"Whoa whoa whoa...What list? I just followed you here to hit someone. I'm not so complex. What's goin' on here anyways? All you wackos look like you're hiding something. Is this a drug cartel? If it is, I'm outta here!" She stands up in alarm, clutching the tea and cup tightly.

"I'd ask if any of the minors here haven't killed someone but I'd be disappointed." Jeffery didn't even care at this point that that Maria was his student, let alone doing poorly in his class.
"Marcus, do you by chance have anything a bit stronger than tea?" He asked, sitting down in a chair, sighing.

"Hey teach! That ain't fair. I couldn't help it!....I mean, Y'know...Self-defense?" she finished weakly. Ahh crap. Great job, Maria. Now they're onta ya.

Marcus sighed, pinching his nose.
"Okay. So, here is the truth... Once you hear these words, we can't exactly let you take off and run the streets anymore. because there's folks out there who'll find you and kill you for knowing it."

Maria's eyes widened. "It is a cartel! You guys are mafia! Hellz naw, I'm outta here!" She turned to leave, but was stopped by Maya.

"Kid, you're an idiot. We're not mafia, we're mutants. Stop being such a schizo for a second." Maya said.

Maria looked at everyone in the room for a moment. "For reals? No lie? Ya guys are mutants? Where's yer lame a** tights?" She eyed Maya warily, then asked, "What's your power, chick?"

Maya groaned and rolled her eyes. "I talk to stuff. Like, literally, stuff. That couch, the wall, your jacket. Don't laugh, or I'll punch you square between the eyes. What about you?"

Maria edged away from Maya and the others, casting panicked glances around the room. Now her schizophrenia really was acting up. "Why? I ain't tellin ya nuthin! Back up, ya hear?!" She hyperventilated and passed out.

Marcus sighed, shaking his head.
"Lou, take this girl to a room. And watch her. She's clearly unstable and somewhat stressed on top of it all. We need to watch her. Closely."

Sam yawned, stretching out. "Well, if it's all the same to you cats, I'mma crash. Can a brother get a sleepin' apparatus 'round here?" He smiled, walking off.

Jeffery sighed, rubbing his temples as he poured himself a drink. "The alcohol is appreciated, Marcus. It's been a long day."

Jarred picked up the bottle, pouring himself a shot. "Agreed. A night cap never did anyone anything but good."

((My bad. Kinda forgot you posted, Nate. And yes, he does have alcohol. Many kinds.))

Marcus nodded.
"You are welcome. There's enough room for all of us to have our own bed. The Guard brought me some air matresses while you were out, Make yourselves comfortable."

Tyson followed by and took in each new face as he tried to keep up with the old man. Lively old sport, aren't you? Tyson thought with a playful smirk. Though he was usually reclusive, he felt he would enjoy his time in fake little China shop. Mae's wave caught him by surprise and he looked at her quickly, smiling warmly as he moved his hand to wave back, clumsily knocking it on the underside of a counter. He would have shouted in pain cursing vainly if had he the voice to. In stead he gave his hand a gentle rub before using it to return the small wave. Japanese word for idiot is baka. I wonder what the Chinese equivalent is.

The old man chuckled quietly, as if he knew what had happened behind his back, despite not having turned around as he took to the stairs. "In the morning we will go over some more. Perhaps you can show us what you have learned with your gift. But for now, it is good to rest."

He led Tyson up to the apartment above the restaurant. It was indeed small, but there was floor place, warm looking rugs, and piles of books strewn across the area. Books rested on every surface, be it table, counter, shelf, or even other books. Some of the larger stacks seemed to teeter, though remained standing up as if by some invisible power. "I have blankets in the closet. And spare pillows. But we don't let it get too cold. Mae doesn't like cold."

Kat glanced over at Jarred and Jeffery, "Just don't over do it, you two. We've probably got a full plate for tomorrow as well."

She stood up and walked over to Rook, keeping her voice down slightly, though not trying to hide the conversation by any means. "Tomorrow we should contact the other sliders. I know of a group, they work out of a restaurant. They're non-aggressive by nature, but I think I can change their minds. It'll add experience and a hell of a lot of skill to our numbers. Sleep on it if you have to, but I'll be seeing them tomorrow, and it would be nice to have a bit of back up."

Kat moved back towards the kitchen to get herself a cup of water. It was getting fairly late, and she was starting to feel the weight of the day pulling at her eyelids.

Rook nodded.
"We need all the help we can get, especially if they brought the Nephilim to the island." Rook replied, nodding, "I'll go with. But, you know them better than I do, so you can do the talking. Kinda awkward with social situations."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 13, 2010 4:17 pm

"That we do." Kat gave Rook a small smile. "You aren't too bad with the social-work, hon. You'll do fine." She let out a small sigh, "But it is best time to be heading to bed. I think I'll be crashing early."

"Gnight, boys, and girls." She added the last with a nod to Maya and Maria.

Jarred nodded, wishing Kay goodnight while Jeffery continued with that drink.

Roxanna walked back into the main room. Her hair was wet and pulled back into a long pony tail, while the rest of her was bundled up in a robe that was obviously too big for her. She passed by Kat, giving her a soft "goodnight," before joining the others in the main room. "I'm glad you have all come back. It's been oddly quiet out there. Rather disturbing in fact." She passed by Jarred and Jeffery noting the open bottle of alcohol, her eyebrow raising into a brief arch. "Things not go well?"

"Yeah, that's one way to put it." Jeffery said over his drink, not looking up.

Jarred set the glass down, swallowing. "Appreciated. I think I'll head in now, everyone. Long day coming up." He nodded to everyone. "Gnight all."
