Nik pulled one of his hands away from her and wrapped an arm around her, holding her close as he rubbed her arm. "It's kind of a touchy subject that part. I'll tell you later but I just need her checked up on. We woke up this morning and she was throwing up pretty badly, she wasn't feverish but she was pale, a little shaky." Pulling away from Moya he went over to the doctor, whispering in her ear so Moya wouldn't hear him. "I need you to check if she's pregnant. And I need to be in the room, I'm the only one that she's comfortable with. She doesn't trust anyone else."

The doc nodded and stood up. "Alright, lets draw some blood and then get an ultra sound machine in to check if anything is wrong with her stomach. Could be nothing but we have to make sure there are no ulcers." She went out and came back with a small needle. She put on some rubber gloves and picked up the needle again. "Alright Moya, I'm not here to hurt you but I would like to put this in your arm and get some blood. I won't lie and say it won't hurt, but it will help us figure out what is going on."
Moya looked at Nik and grabbed his hand tightly before nodding and putting her arm out for the doctor. She winced and turned her head away when the doc started to draw the blood. When the doc left with it she hid her face in Nik's chest.

Nik squeezed her hand back as she got blood drawn, whispering comforts until the doctor left and taping a cotton ball to the spot. And when she hid her face against his chest he rubbed her back. "Easy Moya, easy. You're ok." Hopping up onto the exam bed he lifted her onto his lap, holding her close so she could still wrap around him as he rubbed her back. "That wasn't so bad. We're half done already. Just one more test and no more needles."

Moya nodded and looked at the door when it opened. her eyes went wide and she shrunk into Nik. "Nik, that thing looks like something they have used on me before. Nik that thing hurt and gave me most of my scars."
The doc saw how scared Moya was and set up the machine. "Its alright Moya. All this is going to do is take harmless pictures of the inside of your stomach. I promise this one won't hurt you." She looked up at Nik and smiled softly. "Can you get her ready for this? I'll come back in a few minutes." She left the room to get some more things, like information about Moya's family.

He squeezed her tighter when she shrank into him, nodding to the doctor and rubbing Moya's back. "It's ok. It's ok." Lifting her up he hopped down, setting her on the bed again. "Moya I'm going to be right here with you, ok? The machine's not going to hurt you, and I'm not going to leave. I promise." Laying her down on the bed he stroked her cheek gently, squeezing her hand lightly. "It'll be ok. You're going to have to trust the doctor so she can make sure you're not sick." He wasn't going to have gone through all that just to lose her.

Moya nodded and looked up at Nik. "I'm sorry that I'm scared Nik."
The doc came back in with a thick file and put it down by her computer. She made Moya's stomach bare and smiled at her. "Alright, I'm going to put this blue stuff on your stomach and then put this," She held up a little camera. "On your stomach. Then it will take pictures and help us find whats wrong if anything is wrong." She put the goop on her stomach and started up the camera. When she found something she froze it and looked at Nik. "You were right."

Nik looked up when she spoke, freezing as quickly as the doctor had. It was small, but it was definitely there. And he knew that because he was lugaru, this was going to go a lot faster. Swallowing hard he squeezed Moya's hand, getting a towel to wipe off her stomach. "Thanks, doc."

The doc nodded and walked to the door. "I expect a check up every few weeks to track it. And that file on my desk is for you Nik. I can't do anything about them but as long as you don't tell anyone I helped you, have at them." She left and closed the door behind her.
Moya looked at the picture that was on the tv thing and back up at Nik. "What is that? Am I sick? Will I be able to get rid of it?" She was worried, for the simple fact that she didn't understand. She sat up and crossed her arms over her stomach.

Nik nodded to the doctor and looked at the file, studying the folder for a minute before looking at Moya again. "You're having a baby, Moya. That spot on the picture, that's a baby developing inside of you. You were sick because you're pregnant, but that won't happen that often anymore." Grabbing the file he tucked it in his jacket, making sure it was secure in the pocket before handing Moya her coat. "Come on, let's get out of here."

Moya froze, she couldn't find a way to move. "A baby." She suddenly crumbled and curled up in a ball, starting to cry. "I'm not ready for a baby, I don't know how to take care of babies." She looked up at Nik and then away. "I'm sorry."

Shaking his head Nik pulled her jacket around her, tucking the file in hers instead then pulling her hood back up, lifting her into his arms and carrying her out. "I know you're not ready Moya, but I am. Granted, I didn't expect this, but I can take care of both of you. And I can teach you how to take care of a baby, just don't worry about it. Just trust me." No one looked at them as he carried her out, walking home with her in his arms. He had a feeling she wasn't quite ready to walk yet.

Moya clung onto Nik on their way home. When they made it home she looked up at Nik and loosened her grip on him. "I'm sorry Nik. If I knew things, this wouldn't have happened."

Nik shook his head and set her down, catching the file before unlocking the door and leading her in, locking it behind them. "It's not your fault Moya. If anything I should have thought about the possibility of a baby. But now I'm just hoping I make a good dad." Setting the file on the table he went to the kitchen, not thinking he could make dinner this time and instead pulling out the cereal and pouring two bowls, taking his to the couch and turning on the tv. What they needed at the moment was a small distraction.

Moya picked up her bowl and found the energy to make it to the couch. She sat down next to Nik and started to eat slowly, a lot running through her head that she never thought would. She finished her bowl surprisingly quickly and put it on the coffee table, watching tv to try to get her to stop thinking on what could go wrong. "I'm sorry I got scared at the doctors. She seemed like a nice lady though."

Without a word he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close and setting his empty bowl on the table and kissing her head. Even with the apology she seemed distracted. "What are you thinking about Moya?"
