This in no way shape or form was 'bright and early'. Because for that to happen it would, ya know, need to be bright out. Obviously Imryn was not happy with the rude awakening this morning, but said nothing and just grumbled quietly to herself as she joined the others out in the classroom area. She was trying hard to smother a few yawns while listening to their teachers describe what their task would be that day, but was quickly losing that battle.
So... mounts huh? She had a bad feeling that this was not going to go as well as the previous day, and picking up a chunk of rope, Imryn headed out into to look for something that might do. Nothing seemed to be turning up so far however, but she hadn't been expecting to find anything just yet. With most of the other students out and about by now, she figured that they had either run off somewhere or been snatched up.

And then the tarantula made a sudden step forward, jarring him back into reality as he reacted with a step back, hands crackling with energy. It was still amused regardless, shorter legs rubbing together almost deviously.

No, Jackdammit! No, he was not going to back down! Concentrating his FEAR, Mort stepped forward and watched as the spider's hairs stiffened on its Jackdamned legs. He was tired of this jungle and chasing after things and tripping and plants, and the arachnid was going to know it.

And then the tarantula went LOLNOPE and ran away because apparently zombies weren't good enough for it. Once again, Mortimer was a sad panda.

Poking around in some of the underbrush, Imryn was off on the search once again for that mount of legend... and once again came up empty handed. Well dang.

She was starting to get a tad bit frustrated at this point. There hadn't even been a small peep of something that she might have been able to use for a mount, but she still continued the search.
Though suddenly there was a noise coming from above, making her jump and whip her head around to look for where it was coming from. Up in one of the trees there were two yellow eyes peering down at her that belong to a... goat? It was a bit confusing to the ghoul as to how a goat could have gotten up into a tree. It didn't appear to have any wings, though maybe levitation...? Either way, it was giving her the creeps, and slowly began to back away to go look for something else.

Mort was growing very, very frustrated now, to the point that even when he encountered a mountain goat, he didn't question how it got there. No, all he thought was "new chance, different mount, and hopefully more agreeable".

And sure, it stood there chewing the grass like a boss. But Mort began exuding his aura of concentrated FEAR on it anyway, because he no longer trusted these jungle critters. Especially ones with more legs than he had.

The second time Mort tried to do it, however, the goat jerked its head to face him and glowered. Suddenly those horns looked rather . . . pointy. Mort was forcibly reminded of Hel's spear going through his stomach during that one battle. You know what, he decided, this had to be a chick then. Even chicks had horns, right?

The standoff continued: horns versus electricity, fur against flesh, man against animal, zombie versus his growing impatience against these dumb animals. This was seriously why he never went outside - technology was so much more obedient, he swore.

And then the goat gave him a look that said GTFO, and Mort obeyed - because the last thing he wanted was to get impaled again, regardless of the goat's gender. And thus Sad Panda!Mort's adventures continued . . .

Imryn was feeling a little on edge after the creepy goat run in... I mean really, how the heck did the goat get in the tree in the first place? Being quite distracted thinking about the previous run in, before long she ended up running into another one. It took her a moment to pull herself together after tripping over the shell of the tortoise, arching a brow with a little shake of her head. Oh for Jacks sake... wasn't there anything around here that looked like you were supposed to ride it? This really didn't look like it would move very well, so Imryn left the creature where it was.

For all his tromping in the undergrowth, you'd think he would have been caught sooner. Well this time Mort's sorry figure was spotted by a rather curious wolf, and a howl from behind made him jump slightly.
