Shikari smiled, just a little. The compliment made her feel a bit better, and she knew it was true. "Thank you, Cha'Time." She turned to Shina. "Thanks, Shina. These'll be perfect. Now...eh...could you just direct me to the cooking pots? And did we bring any drinking water, or should I use the stream water?" Gathering Chiyo carefully into her arms, she prepared to follow Shina.

"It looks like there is a kettle in the coals, we can make tea with that water," Shina told Shikari as she led her with a hand on the blind girl's shoulder. As promised by the trainer earlier, the bowls were washed and neatly stacked, ready for use in the morning. The fish stew had finally run out, and the pot had been washed and set to the side of the fire. The fire was low, but a large fallen tree limb was smoldering in the center, looking like it would burn all night and into the morning. "Why don't you just focus on your Blitzle, I can make a basic berry mash for her. Do you want me to add some oats to it for her, or do you want me to make it thin so you can get some liquids into her?" Shina asked.

"Real thin, please. I think she'll need the fluids most, and it's going to be a trick getting her to swallow anything the way she is now. OH!" Shikari snapped her fingers. "I have an idea. I need a reed or something of that nature. You know, nontoxic, with a hollow stem?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:55 am

"Sure. Here, let me get the berries started, then I'll get you something." Shina grabbed one of the bowls, and quickly crushed a berry into a paste. Adding water from the kettle, she mixed it until the berry was as incorporated as it was going to get.

"Okay, bowl of pulped berry and water is here," she said, setting the bowl next to Shikari and guiding her hand to it. For a reed, Shina pulled out a tube a bit thicker than her thumb and about six inches long, with a mesh screen over one end. Twisting, she pulled the screen off the end.

"Here, it's a straw. Remind me to give you an intact one later. If you ever need to drink from still water, always use one of these straws with mesh on the end. It filters out some of the nastier things you can get from standing water, like parasites. You can still end up with other problems though, so try to go for running water if you can, or boiled if you must use still water," Shina advised.

"Oh, terrific, thank you!" Shikari knelt on her borrowed sleeping bag - she could tell where it was because she'd stepped on a corner on the way over, noticing it was softer than the rest of the ground - and laid Chiyo on it, covering her up about halfway. Then she got comfortable and, using her lap to hold the little Blitzle's head up some, worked on getting the straw in the right place. Horses breathe exclusively from their noses, so there wasn't much chance of choking her. Shikari poured the berry mush from the bowl, just a teensy bit at a time, down the straw - probably getting more on herself than in her charge, but the amount was probably about right for a creature that hadn't eaten much lately. "There," she said quietly, sounding satisfied. "That should do it for tonight." She handed the bowl back, feeling extremely grateful that Shina was so nice. Slipping into her sleeping bag, she gently held the Blitzle close to her, letting Chiyo feel the warmth of her body. "Good night," she said, though she was fully aware she might not sleep much for a while with a sick pokemon to look after.

"You're welcome, Shikari. It's going to be an early morning, so I'm going back to sleep now. Feel free to wake me if you need anything though, I won't mind," Shina told the other girl as she snuggled back into her own bedroll. Tenka still wasn't back yet, but Shina suspected he'd be back by morning for breakfast. Annabell quickly squirmed back inside Shina's sleeping bag, while Rasha laid down right next to the sleeping bag, close enough for her warmth to spill over Shina. Shina's eyes grew heavy, and she slipped into sleep.

((Hey everyone, it is now morning after the first night of camping!))
Shina woke to the singing of bird-types in the early grey of predawn. Somehow, despite the eventful night before, she felt well-rested. Must have been from actually sleeping in a bed the night before last, she decided. Leaving Annabell to curl into a ball within the warmth of her sleeping bag, Shina rose and stretched. Quietly, she set oats, berries, and water to cooking above the still slow burning fire, knowing it would take a while for the oats to reach edible consistency, as they weren't the quick oats most city folk were used to. Breakfast preparations taken care of, and the sun still not up, Shina slipped out of camp, heading into the thicker river forest to the north. She wouldn't want to wake the caravan with her morning workout.

Some time later, sun now above the horizon and muscles warm and loose, Shina made her way back to camp, happy to have made a new friend. Another trainer had taken over tending to the oatmeal, and several other early risers had bowls of the food in their laps. Shina scooped out a portion for herself, and another for Rasha. While the night time meal was good for omnivores, this mash would be attractive to the grazers as well.

Glancing over at her saddlebags, Shina blinked. Tenka was back, and was determindly re-arranging one of the saddlebags. That one had originally held the blanket she kept out of pokeball, along with a number of other things. Tenka had dug out many of the supplies, and stuffed the rest all the way down in the bottom of the bag, with the blanket on top. Looking closer, Shina saw berries and nuts tucked into one corner of the bag. When Shina tried to reach into the saddlebag, where Tenka was turning in circles, pushing the blanket around, he actually growled at her, a drawn out, aggressive "Gaaaaaaa!" Shina shook her head, gathered the items that had been ousted from the saddlebag, and rearranged the other saddlebag to fit everything, tucking a few additional items away in their item balls when necessary. If Tenka wanted to take over that saddlebag so badly, Shina would let him, at least for now.

((DJ, I'm thinking we don't know how long it will be until our babies get colored and sent to us, so Tenka is making a nest in one of Shina's saddlebags. That way they can nest, but still keep up with the group. I figure either Maya can have the eggs there, or they can disappear another night into the forest and come back with babies, or whatever. Hope this works for you!))

"Wow, what a ruckus," Shikari mumbled, wishing she was still asleep. She'd woken up what seemed every other minute to check on her little one, and her eyelids were heavy. It wasn't THAT much noise, really, but it sure felt like it. "What's going on?....Oh. Food." Her sense of smell had finally kicked in. She slid out of her sleeping bag, being cautious to leave Chiyo covered. "Guess 'd best get hers first. Do you think I should try thinning some of that oatmeal?"

Heal had slept under a thick blanket with his luxio curled up right against him for warmth, the healer in training gave a groggy noise as the level of silence in the camp seemed to drop to non existence. He sleepily grabbed around, his half unconscious mind, he accidently grabbed Tripod's tail and pulled, getting a rather nasty electrical attack from the stratled pokemon.
"YeeeoW!" He leaped up and looked around startled before turning eyes towards the three legged pokemon. "...evil..."

"Luuuuux..." Tripod meowed giving him a look while curling his tail about himself.

"...Yes, but still evil" He massaged his hand. "...Thought..still better then an energy drink...."

"xio?"

"No, it doesn't mean I want to do that every morning...don't you dare."

(@nashi: that's fine, im fine with whatever ^^)

Flint hadn't bothered with a tent and had instead curled up next to rush with a blanket. He sat up groggily and looked around, stifling a yawn he stood up and made his way to the food and took several bowls, for himself Lorelai and Rush. he made his way back to his Pokemon and sat down. Carefully he woke the two and set the bowls in front of them. For Maya he pulled a handful of nuts and berries from his bag and offered them to her. She trilled happily and hastily ate her fill. Once finished eating, Maya scurried over to where Tenka was re-arranging the bag, watching him with mild interest.

Cha'Time stood and yawned, he had returned to his own campsite a little ways away from the caravan. After sharing a small breakfast of bread and fruit with Kwatoko he set to work packing up his campsite and made his way back to the caravan.

"Well, everything in the oatmeal should be appealing to a Blitzle, Shikari," Shina said. "She would probably like it."

Tenka made one last circle, determining that the nest was as comfortable as he could make it. He exited the saddlebag, and looked at Maya shyly. "" he told her, tail fluffed a bit.

"OK." It took her a moment to find it, waving her hand around slowly to zero in on the heat without burning herself. She took some in a bowl (that she hoped was clean - it FELT clean...) and stirred some water in it, setting herself up the way she had the night before. "Alright, Chiyo," she said lovingly, coaxingly. "Let's get this down you." The little zebralike critter didn't respond, except that Shikari felt a slight crackle like before from electricity. She couldn't help but think that Chiyo was reaching out to her with those tiny zaps, weak and unfocused as they were. She massaged the pokemon gently in response.
It took a little bit longer than before to get the oatmeal down Chiyo's throat. It was as if the battered pokemon was unwilling to swallow, as opposed to simply passive before. "What's the matter?" Shikari was almost startled by a slight shift she felt in Chiyo's muscles. It only lasted a moment, but for that instant a little life had shown itself. She held the Blitzle close, almost crying. You ARE in there...

Shina paused, then dug around in her bag. After a moment, she pulled out a soft-bristled handleless brush and a rectangle of terrycloth. "Here, Shikari. I don't think Chiyo is ready for a real combing, but a careful job with a body brush and grooming rag might feel nice. If you'd like, I'm sure Rasha would let you practice on her first." Rash had perked up at the sight of the grooming tools, and whuffled out a happy noise.

"I'd better take the moment while I have it," Shikari replied. "Thank you." She started at Chiyo's shoulder, slowly and carefully working back towards her rump. She couldn't see it, as but chunks of old hair and dirt were worked out, she could feel the fur becoming softer. She sat and worked on it for a while, determined to attend until everyone was ready to go.

Alone. He never paid much attention to the word unless he thought about his past. However, the word was very related to what he was currently experiencing: a long walk to try and catch up to a caravan. It had been an entire night that he had crept through the darkness. Now, he could see the sun beating down on him and his robe. It was almost a little too much to bear, to be honest. Why was he outside with such a thick robe? God only knew. The only problem was that he had it on, and that was currently the only thing that he could think about. As he moved, he began to think. Yesterday, he was told by a Nurse Joy at the local Pokemon in Katarina that a carvan had passed by. A caravan? He couldn't help but want to join... But the caravan had already left without him. So, what was the logical thing to do? Not trying to run for it and catch up to it while he still could, but that's exactly what Charlie tried to do.

With caravans, there was always sickness of some sort. Being the traveling medic that he was, he didn't mind trying to catch up to the caravan. However, maybe he had alternate intentions with the caravan. Maybe he wanted to be a part of something new. He had just begun to build roots in the region for once. All of these places that he wanted to go but wasn't able to... Well, he'd have to change that. A steady night of planning, of rest, and a small time of camping, and he should be caught up with them. And, guess what? He was. Walking through the day time, his eyes with heavy bags under his eyes out of tiredness(which he was used to by this point), he began to walk towards a new site. A camp that was being uprooted and moved, it seemed. Upon closer inspection, Charlie noticed some crucial details.

The caravan was, obviously, the biggest feature of the camp. It sat near to it, which caused Charlie to smile and begin to run in his heavy robe, almost making him trip a couple of times, "Hey there! Do you need some help?" He offered, panting a couple of seconds, staring over at the group, "Sorry, I was trying to catch up to you guys. Heard there was a caravan out this way."
