Seiji had to wonder, had she done what he just thought? It was hard to believe how much she had changed in this short time. On their first meeting, she'd seemed so robotic. Now she was well on the verge of being more monotone. Likely beyond that, with the hints of emotion and expression she was showing. This though, had it been what he thought? It was funny to think so. "I'm....not quite sure." Seiji calmed himself as the pondered it over for a moment. It'd been so short, but it seemed like it was true. It was too gentle to be anything but that. "I think you laughed Ranka."
"I'm glad to be of help. It's part of why you were sent here right? Learning can be a lot easier with a willing and able teacher." She was learning quickly, and picking up on new things he'd yet to 'teach'. Every moment that passed seemed to hold something new for Ranka to pick up on. At this rate, Seiji thought that Ranka might well become more knowledgable about emotions than Sheryl.
Seiji nodded in response. "I think you made the right choice." Despite how expressionless she had been just a short time ago, Seiji couldn't imagine the girl any other way now. "Feeling emotions helps us understand things we could never otherwise know. A way to learn things that someone without emotions could never dream of learning. In their own right emotions are their own unique experience." He smiled once more seeming her blush. She looked so cute like that, Seiji wondered if she knew anything about attraction. He found it odd to think someone wouldn't, but he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't.

Ranka waited patiently for his answer, wondering if it had just been a very odd augmented hiccup or something. She almost seemed to stop, she... she laughed? She could just picture Sheryl's reaction had she been conscious to witness it. "I...laughed? I actually laughed?" She whispered, more to herself, but it was certainly loud enough for him to hear. She fell quiet, a very small smile rising to her lips. She had laughed....
She nodded in answer to his question, another following as she remembered how Sheryl was less than able. "It is like night and day depending on the teacher. At first I thought I would just end up staying around to keep Sheryl company while gathering intel on living creatures..." She lowered her eyes, shaking her head a little bit as her gaze returned back up to him. "I never expected this."
It did relax her to hear him agree with her decision, sometime she had wondered if the Elders had cheated her considering their track record with others. Their hypocrisy, their... She stopped. She didn't want to think about them. "It adds a level of perspective, revealing just how truly complex living creatures are. When one only deals with the dead, you don't see it. For they are merely the pale reflections of the people they used to be. They lose more of themselves the longer they linger in the living world." She thought over what she had explained, her brows furrowing as the blush that had started to fade returned, lowering her eyes. "Forgive me, I'm sure such matters are not that interesting to talk about. They are certainly morbid." She added softly, worry again popping up in her chest amidst the warmth that was there. This warmth... she hadn't encountered it quite as much with Sheryl. Was there something different about him? Was there a reason for it? There had to be, it was the logical conclusion. Causality.

It seemed she was having difficulty believing it herself. Seiji wouldn't have guessed it, but the noise had been too calm to be a cough. Obviously not a sneeze. It was definitely some sort of sneer, given the context of their conversation. Regardless, it looked to Seiji like Ranka was even beginning to pick up on some traits or habits. Seiji had to wonder what Sheryl might say if she could see her sister blushing and talking about these matters.
"Well, as your...emotions teacher, and as a friend I'm happy to help. In any way I can. Better that you learn a bit from someone who deal with emotions everyday. Haha...it certainly seems like it's making the whole thing much easier for you." Just because she was new to emotion and expression didn't mean she had to face it alone. On that note, it was likely that both twins might have more questions for him...once Sheryl was capable. He'd teach Sheryl too if need be.
It was odd to think of that, being devoid or emotion or less of it. He assumed that when one died, most of the spirit might retain those thoughts from the previous life. Apparently not. He hoped he wouldn't be floating about too long when he died. "Morbid or not, I'm sure you've dealt with more than anyone could really imagine. Now on top of emotions, I hope learning and feeling these things won't disturb your duties. I'd hate to feel like I was making it more of a burden."

Ranka blinked, emotions teacher? Again, a small sort of laugh popped out of her, almost sounding more like a chuckle. "This is true. It would be harder for Sheryl to try to considering she's still getting the hang of them herself. Her examples are also rather... er... illogical. I do not understand them. You explain them in such a way that I can logically understand what you mean for the most part." Her brain was created to be very logic oriented, and if things strayed too far, she often became confused.
Well.... that was probably true. Except for those who were wraiths or were sensitive. But in terms of actually doing something with the dead, yes, she was the most qualified. His concerns about her duties made her blush and almost seemed surprised. "If the Elders sent me here to learn emotions, they much believe it won't interfere with my duties. Don't worry about it." She gave his hand a gentle squeeze, the warmth flaring up in her chest which caused her to lower her eyes. She was.... oh what was that word.. touched. His concern was touching to her. "If anything, because I went without emotions for so long and dealt with all I have, I am already desensitized to it." She added, glancing up to meet his gaze but she still found her eyes returning to the floor.

That was good to hear. Ranka was showing more and more actions of expression. It made Seiji feel like he was actually of some help. Not that she hadn't mentioned so already. It seemed trying to put things in a staight forward sense was working. He'd have to stick with that method. Although, should anything more complicated arise, he had to wonder how that might unfold. Even when trying to explain some of the more difficult emotions, trying to make it sound logical would still be confusing. Maybe Ranka would still be able to grasp the concept of those emotions anyway.
All this talk of her emotions, Seiji was almost ignored his own. It was obvious what he was feeling, happy being the first thing that came to mind. Listening to what she was saying made sense enough. If the twins were here to learn, it must not make a difference in how their emotions might affect them. When she squeezed his hand, Seiji felt his own pang of happiness flood through him. It was clear he was making a connection here with her. He liked the thought of having friends he could see often. While travelling he simply met people, did what he could to help and moved on.
Desensitized, that made sense. Having gone this long without really opening up to her emotions, Ranka had probably dealt with every sort of scenario without attaching any emotional value. Seiji had been worried that these new emotions might make things slightly more difficult for her. But if she was going to assure him it wouldn't, he would trust her. Though in everyday situations it seemed, they were already taking effect. Everytime she blushed and looked away, it made Seiji curious as to what she was thinking. Her eyes would meet his and then flit away. It was almost sort of funny, being such a human thing to do. What sort of thoughts must she be having to do such a thing? "That's good. I'd hate to feel responsible for making things more difficult for you." he admitted. "Sometimes having emotions might seem like a burden, but the rest of the time I'm sure you'll enjoy it. On top of that, you'll probably be able to make more sense of some things. Like how a person reacts, or goes about doing things."

He'd feel.... guilty? This caused Ranka to blink, raising her eyes up to him, the warmth starting to fade from her cheeks. A burden? Considering the experience she just had, she could understand how this was possible. "It would be more difficult if I didn't understand. You explain and thus I understand. If I were to remain confused, it could potentially have an effect depending on the situation." She explained, his worry causing herself to worry. Or rather.... she felt like she had to make sure he wouldn't worry. It made her feel... discomfort.
"I am.... already enjoying them. At least, some of them." She said quietly, namely the warmth in her chest. She didn't feel cold like always. For some reason she felt embarrassment for saying such a thing, her gaze lowering once more. It felt like that memory was tugging at her again, causing some of it. It was puzzling her to no end... "It will offer insight to be sure." She murmured quietly, pausing as she looked to her sister. She swore she heard her chuckle. Indeed Ranka had heard Sheryl chuckle, the faintest of smirks on her lips. She slowly opened one eye, raising her head a bit. God she hurt all over.... No amount of tingling from her powers could help with the sheer amount of damage done. "I leave for two seconds.... and you two get all lovey dovey...." She chuckled again, her voice still a bit raspy and soft. She coughed, wincing as some blood leaked out onto the floor, her blue eyes a bit dimmer than usual."Sheryl..." She crouched down, not immediately letting go of his hand, relief washing over her. But... now she was confused. What was lovey dovey? "Seiji, what does she mean? What is this, 'lovey dovey'?" She asked, looking up to him. She had to cast that aside for a moment, reaching a tentative hand to examine the worst of her wounds. "Are you sure you should be talking? You seem to be making the bleeding worse."Another chuckle follow by a wince and a cough, the smirk softening to a smile. "Ah.... thats still tender..." She shook her head a little, her other eye covered by her hair. They couldn't see, but she was actually missing it, the fibers starting to grow back. "I probably shouldn't.... Just wanted... to check in is all... Had to make sure you weren't causing trouble.. "

It was sort of difficult to relay certain things to Ranka without explaning. Sometimes he'd forget that he needed to make things simple and easy to understand. Luckily there wasn't too much trouble with that so far. She seemed to be associating emotions and connecting his words, which made it easier on him. "Good to hear I'm being useful, haha. Just ask if you feel like you need something clarified. Anything at all."
It was good she could diffrentiate between the positive and negative emotions. Not everything was as warm as feeling happy. That much was certain. Still, just having emotions was well worth it. For anyone. It was good to hear that Ranka was enjoying having emotions, even if she was just learning to interpret and feel them.
Hearing Sheryl's voice came as a bit of a startle. He hadn't expected her to awaken so soon. Even in her condition, it didn't seem as if her sense of humor had deteriorated at all. Of course her first words would be making fun of them. They hadn't exactly been flirting, not that Ranka knew what flirting was anyway, but he guessed the sight of them would suggest something along those lines. He took a few steps forward, watching as Ranka moved to comfort her sister.
Of course Ranka didn't know. This one might be a bit more complicated then his earlier explanations. "Erm..." Seiji started, though was relieved when Ranka pushed past her question and onto the concern for her sister. "She's right. You should be resting. But it's good to hear you still have enough in you to add in your opinion." Seiji smiled, kneeling down next to the twins. It was still hard for Seiji to see Sheryl in such a state, but that she was concious and able to poke fun at them was a good sign. He had no longer had any doubts she would make a full recovery.
Sheryl didn't really need to know about the little mishap that had happened while she'd been out. If Ranka felt the need to bring it up, then that was her decision. But better to let her rest for the time being. Sheryl shouldn't have to worry about anything but herself for now. "Nothing out of the ordinary. Well, as ordinary as things are.." Seiji commented. "You dropping in has been the peak of excitement so far."

Sheryl took a deep shuddering breath, carefully pushing herself up more even though it made her side and leg scream out in pain. "Feh.... I'll certainly get to do enough of that..." She murmured, referring to how they hadn't moved from the cafeteria. "Ranka can tell you... I tend to speak my mind... No matter *cough* the situation." She brought up her semi-ok hand to brush her hair aside, realizing they would be able to see her lack of eye, but whatever. She didn't really care that they saw her like this.
Raising an eyebrow, she smirked, glad to know that was the case. "Well... glad to be the... *cough cough* .. Highlight of the party." She smirked, her eyes zoning out for a moment before refocusing on something that was held out in front of her. It was Ranka's eye patch. Ranka allowed Seiji to answer since.... well, she couldn't make herself do so. She didn't want Sheryl to know what had happened. Not yet. She offered her eye patch when she saw her sister was missing an eye. "I don't need it. For the time being-" She fell quiet as her sister shook her head. Very well. Stuffing it back in a pocket, she unconsciously tightened her grip on his hand, not really able to show how she was worried about Sheryl. Her expression was impassive like usual.Sheryl just sort of smiled, appreciating the gesture, but she didn't need it. Hell, she wasn't sure if the gash on her head would appreciate it. "So.... Seiji.... Why are you...holding her hand? You making moves on my sis while I'm knocked out?" She teased, her blue eye lowering to their joined hands. Oh she wasn't going to let this go. She was highly amused by this to be honest. And well, haha that would be another time. "Making moves?" Ranka was once again confused, knowing she never really got an answer to her earlier question. And she didn't understand why, but she found herself blushing rather furiously to what her sister was saying. Touching her cheek with a free hand, she lowered her gaze, moving through definitions of phrases and the like to see if she could figure it out on her own. She only ended up confused.

It was obvious she was still in pain. So why was Sheryl putting forth so much effort just to get in on the conversation? If it had been Seiji he was sure he'd much rather be unconcious. To put herself through even more grief seemed like an odd thing to do. But he guessed her words were true, she would speka her mind no matter the situation. Somehow Seiji felt that was going to make things a bit more pressing on he and Ranka.
Feeling Ranka's grip, Seiji glanced to their hands, his attention quickly being pulled from that though as Sheryl began to speak again. Of course. He was right, it seemed she was going to enjoy this light form of torture. In all honesty, it hadn't started off as anything like that. But if he protested he was sure Sheryl would shoot at him with some sly remark. "Ha...haha. Funny." Seiji laughed forcefully, his eyes turning to Ranka when she seemed to look for explanation.
Ranka's reaction seemed to only make Seiji a little more flustered. She didn't know what Sheryl was talking about, yet reacted no differently. "Well...I was really only trying to comfort Ranka, you see." Seiji started, trying to explain himself. "While you were gone I started to explain to her about some of the emotions. From there, well it just continued I guess." He wasn't going to deny that he liked Ranka. That much he knew, even if she didn't know anything about it, Sheryl was still going to juice this for as much entertainment as she could.
There was really no point in trying to deny anything at this point. Seeing as how Ranka still had ahold of his hand. Turning to face her for a moment, Seiji thought on it. "She's teasing us..well, more me really. She knows I know what she's implying. umm...how should I say it. Basically Ranka, she's saying I'm trying to court you. Does that make sense?" That was logical wasn't it? He hoped so. Sheryl was already trying to embarass him as it was. Having to explain it to Ranka on the side would only make it more fun for Sheryl.

For supposedly representing life and all that, Sheryl was enjoying being just a bit devilish. It was just too cute. In reality though, she was happy for her sister. Chuckling at his initial dodge, she coughed, wincing a little. Still, she raised an eyebrow at his explanation, a sly sort of smile rising to her lips despite his efforts. "Continued eh?" She almost added a remark, but she fell quiet since her sister was oblivious to it. And it would be better if he tried to explain. Well, at least she believed so. Ranka blinked, what was Sheryl so amused at? As Seiji grew flustered, her confusion rose. Why was he feeling discomfort? Had she done something? What in the world was going on? Raising her eyes to meet his, she remained still, tilting her head in the slightest. Teasing him? Tease: the act of harassing someone playfully or maliciously. To arouse hope, desire, or curiosity without satisfying them. Disentangle fibers as in wool. She assumed it was the first of those definitions, refocusing to find out what about. Him?
She blinked twice, court her... She blinked twice again, defining court in her head. The one relating to politics made no sense, ending up with the remaining.... Again her cheeks flushed for a reason she didn't understand, but now an odd kind of discomfort followed. It was bad.... but she also didn't know what it was. "To court someone in medieval era meant to date a person." Her brows furrowed, wait he.... with her? She was quiet a moment, glancing to her sister as she heard her giggle. "I..." Lowering her gaze, her face felt hot, her eyes falling upon him again. "Why does one court someone? I... I understand what it means, but I don't follow-""Ranka," Sheryl started gently, looking to Seiji with an apologetic sort of look in her eye, meeting her sisters gaze. "What he's saying is he likes you. Has he explained that one to you?" She asked softly, observing as carefully as she could amidst the pain."Like. 'To put it simply, when you like someone you enjoy being around that person. In some cases it's simply enjoying that person's friendship. In other cases, it develops into something more than that.' " She quoted how he explained it to her earlier, her brows furrowing. "I know he likes me. I like him, we-"Sheryl smiled, she could be so hopeless. "No meimei... He means the other like. He cares about you more than just a friend... *cough* You remain friends, but you can be more than that."To that Ranka sort of froze, her heart beat now rapid. He.. he felt like that? About her? "But I... Y-you do?" She suddenly looked up to him, her chest feeling as if it were fluttering. "What is this fluttering? Why do I feel... bouncy? I..." She was caught amidst a whirl of emotions again, but they weren't negative. They didn't hurt. No, rather... she felt very happy. Really really happy. "Happiness, warmth, increased heart rate..." She lowered her gaze, she felt embarrassed since she didn't fully understand. And they did.

Sheryl seemed to be enjoying this just a bit too much. In a way, Seiji didn't feel any ill-bred feelings for this treatment. He knew it was all in good fun. On that note, it seemed things were steadily coming to the realization point for Ranka. What was he going to do? He started thinking it over as the conversation became silent for a moment. Better to just take things as they come, it would likely be easier, for all of them. It wasn't like he could turn tail suddenly and deny all of it.
He took a breath, ready to try and explain it to her, though as Sheryl started, it seemed he wouldn't have to. Meeting Sheryl's gaze, Seiji stayed silent, his expression almost shrugging off the teasing. He knew she meant nothing by it. In fact, his reaction to her teasing likely made it all the more fun. Either way, he didn't mind. Being in her state, it might have eased some of the pain for Sheryl, able to laugh at him like she did.
As Sheryl explained the situation to her sister, Seiji watched Ranka for a moment, waiting for her reaction. For someone who was so new with emotions, how would she respond? As their eyes met, Seiji searched for something positive, though quickly let his gaze lower, looking to their entwined hands. His own face suddenly growing hot for a change. He wasn't sure what to say, but it seemed her reaction wasn't a bad one. "Mm....yeah. I.." He was at a loss for words. His face growing darker with colour. "Hah..it's....yeah."

Ranka looked to the two of them for aid, but... She saw him blushing. Possibly embarrassment. No, probable reaction. She was quiet, tentatively reaching a hand up to his face, allowing it to come to rest gently against one side of his face. Her aim was to help cool him down since she could only guess how warm that must be considering he was already warm blooded. She.... well, it took a lot to make her feel hot. She thought of other definitions, doing her best to compile them to make some sense. She just hoped she reached the correct conclusion. "I... like you too Seiji." She said slowly, the smallest hint of inflection in her voice. "I... I mean... if I correctly understand the reactions I had.. have.. to you confessing." She added rather quickly, why was she so flustered? Worried. To watch this... Sheryl's expression softened. She could see how happy Ranka was. She had never seen her like this. "Watch her carefully. She should watch herself." She heard in her mind, maintaining the smile even though internally she was not happy. Why were the Elder's speaking to her. Whatever for? You wanted her to learn her about living beings right? What, you changing your mind? "Watch your tone bok'tavet. There are reasons we almost purged her of emotions." Sheryl winced, hiding her puzzlement with pain. Relaxing, she didn't like the sound of that at all. Oi, whats that supposed to mean? Oh don't you leave me hanging! "You will learn in time. As will she. Watch her." Joy. A happy scene stained with darkness.

Seiji's mind was racing with thoughts, questions, scenarios that could have unfolded from this moment. It was quiet again, and despite his hopes, Seiji's mind decided to think on what sort of questions Ranka might have form this. Regardless of her response, surely she would have questions and new feelings that she would like to know. Honestly, each second that ticked by felt like an eternity to him.
This was something that he certainly hadn't expected. He could still feel his cheeks burning with colour. Though, soon, a coldness swept over him. Fingers. As he let his vision slowly raise, his eyes met with Ranka's. Her cold touch seemed to settle him, the blush gradually fading from his face. He couldn't help but smile, even though she had yet to say anything. His own hand raising up now, to rest upon hers. He didn't dare pull her hand from his face, but just kept in touch with her, enjoying the cool sensation.
When Ranka finally spoke, his breath seemed to hold in his chest until she finished. He felt elated knowing she felt the same. Or at least, she thought she did. Emotions like these must have been very new to her. That was fine, Seiji would help her try to learn them and their meaning. "I'm very happy to hear it," Seiji replied, still smiling. "And I'll do my best to help you understand anything you find confusing." He glanced to Sheryl for a moment, somewhat in a way of thank you. He was sure if she hadn't started to tease him, this never would have come to light.

Ranka felt her cheeks flush as he touched her other hand, watching as he smiled. She felt the corners of her lips lift, now smiling herself. "As always, thank you. I fear there may be many questions I have now." She said softly, turning to look at her sister. Some part of her was concerned about just how clueless she was, but... she knew she really didn't need to fret. He was patient with her ignorance. But those thoughts were moved aside, almost surprised her sister wasn't apparently more excited. True, her wounds and weakened state prevented her from being so, but still... Perhaps I am over thinking things again. Sheryl couldn't dwell on that now, she'd speak to Rank about it later. For now, she had to be happy for them, though that was easy. Her sister, the robot had someone she cared for and who cared for her. Honestly, she was a little envious but she didn't really mind. She winked to Seiji, though the gesture looked a bit odd since her other eye was still in the process of regrowing. "I'm sure you already know... she does have a thirst for understanding." She murmured, coughing. The burns on her one hand were now healed, all lacerations on her legs gone. Now she just had to finish up with her shoulder, eye, side, and crushed leg. Then she'd be in tip top shape. "But have fun... And take care of her... Otherwise I'll *cough* have to beat ya." She smirked, breathing a little easier. To that Ranka only briefly lowered her eyes, blinking twice. "I do not function at top capacity if I am confused. You remember the last time I was distracted by my lack of understanding." She reminded her sister, glancing down to her chest. It felt like it was pitter-pattering. "I'm sorry I don't really know what to do in this situation. I.... I know of actions and acts, but their timing and situations I don't understand. They are merely definitions to me, that is the extent of my knowledge." She spoke to him quietly, images from books flashing past in her mind but that was all they were.

That came as no surprise to Seiji. It was to be expected. To experience something like this after becoming slightly versed in emotions, he was surprised how she reacted to all of it. In some ways, he'd expected something less of it, let alone her understanding it. "That's absolutely fine," his voice now a little more calm, rather than his flustered tone earlier. "I kind of thought as much."
When Sheryl had winked, Seiji hadn't really been sure what to make of the action. Having just the one eye, it could as well have been a blink. When the battered up girl spoke, he assumed it to be the first. She was making quick progress of healing herself. The more serious injuries would probably take more time though. Ranka had mentioned Sheryl would need a day or two just to fix herself. He pushed the thought from his mind, nodding in response. "No worries there. I think I understand the both of you a bit better now. That aside, I was always told finding something worth protecting helps one grow and learn more about themself. I'll do my best."
His attention returning to Ranka, Seiji's mind had to try and process how to make this a simple as possibly. For Ranka, it was likely these actions she was referring to would have no meaning. How could he put it so she would understand? "Uhm...well, if I understand what you're trying to say, many of these actions have some sort of emotional value attached to them." Some actions more than others, but it wasn't like she would understand just yet. "Timing...isn't exactly an issue once you understand the meaning behind them all. Learning them however might take more time. Most actions between two people who...like each other, are full of passion and...some form of love." There, that word. Love could carry so many meanings, hopefully Ranka would still follow after he'd used it.
