Cursed Bill Weasley

PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 11:00 pm

Aww. <3

Well, the squish name is Date or Mute.

Considering their only interaction was in a thread on Gaia. XD

It was a good concept, but the foreground didn't stick out enough. ^^; I might play with it on the computer... <3

Date... Mute. Hm. Mute-- like no speaking-- and Date reminds me of Dante. xD

Psh, most characters don't even need to speak to each other to be paired up. Look at Ginny/Harry! *cough* Nevermind. <3

Teddy/William (Dumbledore, not Weasley)! They haven't actually said anything to each other in the RP yet, but they dated for a while. XD

Heh. Godfrey wins. xP

I mean, I know that I knew that Dameon was still at the castle... but earlier at the Burrow I was really trying to speak as Godfrey would, trying to rationalize it out. xP

Godfrey knows not everyone is infallible more than others might, and he's a smarter than average kid, and he reads a lot. To him it was obvious that Dameon was at the castle... he was looking for Teddy, and didn't come back with him, and didn't come back after the others brought him back, so logically he was still at the castle.

The underground stuff came because he reads a lot of history, and was remembering a book he'd read about a comparison between muggle and wizarding methods of torture, and had come upon the bit about people being put down in pits after where he'd read about how they'd electrocuted insane people to try and 'fix' them, and experimented on them and stuff.

I just felt like I needed to explain that, so when Godfrey goes 'nah nah I told you so he was still at the castle' later, .... well yeah. xD I won't actually make him say that. He'll refrain from saying it, but inside he'll be all triumphant and make a mental tally point in his favour.. which is the mental board that says 'Adults: (some number) Godfrey: (A larger number. xD)

But yeah. :3 Not bringing blaise back?

Dun dun dun dunnnnn..... Funeral march.

Funerals are yay! When there's pinecones.

Cassy.. you're not making any sense.

1. We didn't know Mulciber was captured. He just went missing while looking for Teddy. For all we knew, he was still looking. He cut off ties with the Order, so it'd make sense for him to have not heard about Teddy being back.

2. ..The coffin thing has nothing to do with 'wizarding methods of torture.' It's because he's claustrophobic, and being forced into a situation like that would eventually break his resolve.

I LOVED Godfrey back when we all played in the subforum.. but lately babe, he's become a really irritating Mary Sue, with all this.. staff-getting and succubus-ness, and being all-powerful, all-intelligent, etc. Why couldn't he have stayed the cute, oddly alluring Godfrey who was unique because he had a tail and fox ears, without all this weird new stuff?

And while I'm at it - I know you don't mean to be offensive with it, but having a staff is Moody's trademark, and Tom Riddle being a bunny was our idea. You've been really uncaring about Kitty's feelings lately (the bunny!Voldemort thing made her cry -- Tom JUST died a day before, yet you were yapping about it like it had been your idea all along) and I'm not going to tolerate it much longer. Consider this a 'warning' confused

Oh I know, I know, okay... alright to address those in order uh...

Well 1. Godfrey doesn't know he was captured for sure either, but that's what he thinks. He thinks Mulciber was captured... Regulus and the others didn't think he was... didn't think Dameon could be taken down, but Godfrey, while being optimistic, thought it was a good possibility he had been captured, and not still looking. And he knew it was a possibility he might just not have heard about Teddy being back.... but really thought that Dameon would have checked in... or at least sent a letter or a patronus.. and assumes something bad happened to him because he hadn't.

2. Godfrey could have no clue of course about Mulciber being buried in a coffin... he thought Mulciber was still at the castle, actually inside the castle... the fact that he'd be buried alive in a grave never even crossed his mind. He wasn't quite sure what sorts of things the castle would have, besides cells, and thought at first they might have hidden Mulciber with magic... and that started him thinking about where else they could have put him, which made him think about the pits with the metal doors on top.... just a normal boy thinking about stuff he'd read... putting it out there....

3. And I've been conciously trying to stop him from getting all Mary-sue... which is why I've put limits on him.

A lot of it was back story. Why did he look so different from other people? Why was his magic so strange? What would he have to do to control it?

And his part-incubusness doesn't really do much.... it helps explain why his magic is so weird.... it helps explain why he looks different... but otherwise doesn't do anything in his life (Besides that one time I had him get 'sick'... but that won't happen again now that he knows how to prevent it by just being near people)

Godfrey had control of fire and was unable to use regular magic from the beginning... and he's not super smart...... because he's unable to use regular magic practically... he has a lot of free time that would normally be filled at hogwarts by using his magic practically... he studies hard... I usually have that he wakes up at six in the morning... studies from about seven until two in the afternoon with just a short lunch break, and then spends about four hours practicing to control his magic.... mostly by doing seemingly silly things like making a set number of butterflies and trying to keep control of of all of them at once...

And he also does practice hard with that whip of his... and actually I haven't really brought it out for a while, prefering to have him focus more on his magic.

Also... he does get tired quickly when he uses it since it is a wandless sort of thing...

Ultimately really... he just wants to be as normal as he can... it really hurts him that he can't use regular magic at times... he hates the way it makes him feel weak.

And I didn't steal the staff thing from Moody, really. I wasn't even thinking of him when it came up... and I didn't really think of it in the first place, the guy who plays Rookwood suggested it.

And I have put a good amount of time in looking stuff up... what materials I would need to use mostly. He still wouldn't be able to use a lot fo spells... mostly any spells associated with water.... he'll be rubbish at real transfiguration... it will let him use charms, and some defensive and offensive spells... but it will be hard going.. I plan to have him have to practise for years before he can really have good control over the spells.

Godfrey is by far all-powerful, really. And he has changed a lot from the weird little 12 year old that jumped out of Dark corners at his dad with knives.... but he was a bit strange in the first place, having been born like 3 days after his conception, and then having grown up to the age of twelve within a few hours.

I also have been changing Godfrey conciously... making him a bit different because though he likes Spica and James... he doesn't desire to be left behind by the adults... he doesn't want to be seen a a little kid, someone incapable of protecting himself and others.

I mean, every character needs development don't they? The major developments I've seen are that 1. He's working hard to gain better control over his magic... that time he hurt Teddy with his whip and the times when he couldn't do anything to save others really changed him... he doesn't want to feel that useless and weak again.

2. He's developed to care for a wide range of people in different ways... before it was just Regulus and a few others... then the Dark Lord... and then Spica and some people who might not have even liked him at first..

3. The staff... he's really excited about this... no matter what they say, everyone wants to be normal. Geeze... he'd be happy just to be able to do a wingardium leviosa with it..... without making the feather/book/object burn up.

And I don't remember if your bunny had died the day before... the fourteenth, was it? I am sorry that I upset Kitty, I didn't mean to.

I only mentioned it because the grunnies had come out that day, and Mike had shown up having turned Voldemort into a grunny. I did not mean to steal your idea or upset Kitty at all.

In fact honestly, I read the announcement about it, and read the sentence about you naming him after the Dark Lord, and it wasn't something that stayed stuck to the front of my mind. I seriously did not connect your Tom with Mike's Voldemort as a bunny that day, and only conciously remembered it after Kitty said something, and then I felt like crap for forgetting and making her upset.

I am really sorry about that.

Perhaps, on the Godfrey front, someone could maybe help me out and point out some things I could tone down so he doesn't seem so Mary-sueish?

It's hardest to see on your own characters, really. I have been trying to keep him away from Mary-suedom... but I admit I could have strayed into there without really knowing I have. sad

The Mary-Sue Litmus Test

...It's what helps me. xP
PostPosted: Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:47 am

There's actually a Harry Potter Mary Sue Litmus Test. I've used that with several of my OCs and a few of my versions of canon characters (like Teddy).

I've been really hesitant to take the Mary Sue Litmus test for Spica. I'm always so afraid of having a Mary-Sue. x__x

But...
I scored a 21 before the De-Sue-ifiers on the first test (that I linked). Then I got a 16.
I've never gotten that low before. *dances*

...Now just to do the one made for Harry Potter...

Edit:
I got an 8! <333~

Ceres got a four. She's such a b***h. I look forward to playing with her again. ^^;

O_O

I got a 9 on the Harry Potter test, and the Universal one was a bit wonky because I wasn't sure what sections to use, but I got like a 14.

So yeah.

Godfrey, unlike a lot of the characters, has developed outside of the guild... I mean... we only roleplay here once a week.... and often Spica and Godfrey aren't involved... so I do things with Godfrey for the rest of the week in the CAAT.

And Godfrey idolizes Rookwood.... who does not like to be hugged... so Godfrey knowlingly restrains himself from being so hyper/annoying around him because he wants Rookwood to like him.

I could not bring the staff into the guild, if you like.... however I don't think I can maintain Godfrey two seperate ways... he just changed where you all might not have been watching, is all. And with everything going on, Godfrey hasn't really had a chance to be himself... with the adults gone so much... he tries to be adult/strong for spica because he thinks that's what she needs... and a lot of the time we never finished roleplaying in scenes where Godfrey had the chance to revert back to normal a bit more (i.e Honeydukes) otherwise the atmosphere has been pretty serious..... and Godfrey tries not to be a bother by being hyper and stuff.. and he can't really feel happy and carefree when so many bad things are going on.

I mean, he's just a regular kid, mostly. He's not superman.

*gently* Cassy...

I don't want to be mean, or anything. But I'm going to take the test for Godfrey, as a third-party viewpoint.

I've had one of my characters for a story that was over 60k words turn out to be a Mary-Sue, and I was frustrated beyond belief. A girl at camp told me she was a Mary-Sue. So I know how it feels.

But I know that people are clouded when it comes to their own characters, so I'm going to put Godfrey through it. I'll be as fair and honest as I can be.

I'm just trying to help.

That's the problem with RPing, Cassy, is that even with the crack rules we have here, there are still some rules about characters leaving and disappearing every night to chit chat with a bunch of wannabe Death Eaters and such. Especially ones that preach hate and all of that crap and yet are best friends with Muggles or hang out willingly with werewolves who don't bother to look at a calendar once in a while to get an idea on when the full moon is.

I mean, I could easily have Teddy off chatting there as well, but I don't, because I know better then to have my character's jumping around from place to place.

I also happen to have Remus still answering question in the Ask Remus and Sirius thread (as if he was still in a relationship with Sirius), but I don't let that interaction interfere with his character development inside the guild RP. He's a different person in the guild and outside of it in certain threads.

I don't consider the CAA thread a viable part of this guild's universe either, but maybe that's just me.

...I've got a 53 for Godfrey on the first test. But I'm going through and making sure I didn't check anything by mistake.

I'm sorry.

And I agree with Ty; I rarely conclude that anything that happens outside the guild really happened. I mean, for chrissake-- Spica technically had sex with Snape in the Is Snape a Virgin thread. xP

Took a second test because I think Ty's test is more geared towards fanfiction.

The Mary Sue for HP RPGs Test

... I got a 40/160.

35+ Reconsider your character. Please.

...I'm sorry.
