Krii'Ouse walked into the bar covering Haven. He moved over to Hunter's counter, and laened against it, slightly inebriated. 'Hunter... lemme getta Goose Island, eh?' he asked, sitting on a stool, and lighting up a cigarette.
'When d'ya start smoking, Sethe?' the elderly ex-Hunter asked the youthful Lycan.
'Since I started slipping to Hell. My life's gone to s**t, hunter, and I can't do anything about it anymore. SO I'm killing myself slowly. Skiaska left me, Kerri doesn't seem to want to have a thing to do with me, and Esou's knocked out from some damn drug I got shot with... My life is in shambles, and since your policy is me not getting booze till this summer, I can't drink away my sorrows...'
'Then why are ye drunk?' Hunter asked.
'I yoinked a Bacardi from Cookie...' he said admittedly, inhaling some smoke from his cancer stick. 'Yeh I'm naughty, so what?' he said rebelliously.
'Calm down buddy.' Hunter said. 'Here's yer Goose Island.'
'Thanks Hunter...' He sipped the root beer, and swirled around, leaning against the bar and watching the dancers thumping together in the dance arena. 'If I had someone to dance with, I'd join them...'

The sure scent of a fellow Lycan entered the air, and Liora glanced briefly to her right and saw the leader she'd only seen briefly from previously. He was discussing things with the bartender; things that probably were none of her business, but Liora's curiosity ended up getting the best of her. She kept an eye on her fellow hunter from the corners of her eyes. Ah, so that explains his quick departure... she thought to herself, smiling inwardly as a piece of the 'great puzzle' fell into place. The information she overheard explained a bit of the hectic events that occurred at the apartments earlier. Deciding that she'd had enough of the eavesdropping, Liora deigned to speak up.
"I hate to break it to you, but smoking and drinking doesn't do much for us lycans. We regenerate too swiftly for it to do anything horrible long-term." Liora turned in her chair to face the leader. An ironic grin was present on her face. "Of course, I might also be making that up as an excuse for two filthy habits of my own."
As she spoke, Liora's mind was still processing other data in a whirlwind of activity. As it appeared, the three leaders represented three of the four races: human, lycan, and vampire. A well-applied and logical system, indeed; whomever had set it up as such apparently shared a thought-process similar to hers.
Her thoughts halted abruptly as she spied the freshly lit cigarette the leader had. She'd just had a smoke, so it wasnt't necessary...but Liora still found herself craving another visit with the ole' nicotine and filter. Stowing her carrying case under the bar with the rest of her paraphernalia, Liora removed a Salem from its box and glanced at the leader.
"May I have a light, sir?" she asked, holding out the cigarette.

Krii'Ouse couldn't help but smile at the lycan's attempt at a joke. 'Thanks, kid. You made me less shitty.' he said, not knowing this woman's age. He caught her thoughts about the how the Hunter's leadership was comprised of the three majour races.
'Sorry, but your thoughts are a waterfall, especially when I'm drunk, I can't help but hear almost everything. I'd like to correct your thoughts. We didn't plan it that way. I don't even know if I'm fit to be a leader, I'm just the generator engineer for God's sake. So I did a few good things, got bit by a Lycan piece of filth, no offense, and saved a few people's asses. Does that really mean I'm worthy of leadership? I'm no more qualified then Joe Shmoe.' he said, humility being one of the things he'd brag about if he wasn't anti-bragging. Besides, bragging about beng humble defeats the purpose of being humble.
'I don't know much about the other guy, Astande or whatever the ******** his name is.' he said, holding his hand out and a flame emitting from his index finger. 'I don't trust him. He looks like he think's he's all that cus he's real old. I gotta tell you, in my opinion, I don't know why the ******** Will's trusting him so fast, the guy's been gone for quite a while, then when he comes back he gets to D class in one ******** day. What the ********?!' Anyone who knew Krii'Ouse, knew he normally shunned obscenities, but in his state, one would understand.
'I don't ******** understand what's in William's head. And it pisses me off that I don't know what my brother's thinking, dammit!' he drank from the Goose Island, hoping it would be alcoholic miraculously, but it wasn't. 'Damn...'

Liora blinked once in mild surprise at the presence of the flame on his finger, but she held out her cigarette and lit it without any visible signs of her shock. That was a trick she hadn't seen before; then again, so was the leader's ability to read minds. Liora shifted somewhat uncomfortably in her chair; she'd never done any research about telepaths, so her knowledge on them was limited. There were some things lurking in the depths of her mind that she didn't want anyone, especially a leader of the Hunters, to tap into.
"Mm, well thank you for the correction and the light." she spoke, bringing the cigarette to her lips and inhaling deeply from it. When she exhaled, she did so through her nose. Its smoke drifted around her like a vague halo, framing her face before disappearing altogether. "It would have been most unfortunate for me to continue thinking under such false pretenses. And there's no offense taken by the Lycan comment; I probably hate them...us, I mean, just as much as you."
Liora didn't bring the subject of his reference to her as a 'kid' up. He was drunk, so he didn't know better. Besides, he'd probably pick up her mild disapproval of the term because of his abilities. No deep hurt was caused by it, but Liora certainly did not like it. In her mind, she'd stopped being a 'kid' when she moved out of her house and was disowned at the ripe age of 18.
Hauling her thoughts away from that train of thought with perhaps too much force, Liora instead replied to another comment she'd heard the leader make.
"Being as new as I am, I am probably in no position to make such a comment, but I do think you're fit to be a leader. It takes a great deal of courage to wield such power, and a great deal more than that to take responsibility for the consequences of your choices as a leader. The people beneath you are your charges; the fact that you saved a 'few people's asses' shows that you're dedicated your charges. Furthermore, I've yet to meet this 'Will' you speak of, but, for you Hunters to have been around so long, I believe that his judgement is sound."
Liora paused to take another slow pull from her cigarette.
"Though, I am struck by the irony of the fact that you cannot understand what's going through his head. You are a telepath, aren't you?" she teased him gently, chuckling softly to herself. Her question was rhetorical, naturally. Liora was simply trying to be jovial; this lycan beside her seemd to be in an overly emotional state, and he seemed to need all the comfort and uplifting he could get.

'Yeh, that's what's wrong though.' he clearly didn't catch her rhetorical joking. 'It's like he's thinking so fast and always calculating this over that, it's hard to catch any of the thoughts which let me know how my brother's feeling. I even made an empathic bond with the b*****d when he saved me, but I still can't read him as well as I used to. Recent;y things have been weighing him down too much. He thinks he's Christ, taking on the full responsibility for all of our actions.' he inhaled from his cigarette, and took a cue from the other lycan. He thought he'd try to exhale through his nose. Hell if they could do it in movies, why couldn't he.
And he did. 'Oh God that burns.' is what he would have said, but he bit his tongue to keep from saying it. Instead it came out as 'Nph Gnf, thfth hthf.'
He decided against repeating the process for a while. 'Anyways, he's been forcing himself under a boulder, digging his way under it, and now the ground is giving way, and he's gonna get crushed.' Strange... he was inebriated, but he came up with a great analogy...
'The b*****d's gonna kill himself out there... and then what'll happen to us? We'll be split into two ******** groups: Slayers, and Guardians. One group will hunt for the kill, the other will try to maintain balance. New York will go to Hell. That's why I don't trust this vampire punk.'
He must be sobering up, he was forethinking... He sucked on the cigarette again, and exhaled through his mouth this time, not risking burning his nostril hairs again.

Liora's golden eyes gleamed in amusement as she caught sight of her companion trying to imitate her. In a way, she understood his pain; when she first started smoking, she couldn't stand it. Smoking, like many things, was an acquired taste for the vaguely masochistic.
"That's his duty as a leader," spoke Liora, continuing in their little conversation. "As I understand it, he's above both you and Astande. When the other lycans, vampires, and demons hear the word 'Hunters', his name will inevitably be attached to it. Our actions are a direct reflection of his leadership."
She could sympathize with Will on thinking fast, too. Liora's mind shifted back to her thoughts from previously about how others had always accused of her analyzing everything too much. Yes, she certainly could sympathize about the 'thinking too fast' part.
"He's forcing himself under that boulder because that's the only way he sees that he can alleviate the Hunter's current situation. If he's the sort of fast-thinker that I believe him to be, Will's analyzing the situation in such a way that he fails to see the obvious in favor of the complicated. That's why you and Astande are here- to provide input on the situation from different perspectives; if you're worried about the boulder crushing him, find a way to remove it from the top. Even chipping off a small portion of this 'boulder' would have astronomical effects."
The metaphor had its uses; Liora wasn't entirely sure that she grasped what her comrade was concerned about or that it was any of her business, but by using the metaphor, she could console him to the best of her abilities. However, she was unable to reply to the lycan about the comments he made about Astande. Liora believed him to be respectable from the times she'd been around him; however, she feared that there was an element of truth to the Lycan's concerns. She knew nothing of Astande's past.
It was time for another swig of vodka, Liora decided. She removed her flask from its special compartment on her holster and traced a finger affectionately over the engraving present on its surface. Then, she removed the lid and took a hearty swallow before putting it away once again. As it had been before, Liora was not intending on getting boozed-up tonight. A little swallow was all she needed to lubricate the over-worked gears of her mind.

'Whatever...' Krii'Ouse replied smugly. He was tired of talking so much right now. He dragged on his smoke, and exhaled slowly. 'I stiull think he's digging himself into his own grave, and way too deep.' He drank some root beer, and leaned his elbow on the counter, having turned around again.
'I'm going to... do something... wanna go downstairs and watch a movie? We can't do much during this lockdown... so I may as well entertain myself...' he asked in a friendly invitation.

Liora shrugged absentmindedly as she took another pull from her cigarette. The embers flared up as she inhaled, and, casting a bemused look at the leader, she exhaled through her nose yet again. The smoke still stung a little bit, but it was bearable and well worth it for the reactions of others.
"Sure." she agreed, pulling the cigarette away from her lips. "What movies are there?"
Liora twirled the cig inbetween her thumb and forefinger thoughtfully. She couldn't quite recall the last time she'd watched something other than the blasted News or Weather Report. The concept of watching a movie seemed surreal and almost distant now. What flashed across the screen during a movie somehow seemed more realistic, more tangible than the cheap horror flick that had become her life.
"My name's Liora, by the way. Liora Thorne."
Shifting the cig to her nondominant hand, Liora extended her right hand for the leader to shake. Liora felt more confident about bestowing people with her full name; obviously, many of the hunters here were not familiar with the local theatre scene, and they, therefore, would not recognize her from her days as an actress.

'Thorne...' he said pensively. He thought he'd heard that name before his life went to Hell; almost literally. 'Well, nice to meet you, liora.' he said, grabbing hold of her forearm with his hand. 'I prefer grasping arm to clasping hands. Makes me feel like a knight.' he said jokingly.
He leaned over the counter, grabbing another Goose Island. ''Ey!' Hunter called.
'What, here's your money!' Krii'ouse replied, putting three bucks on the counter.
'I'm Sethe Teslae. Otherwise known as Krii'Ouse. That's the name I gave myself when my powers culminated. With a new life, I needed a new name.' he said, introducing himself. 'We can go watch...' he thought for a moment. 'Heh... Underworld.' he said ironically.
'It's funny how damnably close they are to what really *is* happening.' he joked, standing, Goose Island in hand, smoke in the other. He sucked on his square, and moved towards the secret entrance. 'Coming?'

Liora laughed politely in response to his ironic choice of movies. He couldn't have stated it better; the movies did seem strangely close to the truth of things. Before her 'rebirth', Liora would have never thought twice about their validity. In fact, she'd never given much credit to such action flicks prior to becoming a lycan. They were too 'brash' and 'unsophisticated' for her tastes previously; she preferred rich, theatrical texts to the public-swindling junk in movie theatres, but now, Liora found herself doing a complete about face. She was an action movie junkie.
"It's nice to meet you too, Krii'Ouse." she replied. "And, of course I'm coming."
Liora paused only to fetch her carrying case and gear from under the bar and swung it over her shoulder with her left hand. Like Krii'Ouse, she still sported her cigarette in her right hand. She held it carefully between her lips as she reached and adjusted the strap of her case accordingly on her shoulder. Though it didn't weigh much, it still weighed enough to cut off circulation to her arm. As she followed Krii'Ouse, she took another pull from her cigarette. She estimated that she could get a few more good pulls from the cig before she had to put it out.
((Ditto. xd ))

He sat at the bar, in full hunting gear, and tapped on the counter. "Hey there, newbie, what can I get ya?" Hunter chuckled. "For the last time, Hunter, I'm not a newbie. I've been at this for a few years now." Ein shook his head. "Ah, I know that. But from the looks of things..." He gestured to the new scar on Ein's face, "...I'd say you're still a little wet behind the ears. How long'd you spend in the Infirm with that?" Hunter gave a short belly laugh at Ein's expense. Ein had to force a smile. He didn't like it when people said such things, but he had to agree with Hunter's logic. "A week. Gail suggested a few weeks, but I left early." Ein rapped his fingers irritably on the bar counter. He stood up and turned to leave, but turned again to face Hunter when he heard Hunter's '`Ey!' call. He caught the flying root beer, but his hand stung as though the can had been shot rather than thrown. Hunter had an arm.
Ein walked to the front entrance, ready to start out on another hunt, when he heard a ruckus outside the door. Ace and Queenie were blocking someone from entering, and when he heard the lycan's voice, he knew who it was. The door was opened and Ein walked out, Ace and Queenie blocking his view of Finn. "Well, well, well. I wasn't expecting to see you so soon. Especially in a place such as this." Ein chuckled. He could only make small-talk at the moment. His gear was left by the door inside, he couldn't very well fight her in full sight of mortals...as much as he wanted to...
