Our normal band teacher feel and broke her ankel so bad she wouldn't be back for the rest of the year to yikes and we had a sub dude and he was playing the flute one day and it reminded me of a piece of flair I had on facebook then I laughed and he asked what I was laughing about and I said "You know flair on facebook well I have a peice that says 'I called your ex-boyfried gay and he threw his flute at me' and you just reminded me of that" he just shrugged and went back to playing

I'm a bell player and base drum(Marching season only) and I know that. It's not blowing hard, it's the fact you have to have a very small ambasher.

Advice?
I got braces like..... three months ago? Honestly, I can't stand them. I'm fine (not happy, but fine) with not being second flute anymore, but last (not that I have a problem with it)? I'm always airy and at times I can never get above an F (it's kinda sad in my opinion). I even used to play piccolo 'cause no one else could get a good tone out of it but now even I can't get a sound. Braces ruined my embouchure, ;w; Lately, that's all I've been practicing at home but I still can't get good sound, x3
And it doesn't help that my band director is a percussionist.
(I thought this could be bumped.)

I have a question:
Since the Ocarina is technically a flute instremnt and plus my original instrument is flute I decided to ask here!
I was wondering do you know where (besides ebay or amazon) I can get a good ceramic Ocarina with song books?

Flutes are the best instrument ever! (ignore your conductor, they're just jealous.)
I agree, don't blow hard, its just adjusting your lips. As you play more your air support grows and stuff.
Thing I learned at music camp, BREATHE. Stick out your tummy like you're fat! (You're flute's shine will distract! :D) There, you can get enough air into your diaphragm and you'll have more air. Also, use your lungs along with your diaphragm. I'll increase your air flow. (:
Quick question, what brand of flutes do you guys use? [sorry if that question has been asked before!]
I use an Armstrong! Model 102 if memory serves.

Holy crap that is an AMAZING flute. I've never seen a baroque flute before, they look sooooo cool! And they sound so pretty! <3
Oh, I hate playing flute with cold fingers. ): ...Or any instrument for that matter. ):

My flute's a Gemeinhardt and the model.. uhh.. D:
There's way too many fricken numbers on mine..
But I think it's 3B..?
The other numbers seem to be too long for them to be the model O:
But I might be wrong..

I am like the only male flutist in the community orchestra I'm in and I've always been "that guy who plays the flute" since grade school. gonk Although I don't really see myself playing another instrument other than the flute, it's easy to pick up, but friggen hard to get good at it. -__-

Don't worry, guys who play flute are always known as 'the guy who plays flute'. I know a couple of them. xD My band had 3 last year. Two quit this year. xDD

Hopefully I made some progress with the flute in the last nine years and am a better flutist. xD I have never met an irl male flute player other than myself, I live in a really small town. ._.
Oh hey, a question to anyone who knows, I usually take my flute into the music store for a clean every six months or so, does anyone know or have an opinion on how often I probably should take it in for a clean?
