*Luke looks around, grabs his bookbag and stuffs his shirt inside. He pats his jeans for his wallet and finds it.* Alright. I think I got everything.

*Bard and Luke fade into a small, somewhat stuffy sitting room. Piles of coats and winter accessories are draped across the furniture haphazardly. Beyond the closed-door, the sound of a fairly raucous party mixes with the throbbing beat of a karaoke machine*
*Bard turns toward Luke to make sure he faded in okay*

*Luke takes in the room. He looks to Bard and breathes a short, nervous sound.* Yeah...
*Luke immediately looks at a digital clock in the room: 10:20. Luke checks the window - at night. He was driving home with Nora. She was asking him to go running with her in the morning.*
*Luke runs a hand down his face.*

Luke, what's... *he stops in mid sentence. First they need to get out of this house before somebody wonders where Luke came from* ... nevermind. We'll talk later. Let's go back to my house.
*he finds his coat in the pile, looks at the way Luke is dressed, and tosses it to him*

Absolutely, we need to talk, but let's at least go out to the car. We don't want someone walking in and....
*But at just that moment, the door swings open revealing a woman in her 50s. Her green and red striped dress matches her mismatched shoes and her two-tone hair. She's got a glass of wine in her hand, and judging by her flushed face, it isn't the first glass of the evening*
"K~~~? Are you hiding in here again? After Tina is done with her song, you're getting up and singing whether you like it or..."
*She blinks as she sees Luke standing next to Bard*
"You know, K., if you wanted to bring your latest boy toy, you didn't have to hide him in the coat room...."
*Bard blushes red as a lobster, but he still manages to utter an indignant* Mo!

*Luke looks back and forth between Bard and ... So this was Mo. Luke's eyes widen in response to the woman's bright ensemble and then at the sudden nickname.*
*Under other circumstances, he would have had fun with this. But right now - they had to go.*
*Luckily, this is not the first drunk chick he's had to get past. Luke puts on a smile and jokes.* I'm sorry, you must have me confused with someone else. I got a name though. It's Luke. *He shakes her hand.* Sorry to crash your party. I'm just here to bother this guy.

"Oh... you're Luke. Well, that's interesting. You're welcome, of course. K's friends are always welcome here. Let me get you something to drink. I've got punch and eggnog, wine, beer. Miranda's in charge behind the bar. I'm sure she'd make you something else if you ask nicely."

*Luke smiles politely, and after a moment he says.* Thank you. I really wish I could stay here and take you up on that.
*takes a regretful breath* Unfortunately, I need to get out of here to take care of some family stuff. *grabs Bard's shoulder* And this man is my ride.
*puts out his hands hopefully* But I do love beer. Can I rain check?

*Mo arches an eyebrow, and her smile seems a little hollow*
"Well, you two drive carefully. It's really coming down out there. K, you still owe me a song, and don't you forget it!"
*Bard looks as though he'd already forgotten, but he smiles apologetically* Of course. I'll make it up to you at the next party. I'll... I'll even sing two songs.
*Mo smirks* "I'll believe it when I hear it."
*She leads them out of the sitting room into the foyer. Through a large archway, several dozen people of ages ranging from their early 20s to their late 60s can be seen milling around her living room, drinking, socializing, and having a good time. A karaoke machine features prominently and an extremely attractive blonde woman is currently leaving the the crowd in stitches with her rendition of "The Bad Touch"*

*Luke notices the blonde bombshell and her song choice, but aside from a glance, he doesn't pay her attention. Instead, Luke says to Mo.* It was nice to meet you in person. Bard's mentioned you before. I'm sorry to take off so soon.
