While Herryk could understand the merits of having a bit of protection between himself and an opponent, he was more than ready to just... get back into combat. Despite this, the draugr slowly collected a few materials before arranging them around his dirt mound.

A few long, broad stones were placed along the base of his fort. Above those he placed a large smattering of pointed sticks before he threw out a handful of sharp pinecones.

And then he waited.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD - IN YOUR FACE.

As the mannequin was released, Herryk leapt back and watched as it careened into his fort. It disintegrated the fort itself, but the mannequin was not left undamaged. Pointed sticks had dug in, and Herryk was quite pleased by the effect.

Scooping up his sword and hefting the weight of it in his palm, Herryk moved in for some close combat.

Okay. She could build. Maybe. She hadn't done it very much, but she did know she could at least give it a good shot, given what sorts of things she'd been finding out in the greenery on her last ventures out there.

Never the less, she tried to be as vigilant as she could be as she went running about to get building. The digging was the easy part - she was a dog. She knew how to dig a hole or two or twelve. She wouldn't have admitted to that skill, but she did have it. Just like she had the ability to be horrendously distracted by squirrels.

Good thing there weren't squirrels there, but - STICKS!! Inner canine senses tingled galore as she immediately picked up the sticks she found, burying them into the ground as a sort of..pokey....thing...that would ward off..
something.

Maybe.

Hmm.

She found quote a few painful vines (ow her fingers) wrap around her building as well, finishing it off with some stones.

There.

All protected.

"...."

Shehk bit her lower lip. She actually wasn't sure if her handiwork made her feel safe or not.

It was their final day of class. Shun listened carefully as Cybele instructed them on what they were to do today. It sounded simple enough. They were to create a fort of some sort and defend themselves from an oncoming onslaught. Once they were released, he rushed out into the woods to find supplies, as well as a spot to bunker down in. While he was foraging for things to use, he managed to grab himself two pine cones, as well as two and thorny strong vines.

With everything in hand, he began to dig out a trench and set things up. He worked hard to make sure everything was in place. In front of his little fort, he set out the pinecones. In a sense, they were some sort of makeshift caltrops. Real caltrops would have been better of course, but he had to make due with what he had. Past the pinecones, he set up the vines, hoping to entangle the attacking mannequin to an extent. It probably wouldn't hold it off for long, but having to struggle out of the thorns should deal a fair amount of damage regardless.

Once he was done, he let out a breath, gripping onto his dagger. While he waited for the attack to begin, he closed his eye and began to clear his mind. It wouldn't be long before the battle was to start.

Kemnebi grabbed up a sword and ran to one of the mounds, digging her fort as quickly as she could. Having finished that, she looked for some extra defenses. The girl found two vines which she draped around the walls, pine cones that she pressed into the dirt walls where there were gaps in the vines, and littered the ground in front of her fort with sharp rocks.

Perfect. She got into her fort and swung the sword, wanting to get used to it since she missed class yesterday. Centering herself, she waited, ready for the mannequin to attack.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD - IN YOUR FACE.

Excellent. Herryk dove towards the mannequin, sinking his sword deep into its chest-area. The blade was working with him today as opposed to against him, and Herryk was feeling a rush of exhilaration as he withdrew his blade, stepping back a few feet before moving in for his next attack.

As he paused and took in the sight of his lifeless opponent, Herryk had to give a wolfish grin. He was feeling so much more adept at wielding the blade today than he had been yesterday.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.

She settled in. Waiting. Danger was coming and she knew it was and somehow she couldn't get her mind off of it.

She especially couldn't get her mind off of it when the dummy suddenly came crashing through her fort, impaling itself upon her handiwork - and with just enough time to let her step back to avoid it striking her. Still, it looked like her fortress had been at least somewhat painful.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD - IN YOUR FACE.

As he swung at the mannequin once more, Herryk slipped on a piece of rubble that had fallen loose from his fort. His blade slipped uselessly from his hand as he toppled over, landing on his side with a grunt.

It was a good thing he'd fallen, or else he would have caught some mannequin to the face. With a growl he rose back to his feet, dusted himself off and bent once more to retrieve his weapon.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD - IN YOUR FACE.

Slashing forward once more, Herryk brought the blade across his body in a swift downward motion. It caught, sinking deep into the angle where shoulder meets neck. The blade sank deep, and Herryk was pleased by the outcome. Yes, while the blade was not nearly heavy enough for his liking, it was quite an effective weapon.

Herryk growled softly to himself as he ripped the blade free, a feral, wolfish smile tilting his lips.

When it struck out again, Shehk nearly tripped over her own fortress's remains, making a face while she moved to attack only to get smashed in the shoulder by the thing, causing her to reel back, hissing as she clipped it with her dagger.

With her initial flub up corrected, however, Shehk was able to step in this time and get in another small (sigh) hit before she moved to get away from the dummy's counter assault.

((Entering Day Four))

The fourth day found Alexander back in a clearing in the forest, down on the ground where a zombie was rightfully meant to be. The ground beneath his feet was quite unlike the normal underbrush of vines, plants, grass and moss of the jungle, however, the earth all overturned as though he were standing on a fresh burial plot. He didn't have much time to contemplate the meaning behind this however, when the horsewoman began to speak.

Like all of the days past, Alex couldn't help but be completely enraptured by the teachers voice, ready to listen to and do whatever it is she told him without question. Today was to be the final lesson, and he wanted to do her proud, even if these were only 'children's lessons' as she so often reminded them. There were still lessons to be learned here, even if she treated them as though they were inferior for not knowing them sooner. This might be a lesson for children but Alex was determined show Cybele that he was not a child, not a scareling to be defeated by a mere mannequin that had been brought to some form of life. He was a denizen of Halloween, a student of the prestigious Amityville academy, a young adult who could and would do himself proud, even if it meant little or nothing to the horsemen of war.

After listening to the instructions carefully, Alexander got to work. It was a lot like one of his computer games, where he had to build a structure and defend it against an enemy. He needed to find materials to fortify his defense. Fine, he could do that easily, but first, he needed to dig, and it appeared they would be given no tools to help them. That was fine with Alex, who was most definitely not afraid to get a little dirty. He got down on his knee's and began, shoveling dirt with his large hands and creating a barrier around himself with which to defend behind. He then stood up, carefully making his way out and heading off into the tree's to find some materials to fortify the structure.

He knew he had to work quickly, that time was really of the essence in this particular situation. He needed to put some thought into this, though, and refused to just slap together something that might fall apart under the lightest of attacks. And so, it did end up taking possibly a little longer then it should have, but he first found himself a tangle of thorny vines, which he carefully untangled, getting his fingers pricked and stabbed several times in the process. He wasn't really quite sure how much to take, but he started wrapping it up in neat coil that he could sling over his arm, snapping the vine off when he felt he had a sufficient amount.

As he began to make his way back, he caught sight of some sharp and pointy sticks just lying on the ground. He had images in his head of what he might be able to do with those so he gathered them up as well, tucking them under the same arm that the carried the vine with.

He was nearly back to the clearing when he stepped on something that sent a jolt of pain up his fleshy foot, and he hopped backwards, staring at the ground with a frown. Pinecones? Well, they had certainly stopped him in his tracks! Bending down, he reached forward to gather as many as he could, though he was quickly becoming laden down with far too many things. He would have to make due with what he had.

And so Alex returned to the clearing, dumping his supplies in front of his make shift barrier, and began doing what needed to be done. First, he unraveled his thorny vines, wrapping them around and around until the barrier was thick with sharp edges. Then, he picked up his sticks, and stabbed them into the front of his dirt pile, making a line of them that jutted out with their sharp ends pointing to where the enemy should come from. Lastly, he sprinkled the ground with the prickly pine cones, then stood back to admire his work. It wasn't exactly pretty, but it was going to have to do.

The last thing he needed was his weapon, so he shambled over towards the rack, picking out the bow that he had used the day before, the object not feeling quite so foreign in his hands as it had before, and a quiver of arrows that was sitting on the ground. Before taking them back, he decided to inspect each fletching, making sure they were all in good condition before retreating hurriedly back to his wall and small trench.

He turned towards the teacher and gave her a grim nod, one that said simply this: I am ready.

Okay. She was getting to be really good at avoiding it hitting her, but it was going to keep striking out at her if she didn't actually hit it back as hard as it was dishing out. Undead made it fortunate she wouldn't wear down as quickly...

Still.

She would have liked this to be a quick exchange.

YOU HAVE MY SWORD - IN YOUR FACE.
The mannequin slammed into her fort, breaking through it quickly, but not without price. Her defenses had done quite a bit of damage to her opponent. Nebi lifted and readied her sword. Swinging the weapon, Nebi missed her first stroke, cursing herself for missing yesterday's lesson as the mannequin connected it's huge fist with her face, knocking her to the ground.
