Joe could sense an intense mana signature from a silver amulet around her neck.

"Whoa," Joe said, raising a hand as though blocking light. "What's that?"

"This?" Linda asked, holding up the engraved silver. "It's for focusing light."
She placed her left hand on the amulet on extended the other. Everything in a line from the other hand turned black for a moment, and the ground was scorched where the blackness had been.

"Whoa..." Jacob commented, "That's intense."
Thantos was flying a short distance behind Jacob's head. He went over to the scorch mark to inspect it, landing next to it.

Joe smiled. "Well, hey, that's pretty cool. You seem to have picked up some serious skills from Arturo. I'm sure you'll be just as great, if not better."
He smiled sheepishly. "Actually, Jacob had a question for you about Thantos."

Jacob perked up, "I was actually just wondering how you would feel about performing a simple enchantment on Thantos...please?" he asked, smiling.

"Nothing huge, just an interdimensional portal inside his mouth. You see," Jacob explained, gesturing with his hands, "Thantos likes to chew, a lot."
As Jacob spoke, Thantos, indeed, was chewing the deck of cards that Jacob had provided to shreds.
"And when he's done, there's a huge mess. The stuff has nowhere to go, golems don't have stomachs, so it just gets everywhere. The ID portal would solve that and maybe even do more."

"All right!" Jacob said, letting go of his breath, "Thank you!"
He looked over his shoulder to see Thantos about to chew through the leg of a chair, "Thantos!" he called.
The golem immediately perked and flew lazily to Jacob who took hold of Thantos.
Jacob turned back around and held Thantos out to Linda, smiling.
"Go with her, Thantos, she'll take care of you."

"I'll help pay," Joe said quickly. "And, I mean...if we could get like, a discount, that would be cool. I mean, I was a part of the mission that saved your soul from the Heart of Darkness, and if you did this, even if it's not free, we'd be even in my book."
He smiled. "And of course, I'll help in any way I can."
