DarkElement I am a flutist, and i am third chair pretty much. The other flutists are snooty, and just don't except me, but i don't care. They can wear unoriginal clothing and not practice and call themselves the best. The girl who is 4th chair says she is better then me in actions, and most everyone can see that. the 1st chair player got 1st chair by being close to the band director, and has no clue to what 6/8 time is. The girl in 2nd chair is very nice, and she is the best of everyone i think. She deserved 1st chair.
If i screw up on one thing, the girls will look at me with disgust, when they mess up all the time. It ticks me off bad. Also the second row of flutes bring us down badly. So the flutes sound like a mess of Eflats, and Enaturals, when we were supposed to play Enatural.
Luckily the teacher got smart and is changing the seats. 3nodding Thank goodness. I can not deal with the girl sharing stands with me the 4th chair girl. Tell those bitches to stop being so hypocritical. domokun When I was in beginning band (bless my newbie flute heart), there was a girl who was a grade higher than me. She thought that she was the Queen of Flutists. I would have loved sticking her flute up her... *ahem* Anyway, she moved. I was better than her anyway, I got first chair. (*w00t*) But the other two flutists seemed to think that they were better than me, that they just got "stage fright" when they had to test for chair positions. (Which, if it isn't some made-up save-my-a**-from-humilitation bullshit, happened to me so I say we were even) I got back at them by bragging about my chair position all the time.

DevilNightShade KaliliEclipses I'm a flutist! All the girls (and guy) in my section are nice. we don't have any guys in our flute section crying We have two guys. 3nodding Both seniors, though. And one JUST joined this year. He was nominated for Homecoming Court though, which was cool. The other guy thinks I'm cool 'cause I know Zelda music. xp His little brother goes on this site, too. I found him randomly... IMed him 'cause his profile said he was in high school in my town and found out who he was. XDD

i play flute. AND IF MY BAND DIRECTOR WOULD LET ME PLAY PICCOLO, I WOULD PLAY THAT. but.. he won't let me. *imitating band director* Quote: you have to wait until high school .. i cant wait for this year to be over.. xp

If we go all the way back to talking about height, the wind ensemble flutes are, on average, short. I'm 5'7, 4th chair is 5'3, 2nd is about 5'4ish, and 1st is 4'11.
At a concert last year, the wind ensemble was standing at the end. Lauren (1st chair stressed ) was standing between a 6'2ish oboe and the 2nd chair at the time who was about 5'6 and wearing platform shoes. It was really funny.
Sadly our flute section is made of two juniors and two sophomores. I think in our band there are only four or so seniors. Our BD came in their 7th grade year, so a lot of kids dropped. I remember in sixth grade the 8th and 7th grade bands had 30ish kids. We had 75. I remember at our first concert I was sharing a chair with the girl next to me. It was awful.
