Derek wove between traffic and ran on walls as he scoured the city, looking for any sign of danger or excitement. He was rounding a corner when he saw two costumed individuals standing inside a 7-11. Now, that's odd, He thought to himself as he skidded to a stop. It was hard to stop, now, as the rubber soles of his shoes had been run down. He went through shoes often. "Now, doesn't this look just odd." He said, the hood of the dark green parka pulled low over his face, so that only his jaw could be seen. Deciding that this jeopardized his vision too much, and because it had stopped raining, he threw the garment off at lightning speed. He wasn't the secret identity type.

A Lonely Leaf Falcon took a step back and held his hands up. "Whoa, relax. I'm on your side," he said, looking down at the woman. He kept his guard up in case she tried something. The last motion he saw her do by the cash register had raised his suspicion. It looked like she was going to steal the money. I am not one to talk, though. My record is less than perfect. What a dandy world we live in, he thought, smirking under his mask. He found it funny that he borrowed money to fund his career. If only he had been born wealthy. That would have solved everything. Alas, only in the world of fictional would that be likely. ((Sorry, had to quote it because of all the other people posting...Not that I'm mad!)) Erika relaxed a little. But the voice in her head just wouldn't shut up. This time, it was actually helpful instead of cynical. On your flank! A new warrior approaches. Erik had taught her some military type jargon. "On your flank" meant something was happening on your side, where you couldn't see. Erika turned quickly to see another man. Perfect, you're surrounded. Now what? Erika tensed up, ready to fight off this new man, and the other if he was lying about being on her side.

It seemed like Falcon had eased the woman, but something else drew her attention. Her eyes were drawn from him to something. Falcon had been so focused on the scenery that he hadn't picked up on it until now. He shifted slightly so that he was now standing in profile position. Half his body (left side) faced the woman and the other half (right side) faced the doorway in the direction of the other person.
This was unusual. Falcon had only rarely ran into so many costumed folks. Although, this was probably because he didn't go out as much, not that there were less people. He could not be sure how either the male or female would regard him. He hoped the woman would ease up, but now that this other guy had come along, he doubted she would.
His red eyes glanced between both strangers.

Taeko wrote on the paper, My eyes must see your face if I am to know what you say. She then pointed to her ears after showing him what she had written.

"Sorry," John said after reading what Taeko had wrote, making sure she could see his face."Yes, I am very young. You might think I'm a hero, but I'm not."

((She could see that his jaw was moving from behind... --that's somewhat easy to notice if you're watching a person from behind..lo but in order to know what he is saying she has to be able to read the lips.. n.n; l))

"Declare yourself!" Erika yelled to the new man. Her request was two-fold, she was asking for a name, and for the man to declare his intentions.

"Derek. And, you are?" He said, almost mockingly. Then he held his hands out in a stopping motion. "Hold on, let me guess. You're robbing the place?" He hoped that took as witty banter. He hadn't had much practice with it, as it was his first hero night. He brushed off his jeans and shirt, then took a fighting stance. "Forgive me, I'm new at this. Is this the part where we fight each other?"

Taeko blinked and smiled warmly as she wrote, My name is Taeko. Tah eh ko She wrote her name and then how to sound it out as she had been taught to do when she introduced herself. She paused for a moment waiting for his reply.

Erika went off like a bomb. "WHAT? YOU THINK I'M THE BAD GUY? YOU LITTLE BAS-" Luckily, Erika decided against finishing her thought, and allowed emotions to get the better of her. She drew her katana and placed the blade on Derek's neck.

Derek blurred behind her. "You're gonna have to be faster than that to cut me." He said. "Or even to threaten me, really." The truth was, most everyone, including ninja-girl, moved in extra slow-mo to Derek. He had just never realized before his powers had truly awoken that he was the only one that saw the world like that. A sword in the hands of someone with anything less than super-speed was useless against him.

"Hey now," Falcon began, placing his claws on the blade. "Relax, woman. It's just a small understanding," he said, scratching his claw against the blade.
