Kahlua wasn't very interested in science, but she knew it was important to do her classes. Folding her arms over her desk, she leaned forward with a bored expression on her face. While it took her a moment to go fetch her textbook, she went to retrieve a book before taking her seat again. Deciding to pick one at random, she found Chlorine as she flipped through the pages. Chlorine has the atomic number of 17. By its self, it is a toxic gas, used mostly for chemical weapons. It is a yellowy-green dense gas with a choking smell. However, it can also be used as a germ spray. In smaller doses, it is used for treating drinking water and for swimming pools.
A curious expression crossed the child's face. Could one substance have so many uses? It seemed it had, even more, uses as she read on, it surprised the young Baphomet.

Response:
Neat! An assignment about elements! Elirian swung her feet happily as she waited her turn to jump from her seat and rush the poster of the periodic table that had been supplied for this project. She had no idea what she was going to pick, or how she was even going to go about talking about it on front of the whole class. Maybe she could make her own poster? Something pretty and shiny and… Wait, what was she thinking? This wasn't art class. She giggled under her breath at herself as she finally made her way up to the board. Without preamble, she smacked one hand over her eyes and began to make large, wide circles with her other until she pressed her index finger firmly against the laminated paper. She spread her fingers and peeked through the crack, a smile spreading over her face as she saw her selected element. Quickly, she slid back into her seat, picking up a rather large book so she could find the element called ‘gallium’.
It didn't take her long to come upon a section detailing her chosen element. She began to jot down a few key points, making sure to add things that were of particular interest. After a few minutes, she hopped up out of her seat (once it was her turn, of course) and told before the class with a beaming grin. “I chose gallium! It's atomic number is 31, and they use ‘Ga’ as it's abbreviation! I bet nobody else knows what it is, cause I sure didn't, but it's a silver metal! Like aluminum! Only aluminium won't melt if you pick it up and hold it like this,” she cupped her hands in front of her, “but gallium will! It's got a melting point of about 88 degrees Fahrenheit and when it's solid you can cut it with a butter knife! Isn't that neat? OH! And it can be used for electronic circuits and stuff!”

Response: Malikah did not particularly know much about the 30th element, zinc. Chemistry wasn't one of his strongest classes. Sheepishly he went to his textbook, studying the words as if it held the answer to the universe. The last thing he wanted was to look dumb in class when it came to his answer.
'Zinc is a silvery element in color. It is not super rare, as it has been documented in the ages. It has been known for a long time and is naturally occuring. All living things require zinc.'
He frowned. It wasn't a ground breaking response but honestly, what could you say that was interesting about elements? Malikah never argued with his teachers or class assignments, but this one was not one of his favorites.

Response: Californium. That was a funny name. Jane quizzically pondered the element. "It's not good to eat or touch." At least, that's what she was told toxic meant. "It can only melt at a super high hotness." She raised her brows and on her tippy toes, laid her hand flat to the highest amount that it could go. "Over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit!" Her eyes were as wide as can be. "It can't even boil!"
"It's also a part of the Actinidines group, on the F block, and it's symbol is Cf. It's density is 15.1 grams per centimeter." Whatever that meant. The teacher would know.

Response: Mags cleared her throat, her hands clasped in front of her. Telling the class about actinium was easy peasy. "Actinium, who is known as 'A' 'C' is a metal that is found in another element, uranium." her face twisted at the word. What a funny soundin' thing. "It is radio-active and is only used for research. Actinium is soft and glows blue when placed in a dark place. In the daylight it's a white-ish color." She really wanted to see this metal for herself. See how it changed color. It sounded quite excitin'. "It is solid and is found in the d block of the periodic table." She gestured towards the one displayed in front of the classroom. "Any questions?"

Response: Tirishi was looking super excited, just walking in the door. Science! He loved Science, it was his very favorite class. And when he was asked to talk about his favorite Element, he almost hopped out of his seat happily. "Ruthenium! I love Ruthenium. It's so neat! It's a really rare metal. I think what I read said it's a trans-i-shun metal? It's a Platinum group metal, so it doesn't respond to most other chemicals. It's one of the so called Noble metals! It's kind of a dark shiny grey color. I think it's super cool. I don't know much about the uses... I tried to read them but they were... really hard to understand... But Ruthenium is neat!"

Response: What was Shiva's favorite element? He thought about it for a minute, then gave a small nod. He knew what it was! "My favorite element is Cobalt. It's a metal that is a silver grey color when they get it into a purified form, though it is only rarely found on it's own. Normally it's found in a chemically combined state and they have to do something called smelting to separate it. I don't know what smelting means, though. Cobalt has a lot of uses... It's made into alloys, batteries, and a few other things. My favorite use for it, however, is as a pigment! Cobalt Blue is a really pretty color, and has been used for a reaaaaaaaaaaaally long time! It's used in glass making, and to make several shades of paint... Cobalt blue is the primary, but cobalt is also used in cerulean blue, cobalt violet and cobalt green! Cobalt makes a really pretty blue, and it's one of my favorite colors, so cobalt is my favorite element!"
Response: Wade had to give themselves credit. As much as class was boring, at least getting through everything was going well. Coming into science class, they leaned on their palm, Wade's chin resting there. The assignment didn't sound too hard...but it also sounded boring! Yawning, Wade slid out of his chair and went to get a textbook. Flipping it open at random, he selected the entry at random.
The 49th element Indium happened to be the page his gaze fell on. Indium is a chemical element with symbol In and atomic number 49. It is a post-transition metal that makes up 0.21 parts per million of the world's crust. It was discovered in 1863. Groaning Wade laid on his side staring at the page. He had to get all this written down... and turn it in uggghhh.

The mysteries of death did not bother the young freshling. She had observed a dead bug on her way to class and had crouched down to study it. Science class was a curious way to study life, and was a fun subject she decided with a quiet smile. Today, however, they were learning about the periodic elements. Listening quietly to her teacher, the small freshling quietly opened up her book to pick something, taking childishly written notes to share with the class when it was time.
"Nitrogen is important to the chemical industry. It is used to make fertilizers, nitric acid, nylon, dyes, and explosives. It is a colorless, odorless gas. This is represented by the wheat sheaf symbol and lightning. It reflects the importance of nitrogen to living things. Nitrogen is important for plant growth and can be ‘fixed’ by lightning or added to soils in fertilizers."
Having just hung out with her friend during lunch, Meadow was ready for class to be done with so she could go back to hanging out with Augustus. The usually quiet hybrid had a small smile on her face, although it vanished as she went to her desk and listened to the teacher. Nodding her head, she reached for the assignment book. Scanning the pages, she found one that seemed interesting.
When it came time to share...her voice was soft spoken, one had to lean in to hear her, however, she shared her findings all the same. Behind the veil of her bangs, her gaze flickered around to those present. When the teacher called on her, she decided to just get it over with. Squinting at the page she was reading, she read aloud.
"Arsenic, atomic number 33 lies in between phosphorus and antimony in group 15, the so-called Nitrogen group of the periodic table. ... The exact members of the group are open to debate but arsenic is always a member..."

Response: #53 - Iodine
"Iodine is the fifty-third element. Its a heavy stable hal-ogen, er, the most heavy stable hal-ogen. It's a shiny purple-black solid that sublimes into a gas?" Hikito didn't know what half the words were, but that was what the book told him. The picture sure didn't look shiny purple black. It just looked shiny and black. Frowning, the hybrid plopped back into his seat. What did sublimes mean? How did something that was all black and shiny when it was solid become purple when it was a gas. None of that made sense! Hikito looked up at the teacher, raising his hand. Since he didn't know what that was, maybe she would.

Response: #114 - Flerovium
Kanda would be the first to admit that science was not her strong suite. There were so many new terms to learn and they were all spelled so oddly. It was no wonder she had difficulties with the class. Instead of trying to sign this one, most of which would have to be fingerspelled and would be ignored by her classmates, she took the time to write, as neatly as she could, about the element instead.
'Element number 114 is Flerovium, a superheavy nightmare-made element. It's super radioactuve and synthetic. (I looked that up, and that means it's made to mimic something in nature.
All the other stuff about flerovium was pretty confusing and she didn't want to get mixed up, so she just kept it those few sentences. Maybe when she got a bit older, she could ask better questions about all this science stuff.

Response: #19 - Potassium
"Potassium, the nineteenth element on the periodic table! Elemental potassium is a soft silvery-white alkali metal that oxidizes rapidly in air and reacts vigorously with water. The lilac-colored flame that reaction produces is caused by the heat produced igniting the hydrogen that is emitted. It's found dissolved in sea water and is part of many minerals. It was first isolated from potash, or plant ashes, which is how it got its' name!" Isabelle stood straight and spoke clearly so that everyone could understand. Her element had thankfully been pretty easy and she was able to learn some neat facts about it. After all, she knew that her body needed the potassium found in food, and had thought that that was what she'd end up talking about. Instead, she'd learned about lilac-colored fire and that it burned in water! How cool was that?

Response: #101 - Mendelevium
"Mendelevium is a synthetic element with chemical symbol Md (formerly Mv) and atomic number 101. A metallic radioactive transuranic element in the actinide series, it is the first element that currently cannot be produced in macroscopic quantities through neutron bombardment of lighter elements. It can only be produced in particle accelerators by bombarding lighter elements with charged particles." Pepper read aloud the definition of the element she'd gotten stuck with. The nixie ahead of her had gotten an easy one: potassium. She'd even had some interesting facts about it! Why couldn't she have gotten something more interesting? But noooo, she'd gotten stuck with some nightmare-made chemical that she didn't even know the use for. Upset at the fact that she'd gotten something stupid to do, she'd just copied down the basics from a website and been done with it.
