1.I Play the-
Flute (and piccolo, bamboo flute, have dabbled with trombone, currently dabbling with electric bass). I like to sing too.
2.It's name is/is going to be-
I actually don't name my instruments.
3.What chair?
I was #1 in college pep band (we didn't have an official concert band) but #4 at the highest point in high school.
4. What classification does your BD rank under?
I've always had very nice, laid back, women for BD's
5.How many in your section?
In high school...about 26-30.
6. What brand Instrument?
My flute is a Yamaha
My picc is a Gemeinhardt
My two 6-hole flutes are made by Doug Tipple and Billy Miller
My bass is an Ibanez
I never owned a trombone
7. Hardest song ever played?
Hmmmm....I've played a LOT and I can think of a lot of pieces I found challenging...can't pick just one.
8.Middle or high school?
Graduated college...but my high school band days were my glory days
9. Band geek family?
Yeah. I have 4 siblings that are all in music programs...one is probably going to go to a major conservatory for further music study. Not me though. I have a musical mother and a supportive father.
10.Band love?
Yep! Actually I had very little band love while in band. But this November I'm marrying my best friend from high school, who participated in every musical activity I did. He's a pianst/hornist/singer currently dabbling with guitar and will eventually dabble with saxophone. AND he has perfect pitch. *jealous*
11. Inside jokes of band??
I was on marching band staff for my old high school for a year and it was pretty cool to see what traditions managed to stand the test of time. I don't remember too many of the class inside jokes. But at our 5-year high school reunion, some of the band kids sang "The STD Song" and we were reminiscing about the time we made the chant about the size of a staffer's moobs. To tell the whole story would take too long.
12.If you could, what color would your instrument be?
I'll keep my silver flute. But I wish one of my 6-hole flutes had a deeper brown color. I'm very happy with my blue bass.
13. Are you involved in anything outside of band with your instrument?
Nothing official since college. I just like to jam with my fiance. We may join a community band in the future. He needs to get the money to buy a french horn first.
14. Have you put anything on your instrument to define it? (stickers marker [ect.])
No. I've decorated my cases though. One of my 6-holes is actually made of PVC pipe. I plan to decorate that someday.

My bass has a big scuff on the edge of the body. You cant see it when I play. But it's there. I fell in the parking lot as I carried it to my car. Fortunately it was pre-owned bass. But it has more personality now and it plays fine.
16.Do you look good while you play your instrument?
I think I look pretty hot playing my bass. Not really playing the flute. I'm not a very petite person so there looks like a mismatch going on.
17. Best compliment for your playing?
I actually don't play with any vibrato at all. Never learned how nor did I figure it out. My flute Prof. (I took flute lessons in college to boost my GPA) was fascinated by that. He actually complimented me on it because my sound was pretty solid and pure (I didn't sound like a 4th grader with no vibrato). He explained that this "problem" I have can be both a curse and a blessing. The curse is that I would probably not survive in the classical jungle without it. But at the same time, I have this naked, pure sound. A lot of flutists that start using vibrato find it really really difficult to stop using it and play straight. He said I'd make a really good folk musician. That kinda inspired me to start playing 6-hole. I think I'd like to play Irish flute in the near future.
He also said I had really strong sight reading skills.
18. Weirdest instrument you've ever seen?
I've seen MIDI wind controllers used in marching band shows. They kinda weird me out because I have a hard time wrapping my head around a wind instrument producing an electric sound. My fi wants one...
19.Tap your foot?
Depends on the song. I'll do it for marches and upbeat pieces that have pretty straight rhythms. But for more expressive pieces I don't tap.
20.Least liked section?
I don't think I have one...I definitely have favorites. But I don't dislike any of them.
21. Lessons?
I took them when I started playing in 3rd grade. I stopped once I was in band. Then I took lessons for credit in college.

Not very...a few girls rubbed me the wrong way...but my best female friends were in my section too.

Hmmm...I can see where'd I'd be both. I think to the rest of the world, I'm a geek that is in band. I have many other geeky interests like anime, computers and video games. And to most of the world, I don't play anything anymore. But my fiance and I both know we're band geeks at heart. When I visit him, it'd a different story. I play my bass. I play my flutes. We're talking about cosplaying as musical anime characters next year when we go to our usual cons so we're working on arranging anime tunes for sax and flute (I'm going as Amiboshi from Fushigi Yuugi and he'll be Midvalley the Hornfreak from "Trigun").
25. How long does it take you to set up your instrument?
Seconds.
26. Do you practice, or are you talented enough were you don't have to? or are you just lazy and have no talent so your like last chair?
I have enough natural talent to get by. I'm a fast learner. But I know if I practiced I would have been better in high school.

All of my friends were in band. Everyone I still keep in touch with was in band with me.

Not really.

Long black skirt and white top (or black top if you were in Wind Ensemble). Marching band uniforms were blue and white.

It happens. One of my good friends had a spectacular fall during a marching competition with his sousa. One of the drummers tipped and somersaulted over his drum at practice...that was pretty cool. I once took a good fall in the mud.

I have some dent on the mouth piece...and I believe that was from hitting a kid with it on the head..and there are only 5 scratches on it, mostly at the bottom..from hitting people too.

26. Do you practice, or are you talented enough were you don't have to? I try to practice Tuba before practice starts and I practice bass guitar at least an hour a day and on the weekend 6 hours total. you can never get enough practice

2nd, but I basically teach everybody the music fundamentals since I've had more experience. The BD chose our section leaders based on "leadership" instead of "playing ability".

3. yay for endangered sections (baritone/euphs).

Baritone: borrowed from school. yamaha

thunder and blazes cuz I only had a week to learn it and there were like 16th note cut time chromatic runs every two measures.

PERCUSSIONISTS!!! in a loud exasperated tone. The BD tells a story about how he was the percussion leader in college and when his BD was yelling at him for not setting up fast enough, the trumpet section leader walked by and said "percussionists!".

My last name is labeled on my trumpet case. My dad said he got a labeler for Christmas one year and everything got a label, including his trumpet case (which is now my trumpet case).

yes? Idk... I don't watch myself when I'm playing. I guess it depends on how lazy I'm being when it comes to posture.

.I Play the- trumpet,french horn,trumbone,sax baritone! well i play trumpet and everything is things i tried and thought was pretty easy! lol

awhile. i try to be extremely careful not to push too hard on anything...

i don't practice concert music, it's always really easy for me.
but i practice my other music alot, for honor band and stuff.

yes!
the clarinet and flutes always put out intruments in this biiig box after away games because it takes up less space on the trailer.
well, after one game, my friend and i did that, and when we got back to the school we put our uniforms and stuff away but not our clarinets since we have never needed to do it ourselves.
and then at school the next monday, we went to get them for practice, and they weren't in the instrument room so we asked the DM, if she knew where they were must of been left on the trailer which was locked and on the other side of town for the rest of the week. so we started flipping out. then she was like "just kidding, they're in the BDs office. you should've put them away!"
we were like O____O
did everyone change the plans on us?
that was the meanest joke ever, telling us they were on the trailer...

i use vandoren and rico royal reeds for bass clarinet, ricos and rico royals and clarinet, and ricos on tenor sax.
