Corrah saw her wince, and it hurt him, but he didn't let it show as he continued to coat her face in the cream. He still didn't trust himself to speak ... she was just like Armus ... actually, a bit more developed than Armus had been, but still ...

Suddenly Armus herself appeared in the clearing, cheeks flushed with the exertion.

"Kanis, how are you feeling?" she asked, kneeling next to her in front of Corrah, her eyes anxious.

Kanis had not even heard Armus approach she was too lost in the feeling of Corrah's hand. Her eyes opened and she turned her check into Corrah's hand a bit harder a bit startled. She winced and her hand flew up to try and grab her cheek though instead grabbed a hold of Corrah's hand.

She looked at Armus and smiled, "I..I am alright...Corrah have me some medicine....and once he fixes my leg I will get off your bedding." she said her voice back to being almost even.

She had been thinking of stupid things and she was very embarrassed by her thoughts. She was Corrah's trainee...and far to young to think that she was anything more than a student.

She was very thankful for Armus' interruption before she had said or done anything stupid.

As Kanis grabbed Corrah's hand, he froze so that he wouldn't accidentally injure her further. He didn't bother taking her hand off his as he continued to rub in the cream. He knew he would be causing her some pain, but hopefully the drug was taking effect and she wouldn't feel too much.

Armus snorted at Kanis. "Don't you move a muscle," she told her plainly. "You're staying there as long as Corrah says you are. You're injured, I'm used to sleeping on the ground without a blanket at all. You need it. Take it."

She paused, and when she spoke again her voice was more tender. "And while you're up here I can make you your own clothes," she murmured. "You won't have to wear mine ... though you're welcome to keep the pants if you like."

Kanis held the back of Corrah's pefect, in her eyes, hand before lowering her hand. "I have ruined your pants anyway Armus....I will learn to sew and i will make you some to replace them." Her eyes looked down at the pants. "Even if you could not wear them any more...And hopefully Corrah...um sir wont have to keep me here long..." She did not want to be in the way.

She could see how much Corrah must mean to Armus. She had stayed with him even where her training was done. And Armus had been lots worse off than Kanis was. She wondered if Armus had a crush on Corrah or he one her. She knew her sister had a crush on Rhea and visa versa.

She sighed, "Your pants are very nice Armus." she said. "but please don't trouble yourself with making me any...after all you still have to make Rhea some proper close. And I know when my mom finds out she will come up here to see us...and bring clothes and want to look at my leg and stuff..."

She had to stick with the thoughts she had already established the night before. No one would ever share the beautiful cave she called home...no one would see the view with her and know the beauty of it. After all her and Corrah had nothing alike.

"How are my siblings and Rhea?"

Corrah finished with Kanis's bruised cheek and began to work on her swollen eye.

"I'm sorry if I poke you by accident," he murmured, though his hand was steady and strong.

Armus smiled at Kanis. "You have no need to make me new pants," she told her softly. "What use would I have for them? No, you just focus on healing yourself up, and we'll take good care of you. All right?"

She relaxed a bit as Kanis asked about the others. "They're all right," she assured her. "Rhea and Aras are back in their cave, I'll be bringing them food later, and Ruran's happy on his own."

Technically not a lie. And she was speaking so naturally that it would be impossible to tell that she wasn't telling the full truth.

Kanis looked up at Corrah and nods shallowly trying not to look at his hand so close to her eye as he worked. "Thank you sir." she said and looked back to Arums, "I am sorry ma'am...your right. I am glad they are all safe. I am very sorry for the scare...I will learn to be more careful where I step."

She tried to laugh softly though it sounds a bit force. She did not want to be up here where Corrah and Armus could hear her cry. She did not want to be a burden. She really was the most useless of her parent's children.

"It wasn't your fault," Armus told Kanis softly, reaching to take her other hand and stroking it gently, comfortingly. "If Ruran hadn't punched you after your foot was stuck, it would never have happened. You can't blame yourself ..."

She stroked Kanis's hair tenderly, looking up at Corrah, feeling a little lost at what to do.

Corrah smiled and spread the cream as quickly and as gently as he could.

"You are being very brave, Kanis," he murmured softly, his voice filled with approval and pride. "You have nothing to apologize for."

Kanis bit her lip, not nearly hard enough to bite another hold into it, as she tried not to cry. They were being so nice to her over a mistake she made. She was not worthy of thier praise or anything and her good eye started to tear up but she fought off them. She would not cry.

"thank you both...very much." she said.

As Corrah finished coating her swollen eye with the cream, he nodded to Armus, who nodded back and vanished once more into the trees, leaving the two of them alone. Then he set the jar aside and, very carefully, very gently, very slowly, he picked up Kanis and held her in his lap like the child that she was.

"Let it out," he murmured softly, holding her against his chest and rocking her gently back and forth. "Holding it back only uses more of your strength, and it will hold back your healing."

He stroked her hair gently, wrapping her warmly in his arms.

Kanis was very confused at what was going on but she didn't asked she was trying too hard to to cry. But as Corrah carefully took her into his arm and lap she leaned against him and she could not stop herself as she started to cry. She shook in his arms and nuzzled him unable to stop now.

She felt so lost and alone, it hurt so bad and she was so confused by everything. But she knew that Corrah would take care of her no matter what happen. She would never betray his trust. She could continue until all her tears were gone and she just laid again him and took teh comfort he offered her.

Corrah let Kanis cry until she had no tears left to cry and his robe was soaked through, all the while cradling her against him and rocking her back and forth comfortingly. When she finished, or when he believed that she had, he stroked her hair gently and leaned his head down to murmur in her ear, "Would you like something to help you rest?"

His bag was full of concoctions that he had experimented with and perfected as he had grown up in his little wilderness, and he knew exactly which ones would help her the most - and at this moment, he thought, she needed rest more than anything else.

Kanis did not respond to Corrah because she had already fallen asleep cuddled against him her hands tight around his robe. She had needed the emotional comfort almost as much if not more than the comfort of fixing her body.

She felt so safe with him and he was so very kind. She would have to make things up to him one day.

Corrah stroked Kanis's hair softly and moved to sit next to a rock so that he could lean back and let the rock take some of the weight. He knew he should put Kanis back on the ground while she was asleep and the drug was still working, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. As much as her leg needed attention, he was afraid that if he put her down ... she would wake and be afraid again.

He couldn't stand that ... her being afraid. He wanted her to feel safe ... taken care of ...

Kanis nuzzled against Corrah and she would sleep for a short wail before slowly waking up to the warmth and solidarity of Corrah around her.

She blushed a bit, and bit her lip. "I...I am sorry sir...did I fall alseep?" She nuzzled his chest as unintenually as she looked up at him.

For a minute she thought it was all just a dream. But she knew it wasn't. For there would be no other reason for her to be in his arms.

Corrah chuckled softly. "Don't worry," he smiled at her, "I was hoping that you would. You needed it more than anything else."

He paused a moment, then asked, "Will you be all right if I set you down? I can give you more of that draught if the pain has returned ... the first bit I gave you might be wearing off by now ... but now I have to properly wrap your leg. It's set, so the most painful part is done ..."

He felt a little foolish, rambling the way he was to her, but at the same time he didn't want to keep anything from her: she was brave, she deserved to know exactly what was going on. Not to mention, the information would be helpful for her for her training.
