"N-no no of course not!" she waved her hands frantically.' Stupid cat instincts...' She dropped her hands to her lap and turned her gaze to her tail which had between twisting around her Master's of its own accord. She grabbed her tail and held it down, more heat rising to her cheeks.

Leiko kept on flying, until she reached the second floor, still calling away. She'd surprised a few random people, causing her to giggle as she flew along the second floor.

"Kromli! Kromli!"

((Sorry about the delay. There are some minor sleep-issues and the resulting state of mind that caused it.))

Having grown up in a poor family, Kromli quickly learned to put his mind at ease by putting his hands to work which was one of the things that made it difficult to live with Matasoga... There was never really any work that needed to be done. With all of his followers, slaves, and servants, there was never really any work that needed doing.
Once he had even offered to take over restroom detail from one of the lower-rung employees but when Matasoga entered the room only to find his highest level lieutenant holding a mop, he was not pleased. He told him that doing such a job, considering his rank, brought considerable shame to both of them, and he was never to do it again.
This left Kromli in a bit of a bind. He'd already polished all of the candelabras, his weapons, and even made sure that the gargoyles on the roof were clean. There was nothing else to clean on the roof, for it was higher than any of the trees.
He was not extroverted enough to have initiated a conversation with anyone else and you quickly learn to keep a low profile when no one wants to see you (which is not true of where he was, but pefectly true of where he came from). Fortunately there were lots of books, in almost every room, many that not even Matasoga (socialite that he was) had read. It was these that Kromli busied himself with, now. He was reading by candle-light in the room that Matasoga had devoted to cryptozoology. He was reading about creatures that were reviled and misunderstood. He thought that reading in such a creepy room by candle-light might give him a little scare, but he was thus far to distracted by how bad he felt for the monsters.
He heard his name called by a tiny voice so he closed his book, accidentally snuffing the candle in the process, and made to exit the room, tripping over some things along the way, in the now darkened room.
((Now that I think of it, this may be in the basement, after all, but pay that no mind. You got to him, so that's all we'll worry about.))

Meanwhile, back on the roof, Matasoga was seeing once again the change in himself. Previously the sort of person that he was would have pressed his advantage. He'd have lifted her chin up, looked her in the eyes, whispered some sweet nothing or other and give her the kiss that it appeared that she wanted but now the fact that he didn't was but another reminder of how broken he was and how lost he felt.
As it was, he gave her little hand a small squeeze and let his fingertips gently brush her thigh as they returned to his lap and his chin tilted up to the stars which were glowing ever so slightly more vibrantly in the ever fading light of dusk. He softly sighed , as his thoughts took him, once more.

"Yes, I did," he said, looking back to her. "It's hard to know who to summon to help you if the healer isn't well."
He pat her cheek, noting that the melancholy seemed to instill a greater need for affection, however lachrymose. "I hope that it doesn't happen again," he quietly intoned.
Things happen, he thought. Terrible things. Things that leave me very much in need of a healing that no magic can provide.
He allowed the troubled look to appear on his face, no longer so much caring who saw. He wryly wondered if a charm spell cast upon himself could make him love himself again, as he once did.

Leiko heard tripping just ahead and flew faster, rounding the corner to reach a darkened room. Hovering a few feet away from the entrance she chewed on her lip briefly, contemplating entering it. She knew nothing would actually hurt her, but after so many years of fearing the dark out in the open, it was somewhat hard to just overcome it.
"Kromli?" She called, hesitantly inching closer to the entrance.

With a great bit of confusion Lulu took the envelope and opened it, retrieving the letter. She looked at him hesitantly and began reading silently. As she was reading she found herself starting to cry. Her ears drooped and her tail went limp. How...Why...would anyone ever do that to him? she thought as a whirl wind of emotions surged with in her. She finished reading and placed the letter back inside the envelope, despite her desire to rip it up with her claws like a feral animal. She looked at the ground for sometime then her sympathy and concern took over her better judgement and she threw her dainty arms around him."I-I'm sorry.."

Leiko giggled as she heard him respond and flew just inside the room.

"Kromli, what are you doing in there? Where you asleep?"

Lulu stayed like that for quite a time, then released him from her soft grip and looked at him, grief and sadness plastered to her face. She turned to the twinkling stars, wishing she could have woken up so much earlier. Maybe I could have stopped it...No..I couldn't have changed anything...
