He was still looking Fini's way when she glanced towards him, and he moved as though to lift his hand and acknowledge her, when instead Stormy cut the other woman off from sight, reminding him what he was here for as she then swam into the thick of things to distract the mermaids enough for him to attack. Right. Clenching his teeth and trying not to think about how Fini might be fairing, or whether Jack was even all that well suited to be defending her, he swam towards one mermaid in particular that was looking away from him, before spearing her in the back. Hey now, he was doing a good job. Moons weren't the only defense team at Deus, you two. Gosh.
But he was good at beating on things smaller than him, as he proved when he barreled into another group forming, scattering them with watery screeches.

Well, maybe the competition might fuel Finn into action. Pointedly ignoring the Lifer among them still, Stormy went after a few that Jack had directed in their direction, though her sword was too slow to impede their movement.

Ow ow ow, Stormy really how was this helpful at all? At least she was still mostly blocking Fini and Jack from view, and what she wasn't blocking, the mermaids were certainly obscuring. He could still catch glimpses though. And hey, he didn't really like having his view obscured, especially when he was trying to watch Fini's a** (not literally, though he could if he wanted to. Anytime.) to make sure she wasn't getting it handed to her out there. With a frown, he slashed his lance through the water a couple more times, taking out another mermaid while hitting another in the arm, giving out more then the fish bitches were dealing back to him at least. Okay, better. Stormy had managed to run (swim?) the mermaids off so that he didn't have any of them trying to tear him into pieces anymore. Going after one that was retreating, he gave her a sharp stab in the back, taking her out of the picture completely.

Except she cringed a little when it looked like Finn (and Stormy) missed a few mermaids.

Likewise, Milo didn't mind when mermaids managed to sneak their way through Cass' already impeccable defenses - really, he would have been dead by now if she wasn't there. It made for good counter attacks, the mermaids would pull and claw and he would in turn punch and stab. It was starting to hurt a little but they seemed to be making awesome progress. Sure he'd pretend that Fini wasn't perfect; that wasn't very hard to do.

And then Finn decided he was done with this offense bullshit. He wasn't made for slashing and hacking his way through the enemy, but for trying to make sure others could do so without getting slashed and hacked at in return. ...Except that he'd never really practiced this defensive stuff all that much. The thing about working with training dummies is it was hard to learn how to keep them safe from harm, and defending himself was a far cry from defending others.
