Hey, uh, did someone cover the Lambda-Shuttle here yet? I'm a little intimidated by 31 pages eek of ship specs and chat. I looked in up on the StarWars.com data bank, but is there anything else to it?
Hmm...I thought the Republic gunships were pretty cool. I'm sure this was deliberate (wait...it actually says so on the website), but they really remind me of old Vietnam war footage.

Actually, we really don't discuss much ship stats. Every once in a while we come up with something, but mostly, no.
And to the anything else to it page, no. I mean, the emperor installed cloaking generators, faster hyperspeed engines, etc., but really, its only a transport, not a bounty hunter's rig.

It isn't? Why?
-It's hyperspace capable. -It's got shields. -It's got lots and lots of guns. -Doesn't it also have a pretty good sensor suite and EW/ECM suite?
Or am I missing something obvious? redface

Nitty gritty: paraphrased from the essential guide to vehicles
-standard shuttles carry up to 20 passengers or 80 tons cargo, depending on configuration.
-have hyperdrives which allow it to jump from system to system.
-reinforced hull and shields
-3 double blaster cannons (one rear mounted) and two double laser cannons.
-Cygus Spaceworks version (not build by Sienar) has ten laser cannons.
-Synar does the standard transports, Cygnus does military version.
-command crew of four, with option to add two officers for communications; tasks can be handled by a single pilot, but performance suffers greatly
-often does not need military escort, and great for interior space
And that's about all...

Hmm... The Lambda might be something he (my character) could have picked up (old war gear, 'borrowed', etc), it can be flown by one person (albiet with some difficulty), and it gets him from place to place (atmosphere and hyperspace capable).
Is there something else that you would reccomend? Some kind of advanced TIE fighter?
TIE Advanced? Hyperspace capable, TIE Defender?
I kind of like the TIE Defender. The thing about TIE fighters is, are they atmosphere capable? If not, it really limits the places he could go with it.
Hmm... Any suggestions? My character is an ex-Stormtrooper mercenary/bountyhunter/drifter in the Shards of the Force Campaign. I kind of want to revise him a little before I jump in, and his ship is one thing they may need revision (Originally, he had a 'surplus' Lambda shuttle).

Anything that can go in space can go into atmosphere... Well, except for the largest of the Star Destroyer class and basically Super Capital ship. But we can't fly them single handedly anyways. The drawback with the TIE series is no life support system, so you're always having to suit up to fly in space. However, all ties are atmospheric capable, not just shuttles. The Tie Advanced and Tie Defender are unique in that they are the only ones so far that have shields. They also incorporate Hyperdrives as well. Personally, I'd stick with the Lambda shuttle, since defenders are relatively new, and the advance just... kinda don't do much besides shield and hyperdrive. they're only a bit better than a Tie fighter, and the project never got much attention. Plus, a Lambda shuttle doesn't have to be military grade, as many are sold commercially. Or you could consider freighters, such as the YT1300, YT2000, or the YT2400... Big, but fairly easy to handle single handed... as long as you have a droid.

Umm... Alright...I'm trying to pick out a ship.
Single pilot, hyperspace and atmosphere capable. Something with guns and shields, preferably.
I thought the Lambda needed a crew? Hmm...if I get one, I suppose I could get a crew to go with it...not sure, though.
What are some of the freighters like?
Also, I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but what is a disruptor?

A disruptor is a weapon. It is useful against organic things, though its not really great against any energy or metallic people. Disrupters on ships are useful only if shields are drained, so... take your pick.

Hey - my character in Shards is also an ex-stormie. 3nodding Well, defector, and now Jedi Knight. We discussed a ship for a bit before I picked up the starfighter for my charrie.

Ok, 1 person ships that would work for your character: Any of the YT series, the 2400 would be a good one (Thats the one flown by Dash Rendar). A Surronain 'Conqueror' class ship (Like the "Stinger" Flown by Xizors bodyguard, Guri). The Lambda. A Skipray Blastboat. Any luzury Yacht, Like the SoroSuub 300. A SoroSuub Starmite. A "Pheonix Hawk" class transport. And if you can work it into your story you can use the "Havoc", a H-6 bomber.

Hmm...I think I like the way the Lambda looks. But it is kind of large for just one person. Perhaps a YT-2400... He could always use his ship to haul cargo or passengers or something if the mercenary work runs thin.
Well, I don't have to decide until he decides to leave Ord Mandell, I guess.
Huh. My character isn't a Jedi, and I don't know if he'd get the Jedi Starfighter. I don't know if it's what I'm really looking for either.
I guess I'll stick with the Lambda. Now I just have to decide if (and how) it's been modified over the years. Probably more equipment, less room (but those things have a ton --eighty, actually xd -- of space, don't they?).
