"Why should I worry that there are beings in the world that think ill enough of me to want to have me killed, or are brave enough to try themselves? There will always be those people. Being a necromancer comes with that problem; people want to kill you because you've taken away their loved one, people want to kill you because you won't given them back their loved one, the fanatics want to kill you for playing gods, the cultists want to kill you to strengthen their gods or gain your power. A never ending battle with the ideals of those around you."

Wasn't that a cute sight? The little gold holding both their hands as they walked back through the creepy place. Those she tried not to think on such things too hard. Things were messed up enough as they were. "Treasure, I have no scales at all. And that may be true, but I do know that your kind is affected by the environment faster than we humans are." Thusly leading him back to the ship. "Better get back to your deck, Captain. Getting dark and we won't be able to see but a few feet in front of our noses."

Yes, amusing if anything. "Careful...your horns will not grow back once you crack or break them. So I suggest you try to be careful, least you want to lose what good looks that Taerin did have." Handsome dragon, disgusting personality and no heart. Looking up at the sky then some. "You probably don't even know the proper sleeping position for this form. Wouldn't want you to wake up with a twisted wing or something." Sideglancing at Des. "You can teach him that. I don't sleep in this form if I can help it."

He nodded, understanding exactly where she was coming from. There were those that wanted to wipe him out because he killed and those who wanted to wipe him out because he refused to kill. They were two of a kind really and he was rather amused that she was so much like him. "Can't really win no matter what you do. Just have to be aware and alert at all times and watch who you trust. That's the biggest thing, Vryn. Don't trust easily."

"You have stuff that you wear that's kinda like my scales, though. I gots clothes too but yours is like my scales." Giving a nod to that since she had spoken correctly and he was much more likely to respond negatively. Plus he was tired. Crying would do that to you. As they came upon the ship, he stopped suddenly and turned to Thobias. "I didn't cry," he said firmly, clenching his fists and looking at them both. "My face says no, right?"

Thobias knew what he was asking and pulled out a piece of cloth that he wet with some water in a pouch on his belt then easily swabbed the boy's face to remove any traces of tearstains. "Now it does. I won't tell and neither will Captain Gem. You two get some sleep and I'll see you tomorrow." Pressing a kiss to Gem's cheek, he whispered his usual evening message into her ear and headed for the Chimera.

"I'll be more then happy to help with that."

a slight grin and rubbing his horns lightly.

"Yes, no further injuries to that sexy body. maybe if you are a good boy I'll show you all sorts of new things you can do."

that one was whispered in his hear with a slight trace of fingers between his wings.

That perked him up. lord did that feel nice. too nice...there had to be some trick there. no way that that spot could be that sensitive and so easy to get to.

"So what am I supposed to do now? waddle around?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 02, 2009 9:23 pm

"I don't trust anyone." Said flatly and perhaps with a tinge of bitterness to it. Aside from her family and those of her House, no she really didn't trust anyone. Granted she sometimes couldn't even trust the people she did try to trust. They moved things. "But that's the life I chose."

"Alright, I suppose you have a point Treasure." Letting Thobias tend to him before she picked him up. "Promise I won't tell." Watching Thobias go she sighed and headed up the gangplank of her own ship. "How about you stay in my cabin tonight? In case you get sad again."

Her whispering got a frown. "Don't do anything with him. Not anything like you're thinking. You'll stress that body out so fast you won't want to see how quickly he'll go downhill in health." Young dragons, always something on their mind, espcially females when they got all needy from nature. "Mostly. Faster you learn to walk, the faster you can move on to other things."

"I wasn't thinking to go that far. just...some enjoyable time alone. I'm not that bad."

desdemona frowned some, and helped Hunter off the barrel and letting him take her arm and walk around the deck some. being careful and minding how well he could keep his balance and the like.

"Sure you weren't." Seating herself on the ship railing and letting Des try her hand at getting Hunter to somewhat working order. "Better think of a name while he's hobbling around with his rock. Oh yeah and do remember...he's going to have to change his diet."

Lycear landed, in neutral form, on the remains of what was once the observation tower in Ilindal. Now only half as tall as it used to be, it still suprassed the other buildings and the walls themselves in height. They were right that he had needed some time to himself...but he also knew that he couldn't spend too much time on his own, there was work to be done here. He had been someplace specific and his mind was wandering again. Heading down he went to find the geomancer. "Koto, where's Drifter off to?"

"Whever it is that women wander when they're idle." Smirking, "I know, I'm not much help."

A slight chuckle.

"We could always call him Lazerous."

a slight nibble at his fingers and keeping hunter in working order.

"Lazerous? what kind of a name is that."

Hunter was getting better at walking, and not relying on Desdemona quite as much right now. wether he'd continue that tomorrow or not would be a different story.

Drifter knew when Lycear got back. she watched the skies for him from time to time while she helped with various tasks in the city. usually repairing some of the damage, reforming sand into stone and such. once Lycear was back however, she was already making her way up the tower.

"I am always where those that need me want me. What is on your mind, Lycear?"

"Don't give him something too hard...he may be in a dragon's body but he doesnt' know how to use a dragon's tongue to pronounce the usual names." Flicking her tail lightly back and forth as she watched. "I'm warning you...don't get friendly in that manner with him. You'll give him a heart attack."

"The land. It remembers things right? How long would it remember something?" Things were working in his head and he was starting to follow the crazy ideas he often had when he was younger.

A tilt of her head.

"It remembers, yes...it can remember as far back as there is an existing stone, or a strong amount of sand that stayed in an area. there are rocks and stone that remember before the storms, and there are some who's memories reach so far that even I cannot interpret what they say so easily."

before moving over by Koto, glancing at the stratagist a moment.

"why do you ask, dragon lord?"
PostPosted: Sat Jun 06, 2009 10:46 pm

Koto frowned. "Please tell me you're not thinking what you obviously are thinking. Just tell me no so I won't think about it too." Crossing his arms and giving an irritated noise...he was poking at his own old wounds and that wasn't good for him.

"I'm not, but I am." Turning his attention back to Drifter. "Can you heal land that hurts both phsyically and remembers things it would be better off not remembering?"

"And what of your son? I think I know how your wheels are turning."

"Do not bring Kaznec into this Koto."

"The earth and stone I can heal...But I've never tried to make it forget. I'm not entirely sure I can do that. I can try to put those memories to sleep I supposed..we'd have to see. but that means you'll have to tell me what you are thinking of trying to do."

Desdemona frowned lightly.

"Alright, alright. I won't do anything, I promise. and I think it's a cute name. Lazerous. it sholdn't be that hard to remember or learn, should it?"

"There is a spot out in the desert that brings nothing but a sense of grief. Where the land itself is scorthed right down through the bedrock for several layers that I can hardly fathom how deeply it goes. The sand for a few miles is black as obsidian, no matter how much the wind blows it away. Rather than a scar in the earth, it is an open festering wound."

"We can call him Lazy for short." Snickering with a chuckle at her own fun poking, flexing her wings some. "Even if he's not hungry make sure to feed him before he sleeps. Or you'll be waking in the middle of the night and you'll be off hunting. Granted, sleep is still a ways off right now. Take his rock from him for a few moments."

Drifter nodded lightly.

"I know that spot. and I know why the sand is black. and it is not as you think."

glancing at Koto.

"I asked of your past while exploring some theories as to your attacker. I sought out evidence of the story. Please have a seat, Lycear."

gesturing with her crystal hand.

"Your mate's death was not a natural thing. there was no bloodstain to the ground, no memory of spilled blood. this...mage, that tore your mate from you used powers that I cannot fathom in a singular being. Whatever it was this mage did it left this black sand. and this black sand contains great power within it."

taking a seat herself, and folding her hands together on the table.

"wether or not this was intended is a question. had your mate not destroyed this mage or drove him off, the black sand may very well been what he or she was after. Your mate's power is contained in the sand, if not her essence. it is like she left behind her strength, to aid someone that is capable of using it."

"I believe what this mage did..or tried to do...was to create this sand, and then use it themselves. steal the strength and might of a dragon. it may even explain how this mage was able to face your mate in combat alone in the first place."

watching him carefully.

"the black sand is not a wound. it is a gift. a parting gift to aid those that can come behind. I see how you feel it is a wound. as it marks this spot, and brings back all those memories. but I want, with your permission, to show you want this sand can do in capable hands. be it mage, geomancer...or dragon."

Desdemona glanced at her, and then at Hunter, before untying the rock from his tail.

"Well I don't want to be up in the middle of the night. So you hear that? you're eating wether you like it or not."

Without the added weight in the back, he felt the weight of his horns a bit more and stumbled forward before catching and righting himself. glancing at each wing in turn to fold it back, and took a few more steps without the boulder.

"See? I'm a quick learner."

Before a misstep sent him careening off to the side and into the railing.

Instead of having a seat he merely crossed his arms over his chest and let his tail lash about behind him. He had reached a point of some kind at this moment and he needed to solve it all. Of course there was no bloodstain, you didn’t leave any blood when you were more or less vaporized where you stood. He should take comfort in what she was trying to say but it was hard to see past his anger. Usually he had Kaznec around to soothe the boy’s own troubles and thus not focus on his own. Now with his son gone, all his mind could do was dwell on how far things had come and how wrong they had gone.

“You get one chance…then if I have to melt it down to glass and smash it myself I will…” He couldn’t coddle Kaznec anymore, letting him collect bottles of black sand that did nothing but further upset the boy. “Stay here.” He left for a brief time, venturing to his residence and to the remains of the ruined room with various stacked chests. Opening one, he took out a bottle of fine black sand and handed it to Drifter when he returned. “Will that suffice?” He wasn't going to take a chance and let him believe that any good came from it until he saw some proof. Believing beforehand meant he had to face Laricalu and his guilt all over again and perhaps only getting more hurt in the process.

“Quick faller too. It will take more than a few days to adjust. Just wait till your stomach gets the better of you, that’s the fun part.” Turning a look to Des. “Dragonlings have the tendencies to gorge themselves on food. He’s not used to his stomach, I expect the same from him. Something you want to avoid.” Feeding was no doubt the next thing.” She pushed Hunter back to standing with her tail and helped him steady using it some. “Best to use your rock for another day or so.”

Drifter nodded lightly.

"I do not envy your pain, Lycear. nor your anger."

taking the bottle, and pouring some into her hand, and walking to the window. her form shimmered, like her skin was sparkling with a green tint like she was covered in light green glitter, before blowing the sand off her hand out the window.

there was a sound like ice being ground down, and the outer walls of the city shrank by about a foot or two, like something was compressing them..before one could easily see veins of diamond running through them like a work of lightning inspired art.

"This is part of what this sand can accomplish. a handful of it..defensively. imagine what wonders and miracles could be achieved with more..and used for other things then defense. healing, restoration...offense if needed."

looking to lycear.

"Broken horns can be mended. illness that is beyond herbal treatment, or unassisted magical curing can be done. the weakest child mage could become a titan with this sand. when I understood this...I think that is what happened to your mate. this mage had done this act before. used other sand to try to harvest more."

A small look out the window.

"And I won't say I was not tempted. tempted to gather all that black sand to myself, have all the raw power at my disposal to make my dreams all come true. But I knew the cost of that power. what it cost you, what it cost your son, and what it cost this city."

looking back to Lycear.

"I am a servant of the earth. not it's master, nor am I yours. I am here to aid your choices, to help you. I abide by your choice. I can hide this sand...I cannot destroy it, but I can bury it so far beneath the surface that it would be forever hidden without remaking the world."

Des smiled endearingly at her hunter, but paid attention when she was spoken to.

"How do I know when he's gorging and not actually filling himself? I don't know how much this dragon ate normally...I mean different kinds of foods mean different amounts. travel food doesn't have the nutritional value of other foods."
