
Rather than continue talking about a show he suspected Raine cared little about, Aren directed the conversation toward her, asking how she was holding up after the botched mission. She delved into the pandemonium that happened after, and he listened all the same - obviously it bothered her. “Yeah… most of the school is still reeling from that whole mess.” He’d specifically avoided speaking about it to Narcissa - figuring she would show no outward mercy for the girl still rendered unconscious by the attack.
The human sparkplug seemed to catch on he had initially asked about their mission to the compound, and explained a little of that, still obviously angry from the whole ordeal. At the time, Narcissa had been irritated that the Alphas had been handed the more dangerous assignment, but in all honesty, Aren was relieved they hadn’t gone… At least the Alphas had protective powers… Most of the Omegas were all brute force. “I wonder if they pinpointed who orchestrated the bad tip… And if that person will soon know where we’re staying...” Glancing up at the ceiling, he felt a chill come over him. If they found them at home… Would they be able to make it out, when they’d dug the hole they were in?
Raine mentioned the Omegas’ trip to the mall and Aren shrugged. “We have a lot of heavy hitters to take out a sentinel. Thank god it was only one… But, I think the whole trip has lead Ki’somma to believe Daylia is expecting. I guess she started puking on the side of the mission, and was all around sluggish...” He hadn’t been aware she’d been seeing anyone outside of Gracie… but stranger things have happened, right?

The length and intensity of Bella’s gaze betrayed her suspicion, and a pang of sadness overrode his expression before he could stop it. Letting a few seconds pass, his eyes traced the bed rails before he looked back at her. “Things have changed quite a bit since that day I glued you to the tree in front of the mansion.” His charming grin returned underneath the stubble as he recalled the memory. “I wouldn’t release the molecular adhesive until you shouted to the world that I had officially won the prank war and that you conceded to my superior skill.” He said gently making it easier for her to confirm that the man standing before her was the real thing.
Still though, she almost seemed to cower when he reached for her hand and he hid any disappointment from his features. “It’s fine.” He assured her quietly, his southern twang hanging onto the edge of the silence forming between them as she checked him over. Doing what he could to ease her guilt, he made a small crazy cat joke. “None of this is your fault.” There was a sharpness to his tone when he said it, though he bridled his temper almost as soon as he spoke.
“You can’t know everything all the time, doll.” He intoned gently, hoping to coax her to remember the progress she had been making. They had been doing so good, restoring her faith in herself… He didn’t want to see her regress because one of her team members went full-on rogue.
Katerina attacking her did come as a surprise because the shapeshifter had been successful… but it only served as a warning to most that they couldn’t trust the former Hydra agent. Why Scott had deemed her fit to be on a team, working with people she would have considered her enemy… Pressing his lips together, his sigh flared through his nostrils as he reminded himself that now wasn’t a good time to focus on that.
Bella slowly lifted herself from the bed, and the cowboy tensed, no agreeing with her decision to leave the med bay before she was deemed fit to. “You almost died… two days might not be sufficient enough time for your body to have fully recovered.” The firmness in her voice bade that he not argue, but he refused to cow just yet. She resembled a train wreck victim… none of the med bay would be happy to see her trying to leave so soon. Citing the fact that the senior X-men would still want to see her, Bella relented momentarily as she tried to explain.
Listening to her recount the chaos, he couldn’t help but notice how she swayed unsteadily on her feet. Blake moved closer, ready to catch her before she could collide with the floor. When she paused to try and collect her thoughts, Blake pulled her into an embrace, resting his chin on her head; he only pulled back when a dry laugh seemed to choke her and she started speaking again, as though something had just clicked.
“Anyone who witnessed someone hurting their friend would respond.” Maybe not quite as drastically as Leo… The extreme reaction had many confused - it seemed so out of character for what they had seen of him - ever responsible, typically level-headed… Now he was being contained like a dog with rabies. A part of him felt as though he were missing something, but it just seemed out of reach. “I’m just sorry she used you as a pawn.” He murmured, unsure of what else to say.
Crossing his arms across his chest, he inhaled sharply when Bella muttered a curse under her breath and searched the floor for answers it wasn’t qualified to give. Both said nothing for quite a bit of time, and the med bay staff filed in to check on their patient. In an effort to give the people some work space, he nodded to the door. “Once they’ve checked your vitals and stuff… We can go check on Rossi if you’d like. I know you won’t want for your friend to be alone down there.”

Shopping might have been a fun excursion had the MRDs not ruined it, but ruin it they did. That didn’t stop either Daylia or Gracie from making little glibs at the officer’s expense. “A little Rosy Palm and her five friends.” The dark-haired girl added in a fit of giggles. It was a wonder the man behind the door took their existence as a threat so seriously - obviously they weren’t giving him the same courtesy.
“Still not letting the fact that you like them fuzzy go.” Gracie warned with a menacing grin. She started to ask if Daylia thought all of him was covered with the blue fur, but the guy rattled the door again and disrupted her line of thinking.
They fell back on the conversation of clothes as their uniforms finally appeared and Daylia seemed a little offended by Gracie’s description of the girl’s wardrobe. Cocking an eyebrow, she stop to look at her friend dead in the eye. “Ask our Sunspot what she thinks of all those sweatshirts.” She said in a challenge. Instead of tube tops, the Georgia peach suggested a corset and her friend seemed totally down with that. “Not that kind of onesie.” Gracie said, just as her friend got it.
Just as they passed through the wall, she left the MRD a parting gift and immediately sought out water for the pair of them before setting out to find a safe exit. “I should work on manipulating the probability of opening portals…” She grumbled, wishing her mutation worked that precisely. As soon as they found an exit sign, Kerri’s voice sounded through their comms, asking for their location, and shortly after brought the pair of new Omega boys to save them.
After a jokes where Christian served as the butt, they started moving toward the rendezvous point - until Daylia slowed down to puke. “At least today was memorable.” Gracie noted, silently counting the things that she could poke fun at her friend for later. The whipping remark, her puking… her crush on Nightwing… A few more giggles later, and Narcissa brought up the rear to hurry them along.
--------- Base side ---------
Once the berating was over, Gracie helped Daylia up from her crouched position, sounding like the dutiful team member for Narcissa’s benefit. But once they were out of sight, the brunette steered them in a different direction and vented about the mission. “Maybe you shouldn’t…” Gracie whispered, her heart sinking into her stomach as she admitted to herself that she was a liability. “I’ve been working with Emma when she’s free… but I’m not immune to telepathic attacks.” If Bruce found her there was no telling what he would force her to do. A shiver trilled up her spine as that thought took root.
“Why would Narcissa question your abilities?” Gracie asked, shocked at the notion that Daylia had done something wrong. “When have you ever not been old reliable on a mission?” There were a lot of things said about Daylia Astrallo on campus - none of them dubbed her incompetent. “I wasn’t going to let you go down.” She said, refusing to believe that would have happened. “Though I did step away from you while you puked. Taco bell does not smell good once stomach acid hits them.” Her features scrunched in distaste as the scent flooded her memory and she fought gagging herself.
Jokingly, Gracie thanked Daylia for the ordeal, stating her waistline would stay trim with that memory so fresh. Instructing her friend to rest, she shook her head when her friend suggested that she’d forget soon enough. “I doubt I’ll want any junk food tomorrow… and if I do, just remind me of the pile you left them at the mall.” That should do the trick to curb her appetite.
Time skip.
Two days had done very little to settle Gracie’s nerves and self-doubt. Emma had been busy dealing with the aftermath of the assignments, so the one thing that might have made her feel a little more secure had been out of the question. Instead the hex generator had focused on staying in shape, allowing the exercise to serve as a conduit to lower her anxiety level. If she stayed too busy to sit and stew, if she exhausted herself to the point of passing out… She didn’t have to feel two inches tall.
So far, it had worked. So long as she stayed under the radar while she figured out how to bury her feelings, it would continue to work.
Unfortunately, more and more Omegas had decided to hit the gym for their own reasons… and as soon as she spotted Kerri doing handstand pushups near Dimitri, she pulled off the boxing gloves and gathered her things. Of all of her teammates, Kerri was one she particularly wanted to avoid. While she loved the redhead to pieces, the woman’s intuitive nature would allow her to read straight through her fronts - and would push her to talk about issues that Gracie had come to realize she couldn’t fix. No heart to heart could fix how she felt, and her friend would care enough to want one.
Sneaking out of the gym and into the greenhouse, Gracie darted to the back just in case and let out a breath she’d been holding once she felt safe. Turning on one of the sprinklers overhead full blast, the brunette stood under the water and let it rinse the grime of a hard workout off of her skin, not caring in the slightest that her clothes were getting soaked.
She might have continued not to care if she hadn’t opened her eyes to see Luke standing in front of her. Startled, hazel eyes widened and she took an involuntary step back, readying her hands for a blast before she could stop herself. Almost as quickly as she posed, Gracie’s arms fell to her side. One hand catching her hip, she started to fabricate a story as to why she thought the greenhouse had a better shower.
Thankfully, Luke didn’t start poking fun at her for avoiding the actual locker room, but of course he had to notice her bloodied knuckles. Staring down at one of the splits, the Omega woman tried for a simple answer. “I didn’t realize they’d gotten that bad.” She said, slightly surprised at the damage. Shrugging, her lips pulled upward into a smile as she tried to mask all the unfettered anger she’d been channeling into the punching bag a few minutes ago. “I worked on my hand to hand form for an hour before I thought to put on boxing gloves.” Gracie explained, still not quite answering his original question.
“What brings you here?” She asked, reaching over to the pipe to shut off the water as she realized what a stupid question that was. Duh, plant manipulator - greenhouse - plants. Her features fell with her growing exasperation with herself. “...You don’t have to answer that.” She said, burying her eyes with the palm of her hand. “I swear sometimes I’m really a blond at the root.”
Seriously, if she kept this up... Luke was not only going to think her batshit crazy, but amazingly stupid as well.

Collin gave the impression of laughing to herself watching Gabriel. He seemed like a rather stubborn guy but she liked that-showed he had moxy as Reese would say to describe it. She stopped her giggling and accepted his handshake while typing on her phone's keypad with her other hand, it was only natural that she do the same as he was doing. She held it out for him to read and formed a sideways grin,"Nice to meet you Gabriel yes I'm Collin, I hope to go by Amp when I'm with you guys," and she brought it down once he was done reading her greeting. She felt her heart skip a beat when he said there was freshly squeezed juice,"Awesome!" She raised her hands up in the air and pumped them, similar to the dance move of 'raising the roof' along with a large smile to express her glee. She stood up and walked over to stand by Gabriel while looking in the fridge for this delicious beverage. It wasn't too hard- her eyes met with it rather quickly and she quickly grabbed the container and placed on the counter. She reached up to grab some glasses; not sure if anyone else wanted some, then poured her a glass. She took a large gulp and imitated a pleasing sigh, 'Dear god it's heavenly-?' She took another quick sip and nodded at Alex to acknowledge her own introduction and waving with her other hand,’Hello!’As Alex went to question Charlotte Collin gripped her orange juice with both hands and continuing to sip, it was really good it was keeping that grin on her face...Talking with these guys was pretty nice. She had feared since she got there as a mere trainee she wasn't going to fit very well, but it only took a gun and some orange juice to get them all talking to each other like they all knew each other- well they probably did but feeling include...it felt nice. Alex was even offering to make breakfast to share wow that's really nice of her! Charlotte's voice snapped Collin out her thoughts, making her turn in her direction. After she had spoken with sign Charlotte noted that she didn't know it, but Collin just shrugged her shoulders and typed a message on her phone while taking another sip of juice, ”It's no problem I don't expect anyone too. Just a reflex on my part,”While her family and close friends learned SL for her she never expects anyone to learn it. In the years she's been silent she feels she communicates just fine with or without it. It was when someone pointing it out or poke at it in a negative way that it would begin to bother her. Of course no one here seemed to be like that so that worry was far from her mind.
Charlotte answered her earlier question about the status of the Omegas- even though Collin has no idea what to base their previous status on- and it made her slump ever so slightly in the shoulders. Again she didn't really have a clear idea of what exactly had happened, she was only hearing whispers in the hall and during class. She wasn't feeling sad anymore but was now feeling kinda irritated at herself. She wanted to do what she could now. She had just gotten the notice of her promotion to a team but then without even thinking about any of The Alphas she goes off to visit her mother and brother after hearing about him doing something incredibly stupid and getting injured. He was okay, but thinking about what all was happening here to the team she was now a part of, she couldn't help but let it eat at her a little. She needed to show her determination to be here. She wasn't sure when she would see them or even talk to them again, so she would have to make the best of her time in this place. She picked up her skateboard and held it behind her back and typed a message out to show the three of them,"I want to train! How do I do that here?" In her time before getting promoted she had worked with her powers and studies with the normal class students, but now the position she was in she knew there was going to be a lot more work. She loved a challenge but still felt like she was going in blind,”I feel I should do something. I have no idea what all really happened to the team it's making me feel a little useless. Whatever I can do to help I want to do it!” she let her fingers fly around the keyboard typing her long message to them. Surprisingly there weren't any spelling errors.
Thoughts: Having a nice morning Location: [Kitchen] With: Some of the Alpha Team? Is this the other twin or...
Usually he was not the kind of person to want to get out of his bed in the morning. In fact, he was casually resting his head on pillows, toying around with the mobile device that dared spawn an addiction, something he clearly did not need.
“I’ll be out the bed in just a few minutes” he would assure himself. It was only when the MOBA he played ended poorly did he decide to roll from under the covers and hit the showers. Hot water and soap and a dry towel later, he was out of his room in just a gray sweater and black jeans on his way to the kitchen.
It would not be a regular day if the kitchen was deserted. Someone in one form or another was always in there, particularly in the morning. What he was not expecting was for his ears to hear the sound of a surprised reaction? Did someone have an encounter with one of the bugs occasionally roaming around? Was it more than just a bug and instead a rodent? His mind stopped coming up with thoughts while it was ahead of itself and he took it upon himself to force his body into the kitchen despite whatever caused the small ruckus. To his relief, there was no large spider or rat running around. There was just a man fidgeting around, assumably, with his toys and three women.
“Busy morning already, eh?” At least it seemed that way if they did not respond to him. They were fixated on one of the girls, who had a phone in her hand holding it out before them. Not one to make a scene for the time being other than what he already said, he opened the cabinets, reaching for a bowl and a glass. He whisked out the milk, a banana and an apple to chop and mix into his oatmeal, leaving it to heat up in the microwave. One task was done. Now he just had to brave himself for the awkward first time hello. Fortunately for him, maybe he could avoid saying that word.
“Oh that’s easy” he was looking at the screen of the phone at last, having made his way behind the group of individuals, using his height to peer over them and see what was interesting about the device. “If you’re looking for somewhere in particular to train, the gym or danger room seems like the best places.”
He really could not afford to be subtly honest. What he really was thinking was to tell her to run like hell at all costs. They had a team leader marked for death who in her own right could render someone batshit crazy with half of the incidents she got herself into. The person who was out to get her was not exactly sane either. He smiled a bit before raising his hand with the glass in the air. He thought about letting her shake his hand, but she seemed a bit busy with her phone, Marcel guessing it was her only source for being able to communicate for the time being.Instead, he just let the juice come to him. The liquid rising out the jar and landing in his cup.
“I doubt not knowing what happened is a cause to be useless. Out of curiousity, what can you do?”
He was assuming everyone present was an Alpha. Two were obvious, but the twin thing confused him at times..

Maddy slapped water back in Jacen’s general direction, soap bubbles popping on her cheek from the boy flinging water at her. Her eyes still hadn’t left the drenched pug, who was paddling around in the suds. The dog sent tiny splashes of water as it haphazardly slapped at the water in an attempt to move towards them. “I don’t know who she is but she is mine now, and I love her.”
Christian, however, broke her focus when he started yelling about shots. It had taken longer than usual for alcohol to be brought up when these sorts of things happened at the Academy, but it was honestly inevitable. Maddy cracked a wide smile and swam to the side of the pool where Christian was waving the bottle at her. Wiping the water from her eyes and pushing her drenched hair back, Maddy let out a slight groan when she realized it was a bottle of tequila. They were just looking for her to make terrible decisions. In an hour she’d be trying to make out with somebody or else be half drowning.
Pushing herself up onto the side of the pool, Maddy let her legs dangle down into the water. She gestured for the bottle, and took a long swing. She shook her head and let out a gasp after swallowing, the tequila burning the back of her throat. Wincing, she put the bottle up to her lips again, with the effort ending in the same result. “s**t, ah, ********> she sputtered, holding the bottle out for somebody to take it off of her. “Jacen!” she called, waving the bottle towards him, before she set it on the tile next to her.
Sufficiently stung by the booze and slinking back into the pool, Maddy peered around the water to see where the pug had ended up. The round of black and tan fuzz was spotted moving towards Tara and the slide, only to get waved away by the girl with a wave. “Oi, leave my child alone!” she shouted after Tara, as a girl whom Maddy had not noticed before came in, shouting after the dog as well. For a moment that lasted longer than it really should have, Maddy fully considered fighting the girl for the dog’s attention. Or at least having a competition like a direct-to-VHS 1990s movie where they compete for the dog’s loyalty in order to gain legal custody.
The new girl announced herself as Parker, and the pup as Celina, which scratched the names ‘Summer’, ‘Ginger’, and ‘Solaris’ off the list of names Maddy had been considering for the pooch. “No, I am Jetsam, King of the Sea!” she declared, in a deep, mock-manly voice, as Charlie tried to do the formal introductions for them.
“I may actually stab you if you take this angel away from me right now.” She wasn’t really kidding on that one, though she was grinning as she said it. She would be the non-chill Omega Charlie mentioned.
Why were they always Alphas, though? This one had enough tattoos, she could easily be an Omega. That’s how that was determined, along with a psych eval meant to determine how likely you were to join the Brotherhood if left to your own devices.
Maddy whistled after Celina again, making a big dumb smile to match the dog’s as she swam over to the edge of the pool again after Charlie decided it was time for her to drink again.

Always one to act like a absolute child, Jacen stuck his tongue out as Maddy splashed water back at him. He gave a lazy salute in the direction of the other two as he introduced himself “Jacen. Nice to meet you Charlie. Christian.” He nodded to both boys in turn, smiling warmly at the prospect of some fun in the otherwise drab bunker. “Oh gosh, more soap? What flavor even is this?” he responded to Christian, self-awareness distinctly absent from his voice.
Alcohol and X-Men went together like peas and an extremely dangerous brand of carrots. Even in a bunker in the middle of nowhere, teenage mutants were always able to procure whatever their professors would frown upon them having. At least it was a Canadian bunker, no pesky age limit for them to worry about. And besides, their new friends seemed to have good judgment. How else could they have come up with this pool slide? He drifted to edge of the pool after Maddy, as Christian (Jacen could already tell he’d have a difficult time remembering which of these newcomers was which,) ordered a shot from all who wished to reap what the two had so inventively sowed.
The pug was an adorable addition to the proceedings, waddling and paddling its way between the students with a rhythmic pant. Most were more than willing to shower it with affection, save for a notable exception. “What’s the matter Tara, not a dog person?” The Octomega scratched the pup as he swam past before reaching the edge of the pool. He looked up at the geomancer as he spoke, the Alpha clearly more interested in the slide than the canine.
“Language, Maddy. There is an impressionable present.” Jacen gestured to the pug pointedly, Maddy almost beaning him with the drink of the day. He reached over and grabbed the bottle as she set it down, treading water as he paid his fee. The Octomega had had far, far worse, but his skin still flared a bright blue as he gulped the shot down. Jacen smacked his lips and gently put the drink back where it had been, otherwise not outwardly phased by the taste.
A hand planted on the pool’s siding, Jacen pulled himself out of the water in one motion, excited to be next in line for the main attraction. A distraction in the form of a new Alpha burst out from the hall, making it clear that she was the caretaker for the pooch that had joined the party. Jacen waved as the girl completed her conversation with the dog, Charlie giving his name in introduction. he was in unknowing agreement with Maddy, sometimes he could swear the higher-ups just picked teams out of a hat.
Maddy interrupted Charlie because of course she did, claiming Jacen’s codename for her own. For a brief moment he wondered if she’d changed her name before he did and it had just never come up before. “Be nice Jetsam, I’m sure you can get joint custody.” He rolled his eyes as Psyche threatened the new girl, shaking some excess wetness from his hair.
Once it was his turn up to bat, there wasn’t even a question of if he was going to ride that body board standing up. Barreling down the slide, he managed three spins, splattering suds as he finished each three sixty before running out of runway and plunging into the pool. A childhood of skim boarding finally paying off. He popped out of the water with a grin. "Where'd you guys even find this thing?" He asked, throwing the board like a massive, ill-weighted Frisbee to whoever was next in line. He couldn't imagine anyone thinking to pack beach gear for a trip to Canada.
A buddy of mine saw Jacen take his shirt off and he said that Jacen had an 8 pack. That Jacen was shredded.
Your friend is a liar man, Jacen Reilly is a punk b***h.

Team:Omegas Location: Room || Gym Thinking:Work Up a Sweat
Kerrigan found herself in the gym with Dimitri, the redhead setting in for some calisthenics while the Alpha volcano worked out with some weights. She complimented the boy on his form before kicking herself into a handstand. He insisted that she couldn't plagiarize him, the redhead laughing slightly. "I promise, you'll get full credit the day that happens," she responded with a soft grunt, returning standing as she completed her tenth rep. She asked him how he was holding up, the Alpha insisting that he was doing alright physically, but emotionally and mentally, he was managing. The redhead gave him a sympathetic smile, wanting to assure him that it would get better. Admittedly, she hadn't had her leader almost annihilated by one of their own, but it seemed like they were dealing with it for the time being.
"Well, it's only been a few days since all of that craziness went down. I'd be a bit more concerned if you weren't affected by what happened. It's normal to need some time to recover from the kinds of shocks that you guys had in your mission and then when you got back. Just hang in there," she offered, giving him another smile before kicking herself back into a handstand to do another rep of standing push ups. He turned the tables on her by asking how she was doing, the redhead exhaling with each rep, speaking between each one.
"Oh, I'm fine and dandy, thanks," she started, grunting once again as she pushed her arms straight once more, shifting naturally to keep her balance as she held the handstand. "No Cinnabon, though. Watching my figure," she retorted with a breathy laugh, clearly kidding around. A consequence of her need to stay in peak condition all the time, and the fact that she went to a school with higher physical education requirements than most other schools, was that she never felt like she had to really "diet." One more reason for the Academy X ladies to be jealous of her, right?
The pair were shortly joined by one of the newer additions. Dimitri asked the new face if he was, in fact, new, the redhead taking advantage of their talking to kick back into a handstand and do another rep of push ups. Darien wasn't on her team, so she didn't know much about him, but he zeroed in on Dimitri, asking if his teammate perhaps wanted a partner to train with. She was starting to feel that burn in her muscles that she loved, leaving the two boys to compare sizes and initiate their own practice sparring session. It was kind of cute, really.

Alice was grateful for all the help she was getting, even though her natural stubborn attitude wouldn’t admit it. Her sass, though, was getting shot right back at her by Blake. She stuck her tongue out at him when he told her he would get her the mystery flavored Dum Dum suckers if she kept it up. “No, there is one mystery flavor that is really good. The other one is coconut or something like that. So, don’t be mean unless you want me to wake you up at three in the morning every single day for the next three months and force you to run with me.”
Soon, she kicked everyone else out of the room when Elixir arrived, allowing the golden mutant to heal her unbothered by the growing crowd. She took a moment to rest after everyone was gone, waiting patiently for Blake to return with her lollipop and with a plan to get her to stay here. She’d need a room. And at some point she would have to go shopping for more clothes.
--Time Skip--
The next couple of days was filled with Alice trying to get settled in, and trying to learn where everything was at the base. The layout wasn’t something that she was used to. And she had seen Blake a few times, and took the time to hunt down Roland, Charlotte, and Aren to apologize for her behavior. It wasn’t that she was really that sorry, but she had been rude. Which is what happened when she was surrounded by a fight, especially if she couldn’t do anything to help it.
She hated feeling useless.
Blake had done a pretty good job getting her settled in, and showing her the ins and outs of the base. But, it still wasn’t home in her mind. Home was the mansion. Home was nothing but a pile of rubble resting on a cracked and damaged foundation. Maybe one day they would be able to rebuild the mansion.
In the morning, Alice got up at her normal early rise. She didn’t actually wake up at three in the morning on a regular basis, but she did wake up at five-thirty to get ready to start her work out. A balanced and light breakfast and a change of clothes later, Alice was ready to head down to the gym.
It took longer to find the room than she had hoped. It was her first day getting back into her routine of working out since she had gotten to the base. The location of everything was still dodgey in her mind. She would have to make Blake draw her a map. Maybe. She wasn’t sure on the older mutant’s drawing skills.
She entered the gym, quickly realizing that she wasn’t the only person in the gym. Not that she could really be bothered. Well, maybe. She forgot her headphones in her room. Which meant that she couldn’t drown out talking. Which meant she might have to be conversive. Which meant she needed to be nice…
Alice made a b-line for the weight bench, standing in front of them for a long moment as she eyed the various weights. Finally, she settled on two fifteen pound weights before she put them down on the ground in front of her, getting down onto the ground in a push-up position and took the weights in her hands, balancing her upper body on them.
Finally, the repetition of lowering, raising herself up, and then lifting her left arm to her chest, then back down, up, right arm to her chest. The working muscles felt amazing. It wasn’t a burn, not yet, but just feeling her body wake up to the reaction of movement, of lifting, the way her muscles flexed and relaxed. That’s what made her feel better. That’s what was going to make this place her home.
This is a fight for love, lust, hate, desire

Darien flashed an ecstatic grin as his fellow Alpha took him up on his sparring offer."Yeah, I'm new. Alpha team, actually. I don't remember if we've met before, so . . . I'm Darien."Giving a brief glance around, the fighter found somewhere to set his jacket and took the chance to limber up and stretch a bit. As Kerrigan continued with her workout, Darien gave a call out to her, "Hey, I've got no problem if you want to join in. I mean, if the powerhouse over here doesn't mind having a team-mate in this little training session, and don’t be afraid that you’ll hurt me."
Rolling his neck and shoulders a bit, he started a light bounce on his toes to get a bit of rhythm and hype up while he waited for a signal. Being underground like this wasn’t as bad for him as it might have been for some of the others. He was used to it from his livelihood before getting rescued and recruited. Though it didn’t feel like home yet, that could probably be fixed with a few trips up to grab some things from the surface to stick in his room.“So, what’re your powers, you two?”, he asked, hoping to strike up a small conversation and maybe learn a bit more about the people he’d quite possibly be spending the rest of his life with down here. He had noticed Alice come in, but she seemed like she wanted to be left alone, so he actively kept his distance.
Name: Isabella Stone Location: X-Men Facility - Medical Bay Team: Alpha
“You can say that again.”, Isabella spoke woodenly, words crackling in a dual toned whisper. Emerald eyes grew distant and cloudy as she tried to remember life before leading the Alpha’s…But it was too far away. It wasn’t that she couldn’t recall the scenario he mentioned. It was that the sense of happiness it typically evoked had simply eroded to the point where she didn’t recognize it anymore. It made her despondent.
At the very least, she reasoned, it was an event that only Blake would know about.
For his sake she forced a small smile when it was appropriate. She could see that he was trying to make her comfortable and felt the need to try. He didn’t deserve the mood she was in. He insisted that none of this was her fault…But it was. She should have removed Katerina from the mission the moment she started casually tossing around threats. In retrospect she should have just cancelled altogether. It would have saved everyone a world of heartache.
That was on her. No one else.
Her eyes betrayed her thoughts on the subject though she kept them low to the floor. She didn't want Blake to see. Emotion blessedly became hidden for a moment as her eyes tiredly fell completely closed. She swallowed hard when he continued to try and comfort her. It was just like him. Blake was always there. So kind, so patient, and understanding. She used to have no trouble finding the bright side of things…But not this time, not yet.
“It’s no excuse. This would have never happened to Narcissa, Derek, or Evelyn.”, she countered almost inaudibly. Her tone wasn’t bitter. It was simply a point of fact. Narcissa ruled the Omega’s with an iron fist, just as Derek had. Evelyn, the former leader of the Alpha’s, had led in a magnificent way that Isabella could never duplicate. The songstress had spent most of her younger years looking up to her and hanging on her every word. The Alpha’s had followed her every order without complaint.
“Evie brought Gideon to our side. He was a wild animal when he was with HYDRA. He was just as violent and thrice as out of control as Katerina—but she tamed him easily. I can’t even breathe without setting her off.”
Isabella needed to try harder. She needed to do better. Blake pointed out that she’d almost died when she forced herself into a standing position. The reminder caused her to hide a flinch as her fingers curled around bed rail. She didn’t want to disappoint him, but she couldn’t spend any more time laying on her back doing nothing. Not when Leo was locked up with Katerina. That was torture. What was Scott thinking?
At the very least she tried to explain what happened. It was a gentle effort to try and make Blake understand what she needed to do… But her body didn’t seem to agree. She swayed and the Texan wrapped her up in his arms before she could say anything differently. Again, she tensed as his heartbeat filled her ears.
The last person that had held her this close had tried to kill her.
“Leo isn’t just anyone. They have a history that is…”, she swallowed hard again when Blake pulled away, throat dry. The room was infinitely colder now and she unintentionally shivered. “Beyond brutal.”
“They were soldiers when we were playing in the Danger Room. They were fighting and killing when we were safe in the mansion with the Professors. They were on opposite sides of a bloody war that until I met Leo…I didn’t know existed.”, Isabella continued on, her arms slowly wrapping around herself as she folded inward both emotionally and physically. Blake would have had to have been deaf not to hear how her heart ached for both of them--Despite what Katerina had done to her. “I should have seen her coming…”
“She hates him. Us. What else does he have that is within her reach to take away? What other weakness does he have?”, she questioned the dim corners of the room, not entirely expecting Blake to reply. It was rhetorical. The answer was pretty clear. Up until they’d started spending more time together when he’d returned…He’d been an island unto himself.
Isabella was so incredibly wounded by what Katerina had managed to do… Blake would never truly know the depths of it. The physical trauma wasn’t the worst for her. The mental effect…It was lasting. “Her shape shifting… It’s so real. His heart beat was identical. It looked like him, felt like him, smelled like him…”
“But the eyes—”
The Siren clammed up immediately when someone knocked on the door. It would take the rest of her life for her to forget eyes so dark—so black, so filled with hate. The eyes that she knew and cared for were blue. They were kind when they fell to her. She didn’t know the person that Katerina had created.
She needed to see Leonardo to maintain her sanity. She would NOT leave him alone in this. Perhaps that would help banish the last image she had of him.
Isabella nodded towards Blake when he agreed to let her leave if Elixir gave her the green light. Eventually, Joshua did just that, but with some stern warnings and orders to check back in after dinner. One of the nurses brought her a change of clothes and pointed to the bathroom where toiletries were for a shower. From there Isabella was single minded. Hair still wet and hastily braided back she gave the Texan that waited outside a half smile. It was still sad, but for him, she truly tried. “He said I can be discharged...Just to be careful and come back later. Please Blake...”

Name: Narcissa "Cissa" Grace Codename: Solaris Team: Omega Location: Green House
Narcissa ignored the other energy signatures in the greenhouse while she waited for Daylia. She was perfectly capable of boring herself to death without listening to any menial problems or issues from the peanut gallery. The topics most of the students brought up entertained her just about as much as pond scum. Perhaps less. She idly flipped pages in her book, hoping for the sake of the twits in the back, that they didn’t turn on the sprinklers in the front.
There wouldn’t be anything left of them if they doused her outfit.
The Red Queen did her best not to groan at the sound of flip flops announcing Daylia’s arrival. There was one thing she hated on the planet more than cheap polyester. Flip flops. The constant slap against the wearer’s heel drove her up the nearest wall. Instead of insulting her possible mother-to-be she allowed her expression to relax into something thatr resembled bored disinterest. “Hello.”, she responded smoothly, a bit of her accent stealing part of the ‘H’ away.
Narcissa gave Daylia a few simple tasks and a brief smirk broke the porcelain of her face at the sight of her nails. She’d expected her to still have several week old polish on. As such, she’d come prepared, and slid on a latex glove before picking up the remover. She wouldn’t ruin her own nails willingly. Letting the silence potentially unsettle her guest she began to clear the Omega’s nails and prepped them for the color she’d chosen. She gave her nice rounded edges and compared one hand to the other to ensure all nails were the same length.
That was another peeve. Women who let ONE nail grow long enough to poke someone’s eye out from across the room when the rest were stubs… They should all be shot lest they pass on their bad choices to the next generation.
She would have been lying to say that it wasn’t at least a little bit fun to watch Daylia squirm when she began painting. Narcissa enjoyed and expected that kind of response to her presence. Especially when she’d been deliberately vague. Narcissa eyed the red haired girl when she phrased her response as a question. “You guess?”
It was very simple. She was either doing well, or she wasn’t. Not having much to recover from just meant that she hadn’t been injured. It didn’t mean, she wasn’t well on her way to starring on Teen Mom. Her reflexive inquiry to her own state of being caused the sun goddess to smirk yet again. Her Omega’s could be so amusing. “I’m perfect, darling.”
What a silly question. That should have been obvious.
Narcissa didn’t offer up much more than that and continued to carefully paint each nail. When she was done she looked them over and then capped the polish. It would need two coats before anything else. “Have some water, but be careful.”, she instructed after a moment, nodding to the still chilled water bottle on the table. It was normally too hot for most people to spend extended amounts of time in the greenhouse. Despite her mistreatment of her nails, Daylia had decent nail beds. Narcissa didn’t want the molecular manipulator to screw up all of her hard work.
Daylia surprised her a little bit when she suddenly started prattling on about taking a risk. Her face still remained passive while she sorted through the verbal diarrhea. Did Daylia think that she’d called her down here to chastise her for her mission performance? Soft and delicate laughter escaped her as it rarely did, the blonde woman truly finding it humorous. “Are you finished?”
“Either way... Give me your hand.”
Narcissa held out slender fingers to take Daylia’s hand and began to apply the next coat. She left another well of silence to allow her team member time to continue her little rant if she needed to. Perhaps she would call on her Omega’s more often to see what they freely admitted out of nervousness. “I do not recall telling you that you personally acted incorrectly.”
“You stayed with your partner. You took a risk and managed to keep yourself and Gracie away from the MRD when things fell apart. It left you weak. Gracie took care of you when you couldn’t take care of yourself. You worked together. Both of you handled yourselves in accordance with what I requested. I’m curious as to where you think that either of you failed exceedingly enough that you felt the need to go on the defensive...”, the small woman spoke lightly. Her tone was cold, though not unkind. Once the second coat was finished, she again released the girl to give the polish time to dry. From there she could add a few accents and a self-curing gel topcoat.
“If you were trying to guess at why I called for you… Wouldn't it have been easier to ask? You are my Omega, not an Alpha. You should have more confidence in yourself. If I am upset with something you’ve done…”, Narcissa’s blue eyes flickered to Daylia’s face, an unfeeling smile tilting the kiss of her lips upward. “You’ll know.”
Picking up a couple complimentary colors she began to add little details to Daylia’s nails. It would take her a moment for her to realize what she was doing with a tiny brush—but eventually crisp little flowers and elegant dotted decorations appeared. When that dried, she ran the top coat over it. It left her feeling a little nostalgic. When the Omega's were still the Hellions she'd spent quite a few evenings painting nails with the teams second in command. Ana. It had been a long time since she'd thought of her.
“I asked you here alone to find out how you were. It might have been an awkward team conversation. When I came across you… You were more than a little green and out of it. I just need to be sure that the only reason for it is because you strained your ability. Dizziness, throwing up, and weakness are all common symptoms of pregnancy. If you are carrying… I can’t have you doing field work.”
"Awesome" he replied back with a bit of confidence. It was all in fun and plus she likely had her muscular system analyze and saved the motions of a person whose gymnast or fighting skills surpassed Dimitri's. For the time being anyway.
After giving his brief physical and mental state, it was nice for the second in command of the omegas to show some sympathy. He was however curious about one of her statements. "You'd suspect I'd have some screws loose if I did?" Then again he had showed little fear when he was asked to put his life much, much closer to the line than his previous missions. And before hand, the amount of fear he had was still low. And he always enjoyed a good fight it seemed... Maybe he was just confident. "But thanks I appreciate it. Id be careful though, you wouldn't want your leader hearing you showing feelings for a dirty alpha." he warned.
He called his tiny break quits and initiated a simultaneous flow of stationary punches shortly after Kerrigan engaged in her own session of calisthenics. "Everything went well on you guy's part I assume?"Unlike Dimitri she was doing better than he was feeling mentally. He kept a smooth flow of inhales and exhales with each strike, beads of sweat dropping from his wet face and hair intermittenly. However he slipped and a laugh came on his next exhale from her cinnabon answer. As if she was one away from having a Kardashian figure. Not that, there would be anything wrong with that. "I wouldn't worry much one bun, you already look good" Wait, what? "Like physique wise...."he explained between punches "You have a good one."
Soon the two of them began to have more company. The first of them being a new alpha that went by Darien, who had seemed rather excited to spar against Otengam. "Dimitri, nice to meet you bro." The second person was a newcomer as well. Cute,Slim build, average height rocking the half shaved haircut style too? Not bad. Dimitri would give her a friendly "hey" with a quick raise of his brows before focusing attention back to Darien should she look in his direction while making her way to the bench.
Dimitri let Kerrigan to her workout and continued his convo with the new guy. He would have to gear up a bit before sparring with the new cat but he planted the seed for an interesting twist if the "powerhouse" was down for it. "Eh, I do alright." he said. Well, his definition of alright anyway. "And it's up to her." Darien seemed to be the powerhouse though, giving them a heads up about him not worried about taking a hit."You got super strength?"D guessed.
The alpha would let K have the floor when it came to describing her power. As for Otengam, he gave his little secret without the proof. "I can generate and manipulate lava."

Lachlan Beckham
Holding Cell Hall - Sub Levels
Lachlan was well aware that Katerina placed herself well above him in her mind, she made it no mystery she revered him as nothing more than a pesky nuisance much akin to a lion being tormented by a gnat. The condescending tones she used as if he were a little boy that knew next to nothing of the real world, the smug smiles she offered him, simply the way she conducted herself, it didn't take a genius to pick up on those non-discreet facts. Perhaps she was being as blatant as she was because she thought him too daft to figure it out on his own. He felt it was more along the lines, however, of her simply not caring for his presence as previously determined.
Lucky for him, he hadn't come here to impress her or to make friends. He simply wanted the facts straight from the horse's mouth. Not to say she looked like a horse, even if her personality was rather off-putting, he'd be a liar if he were to deny the fact she was comfortably above average in the looks department. He simply wanted to know her side of things, regardless of whether he felt she was in the right or wrong for doing so. There were multiple sides to every story and Katerina's was no less relevant than Bella's, even if it pained him to admit it.
Upon Katerina revealing her reasoning behind what she believe merited such a vicious attack on Bella, Lachlan was forced to bite back a frown at the monotonous one liner response. He remained silent for a short moment, pondering how to further clarify when Katerina took it upon herself to follow her point up with some actual information. Even if the information was something he was likely to fundamentally disagree with, at the very least he'd gotten her perspective on things.
"And obviously," Lachlan stated in a matter-of-fact manner, "you don't. Your pessimistic view and attitude certainly would guarantee there would be no peace if it were up to you to negotiate on our behalf so I suppose from your standpoint you wouldn't be wrong. Peace might not be achievable with everyone, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't be achieved with some. Better something than nothing, wouldn't you think?"
The super strong mutant fell silent as he observed the woman experimenting with the force field that contained her. Had he not already taken the precaution to not stand within arms reach of her, he almost certainly would have taken a step back despite the force field being there. He knew better than to underestimate someone with the level of conviction Katerina clearly possessed. It was unfortunate she refused to channel it in a less chaotic manner.
"I can't argue that point," he admitted in regards to the battlefield not being an appropriate place to allow personal sentiment to cloud one's judgment. "There is a time and place for everything and if faced with an enemy hell bent on nothing short of our demise, there is no room to negotiate or be moral." It pained him to admit he held Katerina's standpoint where the battlefield was concerned for more than one reason. First off, giving Katerina any sense that she was justified in what she had done made Lachlan feel he was failing to defend Bella. Second, he knew Bella would be disappointed with him had she heard him admit to more permanent methods when dealing with foes.
Managing to strike one of Katerina's nerves had definitely been an unexpected outcome on Lachlan's part. He hadn't even been intending to offend the shape shifter but her opinion of him, of essentially everyone but a select few, finally manifested verbally instead of mere implicated gestures. "She is a person, just like you are, just as Bella is. It's our job to work as a team, as a unit, to keep one another safe. I don't know the details behind what happened on that mission or what made Bella decide to utilize Aurelie's ability the way she did, but you and I both know she would never do so with the intent of her being harmed. And again, I apologize for my absence and the potential impact it had as far as people's well-being went."
"Obviously there are kinks that need to be worked out in the field. Sometimes things don't go according to plan and you are right, that no single person should be a scapegoat on behalf of everyone else, it is simply too big of a burden to expect anyone to bear. That means we need to come up with a solution to avoid this in the future, and no, the solution is not killing Isabella. This shouldn't be about getting even, it should be about reviewing our mistakes and making a conscious effort to learn and grow from them."
Katerina's decision to ignore his question about what had happened hadn't gone unnoticed, however, the farm boy was not willing to press the matter especially when the woman was already agitated. He doubted he would achieve the result he would be hoping for and as such, he decided to let it be for the time being. It was very certain he would be seeing Katerina again in the near future, though whether it was as a teammate or as an attempted murderer seemed to be completely up in the air at this point.
It was Lachlan's turn to ignore Katerina. He chose not to remark on her condescending comparison of him to Charlies Xavier. Had the comment come from anyone else, it more than likely would have been meant as a compliment. However, Lachlan knew perfectly well what it meant coming from Katerina based on how she practically spat Bella's name for believing in the same ideals that Xavier did.
"I fully intend," Lachlan combated Katerina's obvious threats with equal determination and a calmness he was certain Xavier would be proud of him for, "to stick by what I said. I have no plans to regret saving you and I have no qualms with getting in your way. I intend to keep everyone safe: Aurelie, Bella and even you, from yourself. So I guess we're on even ground then, you've received your warning as well." His gaze met hers with equal intensity and a fire that clearly indicated he was not going to back down on this matter or allow her to go about doing whatever she pleased.
