A gentle cooing reached the ears of the young teen like the calling of angels. His eyes widened a bit and he turned to the source of the noise and locked eyes with a stunning dove that perched itself above on a branch over handing their pathway. He grinned, observing the feathered creature with admiration in his eyes. The dove cocked its head slightly, looking down at the people curiously, and shifted its wings.

"You're magnificent, aren't you?" Elijah said up to the bird, unaware that the group was pulling ahead of him. "What species are you?" He wanted to take out his art pad and sketch the bird, but thought better of it.

RuiZhi had the grace to blush a little; he hadn't caught up with her to give advice, but there it was anyway. "Oh, you're welcome." He was just a bashful teenager, what could he possibly say to this jovial woman? "S-so...I heard you're a singer." He wasn't looking at Lina now, instead using his trepidation as an excuse to look around for 'clues.' "What do you like to sing?" He had half a mind to ask if she sang opera, for Rylenn, but for some reason she didn't strike him as the type of singer that the red-head was so keen on listening to. Even so, the thought made him smile, loosening some of his nerves. Ryelnn wasn't even here, and yet he was helping the boy; just like him to do that without trying!

The Advisor chuckled quietly, a little warmer than Irame's short laughter. "Don't sell yourself short, Professor. We each serve a purpose. The boys don't know what they're capable of, but they are not afraid to try." He turned his brown eyes on the elven woman, that small smile just a little more sincere. "I have faith in everyone here. Each person has their own specialty, their desire to do more than be idle, and it will not go to waste." He looked forward and stopped suddenly; seeing as they were supposed to be observing, he couldn't help but notice they were missing one of their group. The man turned to look behind, eyes settling on the soft spoken boy, Elijah. Rather than call to him, he simply watched and waited, not willing to interrupt something that could be important or at the very least, a welcome break.

Irame smiled once more back at Herei. She felt a little better when he laughed, but when he mentioned the boys she looked around at them, and noticed that one was lagging behind, and the smile once more faded a little. She was happy that they were willing to help, but she didn’t like the fact that they were here.

“I have faith in them all as well…” She said stopping near him, and resisting the urge to call Elijha over to the group. “But I worry about them. For their safety and all.” She gestured towards the student.

“Specking of such things… Do you have any idea of what might be going on?” Irame had her own ideas, but she doubted them and would liked to hear someone else’s.

Though his eyes were still locked on the cooing bird, he could see the two forms ahead that had stopped within his peripheral vision and instantly his eyes connected with both Irame and Herei. A little blush of embarrassment had streaked across his cheeks knowing he must have looked foolish talking to the bird like that, but before he left the creature he smiled up to it.

"Farewell. Have a good evening," he said lightly and the bird responded cocking its head to the side. He grinned, but darted off, connecting back with his group. "Sorry about that," he murmured, looking to the pair. The flapping of wings was heard above and looking up he saw the dove once more. "Following us, little guy?" Elijah gave an inquisitive expression.

Herei watched Elijah approach with the boys sheepish smile, feeling his own soften. He didn't know what the boy was doing, but it didn't matter, so long as he was well. The man extended a hand for Elijah to walk in front of the two teachers, mostly so he wouldn't fall behind again; surely this place was mesmorizing and new to each person, and as an individual they would react to it differently. He did not pretend it was unusual.

As he started to walk again, he addressed Irame's previous question. "I can't say for certain," he said with gentle acknowledgement, "as there's not enough answers to the questions yet. However," he paused his words, continuing to walk as he formulated his thoughts to offer verbally. He didn't want to assume anything. After a silent moment, he continued, "I don't believe these people are inherently violent. There was no history of violence before this, even minimally with the Luna Caps."

Another pause. "Something isn't matching up. There's something vital missing between the natives and what has driven them to be so angry, so much so to react in the manner they have chosen." Herei was not about to call them murderers. "There's something else we're missing," his words fell to a light murmur at the last part, not bothering to add that he hoped they found the missing piece before it was too late. He turned his curious gaze upon the elven woman, asking, "Do you have any ideas, Professor?"

“It is fine, Elijah.” Irame said as the student came back to the group. She did, however, wait for Herei before she started to walk as well. She listened intently and didn’t say anything until after he was done and asked for her opinion.

“My ideas…” She frowned slightly and furrowed her eyebrows. “They’re probably rather biased. I doubt that they’re even close to right but…” She looked around, as if she was embarrassed, then said a little bit quiter than she had before. “I keep thinking things like undead, or demons, or devils or such things. I am probably just being paranoid however, so…” She shrugged.

Something doesn't feel right about this place...not that the place ever DID feel right.

Kenth kept his head low at all times during the resting period. And since everyone else was quiet enough (which he was grateful of), his mind started sorting out everything that happened together. He left the land last time on a truce, and the natives promised to not bother the sceintists again if they leave the place, which in turn they did, but came back with a new group of people. Were the natives hardcore enough on killing the newcomers because the sceintist didn't obey their part of the treaty? Highly unlikely. What drove them mad must be something much larger, something that they feel threatened if they don't act first. Kenth peeked at the errie purple glow of the temple. Last time the glow was caused by the waterglass and its reflection on the wet land due to the full moon. This time...

Kenth looked up for a moment. The sky was gray and there was no light. Kenth did not bring a watch, but from the surroundings he could say that it was not night yet, for the sky was still light in color compared to the darkness of the night. Nothing then, would give the temple its new glow, which was strong enough to surpress the flourescent light emitted from the waterglass. Could this have something to do with the natives?

Kenth stood up and walked toward the temple. He put a hand on the smooth stone. It felt cool, but other than this coolness, which was natural, he could not feel anything else unusual. The stone itself was not glowing, but when Kenth looked around he could already see that he was surrounded by the purple light, which seemed to have no effect on his body.

Perhaps, microscopic particles again? Kenth waved his hand at the light. It did not move. The young doctor frowned and decided that his thinking were probably far off. Perhaps the glow of the temple changes like this all the time, perhaps it really had nothing to do with the natives...

Kenth suddenly shruddered. In a twitch of the muscle Kenth turned sharply, eyes glancing around the landscape. Did he just feel something? Did he just feel like he was being watched...? Kenth shook his head lightly and tried to calm down. It could be some small animals that sneaked around the area...

Animals. The natives, the way they kill...the way they said some of the people died here...

Animals.

Quickly stepping away from the temple, Kenth gestured at everyone else to get up. "Quickly, we have to get to our destination before dark. I don't have a good feeling about staying in the forest..."

"And stay together, no matter WHAT. Understand?"

Alex had been sitting with the rest of the group, but far enough away that they could talk and she wouldn't be eavesdropping. It was enough that she made herself sit rather than be stubborn as an ox and stand, and more than enough that she let Kenth walk off on his own towards that monster building without her. Part of her rationalized that it would be hard to ever make her go back to that place, no matter who was near it, but she tried not to think too much about it.

She wasn't really sitting. Sitting would require comfort, leisure and some form of relaxation. Alex couldn't remember the last time she felt any of those things; instead, she was resting on the balls of her toes, her knees pointing towards the ground but not touching, her elbows against her thighs. At least in this position, she could spring into action if anything happened, not that she expected such a thing. She was almost certain that there were no humans in this forest except for the gathered. No humans...but maybe something else.

The woman glanced over her shoulder at Kenth's sudden commands, frowning to herself. Oh good, NOW he was concerned about being in the forest. Brilliant man, but a bit slow. She sighed quietly, standing deftly and motioning for the rest to do the same. Her mind turned over the possibility at being frightened that the doctor was so worried, but she found it hard to be afraid of what concerned a man who insisted on dressing like the target of the native's rage. Someone who didn't consider such things...well, he was probably concerned about what had been eating at her the whole time.

Alex gently pressed the boys forward, glancing over to the silent Audun to make sure she didn't have to do the same for him. She'd let Kenth lead, and take the rear; she could watch them all this way, and she preferred to have at least that much control over what was happening.

Lina cocked her head. "Ah, well, u-um, yes, I am. I sing at a club--usually cover songs by other artists. I-I-I have horrible stage fright, however. I have no idea how I made it through Wicked without fainting, especially since I was playing one of the leads." She gave a bit of a bashful laugh and blushed.

Rylenn looked at the other two in his group. He looked at the lake and moved closer to the edge. He pointed out to close to the middle. Something was lightly bobbing, as if weighted by something. "I.. don't quite know what that is.. but it.. but it looks like a body." He turned his head and hid it in Weiyuan's neck. He didn't want to see another body.. not now.

Dante edged closer, taking a look, squinting--

Ah.

It did appear to be a body.

....At least part of one, anyway. Ew.

"Greg, is it just me or does it look like part of the body is...not...visible?" he asked as tactfully as he could.

...And failing.

The boy continued forward, minding now not to fall behind as he had before, after all, the next time he may not be so lucky as to have their watchful eyes catch his absence. As they walked, he listened to their ideas, wondering as well what was happening to the native people of this land. He couldn't say what his own thoughts were, after all, he was here to find out exactly what was the cause and hadn't truly thought about it before.

Even as they walked he heard the flapping of the doves wings and wondered why it was the bird was following them. 'I hope that means we'll have a bit of good luck,' he thought, wondering all the while.

Herei was quiet as Irame was talking, and remained so for a time after she was finished. He had lifted an eyebrow at her suggestions, but it was not incredulous or condescending; in fact, the elven woman's theories hit very close to home, and gave him more unpleasant possibilities to entertain. Unfavorable enough that he wasn't quite ready to share.

He knew everything about the Goddess Luna, her Caps, and exactly what she was the Goddess of.

"Undead, demons, or devils," he repeated thoughtfully. "Might I ask why you feel that way?" Although he was still watching his group and their surroundings, he took a few moments to look at Irame as she talked.

RuiZhi looked up at Lina as she talked, grinning a little as she stuttered. "I think it'd be fun if Sister and I could see you sing. I can't imagine being on stage! I'm bad enough meeting new people." His grin faded into a shy smile, which quickly turned into a curious 'o' shape. "Wicked? What's that?" Truly, the boy was that sheltered. He knew little of the world of entertainment, let alone theatrics; Lina may as well have been another teacher, for each new thing she mentioned was something learned.

He wondered if everything would be okay as they continued on deeper and deeper, and he wondered if he would actually survive whatever was going on. Of course these wonderings would stay within himself, as Audun would never actually admit to the man, woman, and children in front of him that the little trickle of sweat that ran down his spine with icy effects wasn't just from the intense heat.

They had been walking forever it had seemed, and when he felt that the man in charge was actually going to give them all a quick break...Kenth had seemed so uneasy and commanded them all to move again. Of course Audun had no problem keeping moving for long periods of time in any temperature, but his concern right now fell towards the two younger boys whom he wasn't too sure had either the stamina nor the complete endurance for the move.

Alex, he had come to understand, could probably carry and elephant and skip for a thousand miles. Of course this was an exaggeration, but the thought made him smile, albiet wolfishly. Audun rubbed the back of his head with his right hand and ruffled the hair in an effort to alleviate some of the sweat that the movement and heat had gathered in place.

"....Ah."

He'd opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it after only muttering a single sound. Words weren't really important anymore it seemed, just the ability to follow orders and watch out for one's self.

"It's something called a musical," Lina said, and grinned. "It's like an opera, except it's not all singing. There's acting in it, too, and more speaking than in an opera. It's also less...well, refined, I suppose? More modern-sounding than anything..."

She laughed again. "I learned with the musical that acting wasn't for me, even though I was good at it. So now I stick with singing at clubs for some money to pay my way through college."
