Ares stiffened. No. Nonono, s**t no. Ophiuchus was doing this, and all his actions would be twisted and replayed and everything would go downhill. Murder was in his eyes. "Ophiuchus," he ground out. He didn't want to lose whatever tentative connection he may have built up with Evermore. It was a much better connection than before, and he liked it.
It affected him in ways that he would not say out loud, for there were things he had not felt in a very, very long time. He had not thought he would ever feel them again.

Akira looked over to the stranger and nodded, but kept quiet, just waiting for everything to play out.
She wanted to hug Evermore; her best friend was in tears after all! But...Her own emotions were just so screwed up right now. She felt hurt and had an odd feeling that if she'd stayed in her room and all of this would of happened, Evermore wouldn't of uttered a word to her...
So she simply crossed her arms and avoided eye contact with Evermore for now.

"Yes~?" Ophiuchus answered in a rather inappropriate singsong voice. "Ares, I've sat next to women and girls in the midwife's room, and I babysat their children. Your children, actually...." he trailed off, raising an eyebrow as he raised his staff.
"We know I could never go toe-to-toe with you, but I am the one that everyone talks to sooner or later."

Ares growled at him. "I know, dammit!" He moved to stand in front of Evermore. He wanted to say that she was different, but he couldn't get the words out. He didn't want to sound too silly, too cheesy. It was not his way.

Ever haven't even thought of Ares having children, which was stupid. Nearly all Gods and Goddesses had children spread out all over the planet. And she knew Ares wasn't exactly a stand up guy, and what they had been doing in no way reflected any type of commitment.
But still, she had trusted him. However stupid it was of her, she had trusted him. And it wasn't that she still didn't trust his motives. She just wasn't completely sure anymore, like she had been moments ago.
And she hated being unsure. Her head was hurting and the tears were starting to sting her eyes. She rubbed her forehead with her hand and sighed.

Arielle was torn between running over to comfort Evermore and just standing and watching. She didn't know which she was supposed to do. She was the Headmistress, so she should have little sympathy for a girl's mistakes or wrongdoings, but... her students were her children, her daughters. She wanted to hug Evermore, to tell her it would all be all right, that it was all okay.
She stood there, doing nothing, saying nothing.

Ares wanted to tear his hair out. Evermore probably thought of him as no better than the common whore now, but she didn't know that he had not had children for a long time. He had had sex, yes, but no children. All one-night stands, as he had been restless, incapable of figuring out what he wanted. So he had just not bothered.
But now he had an inkling, and he knew it involved Evermore, and it was all being shattered before he could even see the big picture.
'Don't listen to him,' he wanted to say. 'I'm not going to just run away.'
But he couldn't.

There was too much going on right now, and honestly, Ever didn't have enough information to make a judgment call one way or the other. Surprisingly, she was okay with that right now. She just needed some space... and to eat. Man she was hungry, and it was supper time now.
Ever started to head for the door, a tired slump in her shoulders. "Headmistress, please punish me however you see fit. I am going to the cafeteria now to eat and then up to my room to study. Again, I am truly, very sorry for this, Headmistress."
Then, without a backwards glance at anyone, Ever exited the office, pulled the door shut behind her, and began the long walk to the cafeteria on the first floor.

Ares watched her leave, feeling dejected, before rounding on Ophiuchus. "You! You and your damn mouth!" It's not that he was keeping secrets from Evermore--he just didn't want his past to be twisted and to affect how she would see him now.
For some reason, he couldn't stand the thought of her hating him.

Arielle simply nodded in resignation at Evermore. "Return here at seven-thirty." It was a simple command. She intended to discuss Evermore's future punishment for this offense while having Evermore and Akira take their punishment for having listened in that morning.

"Yes, me and my damn mouth," Ophiuchus snapped back calmly. "Twisting everything you worked so hard for to get her to believe in, right? So not only do you want something from the school, you want another Fury to boot! I was rather hoping the God of War had a shred of honor, but then again, soldiers don't take oaths like doctors do. So when were you going to tell her?"

Ever had heard what her headmistress had said and nodded before she left the office. 7:30 was not that far away. She had just enough time to each, which was what she was doing right now in the cafeteria, and then head back up to her office. Hopefully, without an audience this time.
Ever looked down at her hamburger, shrugged, and continued to chow down on it. Dammit, she was hungry!

"That you were going to move on," Ophiuchus answered promptly. "Oh, and button your vest up already, will you? You're not helping your case any."
He held up his staff again. "Now go, and take you, and your wars, and your misery and death and disease and the other two horses, and don't come back because I will find out, and I know who to go to."

But that was exactly the problem. He didn't know if he was going to just move on, like he normally did. He recognized these weird feelings, but he didn't want to believe in them. He didn't want it to happen like last time. He couldn't stand the thought.
He didn't button his vest; if he was going to leave anyway, what would be the point?
