Shik found himself . . . in yet another maze. Thankfully not one that was particularly confusing looking, although the moment he left the first room, the door didn't seem to stay behind him.
There was a green pool for him to start quenching his thirst on, the ominous words on the door more than enough instruction for him. He felt rejuvenated as he drank, though he was sad to see his carefully cultivated wildman facial hair go away. Still, he looked damn good.

The next one looked . . . tainted. Shik frowned at it for a while before he gave it a try, and then immediately backed away, sputtering. Too late.
It wasn't that it had a bad taste, but . . . His mind felt more clouded. Maybe he ought to get that checked out.

And then in seconds he decided it was a good idea to drink more from the water. You know, to help clear himself up. Shik even splashed some on his face in hopes it helped.
It didn't. Damn. But at least he didn't have to worry about his face melting off from the heat, that was a welcome safety precaution.

Okay, enough of that one . . . What would people think of him if he drank too much of it after all? That he was fancy was what, of course. He had to stay on the level of the common people of course.
Which was why the red pool's effects were so appealing: he was older! more respectable! Shik stroked the return of his facial hair and then some, humming importantly to himself.

This purple would do quite nicely. Yes. Hrm hrm.
Shik continued to stroke his beard very importantly as he sipped, trying to be as clean about it as possible. A relazing feeling came over him as he licked his lips, and for a moment he considered staying. But then again, he did need to keep going . . .
The door appeared and made the decision for him. Waving the pool goodbye, he strode on through with his chin up, feelingn quite accomplished.
