Ooh. Two of the neatest musicals on the planet.
Anyway, at the store today, I saw this thing that said 'Rawl' on it. No joke. Which made me think of your 'mishearing POTO' thread joke, I am lion. Rawl. Sadly, I forget what the thing was though...

My calculus teacher would unintentionally butcher a lot of people's names during role call. The one that struck out to me, was when he would call my friend, Rahul, RaOUL.
Fortunately, Raoul would never correct him, so I took advantage and went "Oh Raoul!" (with Christine angsty face).

So in lieu of the release of Deathly Hallows around the corner I have just finished re-reading all the HP books and lo and behold I reach the chapter in which Harry and Dumbledore are off to find a Horcrux and I nearly hit myself in the head! The lake! The lake, the boat the inferi (magiked corpses)...duh so totally Erik's lake from the book!
and snape. dearest severus snape has ALWAYS reminded me of erik. he is the phantom of hogwarts!
Oh I doubt anyone else has seen this but there is a Spanish soap opera called "Yo Soy Bea" and in it there is a supposedly dead woman who is really alive and she left a notes to several people. I'm like "Notes!" and then I squealed quite loudly and nearly fell off my chair when one of the characters said "why, she is acting like the phantom of the opera" it was so cool!

I've never seen the show, but I know that its title is "I am Bea". Anyway... Phantom of Hogwarts...that sounds like a good username... Um...recently I've had this really weird dream where this guy I like (who's coming back to my school next year! yay!) gets burned in a classroom fire. He then decides to don a cape and fedora and haunt the auditorium. ...maybe I should stop listening to my OLC soundtrack both ways on the bus for camp...

Hm... my friend who currently despises POTO had some refs in an RP of hers. She said something of an 'angel born in hell'.

Aahh, there are so many references in our culture. I see them from time to time and remember them often.
One I had forgotten, I should really get smacked for. Aanyone seen sailor moon? Of course, tuxedo kamen! ahhh mask, tux, red/black cape and he throws red roses.
I really wanted to get the boxed sets of the "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" boxed seasons and noticed theres a lot of tales with "Phantom" in it. There are two episodes which stand out though, one is where this monster like figure haunts a high school and kidnaps a female violinist and another in which this witch like old woman steals beauty from teenage girls that attended her school and then gave them full white masks to wear to cover the mangled mess their faces became...reminiscent of the white masks in Masquerade.
Oh yea and then I was watching cartoon network at an ungodly hour the other day and there was this chandelier thing falling on Eunice (sp?) and a claim thta a phantom did it

Phantom of the Forum Utakan Dies Irae is part of Mozart's Requiem. Not a PotO referance since it's never been used in any phantom-related thing. People tend to link Toccata and Fugue in D Minor with PotO, though. Hm...that's interesting. But, in the Leroux book, Dies Irae is mentioned...eh, it's not used enough in the Phantom performances/books/whatever to be called a refrence. I suppose the same goes for Kyrie Eleison? The reason Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is linked to Erik is because of the '63 movie.

I thought it was some random word she made up. I never would have guessed that. I really do think too much for the summer.

Oooo I just remembered one that I had forgotten. Any of you ever watch Ugly Betty? Well there was this one episode in which Betty's nephew gets a present from his dad. It is a full Football outfit and he takes the cup (kind of gross I know) puts it over half his face and says (in a very dramatic voice) "I'm the Phantom of the Opera" I squealed loudly...my roommate came barging into my room asking whats was wrong. lol!
