He skirted around all five of the clones, never taking his eyes off that shuriken, only stopping when he was sure he had done the exercise correctly. Shinichi warily walked back to his starting position, avoiding any chance of slipping up again. It was obvious he only had a chance of trouble with spotting the shuriken and not dodging the clones' attacks like some other people. He looked up and dashed at the clones, throwing his arms behind him as he had seen some training ANBU do before.

It was as if his eyes were replaced with those of an eagle. His body had moved on its own, leaving his mind and eyes to focus completely on spotting the shuriken. Shinichi had not ever recalled when he could see things so clearly, then the amazing sight faded and he was left with his normal vision. He pushed some hair back and looked the shuriken once more. Assured that it had not disappeared, Shinichi ran towards the five clones with nimble feet.

Speaking of eagle eyes... There must have been some bloodline that all shinobi have that allows them to see so much better than the normal people. He avoided the clones, dodging their pathetic punches by at least half a metre. The boy saw the shuriken clear as ever and leapt back to restart the exercise. Shinichi charged the clones, veering towards the left, always looking for that shuriken.

And he had to go and become arrogant. Shinichi swerved around the clones, but somehow managed to lose sight of that blasted shuriken. He retreated to the starting position and squinted to attempt to see the piece of metal through all that foliage. The boy thought he could make out something as he rushed into the crowd of water clones again, determined to both dodge and spot at the same time.

Shinichi placed a hand on a watery shoulder and pushed his way around the clones until he could see that gleaming black metal up in the tree. He walked quickly back, then dashed towards the water clones. They resembled another shinobi this time, one whom he had seen around, but had never really met. He was male, probably a genin, and had some strange bloodline that allowed him to fly. Shinichi shook his head to clear the thought and dashed towards the clones.

One of the clones tried an uppercut at his chin, but he stepped back to avoid the attack, slipping behind that clone. The others weren't much harder to dodge. Shinichi arrived at the base of the tree and glanced up, relieved to see that ever familiar shuriken. He got lucky this time. The boy hurried back to his spot, thinking that if he managed to complete this step, he would be even with Aya-san. Everytime he thought of her, it was as if.... It was better to forget about that and move on. What was more important than his own individual training, anyway? Shinichi made a vow then and there to not let her get in the way of his path of a ninja, although he couldn't promise not to constantly compete with her at the Academy. He scowled and ran at the five clones.

Darn, he had allowed her to even distract him from the current task. Shinichi wanted to knock the tree down right now, but he someone managed to remain calm. No! It had been his choice to train in both the Palm Jutsus and he had learned the first much faster than Myobi-san. But, none of that was suppose to matter right now; The only thing that did was whether he was able to spot that shuriken after avoiding all the clones' attacks. He rushed forward, swerving right and left to dodge their punches and kicks.

He spotted the shuriken and rushed back, wondering why the clones refused to attack him now. Although this was merely training, he would be dead withiin seconds if he believed that his enemies were going to allow him to return to a safe place and then attack. Shinichi watched the five water clones out of the corner of his eyes, their blank faces not giving him any consulation. He approached the tallest one, preparing to repeat the same routine again.

Shinichi cleared again, as with the many times before. He was dealing with a new kind of luck here, one that required exact timing as well as the usual performance luck. One well-placed mistake would not matter much, but one unfortunate goof could mean a significantly longer training session. It was like running, really. Placing a foot three centimetres either to the right or left could mean the difference between a broken ankle or the needed speed boost. He skirted around the clones, spied the shuriken, then dashed back with as much enthusiasm. Now there was only to repeat this training many times more.

Just a little more now. He jumped wide of the clones and spotted the shuriken before retreating back a few steps. So this was training, a rigourous repetition of steps until perfection was achieved. It was not surprising at all to the boy, although the benefits almost didn't seem worth it at the moment. That was no reason to quit, however. Shinichi slid to a stop, then bounded off at great speed towards the same old water clones.

One of them came too close for comfort and Shinichi was forced to divert his eyes. Now of all times, when he had come so close! It was just like before. But, he could never give up, not while learning the technique that was practically built for him. He slowly took off his sword, leaning it respectfully against a tree. There was no room for distractions, even the slightest could create failure. Shinichi narrowed his eyes, then ran forwards, always looking up into the trees.

One of the clones's chops connected with his stomach and Shinichi winced as the watery hand dug in. He backtracked to avoid any more blows, face reddining from both frustration and the shame of not being able to do any better. He had been training the same thing for hours now, but somehow could find the strength to continue. Shinichi could tell that his willpower, however, was faltering. But, another side of him still pressed onwards and that part easily won. He scanned the area for that shuriken and ran to the right this time.
