There was also one time where a drummer friend of mine came to school one day after I had a really weird dream where he was annoying the s**t out of me so I killed him with my bass guitar, and he's like, "Claire, I dreamt you killed me last night!" So now whenever he's being an a** I threaten to go get my bass! 3nodding

Yeah, orchestra(at my school), IMEA, Solo and Ensamble, NCJC, lessons, church band(don't ask), and random get together with friends and other groups.

There's a bow on my cello, and I've tied ribbons and strings and beads to my clarinet, but they keep falling off.

None. But one day, I was playing that little riff that's supposed to sound like a light sabre, and this flautist comes up and knocks his instrument against mine.... and dents his. I was laughing so hard...

o.o I dunno. I guess I look a little more geeky then I normally do.
17. Best compliment for your playing?
I picked up the clarinet a year after everyone else did(I was just in Orchestra in the sixth grade), so the summer after sixth grade, when I finally got permission to join band, I took lessons from one of the schools old band directors. He'd found a job off in another state far away, so I was going to be the last person he taught here. The first day, he handed me my clarinet and told me how to put it together, laughed at my face when I tasted my first reed, then we tried to play. I learned five notes in that half an hour, then I went home and learned three more. I covered the first fifteen pages of the book by next weeks' lesson, and my teacher said I was "the fastest person to learn to play the clarinet" that he's ever met. That's when I knew I was going to stick around in band for a while.
18. Weirdest instrument you've ever seen?
Bagpipes...my step grand-dad plays 'em.

No. I should, and I try, but I don't.
20.Least liked section?
Trumpets. All the trupmets at my school except for my older brother and one guy are complete asses.... NO ONE ELSE in the band acts like that. They're also really loud instruments when played by stupid teenaged boys.

Eh, we're not the best, but some of us have talent...

I'm just a band geek. I get good grades and don't hang out with preppy people, but I'm not a social outcast.

Usually about thirty seconds, but my shortest time was ten.

Of course I practice. And I'm first chair. I don't practice all the time, but I do practice.

Many of my friends are in Band or Orchestra. I think maybe one of my close friends is not in either.

Sort of. See, I left my cell phone and some sheet music after Jazz Band because something big came up, and the next day I was running around in the morning and before and after band looking for them. My BD knew I was looking for them, but he decided to wait until my sectional at the end of the day to give them back..... and i had to sing 'I'm a Little Tea Pot' in front of the whole band......(and everyone thought I was really good. They were disapointed that they couldn't tease me.)
29. Concert/Marching Band attire?
Concert is black pants of skirt and a white blouse, normal concert dress.
Marching band is black suspenders with an orange stripe up the side seams, black shoes and socks, and a black jacket with orange school insignia and buttons. I HATE the color orange.

Many trips onstange in concerts, a few in marching band, and on time in a concert, there was this guest conductor who got so into what he was doing that when he pointed his baton to cue a section in it accidentally flew out of his hand and beaned one kid in the head.

No. Claribelle is my baby. I have only dropped her once. Didn't hurt her, just broke the reed.

Not very long. And out of habit, just a few seconds to put it away. My Middle School BD would let us out about a second before the bell. Had to hurry because my next class/bus was across the school every year.

I have a bit of talent, I would say. If I try, I do. I do practice though.

Once during marching. The flute section leader started marching on my foot and pushed me into the bari sax behind me, causing me to stumble out of line. Luckily, the BD was watching and stopped before any of us got seriously injured.

1.I Play the-Flute 2.It's name is/is going to be-My flute doesn't have a name. Though I'd probably call it Serenity if I had to. 3.What chair?Was 1st through junior high, fluctuated between 1st through 12th in high school, and was close to the end during my first year of college. 4. What classification does your BD rank under?All of the directors I've played under have been a little strict, trying to act cool and be on the students' side with a number of issues, but still very biased. 5.How many in your section?Er... Have no idea. I can't remember. I've been through 8 years of being in band. 6. What brand Instrument?Olds. 7. Hardest song ever played?Honestly, I can't remember. 8.Middle or high school?College. (Not this year though. Hope to return next year - spring or fall '09.) 9. Band geek family?Not really. I have two aunts that played flute in high school. Brother played clarinet and bass clarinet in high school. And have a cousin that played trumpet (in high school). 10.Band love?No. My love and I still share a common interest though. On the head joint (minus the emb. plate) are 2 or 3 miniscule scratches. There's a chip on the tuning nut. 3 small dents on the body join and a bit of tarnishing. And 1 more small dent on the foot joint with a few scratches at the very end of it. (My flute is also 9-years-old and has been through 5 years of marching.) 16.Do you look good while you play your instrument?Haven't noticed lately, but I had to work on posture a little bit last fall while at SHSU. 17. no. when i play the french horn, i'm half slouching... when i play y flute i slouch to right... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to the right. trumpet i'm slouching majorly, andwhen i play the mello the bell is usually resting on my kness(when i'm sitting)

At my fastest, I can probably put together my flute in under a minute. Piccolo takes even less time. Normally it takes about a minute when I'm not timing myself.

Our BD fell off his chair once. My chair actually fell off one of the top most risers in the band room with me on it. I fell backwards and the BD's wife (who was there listening to the pep band) was like "OMG!" I was setting up the yard markers on our practice field one time and smacked my head on a bass drum above my head when I tried to get up (the bass drummer was milling around behind me and was conveniently right next to me when I was crouched down setting up the markers). Then I tried to get up again and the bass drum was still there and I got smacked again. xd

3.What chair? 1st chair, baby! >D
4. What classification does your BD rank under? The kind that can't get a girlfriend. XD
5.How many in your section? Mmm...probably around 20. We got a ton of clarinets with the new batch of 7th graders this year.
6. What brand Instrument? Olds
7. Hardest song ever played? Sonata by Poulenc. It's my solo for Region Band auditions next week. D:
8.Middle or high school? Technically high school, but freshmans are kept in the junior high building.
9. Band geek family? Musical, yes. My padre's a piano technician, and my mother was a music therapist.
10.Band love? D: Yeah. But he's over at the high school this year.
11. Inside jokes of band? Our BD's phone always rings during band and he won't tell us who it is, so we've concluded that he has a pretty blonde girlfriend named Michelle. >D It's so much fun to torture him.

15. (that reminds me) How many dents are in your instrument? As far as I know, Oswald is dent-free except for a little notch that was made when it hit the corner of the music stand. There are some scratches on it that were made by the music stand, too.
16.Do you look good while you play your instrument? Is that even possible?
17. Best compliment for your playing? In 6th grade I walked in on my evil music teacher giving some 4th graders a clarinet lesson and he introduced me as the best musician in the band. Also my current BD told me I was the only one in the band that had a chance of making it into Region Band.
18. Weirdest instrument you've ever seen? A clarinet made out of a carrot. o_O
19.Tap your foot? I do sometimes. It depends on the speed of the song and the difficulty. If there are a lot of runs in it I stop without realizing it because I'm concentrating so hard.
20.Least liked section? First place goes to trumpets, cause in my band period there are only three. Two 9th graders who suck and have big egos, and a 7th grader that also sucks. Thank God we have good horns in the other period band class. Second place goes to drums, because, again, in my period there's a 9th grader and a 7th grader and neither of them can keep time or even hit the drums at the right time.
21. Lessons? I just started private lessons, every Tuesday. Also, my BD pulls people out of class once a week for in-school lessons.

23. How much do you hate your section. I like my section a lot better this year, because we have 7th grade clarinets that can actually PLAY. There are two individuals, however, that I'm not so fond of. Two freshmen that suck, and disgrace themselves by having senority and still being in the bottom two chairs.
24. Are you really a geek and in band, or do you just love band so much that your a band geek? Both. I'm in GATE, which is the "smart class", so I'm automatically labeled as geeky. Being in band only enhances that, but I'm okay with it. I love being a band geek. =D
25. How long does it take you to set up your instrument? I'm really careful about putting my instrument together, but it only takes about 45 seconds at the most. Taking it apart only takes about 20 seconds, especially when the bell has just rung and you're gonna be late for class.
26. Do you practice, or are you talented enough were you don't have to? or are you just lazy and have no talent so your like last chair? Unless it's particularly difficult, I don't practice the band music too much. I practice scales and my Region Band solo every night, though.

For Pep Band we wear these really ugly polo shirts with our school colors on it (green and gold), except the stripes go dark green, a really ugly shade of gold, and then navy blue. Blegh. We don't have a Marching Band (although my BD wants me and my friend to start one this year), but I've seen the outfits. My BD wore one for Halloween. XD It's a really ugly, frilly, marching band costume. If we do start one, I'll make sure we don't have to go near those things. XD For the winter concert this year our BD decided to go traditional, so we're wearing all black.

I use the generic cork grease that comes in the cleaning kits. As for reeds, I'm using Rico, which I hate. My BD said he'd order me some Vandorens in time for Region Band auditions.

I can't think of any instances in particular, but it happened at the last pep band game a few weeks ago. Eric (a tuba player) was walking up the bleachers during half time, and it was like 10 degrees so it was slippery, and he fell and hit his forehead on the corner of the seat. He had a big red mark in the middle of his forehead for a week . XD

Not that long.My clarinets so old I don't have to gresse it all the time, only about once a month

I don't really practice at my house. I get to school early so I can practice before school so I feel better bout my playing.

I met most of my friends though band.

I'm in the top band so we have a "uniform"
