(("They think I don't know a butt-load of crap about the gospel but I DO."))
Paul did a wild, ill-timed roll off to the side, scorching his back from one of his foe's counter-attacks.
Yeah, but I have no magic... waaaaait a second. What was that thing that he showed me...?
And quite suddenly, there were three Pauls.
In a step forward for his light-bending, all three started doing something different.
One Paul stood around doing essentially nothing but pointing his gun at Joe, while the other two started making a run for his flanks. Neither of them fired their handguns either; perhaps the concentration of bending light three different ways was too much. Either way, they were showing no signs of revealing their true natures any time soon.
((Sum up: One Paul in front, one on his left, one on his right.))

Josh took a deep breath.
"Aegis!" he roared, and threw himself into the midst of Aurelie's thaumaturgy. Each layer of magic washed off of him in turn, as though it could not quite realize he was its target. He was panting a little by the time he was through the wall, but he was totally unscathed against the entire thaumaturgic arsenal of a warlock. This was more than a little terrifying.

Kayla launched herself off the roof with the immense strength of her red scaled legs, soaring high and over the wall Aurelie had created. Her yellow eyes were slitted with concentration and her aim was deadly, she plummeted towards her target at a nearly vertical angle. She forced herself to remain silent as she fell, gritting her teeth together so they jarred painfully when she touched down, whether on a human or on the ground.

Samuel soared through the air and glided through the clouded sky, descending as he gazed down upon the place where the mansion stood. He landed before it and stood before the grand doors, looking up at them with some apprehension. What would occur once he opened these wide doors?

"How the hell!!" Aurelie screeched as she wheeled backwards, for a moment forgetting about her boots. As the hunter plowed toward her something was careening towards her really really fast. "Light!!" She yelled frantically, crossing her arms in front of her to ward off the attack. White hot light flashed in front of her and spread out like a beacon at the red creature. The breath whoosed out of her lungs as she was slammed far backwards into a heap as her lightshield barely did anything. Red gashs flowed down her arms where nails had gouged her, making her slip as she unsteadily tried to stand, bracing against the wall and crawling up. Her arms were throbbing as she shook her head to focus, seeing the wall behind her had caught her, but she was now a few more feet back. Seeing the hunter still coming, although she had at least hoped to wind him a little more she finally remembered her boots. Stomping one foot and holding out a palm her vision blurred then righted, and blurred again. Trying to focus, her throat was scratchy, and she dimly heard Apoline telling her to stop. But she knew if the hunter grabbed her it was over. "S-shadow-fire..", she whispered. Her glove turned red and a shadow pulled up in front of her, mixing with the fire that poured from her glove to turn to blue and purple flames. Although making the glyphes had stored enough power for that, she had to use more to do anything with it. She pushed, and sent the trail careening in front of her, but figured it would be completely miss. As she let it go forward she fell back against the wall, reaching up to feel a huge bump on her head and a gash, and realized dimly that her head was hurting and eyes blurring because blood was running down her face. For some reason that made her want to laugh, while a far corner of her brain screamed it was really bad. But her vision blurred and dark spots danced before it all went black.

Two zombies ran forward and picked up Aurelie, taking her away from combat. Another two ran into the McDonald's. Paul's rightmost self took cover while the other two approached Joe. As he withdrew from them, he realized that both were fakes. He fired in the general direction of a car the real Paul was behind. Two zombies began to approach the car, and another tugged Joe's shirt. Paul promptly dispatched the two zombies approaching him, but Joe was ready to shoot on sight, so Paul remained in cover. As Joe began to flee, Josh followed. As soon as he heard the click, he paused and threw his arms sideways in a shield.
Takeshi, clad in a trench coat, stepped out from an alley and fired a shotgun at Josh. Josh's shield stopped the bullets; Josh turned and ran at him, pausing as Takeshi pumped it and fired again. Another shield blew the bullets away, and two zombies were dispatched as Takeshi again pumped and fired, withdrawing as he went.
Josh rushed forward the second nothing happened as Takeshi pulled the trigger. Takeshi responded by throwing the shotgun at Josh's neck and pulling a Scorpion machine pistol from within the trench coat, firing small bursts at Josh each time he tried to move.
"Let's go!" he yelled. he commanded his zombies. A large number of zombies, carefully moved individually, came at Josh a few at a time, occupying him, and other spaced-out ones approached Paul. Kayla was being treated as Josh was, with a group of agile ones that did not stick their heads out to be crushed.

Kayla quickly found herself pinned against the slowly crumbling wall Aurelie had left behind, a ring of advancing zombies ahead of her. Puglith's instinct was to punch the nearest one in the face so hard it would break and wing it from there, and she had to fight hard to override him. She didn't want to end up any more encircled than she was, and she was also haunted by Alan's sneering face as he recounted his existence as a forsaken. She had no way of knowing that the zombies were just that and no more. Her hesitation cost her dearly though, as two zombies took that opportunity to charge her. She cught one on her forearm before she could even think properly and, aided by Puglith's reflexes and strength, wheeled her arm around and slammed him into the wall behind her. Cracks ran up and down, matching the sound that had come from the hapless creature's spine. The second zombie caught her in the middle though, and bore her to the ground. She quickly found herself covering her neck and the back of her head as she weathered an onslaught of kicks from the surrounding corpses. She tried to think and couldn't, she tried to stand up and couldnt, she could barely even hear Vassily screaming at her to get the hell out of there, why was she so useless. She felt a rib crack, and the sharp pain jarred her not to further action, but to inaction, submitting her body to an even greater transformation and letting Puglith into more of her mind. Suddendly, she/puglith was no longer in pain, except from the cuts, bruises, and other injuries already inflicted. The scales had expanded to cover more of her body, covering her face and torso. She/puglith stood without difficulty and struck out, sending two zombies flying away. They turned on the rest, who had backed away warily, and felt their blood rise as they prepared to finish the job. No. They took a step forwards, feeling light, and bared their now razor-like teeth. NO! They stopped, and with a short clipped sound the transformation subsided to its normal level. Kayla, relatively alone in her own mind again, could still hear Puglith but not as strongly. She turned and ran, not wanting to prolong the fight with her side stabbing at her as it was.

"Come on, let's get out of here," Takeshi advised Joe. "The zombies are carrying our comrades. For now, it's best to cut our failure. Legion already knows what happened. I'll explain my presence on our way back. For now, let's get a move on. Evocation zombies aren't long-term tools; it doesn't matter how many get cut down by her, and Legion's temporary boost to my ability is only temporary anyway. Some of them are probably already succumbing on their own."
~~
Josh was indeed noticing this: zombies who were hit even slightly by Kayla ceased to move. He grabbed Kayla as he saw her holding her side and effortlessly held her cradled in his arms as he began to jog away. Paul fired a couple of parting shots and followed after them. Once they were a secure distance, Josh put Kayla back on her own feet and asked to check on the wound.

She nodded mutely, letting Puglith slip away entirely. Her whole side was turning blitchily purple, but most of the damage was superficial, if painful. Se was exhausted though. The more complete transformation had drained her, and she stared dead ahead unblinkingly to keep herself upright as she trudged along.
"That girl. She's new, I don't know her. She's powerful though, a..." she paused and seemed to be listening to something. "A thaumaterge with each element bound to a seal. And they set fire to a school, for christ's sake. What the hell?" She was fuming, angry at herself for having allied herself with them in the first place. She also blamed Vassily for that, and was ignoring him for now.

Siber didn't answer. Instead, taking Linda's silence as a sign of dumb fear or shock, he had moved away into a corner and leaned against a wall, his eyes closed, barely holding on to both the Anahata dæmon and the Vishuddha. They didn't even have physical form- they just chatted with him while he maintained their intangible presence on his realm. Sweat stood out on his forehead in beads from the effort, but he refused to let his features reflect the strain and, with an intense mental calm discovered barely a year ago and still not quite perfected, endured the exercise with a quiescent expression. So you're Siber, then? This was the Anahata. That's my name. Quite the artist. And that was Vishuddha. What are you talking about? I can't draw worth crap. Yes, but your focus on aesthetics, even though it weakens me, strengthens her considerably. Now hold on, I know I cut the natural link between your two foci a long time ago, but I've been trying to rebuild it for years. Are you telling me I haven't been successful? Did you see how powerful that other dæmon even was? That was because Keldan forced you to let the two overlap again. Artistic expression and emotional depth have to be inseparable. Why do you think he's having you practice with the two of us? Us two and Pathelios are actually equal in power; we just have different focal points. You have to let the three of us work together. I thought I was! Looks like you just broke concentration. And they vanished. Siber realized his last sentence had made him scowl and quenched the frown immediately. What were they talking about? It didn't make sense, for one, and he thought he had accomplished the part he could understand. Something was missing.

Linda had been observing Siber carefully, "blinking" her third eye periodically to see eddies of magic energy where the demons were. She saw the magic disperse as he frowned.
"Having trouble with something?" she asked.

Aurelie stirred barely, not quite half concious, feeling something pulling at her. An echo of a great power ran over her nerves, searing, making her try to jerk back awake. Unconcious she couldn't block the feelings of power around her, and she felt one that drew the others together. It called to her like a wild miasma. A single thought lit as she realized the source, Legion. She turned her head feeling something cold pressing against her body as she was swayed along. Cracking her eyelids open to make sure one of the hunters hadn't gotten her or anything, she saw the skin of a cadaver an inch from her nose. Almost sighing with relief, since she guessed the hunters more than likely do not use necromancy, she opened her eyes and looked up. The zombie was carrying her somewhere. Tilting her neck she saw another one carrying Erik. He didn't look dead, thankfully, just sort of unconcious like her. She wondered the outcome of the fight, and where the zombie was taking her. She half wondered if she moved if it would put her down, then feared it might make the other one stop that held Erik, so she stilled. She snorted, growling at her. she replied softly, figureing it would help pass the time. Taking a deep breath she just stared forward listening to Apolline's ranting as the four zombies continued along the quiet alleways.

Siber blinked a few times, pushed away from the wall, and put up a wry grin. "I suppose I am. Just a little psychological aberration, that's all."
"Again, sorry for the freak-out. My Warlock buddy apparently has some history with one of those who was fighting a little while ago. Anyway..." He wiped the sweat from his forehead and made a face at it. Sweat is perhaps the greatest threat to any actor's performance. "So how are you? Why are you here while the others are out in the melée?"

Samuel opened doors of the mansion apprehensively, the creaking of the massive doors only serving to increase his apprehension. He entered and stepped on the soft, red carpeting, looking around to see if Legion was lurking to receive the report of the first to return.
