hitting and kicking didn't seem to be doing much damage to the shade. Umi kept at it while she thought of another erm of attack.

They rolled across the floor for a few short moments, narrowly avoiding the other students' own spars. He bit and clawed at the shade as much as one could bite and claw at something that wasn't entirely physical, finally separating from it with a glare.

"You can't beat me! You're not even real! Mostly!" Yeah, that would show it.

He punctuated his insult with a punch right through the shade's head. Face. Top area.

A frown found its way onto Julian's face and he shook his head.
"Ah, I'm going to War next," he replied, noting how upset she seemed to be. She was looking away again and fiddling with her necklace and didn't seem like she could get a full sentence out. It reminded him of Tahki when she was flustered.
Thinking about it further, this ghoul reminded him a lot of his gryphon friend. Only Lumi was more... ghouly than Tahki was. Tahki was such a nerd, just like him and she always dressed sort of boilishly. Definitely not ghouly like Sin and Alcie dressed. But then, maybe it was a demoness thing.

"We can talk after class, I don't mind."

The shade didn't take very kindly to the insults about his questionable reality. It lunged towards his knees, hooking around one of his legs in an attempt to pull him back to the ground. Of course, it wasn't very effective - though its shadowy claws did scrape at him through his pants leg, it couldn't quite manage to throw him off balance as intended.

Annoyed, and hoping that there had been no permanent damage done to his clothing, he reached down to forcefully pull it off of him, tossing it against the floor.

Thackery stared down at the quivering shade as it fought to get back up, daring it to come after him again. In the meantime, he made faces at it, which wasn't the best combat tactic, as it turned out.

The shade seemed even more infuriated at this round of taunting, flinging itself at the Cerberus with an angry hiss. With a little yelp of surprise, he retaliated with a few of his own blows, far more clumsy than his other attacks.

"Augh, get off me, get off me!" he insisted, tugging at the shade. It was more relentless this time, clinging to him with all of its might.

Umi started to take up what ever she could find around the room and remembered that she had brought her umbella with her. She took her Umbella and gave the shade on good whack on the head.

Just when it seemed as if Thackery was going to have to live out his days with an angry shade attached to him, he recalled the property of the ruby - devotion, wasn't it?

As if on cue, the shade released him and stared up at him with wide, dark eyes. Waiting.

Thackery thumped it in the nose region.

The thump seemed to shake the shade out of the charmed state. Babbling some sort of incoherent angry nonsense, it hopped up onto one of the seats, reaching up to thump him back.

"Oh, okay, we're gonna do this."

Thackery gave it another spiteful flick to the face.

The battling student and shade likely looked more than a little silly, wrapped up in their petty exchange. It was a flurry of pinches and pokes and smacks, and though each 'attack' was terribly inconsequential, it seemed that they were adding up. Thackery was beginning to feel the wear, and the shade was certainly slowing down.

At the sound of one of his fellow shades disappearing at the hand of Ylaria, the shade versus Thackery turned its back for just a moment. And that was such a terrible mistake. He yanked the shade off of its perch, sending it tumbling to the ground, crouched...

...and gave it a nice, good stomp.

He laughed in satisfaction as it disappeared beneath his feet with a wailing whisper.

"And that's what you get for taking on a Cerberus Brother who's wearing shiny things. Dumbest thing ever. Duh."

Her umberlla was like a weapon to her. she used it when she didn't use her magic, which was like always. She kept on whacking and using her leg to kick at the shade
