Celebor nodded. "Should I just leave my bag by the door, then?" he asked as they reached the bottom of the stairs. "I mean there's really no use taking it to breakfast, is there?"
Unless someone wanted to stick more provisions into his bag, which was possible.

A frown crossed Ahren's face and faded away again as he entered into the dining room. "Nuthin'."
Haradhel looked up at Ahren entered the room, and she sighed softly.
"Don't mind him," she told Lin as she sat at the table. "He gets grumpy every time someone leaves on a hunt. He doesn't like that he's not old enough to go with them."
Of course the biggest problem was that he wasn't much older than the kids they were setting out to rescue, so he would only be more of a hindrance than a help. He was still a child, after all, without the training necessary to go on a hunt like that.

Lin thought about it... and thought about it, "I'll be right back," she told Haradhel.
Donovan was about to answer Celebor's question when Lin went zipping by them hurrying up the steps at a pace that he thought everyone in the Ranch could hear her.
"Err.." he watched as she disappeared back upstairs, "Yea, that would be the best idea."

Celebor stared at Lin as she ran up the stairs at full speed. "Uh ... huh," he murmured. "Right."
He headed to the door and set his bag next to it, then turned back to Donovan. "Breakfast, then."
And he headed towards the dining room.

"Eh?"
Haradhel blinked as Lin seemingly disappeared, and a curious look crossed her face. She glanced over at Kara.
"Do you have any idea where she's going?" she asked softly.
Even Arwen had settled down a bit, staring after Lin, but Ahren didn't seem to care overly much. His expression was still bored, and he just sighed and sat on the bench by the table, folded his arms on the table, and put his chin in his arms.

Donovan moved to set his bag aside before heading to where he knew the others were.
"I wonder where she's going."
Lin rushed into her room and nearly dove into her bag (if she could have fit), she yanked out dolls and threw them on the bed. Until she found exaclty what she was going looking for, a small pouch she had gotten for times like this. Reaching in she pulled out a single round white candy with red swirls on them. With that in hand she rushed back down.

"Sweetening!" Miyu giggled.
She knew all about it too, since most around Lin and Miyu's stage did know about Lin's odd logic.
Kara sighed, "I think I know.... you told her that Ahren was grumpy so she went to get what she thinks is the cure all of all grumpiness."

Celebor headed into the dining room and sat down to wait for his breakfast. He was just in time to hear Kara's comment about grumpiness, and he looked around to see who was grumpy. It didn't take long for him to see that it was Ahren who was so out of sorts. He didn't know what was causing it, but he couldn't help but feel sorry for the boy.

"There's a cure for grumpiness?" Haradhel asked, amazed. "I've never heard of one before ..."
She was tempted to ask what it was, but she had a feeling she was going to find out in a few minutes. Not to mention, if Miyu's comment was any indication ...
"Not grumpy," Ahren mumbled, turning his face away from the others.

"We're never going to live that one down are we?" Donovan asked Kara as he stepped into the room.
He knew exactly what Kara had meant by that, and it was damn embarassing for him to be caught off guard like that. Especially by both Kara and Lin at the same time.
No sooner had he spoke could hear hear the tell a tale signs of Lin running (or jumping) down the stairs. Zipping back into the dining room making a beeline for Ahren. The little girl manuvered her body so she could be facing Ahren before bringing something (the candy) to his lips.
"Here," she told him.

"Well, you're not anyways," Kara laughed softly, "I think personally it is cute. Though.... I do admit I'd rather her not spy on us like that."
She giggled a bit more as she watched Lin.

"Eh?" Ahren's head shot up with surprise, completely shocked by Lin's actions. He could smell something minty coming from the thing that she was holding in her hands, but he had no idea what it was. He of course had been barely an infant the last time Lin had brought the red and white candy, and he couldn't remember it at all.
He leaned his head forward a bit to sniff at the candy curiously. "What ... is that?" he asked, sounding slightly interested. He reached his hand out for it, holding his hand under Lin's so that she could drop the candy into it.

Lin put it in his hand figuring he would rather eat it himself than have someone else feed it to him.
"It's peppermint candy," she explained, "It's just candy that tastes like peppermint."

"Peppermint?" the boy repeated. "I've never heard of it ..."
Ignoring the fact that it was mealtime (and breakfast of all meals) he popped the candy into his mouth. Almost immediately, his eyes grew wide with surprise.
"Hey, it's good!" he exclaimed, a grin spreading slowly over his face. "Thanks!"

Donovan sighed as he leaned over Kara's shoulder murmuring in a low voice, "She's never going to grow out of this one is she?"
Not that he minded, but he could only imagine Lin grown up and still offering sugar to anyone who seemed to be a bit 'grumpy'.
"You're welcome!" Lin smiled back at him, pleased that he was now smiling too.
She knew it would work, and unfortunately for those who knew better this only strengthen her conviction that sugar was a cure all for this sort of thing.
