Amaya was sat on the small concrete square just outside her door, legs propping her up somewhat because of her tail. She turned and watched as the punk got closer and closer, able to see the mass of grey under the towel. She stood slowly, frowning.

"Hey... go on inside, have a seat." She said sincerely, stepping aside and sliding her tail out of the way to let him in. "Need some water?" He was turning into a shark for sure... and that meant that he would get like Awen, always thirsty and skin brittle to the open air.

Alec inwardly heeved a sigh of relief as she offered for him to come inside, not realizing how irritated the sunlight and air was making his sensitive skin already. "Ekay." He gladly agreed and went ahead of her, though he ended up taking a seat on the floor near the door anyways. The towel on his head shifted a little and he fidgetted with it until it lay over half of his face again.

"Ye." He managed to snicker a bit, amazed at how good company brought up his spirits already. "A brough' a bottle o' wateh wi' me bu' a' drank i' alreadeh." Even though he tried to sound cheerful, a heavy heart made his voice sound less than lively. Before Amaya could fetch him some, he went and helped himself to a bottle of water from her minifridge before returning to his seat.

The green iguana walked in after him, closing the door behind her. "Try pouring some over your skin too. From what Awen's told me, it helps." She stood by the door, looking down at him with a cocked head. "Why the towel?" Was he that self-conscious?

Alec didn't move from his spot just yet, tilting his head up a tad though the towel on his head still covered most of his face. For the sake of not sounding like a whiney... girl complaining about his looks, he used the second excuse he had. "Th'sun 'urts me eyes." The sharkboy responded simply, aware that the towel down his back was probably doing a pretty shitty job at covering up the rather unmistakable shape of sharks fins underneath. Of course now he was inside, so the excuse he produced was suddenly looking pretty lame.

"'elps?" He repeated unsurely, looking down at the bottle in his hands as it sweat moisture onto his hand.

"Ah, I see. You want me to turn the light off?" Her eyes had been really sensitive too, though now she was used to the odd colours and strange movements everything had. She nodded to him, the concern still on her features and in her voice. "From what she told me. Her skin would get itchy whenever it got too dry, so she kept water with her and used it to rub into her skin."

"Oh." He blinked, never really considering the somewhat easy deducation of a portable water source. Nodding admittedly that it was a good idea, he pulled off the large beach towl that hung down his back, dabbed some water onto his hand and proceeded to pat at his tiger-striped hide. There was no use hiding now anyways, it's not like he wasn't sitting next to a giant iguana anyways. Even yet, he kept the towel on his head as he was apparently most sensitive about something there.

"A' neh is'ekay. A' joost won't stare a' th'lights o' anehthin like tha'."

Amaya frowned a little, but acknowledged his request and kept the lights on for now. She then walked over towards him, taking a crouching position in front of him on the floor. Her long, five foot tail followed and slid across the carpet before coming to a rest slightly curved behind her.

"Still sore?" She asked tentivly, her tongue flickering and her head cocking to the side as she involuntarily tried to find his eyes.

Alec nodded, keeping his mouth shut like a child answering to a teacher's interrogations at school. His legs were splayed out infont of him, making it rather easy to see the tiny foliage sprouting from his shins and knees. He looked at them with malice from under the hood of his towel.

Yellow gaze continued to look at him, her expression concerned and sympathetic despite how reptilian it was. The silence between them spanned, until she finally sighed. What was she supposed to say to comfort him?

"I'm sorry." Was the girl's automatic response. She closed her eyes for a moment, looking down. "I wish you didn't have to go through any of this. But if it's any consolation at all, I know how you feel." She was doing her best not to suddenly pour her heart to him... but she wouldn't. That would just be a big mistake.

Alec's lips twitched at her sad apology. What else did he want then, if pity or empathy wasn't enough to satisy? Maybe he should've thought about all this more by himself before coming and bothering Amaya. It was bad enough Nita had to come down and help him yesturday.

With a heavy sigh he frowned and tugged at a corner of the towel, allowing it to slip off his head and fall into a pile beside him. He stared at his bark-like knees, picking at the twisted, fibrous material with his fingernails.

At a loss for words, he only managed to say one thing. "I 'ope a' d'n 'afta eat fish now."

All at once Amaya's heart jumped into her throat and her stomach twisted. His face... His face! She couldn't hide the wide-eyed, shocked expression she now wore. Then it faded, becoming more and more sympathetic. He lost his face even sooner then she had.

But regardless of how changed he was, she could still honestly say that she was attracted to him. Even if he became a ball of slime or... a slug or something, she would have still loved him. And she didn't even know why. Hormones and such feelings were so confusing when one was just now begining to fully understand them.

Slowly, the lizard's frown turned into a sad smile. "Fish isn't that bad. Besides, I bet any meat will do for you. Or... anything, really. Don't they find things like styrofoam and soda cans inside shark stomachs sometimes?"

Alec's dark pupils glanced up in time to see her reaction, a tremor running through his chest like he'd just been shot with a pellet gun. How could he live like this? Getting these looks, these horrorfied looks? He wasn't a monster, dammit. He knew he wasn't. "Ye... like on Jaws." A movie reference was the only thing he could think of right now to hopefully cheer himself up.

Trying not to look too upset, he amused himself by picking at the leaves sprouting from his legs, flicking the leaves and poking at the stems that were surprisingly tough for such an... odd thing to see sticking out of one's limb. "A' wondeh if evrehwoon will be sceh'd o' me now." He thought outloud more than anything, suddenly feeling as if he was just thrown into the same boat as the lizardy Amaya.

The sad smile died off quickly back to a frown as she looked at him. "I honestly don't know... I've noticed some people stare at me in passing. But I never looked long enough to tell if they were scared of me or just shocked. Or both. But you're not quiet as far along. Hopefully you'll only receieve a couple of shocked looks." She paused a moment, looking down then back up at him. "I'm not scared of you, Alec. I'm just surprised. I've seen a similar image in the mirror too much to be scared of you." The same sad smile returned again.

Alec's expression quickly changed and soon he looked more franctic than depressed any longer. "Neh neh, a' know tha'. Ye know, 'am sorreh. S'like a'm bein' a' fookin' wankeh." He quickly stuttered the words out, waving a hand along with his apology. What was he saying, what the hell was wrong with him?

"A' shoul' go." He stood up suddenly, even for him and appeared as if the decision had been made right there and then. This was getting to be too much. He wanted to talk but everytime he opened his mouth he was saying all the wrong things to all the wrong people.

The teen blinked, surprised and confused by his actions. "What?" She stood up suddenly as well, her tail dragging behind her to keep her balance. "Alec!" Without realizing it she was already taking a step foreward to stop him, a large hand curling around his arm as he went to leave.

"You're not bein' a wanker. What's wrong?" Well, aside from the obvious. Her expression stayed the same; shocked, scared and concerned. She wondered if she had said something wrong. She always messed everything up.

But more then anything Amaya was scared of loosing him. If she couldn't at least keep him as a friend, she didn't know what she'd do.
