Moonlight dappled the harsh NightClan terrain, spilling through the darkness like a river. Small particles drifted above the ground as small insects lazily buzzed through the beams of light. Puresun's visage shimmered in the moonlight, seemingly as fragile as a pale reflection rippling on the surface of a stream. Her gaze did not waver. She stared at Ghostwhisper intently, her eyes shining like stars. Instead of answering his question, she murmured, "Do I look like a StarClan cat to you, Ghostwhisper?" There were no stars in her paws. Although she was glowing softly in the moonlight, she had no trace of StarClan in her fur.
"Fear is a powerful emotion," she sighed. "Those who are afraid are dangerous to themselves and to others."
"Are you afraid, Ghostwhisper?" she whispered. No room for fear. Doubts claw at the heart, pull it in, make it destroy itself.

The lack of faith Ghostwhisper has in Starclan did not help Puresun’s attempt to confront him. He has been convinced for some time that he was sent to Nightclan as a curse to Nightclan for all the wrongdoings that have happened in the past: Hauntedheart’s relationship with Foxclaw, then with Cinderwing, Lavenderstar’s secret rearing of a son outside Nightclan, and finally Puresun’s birth of six kittens to a rogue. No wonder Nightclan was the laughing stock to other clans. Of course, Ghostwhisper has never spoken to anyone about this, because he is convinced that the rest of Nightclan thinks in the same way. ”How would I know what a Starclan cat looked like?” He replied a little snappishly, as he thought that it would have been obvious. Why would Starclan appear to him, of all cats? He was tempted to turn tail and walk away from Puresun’s spirit, when she lightly commented that fear was a powerful emotion.
Fear could darken someone’s heart and twist their way of thinking, and Ghostwhisper has experienced this first pawed. From the moment he was born, all the queens and kits in the nursery had gazed upon him with fear. He had experienced fear when his mentor was torn apart by dogs, right in front of his eyes. He didn’t need Puresun to explain to him what fear was.
Was he afraid? Perhaps of himself, but he wasn’t going to admit it. There was no room in his life for fear, as he had to try his best to stay away from the rest of the clan so he would not bring misfortune upon them. ”Of what?” he returned the question to the ghost of Puresun, ”Shouldn’t you be afraid of me? Like everyone else?”

Puresun narrowed her eyes and countered, "Shouldn't you be afraid of me? StarClan cats have stars in their fur, do they not? If I am not in StarClan, what do you think that implies?" She flicked her tail apathetically. He adamantly continued to believe in his own misfortune, and that was what must change if he was ever to be happy. "Has it ever occurred to you that those who fear you might be wrong?" she asked. "Do you really think the world revolves around you, Ghostwhisper? Or are you willing to believe something far more sinister is responsible for this?"
She stood and turned around partially, pausing to mumble something to herself. "What we do doesn't even matter," she muttered, almost inaudibly. "This fate was inevitable. This misfortune was always destined to reach the Clans." StarClan knew something dark was coming long ago, and they thought the Slayers were the Great Omen, but StarClan was wrong. Now, it was more than certain...

Ghostwhisper’s tail flicked at Puresun’s retaliation but did not say anything, unable to find anything to counter that argument. If Puresun’s spirit was not in Starclan...does that mean she is trapped in the living world forever? Sounds like an even worse “curse” than his. ”So why do you still remain in the world of the living? Your place isn’t here, but you don’t need me to tell you that.” He rasped hoarsely, flicking his tail around his ankles.
He blinked when Puresun asked him if he has ever considered those who feared him to be wrong. ”Perhaps, or perhaps not. Either way, it’s the same.” His whiskers twitched, but other than that he made no other expression, and his face remained impassive. When Puresun suddenly mentioned that something more sinister could have been the cause of everything, his ears instantly pricked and his cyan eyes widened. The Star Slayers had already been enough of a shock to him, but he has never considered that there could have been something worse than the Star Slayers. ”Something far more sinister? Surely nothing can be worse than the Star Slayers’ massacre?” He stepped forwards as he asked, almost coming nose to nose with Puresun despite her being an intangible spirit.
”You sound as if you know more than you speak of, Puresun.” His voice cracked a little at the end and he uttered a harsh cough, not used to having to speak this much with his broken voice.
"Memory is the treasury and guardian of all things." _______________________________________________
Guardianvow stared into the inky night. He wanted to sleep, but he couldn't. Thoughts of fatherhood pressed down on him. Fathom, his own father, had killed his mother and abandoned the Clan. There were rumors that he was possessed by an evil spirit, and truthfully, Guardianvow believed them. He wasn't sure why, but he felt like his father was a good cat, at heart. Still, other cats sometimes looked at him and his siblings and saw evil. They were the descendants of a wildcat family, after all, one that came from outside the Clan. Would he be able to protect his kits? What if he died fighting whatever new horror the Clans were facing? His worries kept him awake. He sighed exhaustedly, and stared into the stars.
Suddenly, Richmoon darted out of the darkness, his eyes wild. "Guardianvow, you have to help me! Roseleaf's giving birth! Rabbitfoot's gone and I don't know what to do! Guardianvow leapt up, his fur standing on end. Roseleaf (NPC)?! he thought. Since when did she have another mate? He hesitated, panic rising in his throat, and asked, "How is she pregnant? The Clan would've let her rest before giving birth-!" Richmoon shook his head and stuttered, "I...we didn't know she was pregnant! She never showed real signs of it. I-I mean I guess she started having weird eating habits, and she slept more often, but her stomach didn't grow and she didn't start producing milk..." Guardianvow stared at him in shock and confusion. "Wh-Richmoon, are you and Roseleaf mates?" he hissed. "Why didn't anyone know?" The short tomcat stiffened, his tail shooting straight up as his fur stood on end. "W-we didn't want to announce it!" he responded with embarrassment. "We figured it would come out eventually, a-and besides, the Clan had a lot to focus on, a-and..." Guardianvow snorted and snapped, "Alright whatever, that's your business, nevermind. We need to help Roseleaf. Go alert Foxstar, I'll do what I can." Richmoon nodded, his eyes wide, and said, "She's near the entrance to the Clan, you'll be able to smell her," and darted off towards the Leader's den. Guardianvow turned on his heels and sped towards the entrance to NightClan. Roseleaf was close to the entrance, collapsed on the ground as her sides heaved. Guardianvow ran up to her and stated, "We have to move you inside camp, Roseleaf," before gently dragging her into the protected camp. Cats began to stop and stare as he began grooming her, trying to calm her down, and gently massaged her belly. He remembered what Rabbitfoot had done during Sungaze's birthing. However, his paws were clumsy and untrained, and Roseleaf cried out in pain. Primpetal (NPC) pushed him aside, growling, "You're doing it wrong, idiot! I've had my fair share of kittens, let me help." She showed him how to massage correctly, and they worked side by side.
Richmoon burst into the leader's den, his eyes wide, and he panted, "F-foxstar! And, uh, Falconwind! R-roseleaf's giving birth!"

✗` ↷ϴUT❥ϴF❥ȻLANS ≫Sorry for the wait! I've been busy with non-stop concerts the past few days! Also, lol, sorry if the NPC cat crowd seems a bit OOC to anyone. I think I added Crowcry to the NPC queen batch and imagined her personality to be rather cruel and grumpy. I just imagine Envyfeather to not be all that liked since she really does just mope around all day and barely helps anyone...acting more like a useless mouth to feed then anything xD Foxstar pities her and knows she's trying her best even though he doesn't really know why she seems to still be grieving. ((course he doesn't know she's grieving over her soul mate huehuehue)) Anyways, enjoy lol!

Thedarkgingerleaderponderedhisdeputy'swise-spoken words analytically, his amber eyes glinting with unreadable emotions within the darkness of the legendary hollow’s midst. Foxstar narrowed his gaze, his tail flicking as if he urged the dark pelted warrior to challenge his insecurities before the crow furred tom before him broke the apprehensive stillness humbly.
”I’m glad you told me, thankyou.”
And just like that, in the twitch of a whisker, Foxstar’s steely grimace was set into a thoughtful smirk; brilliant amber orbs alit in a vivacity of inspiration and gratitude. In return of the NightClan deputy’s graceful bow and unspoken respect, Foxstar copied him briefly before raising his head and meeting the other tom’s amber gaze with his own, burning with newfound determination.
”Thank you, Falconwind, for your words of wisdom. I knew I made the right decision in choosing you as NightClan’s deputy. I feel that––”
Puresun’s only littermate and brother, (NPC) Richmoon, a faithful NightClan warrior, exploded into the conversation, wheezing greatly as his brilliant pumpkin orange eyes flashed with anxiety and fear. Normally, Foxstar would’ve scolded the warrior for interrupting his discussion and failing to gain authorization to enter…of course…the news that one of his clanmates, one of whom he hadn’t even known was expecting, let alone had a mate, was currently giving birth in the middle of camp sort of left the young leader with the heart to forgive and forget…for now.
Foxstar abruptly hopped to his paws, muttering silent curses as his gaze, ablaze with concern and irritation, bore into (NPC) Richmoon’s fearful one. Well, what are you waiting for? For StarClan’s sake, lead the way! Falconwind, we'll continue our conversation later...” The brawny tom hissed impatiently as he leapt after a scrambling (NPC) Richmoon, out of the den and towards the camp clearing where a large crowd of whispering cats had gathered, a pitiful she-cat’s painful screeches rising above the uproar. Without another word, Foxstar flicked his tail towards his deputy and their clanmates, signaling Falconwind to calm the swarming cats as he bound towards the victim with great haste, his powerful head swinging from side to side in evident disbelief.
Oh great StarClan…why must you choose now of all times to send new kits to the clan? Not to mention trouble… My clan is, no doubt, in danger and we gain innocent defenseless members now? Our medicine cat isn’t even present! StarClan help us…
…
(NPC) Roseleaf gritted her teeth agonizingly as she held back an aching wail, her matted tabby flank rippling as another convulsion of pain seized her lithe form. While Guardianvow and (NPC) Primpetal soothed and kneaded the birthing queen and her rippling stomach, a certain tabby she-cat sat alone, at the rear of the crowd, her paws kneading the ground anxiously.
W-w-what should I d-do? I…I want to help everyone…I d-don’t want to…to be a burden…what should I…
Envyfeather’s thoughts faded as an idea lit her slightly glazed purple-blue eyes. Making haste, the tiny warrior pelted towards the edge of camp and picked out a broad yet sturdy stick amongst the cleared debris pile made by hard working warriors who were repairing the camp and began carrying it towards the queen in labor.
Cats began to turn their heads skeptically as little Envyfeather struggled to get through, their voices whispering scorn and crude questions.
”What is she doing?” “Who does she think she is?” “What does that depressing she-cat expect to do with that stick?” “How is she going to help?” “All she does is mope around all day with her tail in the mud!” “Yeah, she does a mouse-brained job at her duties and she thinks she could do something now?” “What a poor excuse for a warrior!” “I feel bad for her apprentice!”
The unpopular tabby tried her best to block the insults from her train of thought as she tried to make her way into the mass of clanmates, although she was on the verge of tears. She felt her body tremble achingly as she was harshly shoved away by the cats she was supposed to be comrades away, her clumsy paws being of no help as she constantly tripped and made a fool of herself.
In the commotion, Envyfeather roughly collided into a slender black queen by the name of (NPC) Crowcry, who eyed her suspiciously, yellow gaze glowing with derision and distaste. ”What do you think you’re doing?” The she-cat spat scornfully, narrowing her eyes as the younger warrior shrunk back fearfully, her doleful violet blue eyes blinking desperately for the queen to let her through. Snorting disdainfully, (NPC) Crowcry glared down at the trembling chocolate tabby who had fallen on her back, to the amusement of a few of her clanmates. Envyfeather could barely meet the queen’s smoldering depths and only whimpered pitifully in response. ”If you think you can go even a mouse-length nea—Let her through. Now.” A demanding meow that held nothing but disgust and frustration commanded clearly, cutting off the bewildered queen as a new voice joined the verbal fray. The grumpy raven pelted queen snorted softly before slinking away into another branch of the crowd. Envyfeather arched her head to meet the hard amber pools of her leader, Foxstar; catching her eye with a twinkle of sympathy and encouragement as the large tom nudged the she-cat to her paws and down the gracious path made by her clanmates at the stern stare of the NightClan leader. Shakily, Envyfeather clenched the stick a tad tighter, in the fears of dropping it, as she padded towards a familiar tabby queen. (NPC) Roseleaf’s beautiful teal-green glimmered with tacit appreciation as she instinctively gripped the stick within her jaws firmly as a spasm struck. Envyfeather meekly took a seat at Guardianvow’s side while Foxstar stopped just behind her, (NPC) Richmoon at his heels.
”I-I…I remember my b-b-brother…Rainblast…g-giving his mate a stick to bite o-on when she h-h-had her k-kits…f-for the pain…”
The pretty little she-cat mumbled more to herself then anyone else as Guardianvow and (NPC) Primpetal continued their work. Envyfeather’s gaze remained glued to her small white paws as cats once again swarmed around (NPC) Roseleaf’s writhing shape. Foxstar moved a bit towards Envyfeather’s vacant side with a stern expression across his face as he regarded Guardianvow almost cynically, no doubt surprised by the tom’s kindness and, at the same time, making sure the suffering queen had her space in the process. (NPC) Richmoon frantically covered his mate’s head with licks while she progressed in kitting, having snuck around the few cats in the center of a decently spaced gathering to comfort his beloved.
”How is (NPC) Roseleaf’s condition, Guardianvow? (NPC) Primpetal, what would you like me to do?”

╔════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ((Kitty's Meow: So... I haven't posted as this fluffy kitty in a while...))
Sounds reached my tired ears, pulling me out of my sleep. Rising to my paws with a sigh, I padded out of the warriors den and slowly moved to where there was a rather large crowd gathering. Hovering at the outskirts of the crowd, I tried desperately to peer around the cats. Then I heard it; the unmistakable cry of a she-cat in labor. I remembered when Sungaze and Rainblast had their litter. But that had been at a much happier time. The events that were happening all around us were not good circumstances under which to bring kits into the world.
Out of the corner of my eyes I saw a tabby cat streak away from the crowd. Turning my head curiously, I watched as Envyfeather returned with... A stick? What was a stick going to help? But I didn't join in the comments. Oh no, that was Rainblast's sister. I wouldn't. She hadn't done anything to deserve the snide comments and questions. She was grieving for something I had no clue what it was. Either way, once you got past the initial quietness of her demeanor; she was a nice cat to hang around. When Envyfeather's meow explained the purpose of the stick, I nodded. That would make sense.
While everyone else was focused on Roseleaf (not that I wasn't. I was and I hoped it was going well.) I squeezed in as well and plopped down behind Envyfeather."Nice job with the stick Envyfeather."I meowed softly, hoping I didn't startle her.
I glanced around and sighed, this was already a really big group. So, giving Envyfeather a light nose to the shoulder; I stood and padded a little ways away from the group. I didn't want to be in the way. ╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ Nobodycangobackandstartanewbeginning, butanyonecanstarttodayandmakeanewending

EMBER SAYS:
Falconwind rose quickly to his paws and followed Foxstar and Richmoon (NPC) out of the leader's den. He'd had no idea that Roseleaf (NPC) was pregnant, or that she even had a mate for that matter! He nodded in response to his leader's command. He had to calm the cats and get them to give the working cats space.
"Everyone!" Falconwind siad, pushing his way through the throng of cats and to the front. "Stand back and give Roseleaf room." His voice was strong and commanding, his amber gaze unwavering as he spoke. "Everyone, I need you to back to your dens except for Guardianvow, Primpetal, and Richmoon." He made no mention of his leader, for he was not one to give his leader orders.
Dropping his voice and maintaining his calm composure, he turned to Envyfeather. "Thank you, for your help," he said, "There's one more thing I need you to do, go get mos and dip it in water. Roseleaf will need something to drink and we'll need the water for the kitting."
Falconwind had no idea of what to do during a kitting and would be of little use, but as long as he could keep his clanmates calm, everything would be alright. When the cats began heeding their deputy's words and retreating to the dens, he turned back to face Roseleaf. She didn't look at all well to him. Judging from how she showed almost no signs of pregnancy he guessed that she wasn't very far along. He had a sickening feeling that the kits, the queen, or both weren't going to make it.
"Envyfeather, hurry,"he ordered. The desperately needed the water. StarClan protect Roseleaf, he prayed.
Falconwind could hear the gasps of pain from the she-cat and screwed up his eyes trying to remember if there was anything that could be done for her. His eyes snapped open. Poppy seeds could be used for pain, he remembered that from the great battle against the giant cats when he was an apprentice. And... and... What else could be used? He thought hard. Borage for milk!
He turned to Guardianvow and ordered, "Come with me. We're going to the medicine cat's den. We need poppy seeds and borage. Hurry. I need you to find borage. With Shimmerstep expecting kits I trust that you'll have an idea." He kept his voice calm, but the urgency showed in his amber eyes. He spun around and charged for the medicine cat's den without waiting to see if Guardianvow had followed.
He slithered into the den, barely stopping for a heartbeat. He found the poppy seeds easily enough, but he didn't remember what borage looked like. He picked up three poppy seeds, hopping they'd be enough and ran directly back to Foxstar, Rickmoon (NPC), Primpetal (NPC), and Roseleaf (NPC). Setting them down he said, "For the pain."
Tearing at the ground impatiently with his claws, Falconwind prayed once more to StarClan for guidance. The only thing he remembered about borage was the scent, but even that he wasn't sure was accurate, he just had to hope that Guardianvow found it.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ SO MUCH PRESSURE WEIGHS UPON OUR SHOULDERS THAT WE CAN'T BE SOFT-TOUCHERS OR WHISPERERS ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
It was a nice night out. Well, a nice night in terms of mild chaos and disarray. The Clan was shaken to the roots about previous events. And they had every right. The only thing Marblewing would be selfishly glad about was that it took eyes off of her for a while. She was still trying to impress everyone -- she wasn't some kittypet anymore. That was moons ago! She was a warrior now. Lavenderstar had seen it and that's why she was still here -- it was just that not every cat had agreed with the now-deceased leader.
Marblewing sighed, the frog in her jaws nearly launching right out of her mouth at the sudden action. She clamped it a little tighter to make sure she didn't drop it and proceeded, feeling tired. It had taken forever to find this stupid thing. There wasn't much else to find at night time. But the clan needed it, and every little bit counted.
She wasn't that far from camp when Marblewing heard terrible yowls. They made her fur stand on end and she jumped. Were they under attack? Was someone hurt? Dear StarClan that scared her. It only took her a moment to recover before she hurried her pace and returned in time to see Guardianvow dragging Roseleaf (NPC) into camp. Her ears flattened against her head. What was wrong? What happened?
The grey she-cat quickly slipped into camp and skirted around the crowd of cats, dropping her frog with the fresh-kill pile and staying near the edge of the fray. Her fur was fluffed up in horror when she found Starkcloud away from the commotion. "Starkcloud, what's happening? What's wrong?" she asked, voice a little higher than usual. She clawed the ground, worried. It sounded like somecat was dying.

Pine-eyes Nightclan Warrior - Tom - Fluffy _________
The ground was warm and almost unlawfully soft where Pine-eyes had burrowed himself, his eyes shut tight against the filtered light of the moon and his body cocooned with his burr-ridden pelt. Since the day of the earthquake and the unfortunate incident involving an over consumption of poppy seeds, his body had been distressingly sluggish. The few, fitful moments of wakefulness he experienced were almost immediately proceeded by stiff muscles and the insatiable desire to flomp back over again as the stimulants worked their way out his system. The spot where he usually flomped had become a depression in the ground, which was not flattering in regard to his body weight, but very much appreciated for the comfort it provided. Now, though, the clamouring of voices and the metallic scent of distress pierced Pine-eye's veil of slumber, his entire body wincing in protest as stood up and blinked dazedly. The scar that ran down a small length of his side twinged in sync with his drawn out stretches and his mood took a small turn down the path to The Place of No Stars seeing that there seemed to be no life threatening things to run from and it was only badgering awful Nightclan gossip chain who had woken him in the first place. Honestly, he thought, listening in to see what was up, was anything sacred? Pine-eyes eyes widened slightly as he picked apart the facts from the voices around him, and he pushed forward a nudge more and craned his head in time to see Envyfeather pad through with a stick. Pine-eyes gaze softened on his sister for half a millisecond before the comments caught up with his brain and his eyes swung over to stare at the few voices he recognized, burning fiery with unrestrained anger. Pine-eyes mood shriveled like a berry left out in the sun and he curled his lip as a low growl rumbled in his chest. The few who felt it necessary to continue their observations were caught and silenced by a well aimed glower from a tall, disheveled and very moody looking Pine-eyes. Heavily distracted, he didn't notice when Envyfeather fell and gave a indignant but pleased huff as Foxstar cut the incessant voices off with a click of his tongue. When Starkcloud moved forward to murmur her encouragement and moved back, he caught her gaze and gave a slight incline of his head in thanks, his eyes narrowing slightly in distaste as they skirted over Marblewing. Hearing Envyfeather's name being called to action once again, Pine-eyes readied himself to shadow her and n** at any spiteful cat who ventured to disparage her. _________

❁"Nice job with the stick Envyfeather."
The pretty little tabby squeaked from the sudden praise from behind her, the new voice having effectively startled her; the soft chocolate striped fur along her spine rose in reflex to Envyfeather’s unmeant scare. She wasn’t used to kind words and had long since abandoned the hope of ever hearing them. Though, she felt her flank begin to lay flat as a familiar scent entered her nostrils; one that she had come to relax around…if only by a little bit. So, with her nerves calming, the young she-cat turned to the owner of the kind mew.
”T-th-thankyou…m-miss…S-Starkcloud…”
Envyfeather’s barely audible yet sweet sounding mew responded chokingly, unused to having to say more then one word when conversing with another cat when she forced herself to be polite and reply. But Starkcloud was different. She did nothing but show kindness to the unwilling envier whenever they happened to run into one another. For that, Envyfeather convinced herself that the fluffy warrior was of no threat and…possibly…only meant well. Besides…the older warrior was her precious brother, Rainblast’s, mentor when her siblings were apprentices. Surely the she-cat was as kind and gracious as her protective brother claimed.
It seemed that as soon as the beautiful white and gray cat had come, she had departed with a gift that Envyfeather herself flinched in surprise from. A simple light nuzzle to the shoulder. But, to the severely reserved she-cat, it meant so much more. More than a thousand words. Envyfeather felt foreign warmth within her chest begin to, ever so slowly, bloom like a morning flower’s curling petals wheedled open from the sun’s welcoming rays as it rose for the horizon…
Blinking, the petite tabby turned to find an empty seat where a kindhearted warrior sat merely a heartbeat ago, leaving her to, perhaps, speak to Marblewing…instead of her…. Ignoring the pang of loneliness that crept into the gloomy tabby’s heart, Envyfeather turned her attention to her paws, as if they were the most important piece of prey she had ever caught… She knew somewhere that the kind cat that taught her brother probably didn’t really like her like she had so foolishly believed… No…no…no…only three…only three would she ever hold dearly…for if she threatened that number, she knew her heart would shatter indeed.
❁ ⊰ ◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣ ⊱ ❁
She could here cats sifting beside her by some…familiar…cat’s doing, so, like any curious cat would, she turned to see who was causing the commotion. Violet blue depths widened considerably, her heart soaring by who she found. It was her other sibling. Pine-eyes. An aloof and harsh warrior who was well known through out the clans for his unwavering seriousness and strength…especially in this clan. He protectively fended off her “enemies” with a glowering look that had never failed in the art of terrorization. Wanting to repay his kindness, and, clearly moved by his simple action, she half-trotted to his side and gingerly, as if she was about to touch a raging badger, rubbed her cheek against her brother’s shoulder affectionately, voicing her appreciation for him in that simple action. Envyfeather was obviously lucky to have such loving brothers, even if they didn’t show it all the time. It seemed like they were the only living cats that really loved her…but…did they really? Did they only put up with her because she was kin? Envyfeather’s mind clouded with uncertainty at the thought she had no doubt encountered before. Well… No matter the answer…she knew one cat truly cherished her…and that was all she needed to continue her pitiful existence…

With white ear tips twitching, Envyfeather eyed her deputy with an empty violet sapphire gaze as he rolled orders from his tongue. Her luminous orbs travelled across the disbanding crowd of NightClan cats as they reluctantly returned to their respected dens, though some, the more eager of the bunch, made an effort to watch the current interest of the clan from their nests. Envyfeather found herself catching Foxstar’s eye. He hadn’t looked all too focused on the birth progressing before him, but, noticing Envyfeather, the ambitious leader blinked sympathetically before turning away to speak to (NPC) Primpetal of (NPC) Roseleaf’s present condition, hearing the words ‘stable’ but ‘worrisome’ from the soft conversation. Beside him, Falconwind, NightClan’s trusty deputy, found Envyfeather’s eyes with a look of gratitude and concern as he meowed to her, obtaining her full attention.
"Thank you, for your help,"He paused for a heartbeat as a serious expression flitted through his golden ambers."There's one more thing I need you to do, go get moss and dip it in water.(NPC) Roseleaf willneed somethingto drinkandwe'llneedthe waterfor thekitting."Envyfeather blinked naively, inexplicably still as her deputy’s orders began to die away from the she-cat’s ears. Like usual, the adolescent she-cat started to lose herself to the battlefield of her thoughts…a nightmare within reality…
Falconwind wants me to…to…go into the territory…alone…for water? I’ll have to go down to the lake if all the water in the area hasn’t…drained… Oh no… What if I get hurt? Or lost…? No cat will help me…not that they’d want to…because I’m Envyfeather…the she-cat with the ugly jaw…the mangled face…the one who doesn’t do anything…the useless one…the depressing one who mopes around all day with her head in another world…the weird one…the shy one…the cat who’s always quiet…off…dreaming…and…alone… I’m…all alone…all alone…all alone…all alone…all alone…all alone…all alone…all alone…all alone…Envyfeather…Envyfeather…Envyfeather…Envyfeather…Envyfeather…Envyfeather…Envyfeather!Envyfeather!!Envyfeather!!!
”Envyfeather.”
”…H-Huh…y-yes?”
Fortunately, Falconwind’s urgent call brought the she-cat, who had begun trembling as malicious words echoed throughout her mind, back to the cruel veracity of the real world. She shook her head fiercely, possibly in the hopes of mustering some sort of composure and to purge the insults from her spinning head.Oh…oh StarClan…I…I…She exhaled softly as she blinked into her deputy’s eyes, just now realizing that she has spaced out while staring at her superior… Feeling heat flash beneath her earthy brown coat, Envyfeather ducked her head self-consciously as Falconwind asked once more.
”Envyfeather, hurry.”
…y-y-yes!
The young warrior had also come to comprehend that her deputy had given her orders…that she should be following! Hastily, Envyfeather hopped to her paws in a bashful manner as she bolted out of camp at an astoundingly lissome speed. She shot her brother a somewhat sheepish look before disappearing with a rustle through the camp entrance, her black and white ringed tail streaming behind her…

With the company of a radiant half moon coating everything from the endless night sky in a coat of silvery moonlight, little Envyfeather treaded through the eerie swamps that covered her gloomy abode in complete silence, save for the creaking of the dark, dead, spindly, and dismal woodland as a bone-chilling current danced about the murky forest of unpleasantness. Though, if you offered enough ear to it, one could identify the faint chirruping and clicking of vivacious insects.
Nothing was beautiful out here in the lonesome of the swamps…unless you found a flurry of dull grays and browns appealing. Envyfeather certainly wasn’t enjoying it as she strived to keep her paws carefully balanced upon beams of fallen trees and rare dry grass patches to avoid the muck and ruptures that littered the grounds.
…
She sniffed pitifully as an icy wind ruffled her fur, sending shiver-inducing sensations down her unprepared spine. In a fraught defense to calm her hummingbird-beating heart of the expanding darkness, she fluffed her silky fur against the wind and persisted fearfully.
…
It appeared that StarClan hadn’t given up on the anxious she-cat as her glowing violet blue gaze pinpointed a large clump of soft but plentiful moss flourishing alongside an ancient pine, just beside a running stream of water. Wanting to complete her assigned task with the upmost swiftness, Envyfeather feverishly but delicately tore out and cleaned a thick piece before pelting towards; thank StarClan, the surviving stream that hadn’t perished to the earthquake. She gently soaked the foliage in her paws and retrieved it once more, shuddering as cool wetness drenched her snowy chest and maw. It didn’t matter as much then it would have if it meant the she-cat had done what she was ordered to do and was done with it all. She had a promise to keep…to be good…anyways… Carefully now, she picked her way from whence she came, her shoulders quaking every time her slender legs lodged paw first into the slimy goo of the swamp floor.
…
It was an oddity…honestly, now that Envyfeather thought about it; on her way back to camp. The she-cat usually refrained from showing or having any interest in…well…doing anything. But…something about (NPC) Roseleaf’s kitting caused her fortitude to ascend…strangely. It was as if she had to be at the kitting and help in anyway possible. As if…she had some sort of obligation to witness the miracle of birth and…meet…a certain kit… It was a feeling…a strong feeling that Envyfeather couldn’t question nor interpret… Whether is was because of her own desires or simply because the kitting attracted her…she just new one thing and one thing alone… She had to be there.
Now…back to camp…

”…”
Envyfeather gently laid the soaked moss at (NPC) Roseleaf’s paws, watching in wonder as the pretty tabby abandoned the stick momentarily in order to lap a good amount of precious drops before gripping the stick once more as a contraction rolled pass. The young warrior blinked humbly as the pregnant queen gave her a gracious gaze before facing her mate with a loving look…the two sharing a lovey-dovey moment that cause a sharp claw of envy to pierce her heart…an ironic feeling hence her namesake that was supposed to mean “others would envy her beauty”…it was quite the opposite in all actuality… Tearing her gaze away from the couple that caused her heart to hurt, she meekly scurried to Foxstar’s side as a new thought cleared her head, but visibly avoiding making eye contact with anyone, especially Guardianvow, as she watched the “miracle of birth” from the leader’s side. She gave her leader a pleading look that showed more spirit then what she normally put out in moons, making no mistake in influencing the NightClan leader that she needed to be here. Foxstar hid his astonishment of the morbid she-cat’s passion with a firm nod that she could stay, turning to his deputy and whispering to the tom, who had returned with herbs, that Envyfeather was allowed to witness the kitting.
Finding a lovely feeling of pleasure in her soul, the she-cat, who was glad she groomed herself before entering camp as she now sat beside the leader and couldn’t possibly look like a mangy piece of prey with, curled her tail around her paws and settled herself into a comfortable position. Her eyes began to glaze though, watching unseeingly as the queen struggled before her. Envyfeather’s mind already drifting to the land of memories…wandering to a dream that had happened only last night…to be exact…

”N-nobleheart? Nobleheart?! W-where are you!?” A beautiful russet tabby cried frantically, her voice pitched at a close-wail that was sure to make anyone listening soften, their heart wrenching in pity as they felt the impulse to aid the worried she-cat. The tabby plunged down a brilliant green meadow of whispering grass, vivid and multicolored wildflower petals twirled on a sweet-scented breeze; venturing for the everlasting blue heavens which were dappled with sheep-like bunches of clouds. Everywhere she turned, she’d find beautiful rolling hills and valleys, alive with the melody of various birds and brilliant meadow scenery, and magnificent purple mountains enclosing the background as a crystalline waterfall fed into a large mirror-like spring just bellow; fish hurling their selves, with a spray of droplets, out of the water and back in every once in a while. Though…the pretty she-cat paid no heed to the colorful fluttering butterflies, the buzzing of bumble bees, the flourishing forests of viridian glory, or the fresh and enticing scents of prey which scurried from underneath and alongside her paws. No. She was focused on one thing and one thing alone. The only one that made this seemingly wondrous sanctuary a real paradise.
Nobleheart…you’re late…why…where…where are you…?
”E-envyfeather! I-I’m h-here! D-don’t fret, my lo—oof!!!”
Said she-cat gasped with delight, completely forgetting her panic and teary state as she rounded on the cat who called out to her with shining violet blue eyes. She pounced lovingly onto a handsome silvery gray tabby tom who returned her gaze with beautiful silver pools of fond adoration. ”Envyfeather! T-That’s not the p-proper way one should welcome their mate! Yo-your going to kill me at this rate!” Nobleheart panted out good-naturedly as his beloved covered his face with affectionate licks, her body practically rumblings with a purr of pure ecstasy. Envyfeather giggled warmly as she carefully climbed off of the lean tom-cat so he could climb to his paws again while shaking dust from his star-filled pelt. He leaned in and nuzzled the tiny she-cat’s cheek lovingly as she looked up with pure concern, causing a twinge of remorse and…something more…within his heart. He hid this skillfully by baring his apologetic gaze into hers. ”I’m so sorry…”
Envyfeather opened her mouth to chastise her mate, although…her cheery demeanor seemed to fade as the conversation continued…until it was completely…desolate…of bliss. ”Nobleheeeart!~ You’re tardier then last time! While I’m always happy to see you…you’ve been getting later and later! You know I’m always eager to see you every night…but…but…you’re delays are…they’re getting…worse! Are you…are you…lea—N-no no no! I apologize greatly for the delay, I really do! It’s just…just…I’ve been held up in S-StarClan much longer than usual ever since the Star Slayers! I will never leave you, you understand that…don’t you?” Nobleheart interrupted as he placed his silvery tail upon his loved one’s lips, forcing her into silence as he then used his tail to wipe her nearly fallen tears from those stunning purple lapis-lazuli irises he’d come to love so much. He licked her forehead to prove a point as he stepped back to meet her gaze once more…though…a darkness that swept through his glowing moon-like eyes went unnoticed... ”I-I trust you…you know I do…but…still…I don’t understand…why...well…aren’t I more important?…no offense to StarClan…but… You’ve grown alongside me since kithood and stayed by my side because You’re your most important one…right? So why are your visits getting shorter?! Does it have to do with the disasters that have been happening or the Slayers?!!! What’s happening?” The she-cat exclaimed fearfully, her voice raising a few octaves higher out of frustration and extreme anxiety as she pressed her face into Nobleheart’s chest, burrowing her head as much as she could to hopefully soothe her mounting nerves with his wonderful scent, analogous to the euphoria of the seasons. The star-kissed tom sighed thoughtfully, an unseen mental battle raging within his mind that he chose to hide from his darling for her own sake and his as he pondered her words. He could reveal nothing. Or everything would turn to shambles. No matter how much he wanted to tell her everything. It was impossible. All he could do was slowly open and close his eyes, gazing down at his lovely she-cat’s mottled face of endearing faithfulness, love, concern, and tenderness that seemed to splinter his heart more than it did comfort. He loved this she-cat more then anything. Then anyone. He truly did. With all his heart. With all his soul. Even in death, as a kit, did his love for her flourish and grow…blossoming since he opened his eyes and laid eyes on her tiny energetic face, urging him to play with her…much to the chagrin of his mother. He didn’t think he could love anyone more…so…that’s why he knew he’d completely break her heart with what he was going to do in the future…alas…he would live in the moment for now…for her sake…and…his own… ”Envyfeather, please know this…that I will always love you and will never cease to protect you. I’m your hero, am I not?” His beloved murmured a muffled yes in reply. He smiled sorrowfully, glad the she-cat he cared for couldn’t see such a depressing expression as he rested his head onto her’s before continuing, a hint of regret and pain in his voice…that…again…went unnoticed. ”I will always be by your side. I will never leave you. I will never betray you. I am yours and you are mine. Forever and always. Promise me you’ll understand that and have faith in me… Alright?” He removed his head to touch noses with a teary-eyed Envyfeather, giving him a hopeful expression that glimmered with unexplainable emotions. He chuckled softly as he offered her his tail, the tip curling slightly as he held it in the air; something he’d do when he was still amongst the world of the living, as a kit, whenever he promised Envyfeather or his loved ones something. She smiled, closing her eyes with renewed joy and faith as she curled her tail around his tightly, like two-legs would a pinkie promise. She had complete faith, stronger like no other, in him. She knew she could trust him…because…well… He never broke a promise.
…
After a time of simply enjoying one another’s company within the dream world’s paradise, custom made for the NightClan lovers of life and death, the moments of complete harmony perished as Envyfeather stopped suddenly, her form rippling slightly as she splashed through the waters of the sparkling spring after Nobleheart. ”Oh no…””You’re about to wake up…and I must leave as well…I’ve overstayed my welcome… I’m sorry that this visit is even shorter then the last one, my love…” Nobleheart whispered tenderly into Envyfeather’s ear as she pouted childishly, her tail curling with distraught. Envyfeather’s pretty face, scrunched into an unpleasant frown as she glowered at the crystal water below her, watching as tiny fish flicked in and out of her view, as carelessly as ever. ”It’s probably Rainblast getting me for dawn patrol…not that it matters…I won’t be of any help anyways…not that anyone wants it...augh…why is StarClan so cruel to me…to us?” The brown and white tabby mumbled bitterly, to the surprise of the silver tom before her. ”Now now…let’s have none of that sourpuss attitude my ‘little dove’. StarClan does nothing but guide and protect you and the clans, including me. Plus, your clan only does the same… Don’t group them all together as cats who dislike you. Be positive! I know you can do it little dove~ Promise me you’ll stay faithful to StarClan and treat your clanmates nicely and do all your tasks…for me?” Nobleheart teased her affectionately as he maneuvered his tail under her chin, lifting her gaze to his lucratively. Envyfeather felt her cheeks heat at the nickname and knew that if a smile hadn’t already spread across her muzzle, then it sure did now. Nobleheart always knew how to cheer her up. He was the only one who could see and bring the real Envyfeather out from her depressing and shy shell of a character. Envyfeather sighed halfheartedly but reached up to connect her velvet pink nose to his anyways. ”Alright, my ‘noble hero’, quit with the sappy stuff, I get it. Promise me you’ll meet me tomorrow night then, and longer too! You’re late and expect to leave so early? That doesn’t work here, my love~” The she-cat proclaimed haughtily, eyes twinkling an immature but meaningful radiance of cheerfulness as Nobleheart, despite a moment of…hesitance and sorrow…which disappeared as soon as it came…and…thankfully…wasn’t spotted, offered his tail to hers.
The scenery began to flicker, illuminating a growing whiteness that began devouring the dream itself.
”You promise to be good?”You promise to come back?“
Everything seemed to glow brighter as he nuzzled her nose with his, Envyfeather bashfully snaking her tail around his before the dream faded away completely, noses touching as a shared laughter filled the air.
”It’s a promise!””It’s a promise!”

"You're welcome..."I felt a bit weird, saying "you're welcome" for a compliment I had given, but I wanted her to know that I had heard her. I caught the gaze of Pine-eyes after I had spoken to Envyfeather. At first I was worried he was going to glare at me or something; but he nodded instead. Which made sense, seeing as Envyfeather was his sister and all. Returning the nod, I padded over to a spot a little ways away from the large group just before Falconwind ordered everyone to move back.Nice timing.I thought as I settled down. I let my thoughts wander to Envyfeather. It was saddening; that the words of encouragement I had uttered seemed like such a surprise to her.
My eyes didn't leave the group. I wanted to watch so that in case they needed an extra paw; I could jump to help. So one could say that, that was all I was focused on. Which would make sense as to why I jumped when I heard a voice from beside me. Turning my head, I gave a nod of greeting to Marblewing before her question and tone of voice registered."Oh nothing to terribly bad. It depends on how you look at it. Roseleaf is kitting."I stated simply. Which was true, kits weren't a bad thing. But it all depended on the perspective one had. ╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ Nobodycangobackandstartanewbeginning, butanyonecanstarttodayandmakeanewending

Guardianvow quickly rushed to the dwindling collection of herbs per Falconwind's orders. He paused for a moment, panicking as he tried to remember what borage leaves looked like. He remembered they had star-shaped flowers, but Rabbitfoot wouldn't have collected them because they were useless for healing. Hairy leaves... he thought frantically. He finally found some leaves that matched what he thought was borage, so he sent a quick prayer to StarClan hoping he'd found the correct leaves and darted off with a mouthful of them. He returned to find Envyfeather gazing off like the airhead she was. Pine-eyes and Starkcloud were close, too, but the NightClan cats had given Roseleaf plenty of room. He placed the leaves down and began chewing them for Roseleaf. He spat the paste out into his paw and pressed it gently next to her mouth, and she lapped it up half-heartedly. Her breathing was ragged, and Guardianvow's gut dropped. Please, please don't take her, he begged StarClan. We've already lost two cats today! Puresun's death hit him hard, and he found it difficult to stay positive in the face of so much grief. Watching a mother die giving birth to her unexpected kittens would be devastating.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ SO MUCH PRESSURE WEIGHS UPON OUR SHOULDERS THAT WE CAN'T BE SOFT-TOUCHERS OR WHISPERERS ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
( Something happened to Guardianvow's layout and then the page went wonky. owo Aaaaand cue Marblewing's fear of watching cats (possibly) die. |D )
Marblewing blinked in surprise. Roseleaf? "Whaaat? Really?" she asked, plopping on her rear in disbelief. Since when did she have a mate? Curious. The marble she-cat flicked her ears. Well, kitting sure didn't sound very appealing. As a matter of fact, something stirred in Marblewing's gut. A familiar feeling.
Dread seeped into her fur. Marblewing withheld a gasp and fidgeted. She really, really, really hoped that she was wrong. Sometimes it just couldn't be helped though. StarClan, please, she prayed silently. She fidgeted and busied herself with grooming her chest fur. It wasn't doing any good.
"I'm going to get out of the way. Talk to you later Starkcloud," she said quickly, getting to her paws and hurrying off. She stayed in camp, but wanted to get away from all the ruckus. Marblewing prayed she was just being paranoid, but the feeling of dread she got made her think that every bad situation would result in death.
It shook her to the bone and quite frankly terrified her.
