Leiko blinked and gave him an odd look. Why would he wish to dust so suddenly? Did something in his book tell him to? She wouldn't know, never having read before. Moving so she could stand on top of one of the cages he righted she watched him.
"Can I help? Matasoga's on the roof with a kitty girl, so I wanted to come see you!" She told him. Then remembering the gift twirled on the spot.
"Look what he gave me!"

He looked with a kind of passive curiosity at her. It already seemed so foreign to him that someone would cry for his pain. Already it seemed to him that the world should function in such a way so as to make her actions normal. When a thing stops being easy, you walk away without concern, with no concern for who gets hurt.
He turned his head back to the stars as well, which shown a bit more brightly as the sky slowly turned to pitch. It was almost alarming how quickly he had forgotten that there was another way to live.
Some would be insulted that they were not a friends first choice for company, but Kromli would be most confused were this not the case. In fact he'd be downright bewildered if Matasoga were passed by for him. He paid this detail no mind, at all.
"Oh, I can dust later. I was just looking for something to do," he said.
To her outfit he said, "It looks really nice."
He drew closer so that he could see it more easily on her tiny frame.

Telulu wiped her face with her tail, giggling a bit as it tickled her nose. Then looked to her Master," Master, I-is there anything you wish me to do?" She was trying helplessly to bend his thoughts from that which haunted them most.

"Ohhhh, are you that bored here?" She asked curiously.
She spread arms and wings to twirl for him again. it was nice and warm, so she really liked it.

"No..." Matasoga said, not turning from the stars. After all, what was there that she could do? What could anyone do?
"Just stay close," he added quietly.
There was a hideous feeling inside. Deeper than despair and blacker than anger. He cared little enough for anything now to be able to muster real fear or concern, but he instinctively didn't want to be left alone with it.
It was so often storied about students of the arcane giving way to complete madness. Was he too now on his way?
"It's not that I'm bored," Kromli said, watching her. "I just don't like having nothing to to. I just don't like being... Useless."

"As you wish, Master..."She brushed a lock of hair from her eyes, her tail rubbing his in a comforting manner. I wish I knew how to make things better..I guess this is all I can do for now.

"Ohh, I dont think your useless! Matasoga likes people who are...useful doesn't he? Thats why he likes you me and the kitty cat girl!" She flew over to sit on his shoulder, legs kicking so he felt the lightest tapping on his collarbone.
"did you see my cherry tree? It's big now!"

Matasoga decided to close his eyes and for once stop weighing each act, to stop considering the pros against the cons and just act. He gave himself over to the soft stroking of her silky fur against the scales of his tail and without contemplating it further, put an arm around her.
"Oh," Kromli said "Matasoga never said that I was useless. Often he tells me that I should do less, and relax more."
"I haven't seen it since last time. Has it gotten even bigger?" he asked.

Lulu's eyes widened and her face turned scarlet.W-what's he d-doing? Her puzzled look faded slightly and she leaned in to him subconsciously.

"Yep, it's alot taller than me, it I can sleep in it" She answered, looking up at him.
Leiko opened her wings out for a moment, enjoying the stretching of the muscles in her back. She opened the coat in the front, starting to feel the warmth from all her running around.
Things kept reminding her of the difference between home and here. This place was so big for an inside place, but it didn't have the same bigness as her home did. Of course there it was open and had no walls. That and all the people she knew were her family. Here though, she met someone everyday. Eyes on Kromli, she didnt think that was such a bad thing. Matasoga was nice and took care of her, and Kromli was a good friend to her.

Matasoga could hardly suppress his thoughts for long. This girl's body being close to his and her sympathetic touch and voice eased his pain, but it did not erase it. He supposed nothing could, now. Even if she were to return, in classic, dramatic movie fashion, dripping from the rain outside and telling him what a terrible mistake she'd made, begging him to take her back, it was out of the question. The moment she had done something like this, any chance of reconciliation was forever gone. He would allow her back into the guild house and, as was tradition, she would be allowed to have her room back, but there was no chance of her ever again being what she was to him... But she wasn't going to come back. He knew that.
He rested his lips at on the top of her head. So what would make him feel better. Certainly not another lover. But then that was the problem, wasn't it? Being in love wasn't something that he was prepared for... But what of being loved. That's just how it was in the old days. The guild was full of nothing but adoring women. Might a touch of that nostalgia be just what he needed?
It may, at that... Being loved and adored, being the most important thing to someone might just be the answer he was seeking. Maybe it would make him no longer feel quite so worthless... It was time to pick another slave.
He pat Haruka's shoulder with the hand that held her. Pushing off with his tail he slowly rose to his feet, and extended a hand to help her up as well.
"Is it still in your room?" Kromli asked. He wondered how much her abilities had allowed it to grow in recent days.

Lulu rose promptly, her face still painted with the rosy hue of shyness.Her tail was still softly embracing his,her ears were twitching madly, and her hand that was not preoccupied played with the hem of its sleeve.

'Yep! Its next to the bed. Now the room smells like the blossoms cause they are blooming!" She told him with a giant smile. She loved smelling that familiar smell.
"Its a really nice tree, it likes me helping it grow." She told him, as if it was perfectly normal to talk about a tree like it was a conscious creature.

"I'm going to go out for a bit," Matasoga said, adjusting his coattails. "Mind the house for me."
He walked through the door and into the house, expecting to be followed.
He met Kromli who was walking with Leiko, just outside of her room. He could smell the blossoms from where he was and watched as he opened the door.
The tree was indeed very large. At this rate it wouldn't fit through the door, tomorrow. Matasoga drew out some facepaint and applied it instantly with a casting of prestidigitation, black rune and all. When he was finished he closed the container and said, "Leiko; it seems that that tree has gotten just about as large as it can grow in here, but I was thinking... Would you prefer to live outside, instead? I was thinking about letting you start a garden, grove, or orchard, instead of keeping you here. Would you prefer to live outside among the trees?"

Leiko blinked and looked up at Matasoga as he spoke to Kromli and her. She didnt move from Kromli's shoulder , her wings stilling as he spoke. She gave him a look of confusion as he asked her about living outside in her own grove. Leiko didnt seem to need to think for much time before she frowned and answered.
"I don't want to leave here. Kromli's my friend and I dont want to leave him. And I cant leave my tree. You don't want me around anymore?" She asked him, slightly confused remembering their earlier conversation.
