Lin nodded at this, "That sounds like a good idea."

Meanwhile, Miyuki was peering over the cart's edge, making sure she wasn't standing but she wanted to see all the people. There were a lot of people.... the whole desert travel had worn off quick as a novelty. Apparently sand wasn't as much fun as snow. It got everywhere.

"We will go to the inn to reserve some rooms for you," said Triss, one of the guards. "We will await you there, lords."

Earendil nodded at the man. "Good. Go."

The two guards rode off, and Shea and Mikhail rode up to Earendil and Lin. "We'll follow you," Mikhail said. "Since we don't know the way."

Earendil nodded and started off down the road.

Miyuki watched the guards go off curiously. She never knew what to make of the guards, they acted differently with her Ada and the uncles. Actually she was pretty sure they acted a bit odd around her and her Mummi but she didn't pay so much attention to that.

"Where are we going?" she finally asked.

This was the first time the men were not following them.

Earendil smiled down at Miyuki. "We're going to see my cousin, Arwen," he explained. "Do you remember Elrohir, from the ranch where we were the last time you visited? That's her ada."

He looked ahead again, watching to make sure he didn't run over anyone. "We're going to tell her we've arrived, so that she can let us know when the ship is ready to leave."

"Why doesn't she live at the ranch?" Miyuki asked.

Living away from one's ada seemed to be a bit foreign to her, even though she herself did it. Though two weeks didn't really count in her eyes.

Earendil smiled. "Well, she got married and had a family of her own," he explained. "And since her husband, Roydon, lives and works out here, she moved out here to live with him. Just like your mama doesn't always live with your grandparents anymore, because we're a family."

Sort of. He hoped Lin didn't mind him taking a bit of liberty with that assumption.

Lin chuckled at that, she didn't mind seeing as at this point in her life it was true. She hadn't spent longer than two weeks at home since the sailing trip. Which was quite a feat...

"Oh....." Miyuki's ears flatted against her skull.

She didn't like this idea of being married then, she would have to live away from home.

"Where do we live?"
PostPosted: Sat May 22, 2010 11:57 am

"You know," Earendil mused, "that's actually a really good question. When you and your mama are gone, I live at the castle: but when you're here, we're always traipsing off all over the world ... I don't even know if you would say that we live anywhere in particular. For the next month or so, we're going to be living on the ship, but after that we're going to be living in Amon Darthir for a while."

He smiled at Miyuki. "So I guess the only real answer is, we live wherever we are, when we're together."

Miyuki's eyes lit up at that, that made a lot of sense to her, "Okay!"

She was perfectly happy with that explanation.

Lin could only chuckle at this, while she never drew pictures growing up she heard that other normal children did. So she had gone out of her way to buy such things. It would be interesting to see what pictures Miyuki would decide to draw.

"I think you'll like the ship," Lin told Miyuki, "Who knows what you'll see out there."

"I think the most exciting thing we saw last time was the sea dragons," Earendil chuckled. "That was amazing. Even more amazing that they came so close to the ship."

Even hit it once.

"Look," he pointed. "The river we'll be following to the ocean."

They were riding alongside the river now, very close to its edge, on the final path to Arwen and Roydon's house.

"Ocean...." Miyuki repeated.

Of course over the short trip they had, Miyuki had been explained what they were going to be doing and what the ocean was. Still the idea was hard to imagine, a place with a lot and lot of water.

"Fish!" Senka explained pouncing on top of Miyuki's head.

"Sushi?"
PostPosted: Sat May 22, 2010 12:34 pm

"Now there's an idea," Kaito grinned. "Lin, how about we teach Arwen how to make sushi? With how fresh of fish we're going to be having, there won't be any worry about using bad fish."

Earendil stared at Kaito. "Sushi?"

Kaito grinned at him cattily. "Leyenda could get the seaweed for us, too. The only thing we won't have is rice ... though even without the seaweed we could always do sashimi."

"Would anyone really go for it?" Lin asked.

Even among certain sectors of Gaia, sushi was one of those foods that had the possible ick factor. Lin was perfectly fine with sushi though, it was better than... some other delicacies she's had.

Though, she had to wonder the wisdom in introducing Miyuki to the joys of sushi.

"Sushi is, dried seaweed, rice and a slice of raw fish. The fish can be on top of the rice, sushi, or rolled up and sliced... maki or without the rice and seaweed it's sashimi.... and Kaito there's no soyasauce here."

She liked hers with soyasauce.

"Wasabi too?" Miyuki asked wondering if this meant they were going to get sushi.

Oddly enough she liked the spicy green stuff.

"There's no such thing here neither," Lin murmured.

"No sushi?"
PostPosted: Sat May 22, 2010 12:45 pm

Earendil shrugged. "I don't even know what most of that is, but the idea of raw fish, I must say, isn't that appealing. I would give it a try, perhaps, but ..."

Most other people wouldn't. And even for him, the only reason he would dare try it would be for Lin's sake.

Lin giggled at that, at least he would give it a try.

"I know.. I know how it sounds. Even among those who've acquired a taste to it, they'll only have certain types. It's not always raw though, certain sushi has to be cooked for health purposes like shrimp or eel."

"Eel!" Miyuki perked up at that, "Eel is yummy! Shrimp is not yummy."

"I'm lucky..." Lin told Earendil, "At least she will actually try before deciding it is not yummy."
