Rota handed the Mysterious Carved Sphere off to Alyx for him to examine while they talked. Rota had found roughly ten good quality chunks from the debris that he had flaked off so far, he just ha no idea what it was used for yet. "I found the orb while working in my makeshift mineshaft. if you hold it, you'll start to hear a hum. Hold it closer and closer to one of your ears, and it'll get deafening until all you hear is the calm hum of this." he accented the end of that sentence with another strike of his pickaxe. "I've never seen anything like this before. To be honest, I didn't know what the melancholy cry of the orb would lead me to, which is 1/4th of why I asked to you to join me. the other 3/4ths are joining in whatever mysterious boon this may or may not bring."

Alyx looked at the small orb and turned it over in his hand. He wondered if it was anything like the thing he'd picked up from the creature he'd found while gathering wood... Maybe that was a theme. Gathering quests, to help break up the monotony of the harvesting skills. He held the little orb up to his ear and winced as everything went metal. "I see what you mean." although he did not even hear his own voice. He handed the orb back to Rota as the sound began to fade and the real world returned. The Gloomking reached into his own inventory and pulled out the grisly trophy he had claimed from the creature in the woods. "This world is a curious one." He felt the soft, warm hum of the heart in his palm. "Either way, I appreciate you bringing me along. It's always a good idea to have backup."

Rota took back the orb, and went back to counting his current total of quality stone. He was up to 20. Not a bad number so far. He nodded in acknowledgement as he continued on the task of making the large rock into smaller rocks. "After seeing a deer turn into a slavering hellbeast, I am done taking enormous risks alone. Not knowing what may or may not come after this, and if there will be hostility involved was enough to keep me from tackling this right when I found the orb." Rota thought back to the Rage deer, and a shudder went up his spine. That was not a fun sight to behold.

Alyx nodded with a chuckle. "Yeah, that's one of the things about this place; nothing is innocent, and everything is dangerous. You can't ever be too careful." Alyx pocketed the heart and looked at the work Rota was doing. He couldn't be entirely certain, but he felt that he was starting to see something take shape. He held his silence and waited, though, for Rota to finish his task. It was better to wait and see results than to talk and never get to the actual point.

Rota nodded as he counted his newest additions to the pile. He was too engrossed with the duty of mining to notice anything odd about the surface he was extracting from. 5 quality pieces was a stiff drop off, but he was at least gaining something each time. He wasn't about to take things for granted now. "I'm just waiting for the day when a bunny decides it wants to eviscerate me. That...won't be fun to see. The deer was enough of a horror as is, I don't need to see something even MORE innocent looking become savage by my hand."

Alyx smiled and thought about it. He could imagine only cult culture references as for a terrifying bunny rabbit. But in this system, who knows? It could be ten feet tall with shoulder-mounted laser cannons for all he knew. These people's imaginations were crazy sometimes.

Rota continued going to work, and chipping away at the would-be monolith. He was back to the previous marked standard, which was nice, and he wondered just how much more stone he could really get from this thing. How long was the orb expecting him to pick for? These were answers he wished he had, but there was no way to know until the task was done. All he could do was take in the ambiance and continue on with the task at hand.

Alyx watched Rota work. He wondered where all of this was going, and how much longer that stone could hold up to this sort of punishment. There was nothing to do but wait, though. And so Alyx used the time he had to scroll through his items and skills, just to make sure he was remembering everything.

5/5 gathers 40 mysterious stone collected
Rota counted out the latest spoils from his excavation. he was at 40 quality pieces. While that SEEMED like a fair amount, Rota felt like he could use some more. however, when he brought his pick back up to continue, the orb let out a shriek inside his mind, disorienting him and causing him to drop his pick."Ughhh...I think the orb doesn't want me to extract any more stone." his cranium was still ringing from that experience. He held his head in his right hand as he looked at what his handiwork had done.

Alyx watches the God's Die reform into a small sort of creature; a golem, complete with a grin that could grind your bones to powder. It was cute, in a strange, ugly sort of way, and that was almost at odds with this world. But that's alright. He waited for Rota to read through his reward prompts. "Is that what we came here for? Who's this little guy?"

As you raise your pick to make another strike, the stone begins to glow and change before your eyes. The large cube dissolves and reforms into a small sort of egg shape, made of a dark gray sort of metal. It is about a foot tall, and carved with intricate runes that cover its surface seamlessly. As you wonder what this might be, the egg begins to move.
Slowly, at first, it begins to shiver and quake. Soon, it is positively rocking in place, and it begins to crack, along several smooth lines. The egg breaks open and begins to rearrange itself into a new shape.
What is left is a small, three foot tall, brutish-looking golem, made of intricately engraved metal, with eyes like liquid mercury. It looks up to you and smiles with a mouth composed of hundreds of metal teeth, made apparently for grinding. In its chest is a small orb, similar to the one you found before, but not quite the same size, being a little smaller.
The second Rota saw the small Golem, his eyes lit up. It was not only adorable, but just the way the metal moved was intriguing to him. Maybe he could find out how these little guys worked through study, and maybe one day make his own. For now however, The golem was pointing to the carved orb, almost pleadingly. "Seems like Little One here not only likes me, but wants the orb." Rota knelt down and placed the orb in his tiny, yet firm hands. as soon as he had, the golem Rota had decided to name 'Little One' had started ambling off towards the Mountain where the orb was found. Rota looked back at Alyx briefly. "I can't let him go off on his own now, I think there's a lot more to this." and Rota started following Little One towards the mountain, wondering just what he had in store for him.

Alyx chuckled as the creature began to walk off on his own. "Yeah, we can't let it just run off." He began following Rota and the golem, keeping his ears and eyes open for any unwelcome surprises. This had all been going far too easily for Alyx' liking.

Rota followed along closely, and after a while of travel he watched as Little One walked fearlessly into the mouth of the cave of the gloom spiders. The Demon looked back at Alyx. "Are you ready to delve back into your throne room?" Rota's trusty sword was shouldered and he had a fire in his eyes. he knew in his heart that the spiders could not harm Little One...but there were too many unknowns to the situation.

He thought for a moment, but decided that with their current levels and loot that they could take the Gloomweave Queen just fine, if that's where they were going. What came after, he knew not, but he did have a quest to kill her, so if that's what they were doing, they could certainly get that done. Alyx pulled his sword as they entered the mouth of the cave and four spiders crawled out of the woodwork to meet them. He raised his blade and it began to shine brightly in the low light, illuminating the cave and scattering shadows across the stone. He aimed for the one closest to him (1).
